This dinner was on Sept 15, 2022.
The food was delicious, our server Zoe was professional and very efficient although two of us felt that she was forcing it too much - "over-exuberant" as it were and almost pushy with the menu descriptions, rules and regs - seemed like maybe she was relatively new and did not want to screw up anything with management. If you had to sum it up she couldn't really read the table too well in terms of our knowledge of food, wine or the menu (we told her we had already looked carefully online) and of course despite the slight uncomfortable feeling she gave two of us, we would prefer her type of service over the many lackadaisical severs out there. If she could tone it down a tad it would be nicer. We did love how she brought samples of some wines on her own and of the liqueur in one of the drinks so we could be sure what we ordered was was we wanted to imbibe. We realize that chefs feel that they season perfectly so they do not want to put salt and pepper out on the table for everyone, however for a place the caliber of The Bristol it would be nice to at least have a cute miniature bowl with kosher salt with a tiny spoon available when folks ask for salt. Totally get that you are afraid they will get stolen off the table if they are there all of the time. The chittara pasta sounded better than it tasted - it was okay in flavor but not fantastic like most items there. It needed acidity and salt to brighten the flavors. The endive salad was amazing - the shishitos and shishito sauce/dressing below the endive was full of flavor with some nice spice and the whipped cheese rocked. A nice portion as well. The porcelet on the early bird dinner menu was too small a portion as well and also needed salt. The agnolotti were great as well as the tempura maitake entree and the corn ice cream cone which our server was able to get for us even though it was not on the a la carte menu. The early bird tasting menu portion for the Basque Cake dessert was way too small...had we known we probably would not have ordered it and instead gone a la carte...it needs to read "mini" on the menu so people (especially those who have ordered it in the past) know it is so tiny. Great dinner - very pricey but worth it every once in a while!

We came for the $65 early bird dinner, which you can get through 6pm. We were surprised at the quality, taste, and good portion size. Definitely don't leave hungry even with 4 courses. The corn soup was a stand out!

this is easily one of the top 5 tasting menus that I've had in Chicago, and I suggest you get here ASAP. Tonight I'm at The Bristol which has been a unique seasonal contemporary restaurant since 2008. We tried their Midwest Summer Eight Course Tasting Menu along with a Wine Pairing for each dish. They have a real sommelier that will come and explain the reason why he chose each wine to be paired with the specific dish which was so interesting to identify when eating. I do have to say that this was the first tasting menu besides Maple & Ash that actually filled me up and I didn't leave hungry. Truly a fantastic experience with really good high quality food, and you should definitely save room for dessert because their Sweet Corn Ice Cream Cone left me speechless and was one of the best ice creams I've ever had and didn't know I was missing it in my life.

Everything about The Bristol was 5 stars! We came for our one year wedding anniversary and the service was exceptional. Our server as well as the manager checked on us and were lovely. We had the 8 course tasting menu and a few cocktails and everything was great. A few dishes weren't to our taste but they were unique and we still enjoyed trying them. We were beyond stuffed by the end! Our favorites were the mushroom tea and the pesto pasta. Highly recommend for a special treat!

Another wonderful dinner from Chef Larry Feldmeier! I have been following him since he was at The Albert, and every meal has been consistently wonderful. This was my first time not ordering the tasting menu, and every item was craveable, esp the corn bisque! This might have been my favorite part of the meal. The pea and ricotta pasta was wonderful as expected as Chef's pasta dishes are always a star on the menu. The basque cake was deliciously buttery, and the sorbet was the perfect compliment! I can't wait to come back! They did seem a bit short staffed, but our wonderful waitress pushed through it and made sure we had a great night! The food deserves a Michelin star, so hopefully Chef will have one soon!

Dined at The Bristol for the first time during Restaurant week. All courses were excellent but I especially enjoyed the farro risotto with pesto - unique and rustic flavor. The short rib melted in mouth. And the basque cake paired with the sherbet was a wonderful combination of complementary flavors. Our party of 8 enjoyed all dishes. Service was excellent.
Be the first to ReplyLoved every minute of the meal.
Service was outstanding. Wine pairing was right on. Over indulged I'm sure. Thankful for pleasant weather and a leisurely walk home.

came here for restaurant week and had a very good experience. first course was a wonderful salad, then shrimp pasta, then the beef short rib which was fantastic, highly recommended trying this little spot out
Be the first to ReplyDon't come here expecting to order off of the menu.
The Bristol is designed from head to toe to be a dining experience. Instead - they offer a smaller and larger tasting menu. As a treat for ourselves, my husband decided to indulge and did the larger tasting menu - all small portions with big taste. Every dish served was described and explained to us by our extremely competent and knowledgable waiter.I won't even go into what was served because they change the menu to fit the season every 3 months. So if you go back the next season, you'll experience something completely different! We also decided to do the wine pairing option with the meals. It was fun to see what was paired - some I absolutely loved and will be ordering. Thank you very much! While it's a more "casual" environment - we saw folks in dressy jeans, etc. - the food itself is anything but. So spoil yourself and try this gem of a place!

