The Django New York Reviews from The Last Year
Food was excellent, cool ambiance.
Had the feel of being in a secret underground club. The night we went was an excellent jazz band from Juilliard. Will def be returning.
LOVED this spot.
Came alone, stayed a long time. Head downstairs in the Roxy Hotel and you'll find this jazz spot tucked into the corner near the theater. Cover fee tends to be around $35 for performances and there is also a two drink minimum. If you like the jazz, this is a fantastic spot as the acoustics and setting are fantastic. You'll find very talented jazz performers here - check their social media or website for who's playing.

The Django was amazing!!! The place was very aesthetically pleasing and the staff was very attentive to our needs/wants. The drinks were deliciously paired with a great performance of jazz!!!

Such a great place to spend time while listening to a world-class jazz show. I had a blast and the musicians were amazing and welcoming. You better have a reservation and know that at least two drinks have to be consumed during your time in there. I strongly recommend giving it a shot to drinks and foods and enjoy the show. Please be respectful and don't talk during the show.
Love this space! Super great vibes, service and drinks.
Crowd was a bit loud during the music sets.
Good atmosphere, pretty good music, mid food, but
Good atmosphere, pretty good music, mid food, but unsatisfactory service. I wasn't sure whether to give two or three stars, but three is more positive. I came here on a Friday night with my boyfriend a few weeks after my friend's solo visit. My friend had told me it was good but didn't seem to be in a rush to go back when I had suggested going together when planning our time together. After our experience tonight, I get why. The hospitality team really needs to step it up. Here's a breakdown of what happened: 1. Our server came to take our order, and we told her we needed a few more minutes. She was still there, staring at us, smiling. There were a few more meh interactions with her where communication seemed broken. 2. We saw that the performance was from 7:30-10pm, so we'd stay for part two after intermission to support the musicians. The manager came by and informed us others were waiting for our table, but before we could take action, she told us she'd work it out and to relax. After a quick huddle, my boyfriend got up and told her we'd happily give up the table, but she told us not to worry, so we said we'd order more drinks as we didn't want to hog the table without buying more. We then waited for our server to come, and she passed us while signaling she'd be back. However, time passed, and when she finally returned, she told us we had to give up our table. We explained that the manager told us we could stay, to which she responded, "yea, she said you guys would order more drinks, and you didn't, so you have to leave." We were so confused because she never came back to take our order. We were tired of their incompetence at that point, so we just got up and left. My friend, who recommended the place, also had a similar experience with the service. It's a pity because we were excited to try our first jazz club in New York. The venue's potential was not fully realized due to the disappointing service. Even my usually patient and nonjudgmental boyfriend left the venue in a sour mood (less sour than the cherry tomatoes in the Atlantic cod) that needed recovery.
Best time ever I high recommend food service atmosphere
Best time ever I high recommend food service atmosphere music everything was a great experience I felt like I was in a good movie
Great vibes, strong drinks and good food.
The staff are very attentive and the band was amazing.
This place was the highlight of my wife and I's trip to NYC.
The ambience is second to none, really giving the vibes that you stumbled into something special. (And you did!) The staff was super friendly and about as chill as could be. I could see people getting annoyed at how relaxed everyone was, but if that's you maybe stay away from jazz clubs? I chatted it up with everyone - including the musicians, and everyone was a delight. The cocktails were all delicious, with the tropical take on the old fashioned (the melodique) being one of the most unique takes on the classic i've ever had. The atlantic cod was absolutely delicious, and the bacon mac and cheese was INCREDIBLE. I don't order mac n cheese that often, but when i do it's usually strangely disappointing. Not so here. The music was incredible, and has me looking up jazz clubs in my home city!

