Rude, unprofessional and just weird customer service.
I was literally denied service and I can't believe it lol. The waiter on the section where table service is not available literally told me that i can't sit and drink inside if I order. I walked in to grab latte since it looks like a coffee shop section. She basically said it's a spot for "grab and go kind of thing" while the seats are literally empty. I confirmed with the manager that's not the case.
Be the first to ReplyTremendous meats, education and support.
Lovely people who care about the food that you put on your body!

The pear and pistachio cake was delicious! I also loved my latte (and it looked beautiful, too!)
Be the first to ReplyCame in as a meal out that was "healthier".
Portions are lighter, more fresh ingredients. Service is kind but a bit slow. It was kind of crowded and we came late afternoon on a weekend. Sat at the communal table, it was bit loud. The rosemary aioli and spicy aiolis were good!
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely disgusting.
Ordered the "crab cake sandwich " and the "burgers daughter burger".... Not a crab cake at all. So misleading and gross. A waste of $70!!!!!

Overall pretty good vegan food! We really enjoyed the spicy kale Caesar. The cashew cream on the orecchiette was delicious, could not stop eating it. The carbonara was good, nothing special.
Be the first to ReplyI could probably give 3.
5 stars but since Yelp only does whole stars, I think 3 is fair. The Butcher's Daughter has been on my radar for a while as a New York City area vegan and I was excited to go and try their breakfast. I got the weekend waffles, which were tasty enough but a little overpriced for what they were. The real bummer though was the service. Our server brought us a smoothie we didn't order, overcharged my partner for her coffee, and didn't ring up the side of bacon I ordered and never checked back in on us after dropping off the food so I didn't really have a chance to say anything. All of those things on their own normally don't illicit much of a response from me but together it just made for a bummer of an experience. It was a cute place and I appreciate anywhere that has solid vegan options, but I don't see myself coming back.

Be the first to ReplyIf you are someone with food allergies, in particular
If you are someone with food allergies, in particular gluten, dairy, or nut allergies, this place really is a godsend. You can (sort of) have pancakes again! (although they're def not the best, which I will get to below) Decor: Super cute laidback vibes. Strong Wifi and an easy, sunny place to work early morning. It strikes me as a hipster establishment; I definitely did NOT see other Brown people inside and that made me, as a Brown woman, uncomfortable as I was unsure how I would be treated and if I would be welcome. Well, I've been here twice and...FIRST TIME: Service: normal, friendly. (Second time, terrible!)Went here on a date. We ordered:- BUTCHER'S BURGER: It's a veggie burger and it's DELICIOUS! I ordered mine on GF bread (which was delicious albeit too crumbly and therefore messy), but the accompanying sauces and the chunky sweet potato "fries" were really, really tasty. 5/5! - MUSHROOM AND SQUASH CARBONARA: It tastes like cardboard mush; it is so so bland and so so bad. The hipster waiter told us it was "soooo good"...well honey. He either lied or is one of THOSE people who considers black pepper spicy. DO NOT RECOMMEND. It tastes like cardboard mush which I guess is a flavor, right? 0/5- HIBISCUS TEA: overly sour. 0/5SECOND TIME:Came alone. Service was NOTICEABLY different and BAD. My server barely acknowledged me, was not friendly, and only after returning her poor attitude with one of "I'm not the one" did she straighten up. No maitre-d' greeted me. The one who SAW ME just looked at me and kept hanging out in the back, so I called out to her to MAKE HER COME. Ridiculous. I ordered: GF PANCAKES: I'm torn. Partly good, partly a real disappointment. The flavor is tasty, in particular with the coconut drizzle, berry sauce, candied walnuts, and bananas. (Why not, get all the fixins!)...but texture, everything passed the edges is like soggy mush! It has the texture of uncooked batter. I'm really shocked that an establishment would serve pancakes like this! I was assured this is how they are "supposed to be" but like...why? How? That's GROSS. SUGGESTION: USE SOME BAKING SODA AND BAKING POWDER IN THE BATTER! This will make them lighter and fluffier. 3/5BUTCHER'S BOWL: It is basically big a** bowl of potatoes. There is like one egg, a dollop of spinach, and the vegan bacon they use has no flavor. If you're gonna be vegan, just BE vegan and stop using processed wannabe meat things. This would have been better served w/some beans and actually seasoned caramelized onions, and maybe cook up the entire thing in a bit of veggie bouillon and white wine for flavor points. 2/5I do want to come back to try some of the other food options I haven't been able to eat since developing food allergies. Let's hope they're more tasty!

