Wonderful birthday meal
My partner took me here for my birthday, just before Christmas and it was wonderful. I lovely tasting menu, with excellent service and a lovely setting. It’s definitely somewhere for a special occasion, but the food was excellent.

The first lunch was amazing! On my second visit I wasn't so impressed but put this down to the fact that perhaps I chose the wrong food. But this last visit was very disappointing. The menu was more or less identical to that of 2nd December, I would have expected more of a change in nearly two months! The dishes, when they arrived, were much plainer - the lovely way the waiter describes each plate was missing as there wasn't so much detail - and there weren't the individual items to savour. I chose duck as a main dish and it really wasn't exceptional. On the previous two occasions there was an 'amuse bouche' between courses which didn't happen this time. Overall not such a good experience.

Delicious food and attentive , friendly staff. Despite the inconvenience to themselves, the staff were considerate and courteous enough to wear masks. We visited with my elderly father who appreciated the spacious, quiet dining rooms, and the absence of steps.
Be the first to ReplyAn outstanding restaurant where sadly I was made to feel horribly uncomfortable.
A superb restaurant if only it stopped treating guests like Covid biohazards more than a year after pandemic restrictions have been fully lifted in the UK. If this restaurant were in Beijing I could understand it, but all staff in uniform black masks with only their eyes peeping out makes for one hellishly anxiety provoking meal. The cooking is utterly exquisite and the service impeccable. I find it incredibly sad that such a truly outstanding restaurant (by far the best in the area) can choose to inflict such stress on its diners.

Excellent experience. We chose the 3 course lunch menu which came with various between course extras. The food was excellent with innovative combinations of flavours and textures. There is a good choice of wines from around the world, which are available by the glass. The staff were delightful and the service excellent in surroundings which produce a delightful ambience.

Fantastic food, ambiance and overall quality. It’s a beautiful place with friendly service but done in an ultra refined way that is really impressive. Not a cheap date but for a special occasion it’s a belter

We visited as a couple 7th October and it was a fabulous experience. The vegetarian tasting menu was innovative and every element was delicious. We had 1 wine and 1 non alcohol pairing and both were excellent. The non alcoholic pairing was so well thought out and each a surprise. The service was exemplary and we will definitely return.

A well deserved Michelin star for the Dysart. Original Clever dishes with some really quirky appetisers between coursers like the one shot palette cleanser of Devonshire cream egg yolk maple syrup and a sherry balsamic with a little chives and seaweed on the top. Utterly madly delicious different textures and viscosity’s. Or the chilled beetroot soup. My main course was the king of fish Turbot. Perfectly cooked and presented with cepts a very autumnal vibe to it which seemed so right. Great and extensive wine list with some great by the glass choices. Front of house service was perfect relaxed knowledgable and with an elegant flourish to everything they did for us. Love this place will be back. You’ll love it.

Had tasting menu plus non-alcoholic drink pairing for lunch. One of the best meal I had on this trip to England. Very innovative and tasty dishes. Can easily tell that a lot of thoughts and efforts go into each dish and even each drink paired with the respective dish. Very friendly staff and warm ambience. Staff all wear face masks , boosting the food hygiene ! Restaurant is well located for a good meal before or after a walk in the open meadows or scenic riverside path behind the restaurant. I would return for another meal here in my next visit to London!

Once again another wonderful experience at The Dysart. The service, ambience and food are second to none. For exceptional standards and a personal approach nowhere else compares.

