This is fusion done right! I have to give the owners credit for fusing Thai food and American diner food together, since it wouldn't be the first combination I would have thought up myself. The place is a bit pricey, but it is SO worth the money you shell out. They have traditional Thai dishes as well as fusion dishes, such as Thai tea French toast, disco fries (fries with curry and peanuts), pad thai with fried chicken, and many other options. There is indoor seating as well as outdoor seating, and the mixing of the Thai and diner asthetic is so creative. I can keep going on about this place, but check it out if you can!

Crispy Chicken Pad Thai - 7/10I really enjoyed how flavorful this pad thai was and it was just the right amount of sweet and sour. The chicken was also delicious as it was perfectly crispy and juicy. BUT I had to dock points because of it's price and quantity.Crab Fried Rice - 7/10Honestly I also really enjoyed this crab fried rice. There was big pieces of crab and the sauce on the side was magnificent! But I did find some pieces of crab shell and the price is just too steep for the quantity. These two dishes came out to 60 after tip and tax So while it was delicious I'm not sure if I would be back

Although Thai Diner has a couple traditional Thai dishes, much of their menu merges traditional diner foods (fries, wraps, sandwiches, fried chicken, etc.) with Thai flavors. I think their authenticity really shines through both their flavors and their atmosphere/decor. We've gone 3 times, and on the most recent trip we ordered the Thai Diner Egg Sandwich, Thai Disco Fries, and Pad Thai with Fried Chicken. On each occasion every dish was executed well. Most of their tables are for 2, so it's significantly hlarder to get a table for 3+ (1-2 hours) vs. 15-45 minutes for 2.

While I've had the opportunity of getting take out Thai
While I've had the opportunity of getting take out Thai diner (and some of the dishes originally from the uncle boons restaurants), I hadn't had the chance to come in to the restaurant today when a lunch reservation popped up on Resy and I quickly snagged it. The in-person experience was incredible. We started off with the lamb laab and I think that was the dish that surprised me the most. The amount of flavor packed in here is something I have not found elsewhere, and the lamb really makes it unique. This was the spiciest dish we got and happily slurped our Thai iced teas afterwards. The stuffed cabbage was unexpected as well in that I'd never think to find it on a Thai restaurants menu, but it was truly quite good. If you're thinking cabbage? Here? Think again. I'd been slacking on my veggies so a side of the pea shoots were ordered as well and honestly, you should definitely get these. Perfectly cooked, perfect sauce, actually addictive. To satisfy the sweet tooth, we did order the babka French toast as well, and wow is that thing rich. Like INTENSE rich. I was genuinely impressed at how melt in your mouth soft it was and how it tasted basically exactly like our Thai teas in babka form. That being said, a couple bites was all I needed. Get one to share!

It was just a 30 min wait for a table for 3 on a Friday, and this spot lives up to alllll the hype. Incredible cocktails -- loved the Hi-So and love potion shot and even more incredible? The food. You really should get the disco fries and fried chicken Laab. Our server was wonderful and I cannot wait to come back here as soon as humanly possible!

Must order is definitely Crab Fried Rice.
Overhyped place for meshing Thai cuisine with American diner vibes. Shared a roti with my friend while I ordered the crab fried rice for myself.Crab fried rice didn't disappoint -- the other reviewers were right. The portion was pretty good for the price. I was able to pack it to go as a meal for the next day.

Loved the vibes of this restaurant for catching up with an old friend or for dinner with a group! I've been wanting to try it since hearing it was from the Uncle Boon's teamI would say the shrimp wonton soup was a little sour for me, but the pad siu and the laksa curry we got were delicious.I do want to try their breakfast sandwich at some point soon! They only serve it until 5 pm though so will have to come back.

