Ted Peters Famous Smoked Fish Reviews from The Last Year
The food was great and obviously why you go to a restaurant
The food was great and obviously why you go to a restaurant but the server wasn't the friendliest person to be kind. The ambiance It was nice sitting outside but remember NO dogs even outside in the parking lot. My dog was literally laying in the parking lot next to my car behind me and the waitress was pissed, mind you he's a ex leader dog so he is very well behaved and nobody was sitting near me.
Historic and fabulous! CASH ONLY! Can't go wrong.
Simple menu with amazing food!
Ted Peter's legendary smoked mullet has been a local
Ted Peter's legendary smoked mullet has been a local favorite for decades - and deservedly so. Native Floridians along the central gulf coast have long had an strong affinity for the local delicacy that is smoked mullet. Ted Peters introduced this local favorite to northern travelers 70 years ago, and the rest, as it is often said, is history. While I wholeheartedly recommend smoked mullet over the salmon and mahi-mahi, the truth is that nearly all oily fish lend themselves to the smoking process. If you'd rather prefer a more commonly recognized fish - the salmon and mahi offerings make for a good introduction to Ted Peter's signature smoked mullet. Each fish dinner comes with a side of Ted Peters southern take on German potato salad. This delicious warmed side dish is a bestseller, only superseded in flavor by the freshly smoked fish. Cash is king at Ted Peters, for all the right reasons. The popular local fish house hasn't at all changed much since Ted first decided to move his one man street side fish sales operation indoors. It's a simple and rustic operation that delivers fresh mullet from the gulf to the onsite hardwood smokehouse to the table. Wear whatever you're wearing and head on down for an extraordinary treat - you won't be disappointed!
Don’t Care about Quality
While visiting Tampa we drove to get some of Ted’s smoked mullet, which was good a few years ago. We ordered the smoked mullet dinners, the fish was very dry and the skin was black, it was so over cooked. We tried to eat it since we came so far but couldn’t. Spoke to our waiter and he went to management, The wife didn’t eat her fish so they made her pay for the half eaten cold slaw and the potato salad that came with the meal. I was surprised they didn’t charge us for the extra napkins.
This is my first time coming here, and halfway through my
This is my first time coming here, and halfway through my meal someone came up and said I had to leave because I ordered the wrong type of meal. He said that I had ordered to-go (I didn't, I walked in and a lady asked what I would like, I said the salmon meal please, then I paid her and I asked if I could sit anywhere, and she said yes); so because I had a togo order which just means it's a box with a plate inside, that I couldn't eat there anymore. I apologized and said I didn't mean to order togo, there must had been a misunderstanding and I explained the above to him. He said nope, she told you to-go so now you have to leave. I replied, I don't want to be rude, but because this was obviously a misunderstanding could I stay and finish my meal, and with a smile on his face the guy said nope you gotta go now. I don't know what makes people act a certain way, and lose the ability to talk human to human, but it's pretty sad they don't seem to care about customers here. I really wanted to like this place too, but I can't in good faith recommend people come here if they seemingly view their customers as transactions rather than people just like them.

I have been coming here for 30 years and it never disappoints. Smoked salmon is my favorite. And they have "Slap yo momma" key lime pie!!
Come for the fished smoked on site; stay for the rest of the menu.
Nothing fancy about a restaurant where you eat at picnic tables. Smoked fish spread was as good as ever. The surprise, however, is their hamburger. One of the best around. I think they’ve been perfecting their key lime pie recipe for the entire seventy years of their existence!

