One of the best restaurants in London
One of the best in London Easily one of the best restaurants in London. Everything is sublime. The food is perfect, beautifully presented and cooked. The service is too. Nice, quiet atmosphere. Great wine list. I have been coming to this restaurant for years and it never fails to impress.
Be the first to ReplyAn excellent tasting menu experience.
This was a double celebration and was truly memorable.we took our own wine and paid corkage and the food was excellent. Although it was a tasting menu, which I donโt normally favour this was a good, hearty dinner. Three starters (effectively) all vegetable based including a divine carrot dish. A lobster dish, a scallop dish which made a lovely fish course, while everyone else had fallow deer, I had a wonderful short rib. The meal was rounded off with a quince mousse and a rhubarb tartlet. The room is pleasant but not opulent and the service was knowledgeable and friendly.

We visited here for a lunch and I must say the whole experience was outstanding. The welcome, the service, the food, and even the price were all spot on. The ambience the place offers at lunch time, I can only imagine would be tenfold in the evening. It was my wife's second visit, and my first, and I can say we will be back but this time to try the evening.
Be the first to ReplyBest fine dining of our week in London!
We loved every moment of our special occasion dinner at Five Fields! The restaurant is small, quiet, and serene. The staff are polished and refreshingly Unobtrusive - each course of our prixe fixe menu arrived in perfect unison but with none of the pretentious โfanfareโ many other expensive restaurants choose to display. Most important, of course, the food is fabulous, inventive, and gorgeous. Standouts on the night we dined were the potato course and the later fallow deer offering. We chose the less expensive wine pairing (ยฃ105) - excellent and we appreciated sommelier Nunoโs gracious, comprehensive explanations of each choice. Definitely will return when weโre ready for another Very Posh dinner!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food and service, but
I had read the ecstatic reviews and for some time lunch wasnโt available. Then when our group of six were finishing a lunch at another restaurant it was our turn to choose and for our selected date a table for six was available. Great, I looked forward to it. The week of our booking I was surprised not to receive a confirmation call. So I called them, apparently my booking was fine but they hadnโt taken contact details. On the day a work problem prevented one of our party from attending. No problem we were politely told, we would be charged for the sixth person and their food would be served to the table. Lots of staff, attentive service, excellent food yet a feeling that we were not quite worthy customers of this restaurant. One of my grit had researched the wine list online and remarked that there seemed to be very little under ยฃ60 per bottle. He was advised that he could have found something close to ยฃ40 with diligent searching. So we left having spent ยฃ170 per head feeling we hadnโt had value for money. The food was interesting and innovative, the wine we selected very palatable yet we all felt it was not an experience we would repeat. Still, next choice of restaurant is with a grit and their are lots more in London,
Be the first to ReplyBrilliant...apart from the reception
Lunchtime tasting menu - we were a party of 4. Fantastic range of courses by way of style, presentation and taste. Special mention to Chris the Wine manager who made the experience all so much more interesting with his explanations of what was being offered with each dish - thoroughly recommended. With regret I am not giving this 5 green dots as the reception was poor - the maรฎtre d' being adamant that there was no booking in my name (iPad in hand), when in fact I had confirmed the exact requirement the previous evening. Was seriously taken aback by this. At nearly ยฃ200 a head I don't expect this sort of careless admin error (hint: before service just scan across the names OR use a paper based copy).
Be the first to ReplyA truly wonderful experience
I can honestly say the food and drink were exquisite. We particularly enjoyed the lobster, deer and roasted scallops. The flavours and textures went together really well and we loved how fresh the ingredients were. The Sommelier really knew his stuff, we enjoyed learning about the wine pairings and the detail behind how each was made, it was truly fascinating and really added to the dining experience. I loved the little touches that for me really elevated the experience. The aromatic white truffle brought to the table covered with a beautiful cloche which was then freshly grated over our dish intensified the truffle aroma. Service was impeccable. This little gem really exceeded my expectations and weโre looking forward to seeing the summer menu.
Be the first to ReplyAn extraordinary culinary experience
We were incredibly lucky to have experienced a gourmand โcook offโ between the Chef patron and the visiting chef, Paul Liebrandt. There were 8+ courses prepared alternatively by each Chef - it was wonderful. Service, as usual, was fantastic! A culinary treat.
Be the first to ReplyDinner for 4 friends.
