Lunch at Teleferic
We ordered the garlic shrimp, crispy artichoke, and beef Wellington, plus the trio for dessert. Teleférico food never disappoints. Everything was excellent and prepared to perfection. Service was impeccable. The restaurant was busy and we came without reservations. We sat at the bar which allowed a great view of the work of the servers, but without distracting our conversation. I highly recommend Teleféric Barcelona.
Be the first to ReplyTry their tapas 😋!
The service was really good. The atmosphere and location are also really nice. Now let’s talk about the food… My favorite tapas were the empanadas, pulpo and gambas al ajillo. We also had the seafood paella and was very delicious. I you are in the area and want good food, I highly recommend this place.

I have reason to travel to Palo Alto 2/year so I’ve been here twice now over a 2 year span. Both times were fantastic! Because I’ve dined solo, I wasn’t able to get the paella, but the tapas and cocktails are delicious. Once I sat at the bar and once outside and both times I felt welcome and well cared for. I highly recommend for authentic, wonderful Spanish food and drink.
Be the first to ReplyDon’t order the paella
When we order paella for two, we expect more than two small clams, two pencil eraser sized scallops and four medium sized shrimp. This was the Paella Negra. There were scant traces of tough octopus in the squid ink rice. A Spanish restaurant claiming to be authentic should be more generous with the paella ingredients. Clams are not expensive. We did also have a salad that was overdressed and had a rice paper “lid” dusted with matcha. It didn’t make much sense. It was a disappointing meal to say the least.

Went here for a Happy Hour with a client. The food was good overall and the table was generally pleased with the cocktails we ordered. The only frustrating part of the visit is that when I ordered a second mocktail, my drink came fully loaded and I didn’t figure it out until I was half way through the drink. That is not a big deal for me, but something to note for others that don’t drink.
Be the first to ReplyNot bad, not great
Iberian Oysters: 3/5 - fresh, but lacked flavor ($4 per oyster) Empanadas: 3.5/5 - tasty filling, too much pastry Octopus: 5/5 - super tender! Wish it was bigger portion Dragonballs: 2.5/5 - salty. Nothing stood out Gulf shrimp: 5/5 - wife gave this score. Perfect according to her. Pork belly: 3.5/5 - liked the sauce. Spanish meatballs: 3/5 - meaty, bit too much cheese for my taste. Lobster paella: 5/5 - loved it. Tender lobster and shrimp. Flavorful rice. Trio selection dessert: 3.5/5 - churro w/nutella, ice cream, rice pudding and french toast. All that, plus 1 cocktail, tax and 20% service charge came out to a little over $270. Located in a busy shopping center, but most of the stores close early, so plenty of parking. Our reservation was for Sunday night 7:30, but we arrived 30 mins early and they seated us right away. Restaurant was packed and loud (music and people).
Be the first to ReplyTerrible rip off and tiny tapas that have nothing to do with Spain
This place is a big rip off. Nothing extraordinary that deserves this high price menu. I don’t how owners are not ashamed to charge so much. It’s insane that dishes come very small, not even authentic Spanish tapas, and so expensive. I came here being nostalgic of my trip to Barcelona and for a few things we paid $400 dinner. And tapas are joke. Recommend other restaurants in Palo Alto. I don’t mind to pay for good food, but this is someone making fools of people type of place.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent tapa's
We stopped in for dinner at the Los Gatos location. Everything was good although like most places that serve tapa's, the portion sizes were on the small size. Our party had the Half Baked Cookie, the Patatas Braves, the Hiden Gem Salad, the Empanadas, the Cauliflower, Spanish Meatballs, Gazpacho Porron, Wellington, Gambas Al Ajillo and Dragon Balls. The drinks were also good. We had the Sangria Barceloneta, Sangria Teleferic and the Estrella Galicia beer. Very expensive meal and a 20% gratuity is added on to the bill. Overall, an enjoyable dining experience.

Good outdoor seating. Food is great, we've been to this place several times with different group of friends and have not try a dish that we do not like. Love the sangrias and good Spanish wine selection too.

Ten of us came here for dinner on a Tuesday night. Parking was not too bad. We made a reservation so there was no need to wait for a table. By around 6:30 PM, all tables were occupied. My wife came here many times for lunch and dinner, but it was my first time. Since she has been here so many times she ordered a ton of food for everyone to taste. Mainly tapas, but also salad and rice. I ate so much but did not know any of the names! The service was excellent. Food was delicious. Price was reasonable. Ten of us and the bill was $700. Definitely need to go back again soon!
Be the first to ReplyGood, but bit expensive for portion sizes served
We came here with a reservation, yet when we arrived they did not have a table for us. We sat at the bar. My son and me were here trying out different restaurants each night. We ordered sparkling wine by the glass. The bar tenders were amazing. We were watching them come up all the exotic cocktails with incredible speed. He gave us both shots to try of another table he had made 2 extra! We ordered the empanadas as starters, took long, when it come, plonk, the server dropped one on the floor! Made sure she replaced it! I had the salmon steak, my son the lobster dish. The portions sizes were TOO SMALL. The US is known for large portion sizes, I guess not so in Palo Alto! Had the typical Churros with Nutella for dessert. Cant go wrong. Overall, food was good, no doubt, but expensive for the portion sizes served.