I usually walk by this spot a lot since it's always so crowded on a corner. I tried once to get a table but was pretty much ignored by the hostess. Second attempt worked on another occasion where I came super early and got a seat outside. The sangria was just meh. I wouldn't get again. I got the butchers bowl which surprisingly was very filling and pretty good. My friend got the pancakes and enjoyed it. The menu is heavily vegan based but I didn't have a problem choosing something from the menu. Prices were a little on the pricier side.
Be the first to ReplyI was really disappointed with this place.
I live a few blocks away and pass by every time so I've been wanting to visit for a while. It wasn't really busy, we got there around 1pm. My friend and i got sat down and never received water until I had to ask for it even though everyone else got water after being seated. I got the acai bowl which was decent but definitely not worth the $14. I also ordered a chai which came a bit late, when I was mostly done with my acai bowl. When the waiter brought my chai, she asked if she could close the check and give me my ticket. I hadn't even had a sip of my drink and it seemed like she was already trying to give us the boot. The food quantity and taste was subpar and the service was similar. Will not be returning again.
Be the first to ReplyI've had this on my list for so long and finally got to try
I've had this on my list for so long and finally got to try it out when I was going to brunch with a vegan friend. There were only two other tables of guest when I went in so I would say it was fairly slow but the service was even slower. I'm not sure if someone was training but she failed to mention all of the items they were out of prior to us ordering which was a little disappointing. However we left extremely happy and with super full bellies. The food was allll sooo delicious, the only thing we didn't like was the crab cake because we don't love curry flavors but that's just specific to us I'm sure they are good. The Cacio E pepe cauliflower & pad Thai were our absolute favorites and I'm still craving it today. I will absolutely be back 1,000 times.
Be the first to ReplyThe food is just amazing.
Our favorite was the cauliflower and the tomato basil soap! The only downfall was the service, was not so great and the drinks. They were ok. But I will definitely return maybe to another location, as this one felt more like a cafe.

My running group had a great time !! Tahoe service was amazing !
Be the first to ReplyWe didn't want to let a moment of being in NYC go to waste
We didn't want to let a moment of being in NYC go to waste so we stopped here for breakfast before we had to leave for the airport. It was a surprisingly lovely day in winter so the patio was open in the morning but it was non-heated. We opted to dine inside just in case since we had our hearts set on ordering cold beverages. We were really hoping for a little health boost before our flight (planes can be yucky) so we attempted to order some elixir shots The Iced Vitality is in the shot section but it's a little confusing because this one is a full sized drink even though its in this section . It's literally a Liquid Vitality shot with a ton more sparkling water and mint to make it fill an entire glass. It was tasty but I was looking for a concentrated shot. I wound up also getting a Liquid Vitality so I could cheers my coworker! The ginger in it is very potent and if you're not a fan it could be overpowering. The main I had was the crab cake benedict which is cleverly made from jackfruit to emulate that flake apart crab meat. If this is your intro to vegetarian food, it's a good one! It still has all the other components of your regular benedict with just a small twist. One thing that I did notice was that the inside of the restaurant is very cleverly decorated. There are a lot of hanging meat hooks and other things you'd find at a butchers but they're all hanging plants! A cute way of representing the the vegetarian vibe of the place.
Be the first to ReplyYellow makes everyone happy.
Even more so when the place you're walking into is yellow and it's The Butcher's Daughter.Made same day reservations for brunch and have no idea how we got in, but we did! We were too hungry to wait for our actual reservation so we got there about 45 minutes earlier. Nothing was available but they did have seats at the bar and that worked just great. It was a snowy Sunday in NYC. Snow was just so beautiful and perfect. The big windows letting the light in while you watched the little flakes make their way down. Somehow you're in a room full of warmth, plants and life. The whole ambiance here is IT.Can we skip to the FOOD part? Yes.The FOOD. Where do I even start? Because I was on this gluten detox thing I can't believe I came to the right place. Side note, we are also vegetarian so double win. Ok. I ordered the Butcher's Pancakes. Mind you...I'm not really a pancake person. I love waffles. However.... THESE PANCAKES. I mean, these RICE FLOUR pancakes are the best I've ever had. They are absolute perfection and come drizzled with an amazing coconut drizzle. You almost could skip the syrup but it's great for dunking. I mean, this was just SOOO good!!!Hubby ordered the Country Breakfast. Impossible sausage, tofu scramble, potatoes..everything was amazing. Could NOT believe that impossible sausage, it definitely tasted homemade and the tofu eggs were out of this world. So many flavors packed into one dish!Thank you Butcher's Daughter for having us. Staff was amazing, food was memorable, experience was unforgettable. Great quaint little yellow happy place with planty things and gluten free, vegetarian, vegan, carnivore, options. Just a happy place for everyone!!!
Be the first to Reply18 dollars for a black bean burger was def not worth it.
Service was fine. Fancy pay out systems but couldn't accept Apple Pay , then you need vaccine proof to sit outside in a booth? I thought that was the point of outdoor seats but hey it is what it is.