This was a experience we want to forget . The price was huge and thatโs OK if its a great experience but his was dreadful . Do not waste your money. . Really disappointing food , and we had the prestige wine pairing most of which was indifferent to say the least . Re food they had tried to make something of beetroot , kolrahbi ( a species of turnip ) , potato ( truffle was offered at ยฃ70 per person extra ) all for which totally failed. .The flavours of other better ingredients e.g an oyster , were destroyed by inappropriate combinations.e.g more raw beetroot . There was an excessive effort to create small bites that tasted of very little and not a single item could be classified as really flavourful .The desert , an apple soaked in sugar, was particularly inedible as it was so excessively sweet , even for the most sweet toothed member of our party, The wines were mostly very disappointing and not up to the standard they should be in such an expensive restaurant . We came here some years ago and it was great but it has lost its way .
Be the first to ReplyPure heaven and so fresh
This has to one of the best meals we have ever had the joy to eat. The service was perfectly paced 3.5 hours, the food all 8 courses were sized so you could eat every bite and the contrasts just sublime. We up graded on the white truffle, well worth it and the 2000 Barolo. We had the premium flight, upgraded on most things so not inexpensive but worth every penny and some marvellous memories. The food comes from their own kitchen garden and is managed by a heritage garden scholar. This is a save up and enjoy place. Pace yourself. I think it rates up there for another star. Not a bad word to be said about this place.
Be the first to Replyextraordinarily excellent lunch
Arrived for a weekday lunch to a trio of welcomes and a soothingly charming room with no bad tables. Each of the three amuse bouche boasted a fascinating and developing series of complex flavours. I donโt think weโve ever enjoyed any tastes as much as these tiny parcels. Then two breads, both home made of course, and homemade cultured butter. The first starter was a distinctively different pair of earthy beetroot offerings which one of us loved while the other found the flavours a little muddy. The wonderful second starter was again a contrasting pair; one a full bodied umami taste and the other elegantly refreshing. So far, 7 different amazing taste โsamplesโ. Next came the offal, a savoury smear of chicken heart and duck liver sitting on a root vegetable (forget which) and topped by an intricately rolled roast potato wheel and a bland potato sauce. The deer main course was tender and moist but chewy, the star was the jus, unctuously umami and temptingly lickable (oops). We finished with the two delectable desserts, a โpre-dessertโ which was a mosaic of lemon, lime and lemongrass flavours and a โmain dessert", a perfectly cooked mini toffee-ish apple with a sabayon sauce, again with layers of subtle flavours. Petit four was a tart with honey from the chefโs farm in East Sussex, where the deer and produce in many dishes also came from. Most dishes were delightfully elaborate to look at, with impressive attention to aroma and texture. The courses were well paced. Service was attentive and knowledgeable. The wine menu was impressive. The restaurant was not full, which saddened us: it deserves a long wait list for all sittings. We preferred this place to the Michelin 3-star restaurants in London we visited last year (treats in place of our usual trips abroad, which had been made so difficult by the plandemic insanity); while they were all solidly good, the exquisite tastes set this apart. This is now our first choice for anniversary celebrations.
Be the first to ReplyPlease book a table here, for your own sake.
This is not a cheap restaurant, but it is worth every penny. I took my wife here for our anniversary, and it was simply the best food either of us has ever had. It's a tasting menu, with wine pairings available. Every dish was exquisite, both in plating and palette, but the bird offal and potato reduction deserves a special mention. As does the lobster, and the canapes, and, well all of it! Wine pairings were perfect for every course, and the service was attentive without ever being intrusive. If you are looking for a place for a splurge or a celebratory dinner, look no further.
Be the first to ReplyFormal service and lovely decor
This is a lovely place to dine. The service is so precise, every detail is perfect. The decor is lovely. We enjoyed the wine pairings and had both the classic and the premium - actually we preferred the classic. As much as we enjoyed the experience, we were less enamored with the food. It was a bit odd and there were few courses that we actually enjoyed a lot. Its also really expensive.
Be the first to ReplyNo dinner
Very sadly I was sick with a very bad stomach bug and could not make our reservation. But if you do not give 48 hours notice you still get charged the full amount of ยฃ140 per head!! Which is very disappointing- and no compromise and a very expensive at home throwing up.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic FF
This was our last stop of the week after Trinity, La chapelle, chez bruce. And this was the best in terms of professionalism, plating , palate. A tasting menu of 9 courses and every one very good to excellent. Standouts include the potato, lobster and lamb. The only area of advice is the staff can relax and smile more
Be the first to ReplyElegant and Delicious
The service was impeccable. The courses were all tasty with some standout ones with the canapรฉs and the potato bird offal courses. Get the wine pairing to enjoy it even more. We knew London was expensive but this meal was the most expensive of our entire European trip. Take note that itโs a splurge for this Michelin stared restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyBrilliant meal
The whole meal was superb, beautifully presented and imaginative dishes, providing a truly wonderful experience. Fresh and delicious. Delightful staff and a very cosy and beautifully decorated dining room. The private dining room upstairs is also beautiful.