Friendly service. Wonderful sangrias. Those great empanadas... And, of course, the paella. A perfect evening with fantastic food. Eat outside. It can get crowded indoors.
Be the first to ReplyAuthentic Spanish food
Yes, it is overpriced, we expected the paella to be larger for the price, but if not the best I have ever had it was pretty good. Lovely outdoor setting. Fantastic waiter! After going someone told us we would have been better off ordering tapas, so that is what we will do next time
Be the first to ReplyMediocre paella
We've eaten there a couple of times, and the quality of the food just goes down. The paella is mediocre, not cooked as you ask, and with little alioli.
Be the first to ReplyOverpriced awful food
Would someone please call the food police because my family was robbed of $218 last night at this restaurant which served us one for top 10 worst meals of our life and I would like my money back.
I have wanted to try Teleferic Barcelona since pre-pandemic and was able to snag a reservation for March 6th at 4:45 pm. All the reviews I read were hopeful and my wife and I have traveled to Spain many times, so we are familiar with Tapas and Spanish food.
We arrived with our adult son right on time and the host seated us immediately. I was struck by how full the dining room was for such an early hour on a Sunday which made me hopeful our meals were going to be special.
As is typical for a Tapas restaurant the menu was filled with a variety of small plates and we picked 3, Crab Croquetas, Chicken Empanadas and Calamares. The Empanadas arrived first. Presentation was unusual, 4 tiny pockets of chicken each on a wooden skewer standing vertical on a wood base. Accompanied by a spicy aioli, these were warm, and tasty. Next the Calamares arrived, also stacked on 1 large wooden skewer with perhaps 8 pcs of calamari. These sad to say were not good at all. The breading was overly thick, burnt, and heavy with seasoning. Paired with a tasteless squid ink aioli, this dish was inedible. The last Tapas was the Crab Croquetas, three nicely presented pockets topped with a slice of thinly cut raw tuna. When I bit into the croquette it was a gooey creamy interior of what I could not identify. Absolutely no hint of crab, but an overwhelming mouthful of cream cheese? Just a mess of a dish.
For our main course, my wife ordered the Prime Wellington wrapped in a brioche and my son and I decided to split the Maine Lobster Paella. The menu describes this dish as a Maine lobster in shell with shrimp. I asked our server about this, and she said due to supply issues they changed the dish to a lobster tail deshelled. Well, what we received was a disaster. I have had Paella all over the world. Typically, it is served in a large shallow pan filled with fluffy rice, fragment with seafood and sausage, which is not what we got. We received a pan with a shallow fill of rice and when I say shallow it was 1 rice kernel deep. There were three limp whole shrimp and a very limp, anemic looking, small lobster tail. Now if I had not asked before ordering about the lobster I would of expected the whole lobster in the shell. The rice was disgusting, burnt in places and without any of the expected variety of seafood. The shrimp and lobster tail was tasteless.
I have traveled the world, eaten a more than 100 Michelin rated restaurants from France to Hong Kong to Italy to San Jose and beyond. I have had bad meals at some. I have also had tremendous meals from street carts in Singapore and crepe vendors on the sidewalks of Paris. There is a difference between individual taste and degree of quality. I do know tasty food from bad food and this entire meal was unbelievably bad.
Why anyone would write a positive review is beyond me. My goal in writing this review is to inform and warn other dinners. If you plan to spend $100, $200 or more on a meal there are literally 100’s of better places in the Bay Area to eat and support.
Unbelievable paella
Teleféric is a GREAT Spanish (Catalan actually) restaurant, located in the Town and Country Village, with nice seating outdoor, and a minimarket of Spanish delicacies.
You can also order dishes to go in this market, and that's what I did: my wife did not want to eat, and the paella served in the restaurant is good (and priced) for two. So I went to the market and asked for a black paella for less than US$30. Incredible value!
Got some plastic gear and hit one of the public tables nearby. The paella was absolutely fantastic, humid, with excellent flavoring, great seafood pieces.
I absolute recommend, and if you are in a low appetite, low people count or low budget, try ordering in the market as I did.
Fantastic- stylish, great food, great service
WOW- really loved this place. Very stylish- feels more like a SF restaurant than one at Town and Country shopping center. The food was delicious with the Pan con Tomate a real highlight. Definitely will be back.
Be the first to ReplyAuthentic Spanish cuisine
We were in Palo Alto last week for 5 days. We discovered this place on our 3rd night. We have been looking for a good spanish restaurant since we visited Spain 3 years ago.
We had the Pulpo for starters and it was really authentic. For our main we had the Paella Mixta and again it was an explosion of flavors. Make sure to request it be cooked socarrat style. For dessert we had the nutella churros which was also good although we preferred the Spanish churros without sugar coating.
We didn’t get to see the inside dining area since we just dined outside. They also have a merkat or small grocery to buy spanish ingredients and tapas. We love the food so much that the next day we ordered our dinner there for take out. This time we ordered the Gambas al Ajillo which was also sooo good we cleaned out the box same with the Paella Negra. We ordered it in the Paella pan. There is a $20 deposit. This is so that they can cook it soccarat style. (Note: you have 4 mos to return the pan to them). This was also very delicious contrary to other reviews i read that it was salty. It must be the saffron that is in most Spanish dishes. This was also very delicious that we cleaned out the pan. We also had the patatas bravadas for appetizers. We love the food so much that we would have eaten again there another night if we didn’t have to go back to socal already.
The price is definitely worth it. And there is a 20% SC if you call in for reservation.
We would definitely comeback on our next visit to Palo Alto.
We will be back!
We went for lunch and sat outdoors. The service was warm and friendly from the lady who received us at entrance to the servers. We ordered several appetizers and a Paella Negra. We loved all of them! They were prepared and presented well. The food came quickly and was served efficiently and with great ease. We had the pulpo, gambas al ajillo, the pork belly, and the Brussels sprouts. We also ordered the sangria Barcelona which was a perfect summer drink with cava. Our paella arrived still warm and dotted with the allioli. It was flavored well and had ample seafood. For dessert, we shared an order of the churros.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing
Oh, man, I really wanted to like this place. Been trying to eat here for months and finally the opportunity arose. Meh.
Uber-aggressive service at times by support staff. Mandatory 20% gratuity added to the bill (this was not a Healthy San Francisco mandated surcharge or anything like that – it was the gratuity added to the bill for a table numbering less than six people) which explained the weird, uneven, and frustrating service.
I love me some Spanish food. Pulpo (octopus), tapas, papas fritas, paella, gambas, even an occasional bacon-wrapped fig; “love” is not too strong a word.
Some dishes did score, such as the watermelon tomatoes; but, most disappointed. In reading some of the other reviews, I must have been at Teleferic on a bad/off night; or, the dining scene in Palo Alto/South Bay has lost its edge and the plethora of nouveau riche is content with mediocrity.
The lobster paella was way too oily and missing lobster. At $58, I would pass on the skimpy dish. The vegetarian paella had the crispy rice we requested, but was skimpy as well. The pulpo was fine, such as it was, though did not compare to the photo online. As an aside, I am growing increasingly concerned about the growing number of restaurants serving octopus; are we eating these out of existence?
Wine was good and reasonable. Balanced list. Great organic Chardonnay by the glass at $12, as well as a cava and a great Tempranillo ($15/glass).
In the Bay Area, we have a number of dining options. When I want Spanish again, I think I’ll stick to Duende (Oakland) or Coqueta (San Francisco). Teleferic disappoints. And it ain't even close to Barcelona, no way.

