Waited for 30 mins on a Tuesday evening when it was snowing but TOTALLY WORTH IT. Everything from the food to the drinks to service was incredible. We got the disco fries and roti to begin with, both extremely flavorful and delicious. For mains, we had the crab fried rice and khao soi with chicken, both cooked to perfection. My friend also got the martini which he said was quite strong (and our server warned him lol) but still really good. Overall, it was one of the best dining experiences in the city I've had in the last 8 years. Just be prepared to wait for a table, there's a lot of bars close by so you can easily grab a drink somewhere while you wait.

I would come here for vibes/ambiance/good cocktails but if I'm in search of good thai food, I would definitely go elsewhere. Dishes were whitewashed/nothing special.

Excellent food and services .
First time and will definitely return. We tried uncle boon's fried rice excellent. We also had octopus which was excellent as well. For dessert we tried the cheese cake that was excellent. I recommend Thai Diner as the best Thai food in the City! The Ambiance was nice and filled with nice people.

I wanna start off by saying that out of all the restaurants I've been to Thai Diner is my favorite by far Their food is always amazing. The Pad Thai and Pad See Ew are probably some of the best in the city if not that best. The service is usually on top, their servers are really friendly and informative and the staff all around are delightful I also can't get enough of the interior! I love the 50s diner vibe mixed with some East Asian influences!
😍
How isn't this 5 stars.
It's comfy, it's cozy, the service is excellent, the food is fantastic. It's just a perfect place to grab bomb thai.
😍
This place let me charge my dead phone I was so grateful.
Ambiance was lovely. We sat the one of the window tables where it was bright but when you go to the inner seats the lighting is dimmed out with louder music. The toast with Thai butter was so savory. Phat see ew was a little different from other places where it was slightly bitter from the vegetables. The burger had a lot going on. I could taste fish sauce and the burger itself was unique but too greasy for my liking. The shots were strong!
🤮
I picked up food from Thai Diner a couple of days ago.
I was in the area for shopping and thought I'd pick up food to take home instead of waiting for a long delivery somewhere else, as it was getting quite late. They have good ratings and also are associated with Uncle Boons, so all the more reason to try them out.The staff at the window were rude and unhelpful. There was a stack of menus but they wouldn't let me look at them, I had to use the QR code on my phone. After I ordered, I wasn't allowed to sit at any of the empty stools at the bar, or empty tables/chairs inside or outside, while waiting for my food. It was a freezing cold night and I had to wait on the dark street a bit down the street (as a lone female on a pretty desolate Chinatown street at that time of the night), until I got a text saying my food was ready.I'd ordered Khao Suey and lamb laab. Both were beyond underwhelming (and overpriced). The laab didn't taste like laab - it was very fatty and greasy, lacked the fresh herbs and toasted sticky rice powder that authentic laab has (Som Tum Der and Dhom both have much tastier laab). It was filled with slices of cucumber which didn't go well with it, and also some pickled cabbage which could have theoretically cut the fatty taste, but ended up being a disgusting combo taste. The Khao Suey "sauce" was ok and that was it - the dish overall was bland and not good. Soothr and Little Myanmar have much better Khao Suey. Next time I'll stick to my East Village restaurants. Better food, and actually pleasant staff.