Visited twice now, once as a larger party celebrating a birthday and once for restaurant week. The best entree was the short rib- some of the best meat I have eaten in my life. Melt in your mouth heaven. There is some variation in the menu depending on season and I've enjoyed the starters and small plates each time. Some of what you are paying for is the ambiance, I don't think this is a place to order to go. The dishes are visually stunning and sometimes interactive (the waiter poured our soup into the bowl at the table). Also the cocktails are lovely and the wine selection is substantial. Good for a date night or special occasion, would not recommend for children.
Be the first to ReplyThe food and drinks were amazing.
The salmon tartare was spectacular as well as the bread. The service this day was particularly slow which was a little frustrating. They threw in a couple of desserts to make up for it.

This is the second time that I've dined here and I have to say that this place really is a 5 star place! Everyone on staff & the food were outstanding. The vibe was excellent, as well. If they have a Mother's Day brunch offering, my brother, my mom and I would be sure to come back! Thank you for a wonderful Easter brunch experience.
Be the first to ReplyWe had an amazing Easter brunch experience here.
Everything was excellent. Although upscale, my 5 year old daughter had a great time also.I had an ommlette and mimosa, my husband had a muesli and cider and my daughter had the hotcakes and sausage. All excellent. I wish they were open for brunch regularly.

Had a truly amazing gastronomy experience at this Bucktown gem. The food presentation was stunningly beautiful and the food was melt in your mouth good. The staff was extremely welcoming and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!!!
Be the first to ReplyI recently moved to Milwaukee after living in San Francisco
I recently moved to Milwaukee after living in San Francisco for 25 years and I must say this dining experience ranks up with the very best, including The French Laundry and Chez Panisse. The 8-course tasting menu was nothing short of inspired. The chef used unique, seasonal and local ingredients like salsify, kohlrabi and Buddha's hand (ok, that's not local, but you get the idea). I had the vegetarian and my boyfriend enjoyed the carnivore version and both were simply amazing. The pacing (nearly 3 hours) was perfect! And the service was top-notch. My absolute favorite dish was salsify prepared 3 ways, and I'd never even heard of this root vegetable! If I had to complain about something, it would be the table full of drunk, loud people nearby. They (almost) ruined my near-perfect Saturday night. Money absolutely well spent!

It's a SPECIAL DAY AT @bristolchicago Bucktown, Chicago IL @midwestmunching on instagramWe've wanted to try this spot for a while, especially because it's so close to us. The laid-back setting and energetic vibe + brick x leather gave us such a cozy and fun time! They have an awesome seasonal 8 course tasting menu that featured fall flavors. I would love to try next time we are back, given they update their menu seasonally We weren't too hungry so we just went for the tasting menu. Plus I bet Ben didn't want me to pay too much Biggest highlight was the Maldafine pasta, filled with Cantonese XO sauce, shrimp, and turnip. Perfect to celebrate the Lunar New Year. Curls of the pasta hugged every bit of the sauce. It was perfectly chewy , slurpable with sweet, umami, and savory tastes of heaven. We also got the contemplantary Milk Bread which I didn't think much of but WOW look at my face. The caviar compound butter + crispy g light bread was to die for. Other items include:Short ribs with truffle and sunchoke (not enough flavor) . With potatoes that were to die for. They literally were so crispy on the outside then melted into your mouthPork shoulder & belly with blue corn polenta (a bit dry)Desserts and cocktails were BOMB though;Basque cake - they've made for 20 years, made with. Apple and served with sherbetRice Panna Cotta - super smooth and light, the way that the Japanese would make it. Served with plum, raisin and a super crispy layer of cinnamon. Just WOW nesting dolls - vodka, elderflower, rhinehall la nomande,. VersusWarmth hearth-. Bourbon & persimmon chamomile vermouthhighly highly recommend the pasta, milk bub,, basque cake, and rice Panna Cotta
Be the first to ReplyThis place is pretty cool.
They have nice and good interior design. They have good lighting which is perfect for a romantic date. This place is also best for a bunch of friends or a family dinner since they have a long table. You will need to have a reservation first because everyday there are a lot of customers inside and some tables are vacant. They have a lot of dishes on their menu which are served on a good and pretty plate. Some plating has only a little amount of food. The only problem here is you will not get full easily. But their flavor is unique and very delicious. We enjoy our dinner here. We will be back here next week. I highly recommend this restaurant.