Good place for Tapas and Paella
My fourth visit here. Had the Gazpacho, beautifully presented, Potatas Brava crispy potatoes with sour cream and piece of Bacon, the Salmon was moist but not much in the way of accompaniments. The Churros can be shared, 6 smallish churros deep fried crisp and stuffed with Nutella
Be the first to ReplyFun place to get together with friends
This is definitely a fun place to eat. Lots to sample. The tapas are all good. The grilled octopus is so tender. The crab croquettes are also very good, but I don’t know why a piece of tuna sashimi is added on top. I don’t think the sashimi adds anything to the croquettes and it’s rather incongruent. Very good white sangria. The Spanish meatballs are tasty. The prawns and shrimps are tasty but the texture is kind of mushy which normally indicate that they are not fresh. We had the lobster paella. A bit more salty than I like and it has no saffron in it that we can detect. More like tomato based. Not the best paella I have ever had.
Be the first to ReplyCovid Lunch
We met friends for lunch and sat outside. The service was surprisingly good considerimg all the post covid restaurants have been disappointing. We ordered small plate assortment. Very good food and presentation was top notch. Service was attentive. Worth paying the extra gratuity. We will be back
Be the first to ReplyMediocre paella, but great drinks
On the coldest day recorded in 71 years, our furnace went out and we went to Teleferic for refuge and dinner. We ate inside, which was lovely, and safely spaced tables and seatings. I had a terrific Spanish drink with brandy and rye and spanish orange bitters. The paella, however, was disappointing: mostly rice, very salty, one large langostino and several very tough bony hunks of pork. That was pretty much it, for a pretty high price.
