Great food and ambience.
We've always had a great experience. We're particularly fond of the octopus appetizer.

It's fun to leave the Bronx and drive up to Westchester and see what they have. I never know really where to look. Quick search of the best restaurants of Westchester had this pop-up. It looked quaint and cute and it's in Dobbs Ferry, so how can you go wrong. An adorable little neighborhood. So we went in. Not a huge menu but a really well attended to menu. And excellent staff. The bartender was an incredibly gracious and sweet young lady whose personality just made the meal all the better. We have a limited diet choices because of salt and meat avoidance but they had enough for us to eat. The homemade mozzarella was just delightful. And that's not really my thing. I just wish they gave me a little more bread to mop up all of that delicious flavor. The fried octopus literally dissolves in your mouth. Delicate and delicious seasoning. And don't get me started on the Rigatoni. A bone filled with marrow, standing up right covered with rigatoni accented by caramelized onions and seasoning. It's a dish that you literally eat. Just one bite at a time to really enjoy the rich flavor. We had just intended on having these little bites as appetizers and it was so good. We literally ordered another one. I will definitely return for this dish alone. I must say for the meat eaters, the rest of the selections looked incredible.

Not many people in Westchester know about this place. We have dined here many times and it is consistent service and food.

While this place is pretty casual inside the food is pretty elevated. The Crisp Hash Brown and Duck Liver Cannoli were so good at brunch. For dinner I have had the Radiatore which is a lamb bolognese with fresh mint and parm. The mint is critical to this dish. So delicious! It's a great place to get a delicious meal with good service without any pretentiousness.

My fiance and I went on a double date here on a Friday night with a reservation. The wait time was not as ideal as they were packed and double booked despite our reservation. We were waiting about 20-30 minutes for our table. The ambiance is pub style and quite noisy so not ideal if you want to chat amongst your table. We were shouting over one another. For apps we ordered the charcuterie board which came with assorted meats, cheeses and breads. The meats were not fresh and tasted stale. The cheeses were standard. But I will say what lacked in apps totally made up for it in entrees. Entrees were DELICIOUS. I would recommend the osso buco which was fall off the bone. You have to get the beef fat potato's they are amazing the flavor is bursting and I would go back there just for those. I ordered the market fish which was delicious and well seasoned. Desserts were great too we got the stick a butta cake which was yummy as well. Overall I would say give it a try entrees wont disappoint but skip the apps.

My husband and I went there for a pre-Valentine's dinner and they didn't disappoint! My favorite is the Duck Liver Cannoli and the Rigatoni with Bone Marrow. We also had the Por osso Bucco and that was delicious too. This restaurant is definitely worth it!

I have been to this restaurant three times for brunch, and it never disappoints. This most recent visit for brunch was exceptional. My partner, best friend and I were out celebrating my birthday and as a first-timer, my friend was blown away. Our server, Mallory, was excellent. When I mentioned that I don't drink alcohol, she had the bartender whip me up a mocktail surprise - without a doubt the best mocktail I've had. Mallory also overheard us talking about my birthday and surprised us with a candle in my dessert, a lovely touch. The food is phenomenal. For a very meat-centric spot, they have some great vegetarian options; I always get the ricotta crostini and their amazing pancakes with strawberry butter and basil (probably my favorite pancakes ever). It's a cozy, warm little spot where the staff is all excellent from food runners to servers to hosts. When I need to spoil myself or have a guest I want to impress, The Cookery is the place to go.

Came for brunch and loved their prix fix menu! You get one app, one main, one dessert and a drink for $40. For such a great restaurant, that's a great deal! We tried a variety of options and all were delicious!

Delicious food every time! Great service, fun and laid back vibe. You must taste their bone marrow rigatoni and stick a butta pie!

I've been going to The Cookery since it opened! Everything I ordered has been great. But, my go-to is the meatballs (like my grandpa's), the fresh mozzarella and the pork osso bucco! Love the bar area hi-top tables and the great service!

It's a nice place for some apps and a drink. But I always hear people rave about it, but I don't get the big deal. Had the steak last time and it was not good. Horrible cut and so thin. It was cold also. But the meatballs Octopus and mozz are good. Bread too. Cool place to hang at the bar.