I came to Thai Diner for brunch on a Wednesday at noon.
I had a reservation for three which I made around a week in advance (although I read you can come without one on weekdays I just did not feel like risking it.) We got there right on time and were seated in this very nice booth in a corner. I was not super sure what to expect regarding the ambiance but I really liked it! It felt very casual, and had a very palpable "diner" feel with all the booths/ the decorations while keeping a strong Thai restaurant vibe at the same time-- I thought that was truly special and unique. Our really nice server came by with menus. They have a pretty straightforward selection with items for both breakfast (that are served until 5pm) and then dinner. For drinks, my boyfriend ordered an americano (since their bottomless coffee is only on weekends) and his brother got a thai ice coffee which they both really liked. In terms of food we had: Thai Disco Fries: I am not typically a fries person but these were actually amazing! They come with some massaman curry at the bottom, delicious grilled onions, and peanuts. The combination of the potatoes soaked in the creamy, rich, coconuty curry is amazing. The grilled onions also give it an extra dimension of flavor that is very good and everything goes well together mixed with the crunchy peanuts and scallions on top. They had a nice spicy kick from the curry! Keep this in mind if you have a low tolerance for spice (you can probably quench the heat with a refreshing thai tea though!) Truly, if fries always tasted like this, I would definitely eat them every day of my life. Thai Diner Egg Sandwich: amazing as well. The roti was buttery, and flaky. The egg was perfectly cooked and covered with a layer of that yellow American cheese that makes anything seem like a guilty pleasure. It came with really well flavored sausage as well and this really nice creamy white sauce that had basil in it. There is a citrus red sauce that comes with it which really ties it all together very well and highlights all the flavors. I was a fan of this sauce and thought the sandwich was definitely better with it than without but it is worth trying it both ways to see what you prefer! Phat See Ew: got this with chicken. The flavor was very good for this dish, it had a nice sauce that was not too rich but had the perfect level of umami/sweet. I was not too much of a fan of the noodles themselves since they were a little overdone and did not feel as chewy as I am used to. However, the chicken was actually fantastic. I feel like usually when you add a protein to a dish it tends to just be okay (chicken can be dry, bland, etc) but this was so flavorful, tender and juicy while maintaining a crispy skin. Wish I had just ordered extra chicken on the side because it was that good. Thai Tea Babka French Toast: delicious, as you might expect. The babka is soft, a little sweet, and grilled to perfection. You get a side of Thai Tea flavored butter that actually has a very strong thai tea flavor without being too sweet. Then you also get this really nice extra topping of salted condensed milk that was delicious because, again, it was not as sweet as you might imagine and had the delicious signature flavor of condensed milk. This was definitely one of my favorite dishes of the day! My only comment is that for me temperature gradients can be important under some contexts and I did not get that as much here-- the condensed milk was warm/hot and I feel like this dish would have been even better with cold condensed milk to have a more striking contrast with the warm french toast. Besides from this, it was perfect and I will most definitely get this again in the future. Overall, I truly loved this place! I want to come back already. The ambiance is super cute and unique, the service was excellent, and the food was incredible. If you want to get a good brunch that is a deviation from traditional American brunch spots, definitely come here. You will not regret it.

Tasty Thai spot with fusion options
Some of the best Thai food I’ve had. Came here on a Saturday around 11:45 and there was a 20 minute wait. When we left, there was a much longer line, so I would encourage you to either get a reservation or come earlier. We got the following for the four of us: Thai Tea Babka French toast: this was delicious. It had a Thai tea butter, condensed milk, and dragon fruit on top of a rich babka that came in four pieces. Laab with fried chicken: you have the choice of also getting mushrooms or minced pork, but I think fried chicken is the right call. The dressing had a slightly sour/spicy taste which was interesting and it also came with sticky rice. This was my favorite dish. Kaeng Kieow Waan: this was a duck leg with rice noodles and a green curry sauce that wasn’t too spicy. My friends all loved this one. Crab fried rice: good dish to have as a side. They included a spicy sauce on the side if you want to up the ante, but the rice also has enough flavor on its own. Ice cream sundae: this popped up as one of the best desserts in New York according to the Infatuation, and though it was good, I don’t see how this would be any different from other sundaes. There was a ton of whipped cream on top (more so than the coconut gelato) and it came with candied peanuts and toasted coconut. Indoor and enclosed outdoor seating available. Two single occupant restrooms available inside. Up to two credit cards accepted per table.

Atmosphere: typical Thai setting. Service: OK. Food: OK
My friend and I stumbled on this place, because the famous Deli I wanted to go to had a line a mile long with a wait. It was getting late in the afternoon and we were hungry. Never make discussions when hungry LOL. Seemed good, I looked up reviews and the place was crowded. We got a seat for 2 inside, very crammed with uncomfortable seating. Service was spotty, waited a bit for even someone to acknowledge us. Menu not the typical Thai offering. We ordered a couple beers while perusing the menu. We decided on the Tom Yum Soup (that had shrimp wontons in it), Sticky Rice and Shrimp Pad Thai. When the soup arrived, nothing like what I’ve ever seen, broth, tomatoes and a few tiny dumplings with no taste. Pad Thai was OK, had a different taste, maybe the dried shrimp in sauce. The Sticky Rice Ok too (weirdly wrapped up in plastic wrap to untangle it free). We asked if they had pickled hot peppers as a condiment, didn’t realize there was an extra charge (would be nice to tell us). Just a very OK restaurant. Atmosphere: typical Thai setting. Service: OK. Food: OK