I had to wait a while to be seated , but it was well worth it. I suggest making reservations no matter what day it is . I wanted to keep it a simple dinner . I chose the khao mun gai, Thai style fried chicken with rice and two sauces . Everything was great. For dessert I chose the guava cake which was great as well . Hope you enjoy it's worth the wait!
.went back and somehow every additional dish tried was also delicious. Wow, mango sticky rice dessert. Resturant was friendly even when super busy the hostess was kind, even when letting us know we needed a full party to be seated and Rosalie helped us to pick our meal ( great new choices of pad thai fried chicken, mussels, and MANGO STICKY RICE). Saw Jung who actually recognized me after one visit which I think speaks to the amazing hospitality of Thai Diner. Definitely coming back for thirds!

I wanna start by saying I really love the food here! Coming from a fellow SE Asian, the flavors here are on point, especially the larb, papaya salad, and tom yum soup. I actually frequent this place a lot and am always satisfied food wise.I have to say that the service could improve. I've had two uncomfortable experiences here before and took a hiatus. A few days ago I decided to come back because I know my mom would love the food and I was really excited to show her. It was super busy and we didn't make a reservation so I anticipated a wait or possibly to not even get in there at all, but I figured we should try. The host was incredibly rude and unfriendly when we asked about the wait and seemed so inconvenienced by us. I'm disappointed cause I really do like this place but I just wish staff were a bit kinder!
๐
The place itself looks amazing.
Their fries were the best food. The service was pretty slow and we had to wait for ever for our foods to arrive, except the fries, that arrived swiftly. Its a pretty busy place with a lot of people waiting on a weekday as well. The crab fried rice took so long that we thought they forgot about it and the wait was definitely not worth it.
๐
One of the most flavorful pad thai's I've ever had.
The disco fries had a delicious, slightly spicy curry sauce that was to die for. Definitely worth it coming here!

All my friends who have gone to Thai Diner like their food
All my friends who have gone to Thai Diner like their food but I can't seem to get the hype. The menu is creative and has the potential to be better executed IMO.2nd visit I tried the tom yum dumpling soup, scallop crudo, and massaman curry. Everything was super salty and lacked depth, especially the crudo which had passion fruit seeds but no passion fruit flavor. The soup was at least twice as salty as other tom yum soups and I had 6 glasses of water through dinner. Service was ok but felt impersonal.

This was such a unique Thai dining experience.
A break from the typical Thai menu items. I was excited to try their specialty dishes. Came here on a Saturday afternoon and was told there was a 40 minute wait. I put my phone number down and went to a nearby bar. Didn't take long before the table was ready. We were sat "outside" inside the outside tent (how this is outside dining idk). It was snowing and cold but it was super cozy in there. The space is a little cramped. We were sat at a two top table, so I had to sit on my coat and hold my purse on my lap. Minor inconvenience that was totally worth it.We had dinner plans, so we tried to order light. We got the raw scallops to start. Very refreshing. Next we got the shrimp paste pork riblets. These were phenomenal, fall-off-the-bone tender. Would definitely order these again. We had to try the fried chicken sandwich also. It was perfect. Everything was great from the drinks to the food and the service.

Phenomenal flavors, and really friendly staff! We went on a weekday at ~530PM and managed to snag a seat without reservations. If you're planning on going on a weekend/peak dinner time, you're definitely going to want to make a reservation in advance - it's 100% worth it.

Not the BEST Thai food I've ever had, but not bad at all.
The atmosphere is so fun and the staff was great

Always a good time here.
The food is great and prices are alright. I would say the food is thai fusion, for the most part. Disco fries are quite salty and wasn't exactly for me but it's apparently really popular. The pitchers are worth, get it. My friend and I finished one and we had a nice buzz going on.

