Check your charged amount once it posts - deceitful practice
I’ve eaten here before and the food is very good but the service has a lot to be desired. I was very disappointed that the server changed the amount of the tip I left. For the fair service I left a 15% tip, it was changed to 18% which was on top of the tax and extra 3% they added for the use of charge cards.

Awful. Not even close to authentic. Server had terrible attitude. Caused an injury. Sprayed floor then table with dirty bleach rag. ViLE

Too expensive and have had better Thai out of a frozen box. I dont know how people can afford to spend this much on food that isn't even on pay to a basic Thai place. Been in Asheville for 25 years and it just gets worse.
Be the first to ReplyAverage Thai Food
We haven't tried this place before and we were excited for some good Thai food. Unfortunately, we will choose to go elsewhere when we want Thai again. For the price point, the food and service was just not where it needed to be for us to come back. The server was very friendly, but the service was incredibly slow and one person in our group did not receive their entree for several minutes after everyone else- the server was stretched so thin, she forgot about it and we had to remind her to bring his entree out. We felt like the food was average- the portions were decent, and there are certainly better options at cheaper price points in Asheville.
Be the first to ReplyWas the usual chef off for the day? Normally this is a favorite, but our meal was not up to par.
So disappointing. We made a point of going here after the holidays to get a break from all of the Christmas foodstuffs at the house. Family tradition is to go out for Thai food when we return from trips or after major holidays. And this is place is usually one of our favorites. We have been here a few times. But today’s visit was a disaster. Let’s start with the server. We were seated, but it was a long long wait before we saw a menu. We did not see the server hustling around at other tables; we just didn’t see him at all. It is a small restaurant and is easy to see all the tables from our table. I am absolutely 100% forgiving when a server is hustling. A nice busy restaurant with other patrons and a server who is really bustling around is something that I totally respect. It’s when the server is completely absent and nowhere to be seen that I feel that the service is less than up to standard. Every once in a while he would deliver something to a table and then just disappear! Which gave the tables no opportunities to ask for things like water or to ask how the meal was coming. After we received our menus and ordered, it was a long wait for the meals. We could see the other table starting to get a little agitated as well. If we have been told it would be a long wait (they were understaffed or something was happening) then we would have settled in and been able to plan our day, but he never returned to the table and so we never got to ask him how long it would be for our meal. Later, we heard him arguing with a coworker when they came in to work. I don’t know if it was the owner or somebody else, but they were having quite a heated discussion that our table could hear about somebody not showing up or somebody not doing their job. It was a bit embarrassing. I understand staff shortages due to Covid! All I’m wanting is for somebody to explain that it’s going to be a long wait. And then we can make a decision whether we would like to stay or whether we had plans and needed to go. As it was, we were there for about 2 1/2 hours and we had to rearrange other plans. We would’ve asked for the food to go, but again, we could not find our waiter. I do understand Covid shortages! I just want to know ahead of time to plan. Some restaurants have big signs outside asking to be patient because they are understaffed. Or the server or host will tell you when you walk in. And then we would have probably gone elsewhere that day, because we had other plans in the afternoon with family. I greatly sympathize with Covid shortages! Onto the food. We have ordered these exact dishes at this exact restaurant before, and this time they tasted totally different! They were both covered, and I mean covered, in chili flakes. When we asked for extra spice we expect it to be something subtle and gorgeous, like Thai chilies cooked into the sauce, not just chili pepper flakes dumped onto the food. I have never seen this many chili flakes before ever, at any Thai restaurant. See photos. We also ordered the fried calamari and it was very different from the first time we had it. This time it was thick and clumpy and lots and lots of deep fried bread. again see photos My only assumption here is that the chef was either out or the owner wasn’t there or the owner showed up at the end of our meal (somebody who worked there showed up and ran in and seemed like they were upset at the end of our meal, so it could’ve been another server or one of the owners or a chef?) But this was not the food nor the service that we are accustomed to at this restaurant.
Be the first to ReplySome good, some not so good
We went with a group of six, one of which has dietary restrictions that this place is very good about honoring. We liked our food, but all of us were put off by the fact that we ordered our dishes mild, but they came topped with lots of red pepper flakes. The tofu is really good. The spring rolls are not good. Portions are generous. I would probably go back.