Came for the amazing banana pudding. Overall Visit was so-so
I heard so much about the banana pudding here and I have to say it didn't disappoint. First of all the smell in the place is amazing and I can imagine that the food is just as good. The initial hostesses who greeted us were extremely nice and helpful with constant smiles on their faces. The reason why I gave this restaurant the rating I did was because of our server. I guess since we just wanted to order the banana pudding he felt as though he wouldn't receive a good tip. When he asked what we wanted to order his face showed that he was irritated. Then from there I counted at least 6 times he came to our table to see if we either wanted to order anything else or if we were leaving. It turned into an uncomfortable situation. Once the check came the bill was about $12. I paid with a $20 and when he asked if I needed change and I told him no his whole demeanor changed to a positive one. Very upsetting to treat patrons that way.
The food at this buzzing place is amazing. Be sure to book. The receptionist was extremely grumpy and on the point of being rude. The servers were polite. I would visit again for the food.
This is fusion done right! I have to give the owners credit for fusing Thai food and American diner food together, since it wouldn't be the first combination I would have thought up myself. The place is a bit pricey, but it is SO worth the money you shell out. They have traditional Thai dishes as well as fusion dishes, such as Thai tea French toast, disco fries (fries with curry and peanuts), pad thai with fried chicken, and many other options. There is indoor seating as well as outdoor seating, and the mixing of the Thai and diner asthetic is so creative. I can keep going on about this place, but check it out if you can!

Crispy Chicken Pad Thai - 7/10I really enjoyed how
Crispy Chicken Pad Thai - 7/10I really enjoyed how flavorful this pad thai was and it was just the right amount of sweet and sour. The chicken was also delicious as it was perfectly crispy and juicy. BUT I had to dock points because of it's price and quantity.Crab Fried Rice - 7/10Honestly I also really enjoyed this crab fried rice. There was big pieces of crab and the sauce on the side was magnificent! But I did find some pieces of crab shell and the price is just too steep for the quantity. These two dishes came out to 60 after tip and tax So while it was delicious I'm not sure if I would be back

Although Thai Diner has a couple traditional Thai dishes, much of their menu merges traditional diner foods (fries, wraps, sandwiches, fried chicken, etc.) with Thai flavors. I think their authenticity really shines through both their flavors and their atmosphere/decor. We've gone 3 times, and on the most recent trip we ordered the Thai Diner Egg Sandwich, Thai Disco Fries, and Pad Thai with Fried Chicken. On each occasion every dish was executed well. Most of their tables are for 2, so it's significantly hlarder to get a table for 3+ (1-2 hours) vs. 15-45 minutes for 2.

While I've had the opportunity of getting take out Thai
While I've had the opportunity of getting take out Thai diner (and some of the dishes originally from the uncle boons restaurants), I hadn't had the chance to come in to the restaurant today when a lunch reservation popped up on Resy and I quickly snagged it. The in-person experience was incredible. We started off with the lamb laab and I think that was the dish that surprised me the most. The amount of flavor packed in here is something I have not found elsewhere, and the lamb really makes it unique. This was the spiciest dish we got and happily slurped our Thai iced teas afterwards. The stuffed cabbage was unexpected as well in that I'd never think to find it on a Thai restaurants menu, but it was truly quite good. If you're thinking cabbage? Here? Think again. I'd been slacking on my veggies so a side of the pea shoots were ordered as well and honestly, you should definitely get these. Perfectly cooked, perfect sauce, actually addictive. To satisfy the sweet tooth, we did order the babka French toast as well, and wow is that thing rich. Like INTENSE rich. I was genuinely impressed at how melt in your mouth soft it was and how it tasted basically exactly like our Thai teas in babka form. That being said, a couple bites was all I needed. Get one to share!

It was just a 30 min wait for a table for 3 on a Friday, and this spot lives up to alllll the hype. Incredible cocktails -- loved the Hi-So and love potion shot and even more incredible? The food. You really should get the disco fries and fried chicken Laab. Our server was wonderful and I cannot wait to come back here as soon as humanly possible!

Must order is definitely Crab Fried Rice.
Overhyped place for meshing Thai cuisine with American diner vibes. Shared a roti with my friend while I ordered the crab fried rice for myself.Crab fried rice didn't disappoint -- the other reviewers were right. The portion was pretty good for the price. I was able to pack it to go as a meal for the next day.

Loved the vibes of this restaurant for catching up with an old friend or for dinner with a group! I've been wanting to try it since hearing it was from the Uncle Boon's teamI would say the shrimp wonton soup was a little sour for me, but the pad siu and the laksa curry we got were delicious.I do want to try their breakfast sandwich at some point soon! They only serve it until 5 pm though so will have to come back.

I had to wait a while to be seated , but it was well worth it. I suggest making reservations no matter what day it is . I wanted to keep it a simple dinner . I chose the khao mun gai, Thai style fried chicken with rice and two sauces . Everything was great. For dessert I chose the guava cake which was great as well . Hope you enjoy it's worth the wait!
.went back and somehow every additional dish tried was also delicious. Wow, mango sticky rice dessert. Resturant was friendly even when super busy the hostess was kind, even when letting us know we needed a full party to be seated and Rosalie helped us to pick our meal ( great new choices of pad thai fried chicken, mussels, and MANGO STICKY RICE). Saw Jung who actually recognized me after one visit which I think speaks to the amazing hospitality of Thai Diner. Definitely coming back for thirds!