I saw Thai Diner on tiktok and did not expect it to be as good as it was !! We went for brunch and got their breakfast sandwich and the thai tea french toast. 10/10 you must order those. Don't bother with the coffee, but the food is amazing. The vibe is super cool and will be a great destination for early spring for sure. The thai disco fries are also a must order btw !!

what an interesting fusion, but I was pleasantly surprised! their disco fries were delicious and well seasoned. it is also quite a hefty portion so don't be surprised if you can't fit your entree afterward! the thai tea french toast was such a treat! what a unique twist on an american classic with the immersion of thai tea flavors. if you're looking for a more unique spin on thai food, I would recommend this restaurant!

if you look a day older than 35 on a weekend night for dinner, don't be too upset if they told you there is no table inside for you and your friends, when in fact there are more than one available. And don't feel pressured by the eloquent Sandra Oh look-a-like waitress into ordering appetizers because it's going to be a long wait for food. And especially don't let her talk you into ordering the $62 bottle of orange wine i/o by glass because it tastes better.Last but not least, don't feel you have overstayed your welcome if they start clearing off everyone else's plates when you are still eating. It's all good, otherwise, tasty food, beautiful interior, very tight seats.
Authentic with a twist. Thai diner stands out from the crowd because of its menu combined with its diner style decor.Getting a seat here seems impossible for a weekend evening (after 6pm) without waiting endlessly in line. I do recommend scoring reservations 1 week out. Although fyi the latest time they give you is 5:30pm. Everyone keeps saying to order the crab fried rice and in my opinion that was just ordinary. I would skip it in favor of the omelette lobster chu chee. I also highly recommend their roti kabocha as an appetizer. Be cautious, that will be pretty spicy for the average person. Roti was perfection, soft yet flaky. Also I love love love the fai dang veggie dish as a side! Super flavorful. I want to come back and tackle their interesting breakfast menu. Like the Thai tea babka French toast. That certainly doesn't sound Thai at all. But hey it's still drawing me in!

Thai Diner Ratings: 4.
2/5Food: 4.5/5 - I was visiting NYC and invited some friends out for dinner on a Monday night. This place has been on my list for a very long time, but there is always a long wait when I went. I was excited to finally have the opportunity to try it out, and I was not surprised that the food was amazing and definitely lived up the hype. See the description of my go-to dish that I always order at a Thai place besides curry. - Khao Soi Kaa Kai [GET]: This is a Northern style curry Khao Soi egg noodles cooked in rich and thick curry sauce with fresh turmeric topped with crispy fried noodles. There's a perfectly cooked chicken leg; the chicken literally just slides right off when you pull it off. Loved how tender the chicken leg was and super well-seasoned. The pickled mustard green added a good acidic kick to the dish. One of my favorite thing about it was the excessive amount crispy noodles on top. I mixed it up with the egg noodles, so there was a crunch on each bite. Overall, pretty tasty and delicious, so I approved. Ambiance: 4.25/5 - I like the ambiance of Thai Diner a lot. It got the unique take from a classic Thai restaurant, but got a diner vibe to it too. The interior is intimate, super cute, dark, and they nailed the theme of the store name. There's a lot of decorations and pictures on the walls. The only downside was they seated us in the outdoor heated booths with a party of four, and we felt very squished and tight during our dining experience, so probably would come back with a smaller party in the future. Price: 3.75/5 - My Khao Soi Kaa Kai curry noodle was $22 before tax and tips. I thought it was on the pricier side for the portion given compared to other Thai places in Manhattan. I thought the food was delicious, but it wasn't that phenomenal or mind bowing for the price listed. Service: 4.25/5 - Everyone was so welcoming, kind, and positive. We waited for around 15 to 20 minutes, and got seated in the outdoor heated booths. Our server was very nice, patience, and asked us if we needed any suggestions on the menu. The food came out pretty quickly, and was served hot and fresh. I love how everyone is so friendly, definitely a great experience dining there, above average customer service. BLUF: There's a decent amount of Thai restaurants in NYC, and I can say this is one of my top ones. The food here is top quality with an excellent vibe, and amazing flavors. I would return again for their Massaman Curry, because my friend says they sometimes still dream about this curry dish. Come give this place a try if you haven't.