We were recently able to dine here and I can safely say this is one of the best menus I have enjoyed in a long time. From start to finish, each course was satisfying, full of depth in its flavors, and beautifully crafted. Every course was presented beautifully and in a timely manner. This chef definitely knows what he is doing. There were even flavors I do not normally enjoy that worked perfectly because the dishes were so elegantly balanced. If you have the opportunity, definitely check out this comfortable and welcoming and DELISCIOUS restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyThe 8 course tasting menu was amazing.
A huge variety of flavors, not only between dishes, but even within each dish itself. I would highly recommend. The private outdoor greenhouses/igloos were also very very good. We went on a windy, 30 degree night, but inside the greenhouses it was warm enough to not even wear a jacket. Nice and quiet in them, although they do have each of the greenhouses stocked with a bluetooth speaker that you can pair with your phone, if you like some music. I appreciate being able to go out to eat and remain isolated from the other diners, especially right now when COVID cases are so high.
Be the first to ReplyTerrible staff and terribly managed.
Ended up cancelling reservation because we had a reservation for 8:15PM and the table wasn't ready...they said it was about 20 minutes wait? UH?! What's the point of having a reservations than? Their response you can wait outside for the table because they don't have a "waiting area" inside. So...I have to wait in freezing weather?!!! AWEFUL MANAGEMENT!! MUCH better restaurants options in town. Never again.
Be the first to ReplyWe had the tasting menu a few weeks ago.
It was overall OK, but we got hit hard with tart, tangy, sour flavors towards the end (we were half expecting a plate of Warheads with the check). The service could have been a little more upscale for the price. No one was outright rude, but I do generally get warmer receptions from toll booth workers on the highway.
Be the first to ReplyI don't say this lightly.
..everything was outstanding! The food, drinks, service - my family of four thoroughly enjoyed every bite! We even ordered seconds of the milk bread and sesame dessert. Edwin was our server. His knowledge of the menu, clear passion for the food and wine/ drinks only added to the experience. Another server went out of his way to research and write down lunch suggestions for another day. Multiple people checked on us throughout the evening. We didn't opt for the tasting menu but I wouldn't hesitate to try it. Highly recommend! We will be back.
Be the first to ReplyWe were 15 mins early to our 9:00pm reservation so we
We were 15 mins early to our 9:00pm reservation so we took the bar seats, which I thought would be great service. It's now 9:10 and we finally got our first drink. That's 25 mins for a drink since we arrive. The bartender/server didn't seem interested in us from the jump, and hadn't asked if we were doing food or anything, so I interrupted him while he was making a drink (we still hasn't received ours yet) just to order an appetizer. Mind you I had been here for thirty minutes and even previously mentioned what his recommendations were because we were starving. at the time I write this, I have been here for 35 minutes with no food. Update: 40 mins. No food. No one has checked on us... not even the bartender and we are AT THE BAR. and at this point I'm clearly a disgruntled and looking the part.Update again; it's 932. We got our break. Only 47 minutes after arrival. Will update again when dinner comes. OKAY service got MUCH better. I think the bartender realized we were super bummed, and he truly saved the day. Jazz was awesome. He made sure we were fed and had drinks. His drinks were awesome, and he definitely realized the food service was falling behind. Without Jazz at the bar this would have been a 1 star experience. Give that guy a raise. The drinks were amazing
Be the first to ReplyFood was delicious but the portions were ridiculously small.
Apps:The milk bread (comes in a mini loaf of six buns (imagine 4 Hawaiian rolls)) w compound butter was the star of the table (we ordered two as the first one flew). The octopus was a good portion and very good.Pasta:The bucatini and agnolotti were also flavorful but small portions.Dinner:My husband ordered the chicken 'bbq' and it tasted great (Smokey) but he was given a quarter of a leg pc (tiny tiny portion). The halibut was a decent sized portion w a cute presentation of mini zucchini sliced layered on top and a delicious medley of veggies cut into bite sized PCs. The soft shell crab was good too.Dessert:Sesame basque cake (absolutely delicious but again a mini muffin size). Our dinner companions said they had previously had this dessert and it had been way bigger.I understand COVID shortages for supplies but they need to up their game in sizing. The service was fantastic as were the drinks--The Kronos Club was sweeter, the vesper perfectly chilled, the tang (tangy).