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding Lunch
Over recent years this restaurant has become a real favourite and I have to say that after our latest visit on saturday thereโs definitely no reason to think this will change in the future. The Five Fields is set in Blacklands Terrace a quiet little street of the Kings Road in Chelsea. Here you will enter to a beautiful cosy dining room and enjoy a fabulous lunch / dinner with amazing food , great wine and excellent friendly service.
So now to our latest visit where on entering we received a warm welcome back from manager Jason before he escorted us to our table. This was followed by a complimentary glass of Charles Heidsieck 2006 Blanc des Millenaires champagne poured by Agnieszka who I definitely consider to be one of the top sommeliers in the country. We would enjoy the champagne along with some fabulous Canapรฉs. The first was Salmon in a tomato tuille along with a Foie Gras parfait and finally a Celeriac Consommรฉ.
Now it was time to look at the menu which for lunch is a seven course tasting menu with an optional extra cheese course. Once decided that the menu looked amazing and nothing needed to be adjusted we needed to choose some wine. On discussion with sommelier Agnieszka we went for her highly recommended Domaine Duroche 2015 Pinot Noir from Burgundy. This wine was light and fruity that was an absolutely perfect pairing with the majority of the menu.
We now moved onto the second course of Beetroot executed perfectly in two different ways. You started with the Red Beetroot with dill and smoked eel before refreshing your palate with the White Beetroot , creme fraiche and oyster. This was followed by the Brassicas which was a stunning Roasted Scallop with cured turnips followed by a Red Cabbage mousse and crispy kale. The flavour combinations of each dish were simply sublime.
What was to follow next would literally blow us away. This was an absolutely fantastic Jerusalem Artichoke with sunflower seeds and oxtail a definite highlight of the day. Now it was time for the main course of Fallow Deer with swede and meadowsweet a dish worthy of being the main dish in any establishment. We then decided to have the additional extra Cheese Course accompanied by a glass of port. There was a selection of three cheeses along with bread , crackers , celery , pickled walnuts , honeycomb , pear chutney and a surprise to us in cumin fudge that was actually a delightful pairing with the goatโs cheese.
Now we moved on to dessert which started with a fabulous and refreshing Blood Orange Sorbet with buttermilk before the main dessert a Rhubarb Tartare with jasmine cream. This was paired delightfully with a glass of Rathfinny sparkling rose wine and for me a 2016 Jurancon sweet wine courtesy of sommelier Agnieszka which was a fantastic gesture on her part.
We finished with tea , coffee and petit fours to bring to an end an outstanding lunch. The food created by chefs Taylor , Marguerite and the team was simply amazing. The service led by manager Jason , Sandra and Michaela was impeccable. The wine pairings from Agnieszka were just perfect. This is why I would highly recommend a visit to this fabulous restaurant and personally canโt wait to return again myself in the near future.
Thank You Taylor , Marguerite , Jason and all the team for a fantastic dining experience and look forward to seeing you all again soon.
Absolutely fabulous
Five Fields offers the best meals I have ever had. The chef creates lovely, surprising dishes that feel wholesome, not precious. He sources his vegetables and game from his own farm. The vegetables command as much attention as the fish and meat. We argued with ourselves about which was the best course and could not decide. I'm leaning toward the poached oyster, or maybe the beet stuffed with eel. Or, maybe the lobster and truffle, Or, maybe the foie gras amuse bouche. Every dish displayed wonderful creativity in taste, texture, and presentation.
The service could not be better; it is beautifully choreographed. The servers have a thorough knowledge of the food and clearly care that you are having a good time.
The wine list is excellent, beautifully curated by the sommelier Agnieszka Sweicka, whose knowledge and enthusiasm for wine cannot be matched.
The room is lovely and comfortable.
All in all, always a memorable experience, full of unexpected vistas.
Wonderful experience highly recommended
We decided to treat ourselves to a romantic pre-Christmas break to London. We wanted to try somewhere new and are so glad that we did. We had a corner table which allowed us to look out onto the restaurant floor, enabling us to watch the impeccable service which really is on a par to the sublime food. Each course was tantalising to the eye and to the tastebuds. Whilst this was an expensive meal it was truly worth it for the experience and memories.