I've spoken with multiple employees over the phone, email, and Instagram DM to get in touch with a manager because The Django OVERCHARGED MY CREDIT CARD, but received no response from a higher-up. And so, I'm leaving this review. My friend and I attended a show in early March. The food and drink were tasty- extremely overpriced, but what can ya do? The jazz itself was very disappointing because the drums were overpowering the vocalist, whose mic audio was also too low. I'm not a NY local but I'm certain you can find a comparable jazz experience elsewhere for a more affordable price. Before going in, we were aware of the $35 cover fee, as well as the 2 drink minimum, but were still stunned by the final bill. Because all the charges were already so overpriced for an experience so disappointing, we chose not to leave a tip. A couple days later, I checked my banking app and noticed that someone had sneakily charged me an additional $16. I had clearly drawn a line through the tip section on the receipt, so it feels like this was the action of a wronged server. I totally understand the validity and importance of tips and I almost always tip, but at the end of the day, they are optional, and for this place to FRAUDULENTLY charge me $16 that I DID NOT CONSENT to paying, is pretty despicable. The most frustrating part, though, is that no one who could solve this issue was willing to contact me back. Needless to say, I won't be returning and I do not recommend The Django.
Rude and Expensive
Came here as a surprise for my partners birthday. Our reservation was at 8:45, we were told we could be taken to our seats at 9:15. So not only were we going to be seated late but we were going to miss 15 minutes of the show that is only an hour long. Which is a lot to miss when you are paying a cover and a two drink minimum. When I asked the manager at the front about this he said, "do you want to go in or do you want to miss more of the show?" Which is incredibly rude and dismissive when we were just trying to understand. New York is home to many jazz clubs with a richer history than this one, and they manage to be courteous, respectful and professional whenever we visit, so we will be sticking to those in the future.
Waste of money for poor performance
Misleading and not worth the money. The cover and 2 drink minimum is very reasonable, but not for 1 hour of music. The quartet started at 6:30 and the set lasted 1 hr. They announced that they would return in a half hour (8pm) for the 2nd set. Our waitress told us we needed to leave before the 2nd set….that our reservation only lasted 90 min. We were so surprised and aghast. Our bill was $250 and we only listened to 4 mediocre songs. The tenor sax player was even yawning during the performance. What a disappointing performance by this quartet. We went upstairs to the bar and listened to much better jazz. Avoid Django or at least know that you won’t be there very long and it’s a waste of money.
Go if you wanted to enjoy music and the atmosphere but
Go if you wanted to enjoy music and the atmosphere but nothing else. I came here for my birthday and left SEVERELY disappointed. My waitress brought our first drinks- I guess she misheard me with my order but I decided to settle because the music started and I couldn't flag her down. We ordered the meat and cheese board- good, but needs more crackers. I order my second drink and the bartender says they can't make this classic cocktail- it occurs to me that they wouldn't have been able to make my first drink either due to the missing ingredient so my waitress just ordered me the closest 2nd option (gin martini) without my approval. I guess their bar is only equipped for just their cocktails, so I ordered off the menu and it was one of the worse cocktails I've ever had. The table next to me received a birthday dessert while we didn't (which isn't the biggest thing in the world but still notable). It was just a sour experience to pay for $35 and two drinks that were less than what I would have liked and poor service. They also charged me $22 for the said gin martini. What? The 3-piece band was good, but the band playing in the entrance of the hotel with the larger bar had a piano, bass, drums, and sax. Additionally, the Photo Booth says $5, but charged $13 and flashes with no warning. It was one annoyance after another. Next time, I'd skip the underground aesthetic for the more proper music and possibly more proper drinks on the first floor. I won't be returning.
I sat at the bar I had just left Dizzy's and was there for
I sat at the bar I had just left Dizzy's and was there for the music. Although i did cheat & had desert the CHOCOLATE POT DE CRÈME so yummy with a glass of champagne. Hey thats how I tool. my bartender was great very cool, young, handsome & professional. Now for the ambiance & music. LUTHER S. ALLISON QUARTET was just off the charts. Luther S. Allison is a multi-instrumentalist specializing in both piano, drum set, composer. Stanley Ruvinov base, Hank Allen-Barfield drums all great musicians. Now, people I just can't say enough about James Haddad his trumpet player, composer, and arranger from Brooklyn, New York. He is Fantastic! The only negative point I have about the club basically it's audience is that they're not respectful to the musicians. A young crowd that can't shut up while the set is on. I had just came from Dizzy's and headed to Django, lets just say that does not happen at Dizzy's They'll come over & tell you to please stop talking really people it was ridiculous.