Cute restaurant in the Nolita area that fuses together Thai food and a Diner. Came on a Saturday afternoon around 3pm and it was still very busy. Joined a waitlist from a hostess outside and only took about ten minutes to get seated. We came with a group of six and managed to squeeze into a booth in the corner. Was definitely tight but the restaurant provides coat hooks and little cubbies under the seat to store things. Decor was super cute and nailed the theme. Food was great too- we ordered the disco fries to share which had curry on the bottom and had a kick to it. The table also ordered the pad see yew, crab fried rice, and phat bai horapha and khao mun gai. All the dishes were good especially the ones with chicken had it was juicy yet tender. Would come back but maybe in a smaller group next time as the seating was very tight but still enjoyed our experience here and food was up to par!

Couldn't love this place more.
During the pandemic, its takeout has raised my spirits, and I hope now to be eating there more in person. My fav dishes are the Laab 19, the Khao Soi Kaa Kai (curry noodles w/ chicken), the turkey stuffed cabbage w/ coconut sauce, the and Uncle Boon's crab fried rice.

Sooooo good!! Went here Sunday night for dinner, they have limited reservations but the walk process is quick and seamless. We sat at a table in there outdoor seating next to the restaurant and it was sooo warm( it was 25 degrees out)!! The oysters were incredible and they had unique cocktail sauce & jalapeรฑo mignotte. You MUST get the spicy tamarind mezcal margarita, and many of them. Definitely will be coming back here!!

Visiting Thai Diner for dinner has been one of the best
Visiting Thai Diner for dinner has been one of the best restaurants and overall food experiences I've had in a long time -- rocketed to the top of my fav restaurants list and here's why...The theme: I'm a sucker for a restaurant with not only a strong but unique theme, Thai + diner, two of my favorite things and they do it really well without it feeling tacky. The food: I did ~ extensive ~ research on what to order beforehand (thanks Yelp!) and that resulted in a 10/10 experience with no bad bites -- we skipped the khao soi and crab fried rice for example because we saw consistent reviews saying it was just okay.So what we did order:- Disco fries aka massaman curry crinkle fries like a Thai poutine, YUM the bites with the peanut especially so good- Phat see ew w/ fried chicken, yall you must order that fried chicken!! so juicy and crisp yet tender, had I not read reviews beforehand I likely wouldn't have realized to order it- Cabbage rolls in tom kha soup, could definitely have used more tom kha (which is a favorite of mine in Thai cuisine), while most items on the menu are heavy this felt like a nice departure and had lots of flavor- Banana pudding w/ lotus crunch...I am still thinking about this dessert and how dang good it was, please order it you will be happy! The service: everyone was so kind and positive and what stood out to me was the quick support whether in always making sure our waters were filled or multiple staff members willing to help at one time- Pro tip: reserve a spot on Resy, they open a week ahead so that's how I was able to score a Saturday night seat for 2

Came by for dinner because I had to try the Yum Kai Hua Pli sandwich ($15) after seeing it on IG. The decor is visually striking and inviting. The service was fantastic. The sandwich was everything I thought it would be and more. It's very spicy so caution if that's not your thing. I'll definitely be back after this excellent first visit.

Best place for visiting we enjoy it during friend group Trip we eat drink stay party pick and drop to visiting places we enjoy it
Incredibly arrogant staff. No greeting, no sense of even recognizing that you actually want to spend you money at their worn down shack. I was looking for a simple, quick place to have lunch around 1 pm on a Tuesday. Went up to the door to ask if they had a table for one or even just a spot at the bar. Got no answer from the hostess. She just asked me to wait outside in 30 degrees weather for some "check-in" while another single customer got seated at the bar right away. I've eaten in over 2.000 restaurants all over the world. I know when to call BS. This place qualifies for the worst kind of bad there is. A staff that just doesn't care... Take your money elsewhere.
We were first in line and the rest of my family was waiting in the car to keep warm. The lady said she had a perfect table for 5, so I went to call the rest of my family. Within a minuet, we got back she told us that she gave our table away to the people behind us. Bad management, totally unjust, rude.