Food poisoning!!!!!! My husband and I are both healthcare professionals and approx 10 hours after eating Thai Pearl we both became violently ill. Beware that eating here will cost you an urgent treatment visit for fluids after you been up all night throwing up.

This was the most authentic Thai we have had since being in Thailand over 20 years ago. One bite of their green papaya salad put me right back to Chaing Rai! The curries have layers of deliciousness and a complexity that you don't find in Americanized Thai restaurants, Pad Thai was mouth watering. Absolutely don't miss and we will keep coming back every time we are in Asheville!

What a cute place. I did take out. The portions are very large. So delicious. I'm gonna get three meals out of two dishes. I highly recommend this Thai restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyTries hard to please
This Thai-owned eatery on busy Haywood Road opened just when the pandemic hit. Happily it has managed to stay open, and it does its best to please guests, though staffing issues mean that dishes don't always come out when expected. Portions are large. Prices are a little higher than you might expect.
On recent visits, we liked the Pad Thai. The Thai-style fries and Thai onion rings are interesting. Our order of fried calamari looked great but the breading was a little heavy and the squid was a bit rubbery. A plus: You can enjoy a Singha Thai beer here, or choose a local craft beer.
Unusual these days is that Thai Pearl is open daily for both lunch and dinner. There's (sometimes) street parking and a small lot behind the restaurant. Nearby are a couple of pay lots -- you'll probably need a cell phone to pay.
We won’t be back,
My husband got a carry out order for three of us on Sunday evening and it was not good.
The Tom Kha Gai soup was fairly good, but lacked the cream that you usually have in that soup..
The worst dish was the Shrimp Pad Thai. It was truly the worst we have ever had. It had brown limp noodles with no flavor.
The secret Wife Stir fry was not bad tasting, but it looked like it had been cooked the day before and warmed up on Sunday. Terrible looking.
We wonder if they had a substitute chef working that day.
Awesome food (takeout)
My husband and I got takeout from this restaurant for dinner and we loved it! We were also very happy with how quickly it was ready: only about 20 minutes! Very large portions, so you get a good value and amount for what you pay.

Thai Pearl is a great new restaurant in West Asheville! I enjoyed the ambience and the food was awesome!!
Krista was the only wait staff and she definitely had her hands full, but she did a great job! I will definitely go again when in Asheville.
Pad Thai
Pad Thai was very good. Excellent flavor. A tad sweet, but that could be my personal taste speaking. Also, I like that when you ask for it to be spicy hot, you get what you ask for.
Great Thai!
Excellent Thai
My family and I were in Asheville for the day and were looking for something special to eat, no chains. We looked on trip advisor and found this awesome Thai place. The red curry and kids noodles were excellent. Pad Thai was a little dry but still tasted great when we added some hot sauce. We highly recommend if you love Thai food. We will definitely return!

We were looking for a Thai restaurant, and we found a real gem! Fresh ingredients, healthy, VERY generous portions, and the staff was great. The only problem is we live in Raleigh…but, we will be back the next time we are in town. West Asheville, you are lucky to have this gem!
Be the first to ReplySO MUCH FOOD!!
My husband & I stopped in after the place we had planned to go was closed. What a find!! Great service and by the time we left the restaurant was full! I had a noodle bowl and my husband had red curry which was a rice dish. We could only eat half of each. You can choose your protein and heat! 🔥 We also had their onion rings for an app and they were fabulous! We highly recommend and will be back!
Be the first to ReplyMediocre
We went to Thai Pearl restaurant, last night. We had ordered take out, once, and it was
awful We decided we would give them another try. The service is terrible and the food mediocre. They have a spring roll with cheese in it. I don't think they use cheese in Thai cooking, so much for authenticity. Also, if you are going to pay cash, check your bill. They add 3 per cent to the bill for credit card use. If you don't check, you may overpay. Not a place we would go back to.