First things first, the environment is really great and intimate! Food was delicious! Prices were steep but we already knew that going in. Perfect for a first date!
AWESOME ATMOSPHERE, NOT SATISFYING EXPERIENCE Cool place,
AWESOME ATMOSPHERE, NOT SATISFYING EXPERIENCE Cool place, nice atmosphere and amazing decorum. Walking past the dark and intimate Hotel Roxy Bar then going down the stairs to a basement level to see an old movie theatre decorated lobby on one side and the Django on the other. The musicians were amazing, the atmosphere of the Django and vibe when you're sitting there just makes it such a cool date spot. That is where most of the nice stuff ends for the Django however. A $35 cover fee per person isn't bad if it was for more than about an hour of music but $35 per person and two drink minimum guarantees you spend about $200 to listen to a single set. It's a smart business model, just doesn't actually make you feel good to come here though. Then they kick you out after 90 minutes, expecting you to chug your second drink. The seats are quite densely arranged so service can be slow, the cocktails were okay, salmon tartare was also fine. I would recommend sitting at the booth if possible for the comfort and view, so overall a very expensive short but fun experience that leaves you wishing you got more for your money
Great atmosphere and entertainment, but we were very
Great atmosphere and entertainment, but we were very underwhelmed by the food. We ordered the kale caesar salad with chicken, which was almost entirely just kale, the snapper and brussell sprout entry (mediocre), and the tuna tartare- which was the most plain tartare I've ever tasted. We had a fun time, and the manager agreed to waive the 2 drink minimum since we weren't drinking and purchased the amount of food we did. Overall, very luke warm experience. There are better live entertainment dinner clubs in NYC.
Unfortunately, the charm of the Django has faded.
We booked a 10:00 pm table for two. At 10:45, we were still standing in the lobby waiting. We ended up just leaving. The $35 per person cover and two drink per person minimum is impossible to stomach after such poor reservation management. Whats the point of a reservation? I guess to stand in the lobby.

What a gem! I was worried this spot would be a little gimmicky given it's in a hotel, but the music, food, and ambiance were all spot on! Really enjoyed our time here!
Alvin and crew set the tone for an incredible night of jazz
Alvin and crew set the tone for an incredible night of jazz during my stay at the Roxy! I was visiting NY for work, and Alvin made me feel welcome, even though I was on my own on a Saturday night. Such a cool, intimate space to hear outstanding jazz. Classy yet down to earth. Incredible acoustics and lines of sight. Richard Cortez and his band--piano, tenor sax, trumpet, stand-up bass, drums--were absolutely amazing! Personable, engaging and remarkably talented musicians. The perfect end to a long day. Great drinks and wait staff, too.
Phenomenal place.
Probably my favorite jazz spot I've been to. Definitely get there early to check in right away so you can be seated first and have the option to choose the best spots. Could not recommend enough, if you're considering it do not even hesitate.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.
Worked perfectly, thank you!
This is a crazy holiday season in NYC and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that AppointmentTrader works! Will be using again!
Worked flawlessly!
Worked so well! I was a bit nervous, but everything went very smoothly. purchased the reservation, and got into the restaurant seamlessly.
Love this app!
So glad I came across this app :)
Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here
Prime time, great meal
So easy and had a prime time which I can never seem to get on normal res apps. So worth it
Got impossible NYC res
instead of waiting weeks I got my 4 charles reservation instantly
Worked perfectly to get into Carbone. So delighted
perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??
Tune into NBC News - Top Story Tonight 7:40p ET
Let’s go. Get more people placing bids!
I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