Delicious food and great vibes! They are consistent and great with allergies. The Cookery is that cozy go-to place for brunch, date night, or a quick bite at the bar. Drinks are delicious and service was great.
Be the first to ReplyAn amazing pre fix brunch experience.
The Bloody Mary was excellent. Best biscuit north of the mason Dixon. Kale salad was a touch too salty but still yummy. Eggs in purgatory was Devine. Dessert was so rich, I could only eat one bite. I can't wait to go back for dinner. And so reasonably priced. It felt like a steal.
Be the first to ReplyGood food depending on when, very inconsistent.
Don't bother making a reservation because they don't honor them - come very early and hope for the best. Manager is a moron and staff is all entitled local potheads
Be the first to ReplyAlways delicious, unpretentious and quality food and people.
Their sticky toffee pudding is a family favorite.
Be the first to ReplyWhat a salty mess this place is.
Went last night for the first time since living in the area and everything that I ordered was just...salty. Gem salad: beyond salty, but I was starving so I tried to look past it...thought maybe it was the dressing or something else and that my palette wasn't refined enough to appreciate it. Then both of us ordered the bucatini and both of us sent our dishes back because of the inedible saline levels. The place was packed, so clearly I am missing something. Great wine list, but not enough to get me to come back. Sorry, Cookery.

If you like salty small portions and over priced foods this is your place to eat that's all I can say . Oh they charge for bread, that's very trendy?
Be the first to ReplyThis was one of my favorite restaurants.
My husband and I went there for my birthday last night and the staff was lovely the food was delicious they made me feel very special. However s few hours later my husband and i got horrible food poisoning. So i got to spend my actual birthday today in bed trying to take care of two toddlers.
Be the first to ReplyPersonally I am not total snob, but I walked out of here
Personally I am not total snob, but I walked out of here and did not bother eating in this dimly lit un-atmospheric "joint" of a bar. This is frankly an ugly restaurant w/zero atmosphere. It is a BAR w/tables,a tavern and not even a charming one. It is ugly and dark w/no candles or music or charm -and one walks into where they are watching football with drunks w/baseball hats backwards. The "host" was mean ol' man who barely welcomed me and basically let me seat myself not caring where I sat or welcomed me in any way. I waited for 10 minutes and no-one came to greet me or bring a menu or bread or water or anything for that matter. I was there solely based on the fact that Westchester magazine gave it such high reviews. I was totally unhappy looking around seeing such casual looking diners that I finally walked out. The owner or host couldn't have cared less. The food may be good as they say, I wouldn't know. I base this review solely on dim dull atmosphere , the lack of welcome I received, and the invisible service that never appeared.
Be the first to ReplyThe best restaurant in Westchester for sure.
Everyone in the entire world loves this place and now I understand why. If I could eat here everyday, I definitely would. The chef here really know what they are doing. This is so unbelievably good ... sometimes you just gotta believe the hype...SoSo Good

Heard good things about the food scene in Dobbs Ferry and The Cookery was at the top of the list. Prix Fixe brunch menu was the situation. Nice little, casual place with outdoor seating. Our waitress was amazing and gave us some great recommendations Now the food...so we were blown away by the food. Everything we had we were scraping the plates clean. Fresh mozzarella and duck liver cannolis are a must. I had the grilled mortadella sandwich and would eat it every day if I could. My girlfriend had the bucatini and it was delicious. Deserts was great as well. Have to go back a few times to taste the rest of the menu. Definitely worth the trip out of the city.
Be the first to ReplyFrom the minute we walked in the door, they could not have
From the minute we walked in the door, they could not have been more accommodating. Our online reservation had not gone through. No problem. They seated us gracefully and promptly. We were seated near a very noisy group. No problem, they moved us. Everyone was so pleasant, it was as if we were visiting with old friends. The staff is personable and incredibly efficient but they make it all look effortless, as if there is no problem in working on a stifling hot night, when they are busy, with tables inside and out. Our waiter Dom, was great, the manager was wonderful - everyone was genuinely friendly and interested. I mention the service first, because The Cookery is known for it's food, and that is often what everyone talks about. I would have stayed even if they were having a Macarena convention there. Fortunately, they were not. The place is on the small side. It is casual. I suspect it is often crowded and it is noisy when it is busy. It was also hot inside that night. But the food is truly to die for. I had the Cauliflower Ravioli, which was exceptional and, of course, the stickabutta dessert, for which I believe I am still paying. But it was worth every extra pound it has cost me. My husband had the little neck clams and a pasta dish about which he raved. He had the ice cream for dessert and loved it. It is a great spot with memorable food. What more can you ask for?
Be the first to ReplyThe ratings don't lie -- this place serves great food.
I can't describe the inside -- we ate at a table in front of the restaurant which is on a fairly quiet side street. Our server, whose name I didn't get, was friendly, funny, knowledgeable and checked in regularly. If only all restaurants had servers like this. I had the pork osso bucco with polenta. I'm not usually a polenta fan, but this dish was terrific and a sizable portion. Had the gem salad to start and we shared the bread and butter. Friend had branzino and we split an order of market vegetables (green pea pods). Everything was flavorful, fresh and cooked to perfection. Prices were reasonable for the portion size. I'm really glad I was able to experience this restaurant and it lived up to my expectations.

You probably won't find more excellent food and drink in most of Westchester. The only problem is that this is an insanely noisy venue. Don't go to conduct an intimate conversation.