I feel like this is a standard/good option for those with dietary restrictions. I don't and I still like the food!I've mostly dined here for brunch and typically stick with the BLAT or the avocado toast. The portions are not huge, but they do the job. On the weekends they do normally have a wait, so try to get there early as alot of people like to squeeze into their outdoor benches. A nice spot in NOLITA if you're looking for a light lunch. 4/5
Be the first to ReplyWe came here for a dinner on a Friday night.
Make sure you snag a reservation online to get a table indoors. It's a pretty small place, but very cozy. I definitely appreciate how casual the vibe was.We ordered the tarine and the orecchiette. Both were stunning! My favorite of the two was the orecchiette - super flavorful and a very decent portion of pasta. I'm used to places skimping on the pasta and pesto quantity, so I was happy with how generous they were. The little bits of "sausage" added some great flavor and texture. For the tarine, we were actually surprised by the appearance of the spaghetti squash. It was made wonderfully and we enjoyed the whole vegetables and rice that the dish came with. Definitely cleaned the plate on this one, too! This has become one of my favorite vegan spots in nyc. It's one you can't miss out on, and the reasonable prices, cute storefront, and delicious food should be more than enough reason to come.
Be the first to ReplyThe food here is really good and the ambiance is gorgeous.
My only complains might be the really small tables by the window and pancakes being a little too pricey. Otherwise, the food is ABSOLUTLEY delicious!
Be the first to ReplyA cute little spot downtown.
I came here for something small to much on. The zucchini bread blew my mind. You would never be able to tell it's made out of zucchini and tasted like a regular moist cake. The pear and frangipane tart is a great dessert too for tarty fruit lovers.

service was meh- they took awhile to get the checkfood was alright- better suited for people who want vegan options. it was not super flavorful.seating was cramped!
Be the first to ReplyThe one star is because I did think the food and the juices
The one star is because I did think the food and the juices were very good.We had a four person reservation for 145pm on a Sunday and when we arrived it was clear there was nowhere for four people to go. There were two spots at the end of a communal table and 2 spots against a window. However, a lot of people seemed to be done eating or almost done eating- perhaps people just took longer than they expected, not sure. The hostess/server said she'd seat us along the window once the other two people left. Okay great. For some reason two minutes later she decided against that and she forced two extra little stools at the end of the communal table. These seats were basically the same width as the amount of space between the table and the back wall meaning we had to all but crawl over them to get to the two corner seats. This was clearly a spot meant for two(I don't even believe four plates would have fit in the space). This was clearly not ideal but fine since that was the only option. When the group of four next to us left we all just scooted down one spot so that all four of us could actually be at the table and have reasonable table space. With that move there were still a few seats at the table to the right of us and a group of four women at beyond the few empty seats who were clearly getting ready to leave. So there was about to be so much space at this communal table. Our waitress came by a few minutes after we scooted over one seat(so that all four of us were actually seated at the table) and said "I'm sorry but you need to scoot back down because we're about to have a party of five." We said no because it was a ridiculous request and there were seats to the right of us and four women at the other end of the table who could have more easily sat at the end of their end of the table since there was no wall behind them. The party of five wasn't even there yet. A few minutes go by and her superior came over and again told us we needed to move back to being squished up against the wall and coat hooks. We were now more irritated and told her no as well and suggested they make this request to the other group at the other end of the table. They said "no because they're about to leave." Well great that should have been case closed, they're about to leave! But no, even though there would now be 6 open seats at the table(not even using the end of the table) they still were insistent that we squish up against the back wall. The higher up lady even told us we were bringing "bad energy" which was just laughable. I wish I had a photo of the four of us where they initially sat us just to show how ridiculous this was.By the time we left, which was about 15 minutes later, the group of five was seated at the other end of the table with spaces in between us and there was an entire wall of seats by the window open and nobody waiting to be seated.... Still not sure why they were so hell bent on fitting four of us where two people could comfortably fit but it was such a horrendous experience we would never go back. They had zero sense of customer service whether it was preparing for us to arrive by having a spot for four ready to even just asking how our food was, which they never did.Not to mention the entire restaurant was smoky the whole time we were there and the whole space is fairly cramped with only backless stool seating. The atmosphere wasn't an enjoyable one but I could've looked past it had the service been at all a positive experience.
Be the first to ReplyWe went here while I was visiting a friend in New York.
I have a gluten intolerance so we were searching for a restaurant that would have some good gluten free and vegetarian options. There were good options here but I think that the servings were pretty small for the high price. I had the Butcher's Pancakes. They were fine but nothing thrilling about them, I was expecting a little more. The decor was really cute and the staff was all very friendly and helpful. I would definitely consider it if you are looking for some GF and Veg/Vegan options

A friend and I stumbled upon this place for brunch on a Sunday and it looked so cute that we decided to stop. His coffee and my chai were both very good. We both got the Butcher's Bowl, which was delicious and very filling. The harissa aioli was especially noteworthy. I can't wait to come back and try something else!