One of my favorites I'm old enough to remember ted if Florida and Florida atmosphere you love this place
Visited again today .
.. it's been 7 years! The smoked fish drive up was open, and what an amazing selection! We also got some of the smoked fish spread, but not as sandwiches this time. It's a perfect appetizer or snack with saltines. Still on the sweet side, but it works perfectly as a dip! Today they had their shutters down because it was in the 50's out and a bit breezy... the result created a very cozy indoor space. Friendly and efficient, as I recall from our last visit, I hope we have a chance to visit again soon!
Really good smoked fish.
Dinner is big enough to share for two people (or good for one very hungry person). Only negative is that it is cash only, but other than that the place is great and I don't know of anywhere else that serves this type of great smoked fish. If you like fish, you should definitely go here.
Uh Oh Let me start by saying we've been coming to Ted
Uh Oh Let me start by saying we've been coming to Ted Peter's for over 50 years. We always get the cheeseburgers. Does anyone remember the comments/praise from the past food critics in the Tampa Bay Area for the highly acclaimed Ted Peters cheeseburger? This would not be it! We visited over the holidays and sadly, the delicious hamburger meat that tasted fresh and juicy has changed. It looks like this now is a premade, dry, tasteless, most likely, frozen patty (it's now a flat perfect circle of meat -think school cafeteria)! The burgers were always unique at TP and we assumed it was because it was freshly ground meat. That is what kept us coming with four generations of family for all these years. I noticed right away when the waitress brought our food and the first bite confirmed my fear! We are hoping this was a short term fluke otherwise we will not be driving 30 minutes for a cheeseburger. We always bring a party of 8-10 and come as often as we can! That being said the smoked mullet dinner, German potato salad, smoked fish spread and frosted root beers were just as wonderful as in the past! Our waitress was great as well! Thank you!

Our goal- buying mackerel, first attempt 2pm not successful(sold out) , next day we came at 11.47am (they opened 11.30) and luckily got 4 last mackerels!!! Before heading back to Chicago, we decided to have lunch. Waitess was extremely nice and knowledgeable , food delicious, big portions, for sure we will revisit.
Iconic Old Florida
A St. Pete landmark. It's been around forever. Still retains it's old Florida charm. Great service. Great food. Take a peek at the menu before you go. It's very limited with a focus on smoked fish. Not something everyone in your party might like. Believe it or not, the burgers are Fantastic at a smoked fish place.
Don't bother tipping and I'm not bothering coming back.
They just lost a 40-year customer today. I grew up in St Petersburg and have been stopping there almost every time I visit. I stop by today for a small takeout order. Even though it was take out I left about a 15% tip. Then I asked for a small packet of Tabasco and the hostess told me she would need to charge me $0.15. The food would have been good with the Tabasco but was bland without. Don't bother tipping the wait staff here because they won't even give you a small packet of Tabasco. Goodbye Ted Peters.
If you've been to St. Petersburg, you've been to Ted Peters
As a family vacationing in St. Petersburg, Florida, in 1951, we probably weren't the first ones to sample the signature smoked fish sandwiches at Ted Peters Famous Smoked Fish restaurant. But we had to be close. I still recall the sign on St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Max Lanier's bar across the street. Max is long gone. But Ted Peters continues to thrive, a family owned an operated restaurant for five generations. Located at 1350 Pasadena Avenue South in the South Pasadena neighborhood, near the bridge that connects St. Petersburg and St. Petersburg Beach, Ted Peters opened in 1951 and remains as unique and as popular as ever. Open from 11:30 to 7:30 Wednesday through Sunday, it is a cash only business with a limited menu of smoked fish sandwiches and dinners that feature mullet, mackerel, mahi-mahi and salmon. The menu also includes Manhattan clam chowder, slices of key lime pie and the house's famous German potato salad. At our latest visit, my wife and I each had a smoked salmon dinner with German potato salad, coleslaw, pickles, tomato sweet onions and lemon. There is something about the smoked hickory process that gives the fish a never-experienced-before taste. And, over the years, we've tasted all four of them, sandwiches and dinners.
it's a must when u r near by.
very nice welcome from the people working there. warm atmosphere food was delicious it's a must when you visit the area.

The site doesn't have resources to properly execute a reservation transfer. Some places allow it however the best bet is to open a chat on the listing from the seller and communicate there

Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
