I fell in love with this place before Covid lockdowns.
It was a good brunch place I was most looking forward to when we were able to again. It was cute and country looking inside. Unfortunately too much had changed. The service was terrible. I was completely ignored and hardly anyone was there. It was later in the day and the potatoes looked like the leftover ones that had sat in the pan forever. They hardly gave me any. I waited for service and kept eating my eggs. I finally waved down the waiter who was indifferent. I asked for the manager and she said - well you ate most of them so we won't give you more. I told her that I didn't. That it looked like they scraped the last in the pan and that was all I was given. She was incredible rude and basically just asked me to leave. Which I did and never went back. I'm not surprised they are permanently closed.

Diner quality food, but not diner level prices. Service and ambiance nice.

They have tables and spots at the bar to eat. Have been here a few times and each time it never disappoints! The only negative is waiting until 9am for them to open on the weekend.

Good if you're looking for a relatively no-frills cafe that serves a tasty brunch. This was exactly what we were in the mood for today, and it hit the spot. I ordered the bluebell breakfast (2 eggs any style-mine over easy, sausage, bacon, a biscuit, and home fries with red peppers and onions) and it was great -- quality ingredients, crispy bacon, delicious biscuit slathered with butter and a rich berry jam, perfectly cooked potatoes. My partner got the smoked salmon Benedict and was similarly satisfied. The staff are kind and efficient. They serve brunch until 4; we were there at 3 and the space was mostly empty.

Last week I stopped to have the soup and salad special for lunch. Potato Leek soup and BLT. The soup was insipid and there was hardly any taste of leeks. The toasted bread of the sandwich was dry because there was no butter or mayonnaise spread on the slices. Unlike in Europe, the bread slices here are usually bare and are unappetizing. Added to this the bacon didn't taste fresh. A waste of moneyBluebell Cafe usually has delicious food so this was a sad surprise.

This is our favorite restaurant! The food is always delicious and the service friendly. It's a great neighborhood place with a warm atmosphere. You can actually talk to the people you're with because the music is just background and doesn't overwhelm conversation.

Cute little breakfast spot! It gives off a very homey vibe which I really liked on a rainy Sunday morning. It does get packed very quick, so I would recommend coming before 10 AM. The pancakes were super fluffy, the breakfast plate was also very filling and super tasty.

The line was short, thank God. The food was terrific. But it was freezing inside, and my friend and I weren't too happy that people who arrived after us received their food first. Wasn't to happy about that last part so not sure if we'll be back but might be

My friend lives in the neighborhood and Bluebell is one of her go to breakfast spots. They don't take reservations so we got here bright and early just after 9 on a Saturday. My friend was surprised that it wasn't more crowded because apparently it usually is. Most of us ordered the "bluebell breakfast," one person got the crab Benedict and I ordered a pancake for the table to share. The food was pretty good, especially with the bluebell breakfast costing only $15. The biscuits were nice and buttery. The Benedict could have used more béarnaise sauce but all in all a nice meal.

Back in May 2022 I sent my parents and in-laws for breakfast at Bluebell Cafe after hearing amazing things. Everyone who ate there had a not to stellar experience. The food was dry. The bacon was chewy and burnt . Burnt fries. Not sure what happened that day to this restaurant but the experience was not good.

I live in the neighborhood and for many years come to this restaurant for weekend brunch. I generally order the French toast with a small order of blueberries and bananas. The blue berries and bananas charge was always three dollars. They charged six dollars. I mentioned the discrepancy to the waiter and he called the manager. I told her about the difference and also said I don't want any money back it's just about the principal. She began to argue with meand cursed me out, fuck you she said . This is not about the three dollars this is about this woman's escalating the situation to a disrespectful and shameful point. They have anger management classes for these people.

Only had mulled wine here but it was a lovely experience! $11 for a glass of delicious mulled wine, fast service. They didn't pressure us to get any food which was appreciated since we had come from brunch at another spot and weren't hungry. We just wanted a glass of wine. :) the mulled wine was spiced very well, served hot, and was perfect for a chilly NYC winter day. I'd love to come back in the future and try their food!
Be the first to ReplyGreat little brunch place.
I'd give the blueberry pancakes a 5/5, the omelette (not overdone, yay) a 4.5/5, and the toast/potatoes/mimosa a 4/5 (nothing too remarkable, overall tasty).

Gramercy has plenty of brunch spots, but this one takes the cake. Got the Brioche French Toast; It was divine. It was toasted to perfection, and was complemented really well by the lemon curd. Bellini was a nice punchy cocktail but the iced cake coffee fell a bit short of my expectation. Good quick service and pleasant ambience.
Be the first to ReplySuper friendly waitress.
Always very quick and attentive. The food is wholesome and REAL and presented beautifully. My salmon with veg and potatoes felt like it restored my batteries. Their soups, burgers, and meat entrees are delicious. They have a lovely atmosphere and never rush you. In the corporate-restaurant desert of the Kips Bay Beer Bros area, Bluebell is a total gem.
Be the first to ReplyVery relaxed vibe, no frills but great bar/brunch.
Great food and such friendly service. Will definitely be back for my next brunch in Gramercy.

The tomato soup was excellent. They have some good selections to choose from.

My boyfriend and I went to the Bluebell Cafe on a Sunday for brunch. We were surprised how busy it was and took it as a good sign. We ended up sitting at the bar because it was so busy. The staff members that we interacted with were nice and the food was good. We had the avocado toast, blueberry pancakes, and the breakfast with eggs, sausage, bacon, home fries, and a biscuit. The biscuit in particular was delish.

I had a pickup order with the place 11am Sun and it came out so quick! I ordered Brioche French Toast and the lady on the phone said "it'll be ready in 10-15 mins." Happy surprise, I had to be in a hurry to change and almost run to the cafe. A young lady of their staff was so friendly getting me my order. The French Toast was places nicely in a bag, with sufficient amount of syrups and butters. Except for the hip vibe you can get at the cafe, I suppose nothing else was different from dining in experience.