We will definitely be discussing this Restaurant for years to come.
Just gets better and better
Back for the first time in a year, or more. Who knows with Covid time. Anyway, so very happy to report that this restaurant is just getting better and better. Best meal we've ever had here. Excited to come back. Excited for their future. Do go.

Be the first to Replybetter than ballet or theatre
Have you ever wondered whether to go to the theatre or to the ballet, or instead to go out for a meal? A difficult decision of course but if you go to the Michelin starred Five Fields restaurant in Blacklands Terrace you can satisfy all three desires!
The food tastes wonderful and original, but perhaps we should have offered you four opening options, the fourth being an art gallery, because in the Taster Menu, there is a work of art on every plate. As well as being a black belt cook (third dan), Taylor Bonnyman, the creator/owner/head chef of this beautifully appointed small restaurant, not only grows all the food he serves, but designs every plate as though it were headed for the Saatchi Gallery just across the Kings Road.
It is the personnel who are also fascinating. Not the guests, but the staff: the team, the cast, the corps de ballet. Just to watch their co-ordinated action was riveting. No dish laid down or collected by one performer: there are two if there are two diners, four if there are four and, wonder of wonders, six if there are six of the corps for six diners! Not only waiters and waitresses, because the manager and the head waiter and the sommelier can all play a part to perfection, with the sommelier of course also drifting through the tables as a solo performer. There is tension with this theatre too, the tension that comes from people seeking to perform perfectly. They all have to move about the floor and they use a technique, which I have never noticed before, of lightly touching the back of a fellow performer if they pass behind them, to signal proximity, to prevent a false step backwards which might result in a drop being spilt or a glass broken.
If you can, book a corner table, particularly one that gives a good view of the stage and the space near the entrance to the kitchen, from which, like the orchestra in the pit, the team produce wonderful music without being seen.
As we have emphasised, the combination of never before experienced tastes of these unique creations is exquisite, as many better qualified people have judged, and the Michelin Star is rightly deserved. The total experience needs to be enjoyed. We sat from 7.30 to 11 p.m. with never a dull second and all senses stimulated, enhanced by that fact that every item in every dish in the Taster Menu was explained meticulously by our charming waitress Michaela, from its components and preparation to the chefโs recommendation as to the suggested order of consumption if more than one dish was brought to the table for
that course.
For a wonderful and unique combination of theatre, ballet, and gastronomic artistry,
choose The Five Fields for a matchless combination of theatre, ballet, and gastronomic artistry.

Almost perfect experience
Another in my food pilgrimage.
Itโs quite a small venue but superbly organised and presented.
Staff are very good at what they do!
The taster menu was superb, hard to list a star dish as all were quite superb.
The venison and the lemon curd ice cream courses stood out! I had a slight faux pas when I spilt a course and they cleared it up very efficiently.
Toilets beautifully clean
Slightly sad not to get the chance to meet chef, as is my joy, not sure the reason was credible but hey ho! Met some amazing chefs in my time.
Sublime.
We are not fans of tasting menus, and we only went to Five Fields because the head sommelier is a friend. Suffice it to say that this was one of the most memorable lunches we have ever had.
It is a lovely and very comfortable room. The service is impeccable.
The food is almost too beautiful to eat, but eat we did, and it was outstanding. The amuse bouche are clever and tasty. The first course of fennel paste and poached oyster was full of unexpected horizons. The pickled carrots with the Scottish lobster tail were so tasty that we almost ignored the lobster. The crispy rabbit sausage course was spectacular, and, again, the veg was a star: charred gem lettuce may not sound exciting, but that's only because you haven't tasted it yet. The short rib was the best I've ever had, perfectly cooked and like butter. Again, the veg were outstanding: the artichoke and girolles, as well as the spinach roll, were the perfect accompaniments to the rich, luscious meat. The pre-dessert of fig leaf ice cream and caramelized almonds offered a wonderful contrast of textures-- as did many of the dishes-- and it was the perfect palate cleanser. I am not much of a dessert fan, but I could not resist the apple mousse with hazelnut ice cream, not too sweet and full of flavor.
The sommelier has chosen a superb wine list, with some very good choices by the glass.
This is a farm to table restaurant, and it really shows in the interesting and delicious vegetable dishes. They also source their own game, so we look forward to going back when the season starts.
This chef is an artist of the first rank, who is all about freshness, flavour, texture, and beauty. There is nothing superfluous or precious here. Just impeccably sourced ingredients, ingenious recipes, and exquisitely presented food.
We will definitely be going back.