Beautiful building and lovely dinning room on arrival, attentive staff and pleasant amuse Bouche .
Starter was the signature bream and my wife had the ox cheek risotto.
The risotto was mediocre and would barely fill an egg cup, very very small .
The bream was delicate and tasty.
The mains Pasta and the cod .
Cod was quite bland and not very attractive visually.
The pasta was warm and small in portion size , and nothing to excite your tastebuds.
The deserts were by far the highlight of the evening and I’m not a big dessert fan .
I’m not expecting a large plate of food and have experience many fine dinning restaurants afield, but to leave the restaurant with mind blowing flavours and the only complaint is your still a little hungry is great !
But to leave the restaurant without the mind blowing flavours and still very hungry is probably where I write a review.
Not as good as my last visit
I had really enjoyed my previous visit to The Dysart and was looking forward to dinner. I thought the Tasting menu, which was the only option, at £95 was a bit steep but this has been a difficult couple of years for restaurants so was happy to give it a go. All started really well with a shot glass full of lovely stuff but sadly the rest of the menu did not live up to its promise - except for the bread which was excellent. The fish courses were ok but too many ingredients, sometimes fighting with each other didn't allow the fish to shine. The lamb course was under seasoned and something left a strange aftertaste, (poppy seeds?). The deserts were fresh and well presented. The service was very good, friendly and efficient, but the sooner we can ditch the masks the easier it will be for everyone. Something of a disappointment food wise so sadly not anxious to return.

I’ve eaten here several times and everything has been excellent, but on this occasion, the tasting menu just didn’t match my previous experiences. Everything was a little peculiar, dishes were under-seasoned and, in some courses, very oddly flavoured. A strangely metallic taste permeated certain dishes. Food was well-cooked, particularly the bream, but lamb was tough, stringy, chewy and very under-seasoned. I couldn’t identify why under seasoned food could produce a very strange after taste. Desserts were beautifully presented, but rather tasteless, which indicated that something in previous courses had interfered with my taste buds. The rest of the party felt very much the same.
Service was charming, but courses were slow to arrive which indicated that something might have been going on in the kitchen! We had a lovely evening, but unfortunately the food wasn’t great.
A must visit
This is amazing!!! The food is incredible, the staff amazing and the location just perfect.
My husband and I have visited on a few occasions and have already booked a follow up visit in January. The Dysart food and service is far above a number of higher Michelin stared restaurants in London and we cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough.
Barney is a wonderful manager and there is nothing we can fault about this incredible restaurant.
We are very much looking forward to our return visit!
Terrific, terrific, terrific- what a treat
What an amazing venue in Petersham. An old structure lovingly restored, with food to match.
Elegant, understated, attentive service, superb presentation, superb food. Superb, delicate food from start to finish.
LOVED IT!
Just so!
The first thing that strikes you on entering The Dysart, apart from the large room and decoration, is the cleanliness. Everything is just so and not a speck of dirt anywhere! Now I like that sort of thing and as first impressions are lasting ones that’s why I want to go back again and again. Food was terrific, ambiance and service too. Pretty faultless really and as a local lad I’d say the best fine dining experience in the Richmond area.

This has to be the best restaurant outside of London, possibly even better than a number of similar restaurants in London! This was our second visit and both have been incredible. We had both the tasting menu and the vegetarian tasting menu and both were exceptional. The quality of the food is amazing and the ingredients are treated with such love and respect! The staff, led by Barney are a real credit to the restaurant, charming and well informed and the design and ambiance of the restaurant is perfect.
We will most definitely be back and we would highly recommend The Dysart.
Still the best dining outside of London
Since our last visit The Dysart was awarded a Michelin star, appropriate recognition of the fine dining offered. Beyond the always first class menu offerings, we love the quiet ambience, the generous space between tables, and the attentive service. Delighted too that the wine list includes a good selection of reasonably priced, very drinkable, wines.

I live locally and had a very enjoyable dinner here a few years ago so had reasonably high expectations. Sadly this time around was not the same quality. On the positive side the waiting staff were efficient and very professional. However the food was mediocre and very slow. We ate from the a la carte menu. Starter was a single scallop. In fairness to Dysart, it was described in the singular on the menu but was just a single, normal sized scallop which seemed very expensive for what you received! Main was ok, not terrible, but certainly not a michelin experience. It came close to 30 mins after the starter. One main of lamb was lukewarm. Pasta was ok, but very creamy. Overall, starter and main took 2 hours for a couple.

I really wanted to give a good review. The staff were really friend and tried hard to make our lunch enjoyable.
The flavours were delicious, the food looked fantastic. But the bottom line is that you cannot send food to table lukewarm/bordering on room temperature. It really let you down.
