Would recommend for Sunday Lunch
Fantastic gastro pub, visited for the first time for Sunday lunch with the family. Good portion size, good quality food and value for money. Restaurant was very busy but the staff were extremely attentive and welcoming. We all had an enjoyable dining experience. We will be visiting again.

Brilliant experience. Tasty innovative gastro pub food. The roast beef flavor could be enhanced with a bit of shallots added to the gravy with a dash of garlic. Excellent service, friendly staff, top quality smoked salmon and beetroot tartare. Great ambiance. Yummy desserts. Will be back again for sure

Visited with wife and parents, food was of a good quality although portions are small in my opinion. Staff were attentive although there was no cocktail or beer list in the restaurant, only wine. Cocktail menu given verbally and the basic chosen one was £15 which was a little on the expensive side, I would usually expect to pay £10-£12. Unfortunately we won’t be returning as there are so many other options that offer better value and choice.

Limited menu and sparse food, which consisted of a tiny piece of meat, two tiny pieces of turnip🤷 ♂️ and one leaf of Cavolo Nero, just remember to order extra chips (they were nice). Won’t be going again.
Be the first to ReplyNice food but a little 'nouvelle cuisine' quantity wise.
I had dinner here for the first time in a while and noted it had had a refurbishment with different decor in the main restaurant which was nicer than before. The extension area is still the same which is a shame as it is characterless and cold. We weren't in there but were seated near it so felt the draught from there. The food was very nice in terms of tastes and looks but not a hearty meal! The humous starter was very nice and good portion with tasty humous, a few chick peas and some perfectly toasted, crisp flatbread. The hake main course came with red onion, celeriac and broccoli spears. It was tasty but not filling. The celeriac was bland and only two chip sized piece so not really what I'd hoped for as that was the carbohydrate of the meal. We ordered carrots and smoked ricotta as a side dish. We didn't fancy the ricotta mixed in with the carrots so that was served separately. It didn't feel good value at £5 for a few steamed carrots and a dollop of ricotta. The food is lovely here but you need more than one course or a lot of side dishes to feel full after a meal.

Came in on Monday and was served by the lovely Kate. She was so attentive and friendly, I had never been to the area before or even this pub and she made sure I was well looked after and gave me some local tips! Had an amazing artichoke risotto which I am still dreaming about now, I will 100% be back

We had a delicious Sunday lunch. The fox is a busy pub but we didn’t feel rushed in the slightest. Food was plentiful hot and delicious. The staff were extremely professional and friendly. We will definitely be back

Eight of us have just had a delicious Sunday lunch at The Fox. The food starters were very tasty and the roasts were amazing. I had the chicken which was very tender and others had the beef and pork. We all agreed the it was a delicious. The desserts we had were apple and rhubarb crumbles and the coconut crème caramel with a pineapple salsa. Again they were delicious. The crumble is a big dessert but beautifully made. Service was very good, big shout out to our waiter Fred who was very nice and happy young man.

We booked a table and were 15 minutes early - that was not an issue and we were taken straight to our table. The service was friendly and unobtrusive. The mushroom starter was divine and the steak excellent and perfectly cooked. We will be returning.

Amazing pub for food. Good quality. Reasonable prices and decent wine list. Would definitely recommend. We had the lamb chipolatas and hash browns. Both were good. Lamb chipolatas were soft, meaty and tasty. Little heavy on the oil in the sauce/ dressing they came with. The hash browns were crispy on the outside and I’d say more mash/ crushed potato on inside rather than the grated potato of a hash brown. But they were still delicious. The seafood pasta had a good amount of seafood and a good sauce with a nice spicy kick. The gnocchi with mushrooms was sublime. Light and fresh. The gnocchi were well made. The dish could have done with a touch more seasoning. Finished with the salted caramel tart which was a perfect way to finish the meal. The tart was light but decadent without being overly Rich and heavy. Will be back and definitely recommend. There’s a car park at the back that does tend to be fairly full so something to keep in mind.

The food here was amazing. Such fab quality and amazing staff. Shame I live a bit far from here as this would def become a local ❤️

Called in here without making a reservation and enjoyed a good meal. There was a reasonable selection of beers and ciders on tap. Opted for the burger and there was a sufficient amount to fill me. Nice surroundings and pleasant enough staff. Certainly go back.

We used to eat out a lot on Sundays and have had many roasts of differing levels. Since lockdown we don’t go out as much-purely because of the cost! My family needed a January Treat! I’ve never been anywhere with such friendly, attentive staff (well The Gavroche, but I can’t count that!). The food was brilliant! Beef was amazing, and the kids meal good value. The cheese I had, came with the most delightful relish! It wasn’t cheap-but we wanted a treat.

Visited today for Sunday roast, food luke warm, awful tasting potatoes, uncooked parsnips. This is not what we are used to at The Fox, had better roast meals for half the price. Service was good.
Be the first to ReplyBelated mothers day do as other family comitments
Very disappointed...cold food and gf desert terrible..parsnip and carrots raw.. service good. you should advertise card only option and no cash. Hot food would be good...cold plates..in bar area got very crowded sisters chair hit on numerous occasions. parking an issue...service good..kitchen let you down..expected a lot more as last meal so much better...such a shame

Just had lunch at The Fox Willian, food is average especially for a 2 AA rosette restaurant, menu limited and nowhere near as nice as I remember it when we visited pre covid.

What an amazing little gem of a place on the outskirts of Letchworth! I have been surprised by the fantastic room I have. The attention to detail is excellent and presentation is very inviting.
The absolute best bit though is the food! I sat in the bar and ordered some bbq wings and a cajun burger with triple cooked fat chips.
I've eaten plenty of wings and had lots of burgers but I have to say both surpassed my previous experiences not only in presentation. But because of the absolute gorgeous flavours. Truly wonderful and well worth a visit just based on this. The staff are friendly and engaging too. A great experience to endure if you're away from home!
Well done The Fox.
Awful Mother’s Day meal
Despite booking in advance, was squeezed round a table in the bar, which we could barely get our legs under.
Would strongly advise against going for the nut roast - this fell apart when a knife and fork when near it, making it totally inedible as it was in millions of pieces. There is also very limited vegetarian/vegan options.
Service was dreadful - examples being that waiters tried to clear the table before we had all finished eating. We ordered a side, which came out after everyone had finished their mains. This was after asking twice. Then just as we was leaving.. overhearing one of the waitresses shouting to another colleague in the bar ‘you don’t talk to me like that’.
Don’t go if there is a function on
We were only offered bar food as there was a function (we weren’t told this on booking). The menu was limited but 2 out of 6 of us ordered the Oysters, both of those two were sick in the night…
My risotto didn’t resemble a risotto and was awful. The burgers were good and the wine and gin were of great quality.
I have had good meals here but this was so very disappointing
Sunday lunch
Sunday birthday celebration
I ordered nut roast which was very disappointing, dry, tough and tasteless, price £16.50
Drinks order forgotten buy staff who had to be reminded but then took ages to arrive
Sunday lunch birthday celebration,
Sunday lunch birthday celebration, I ordered nut roast which was dry, hard and tasteless, very disappointing. Drinks orders forgotten with staff having to be reminded.
Not a great experience and one I’m not in a hurry to repeat.
Disappointing
Been to the Fox several times before. Previously good. This visit was a real let-down. Sunday roast - the beef was very tough, was difficult to cut, even with a steak knife and was very chewey. The roast spuds tasted as if they had been made the week before :( . A waitress asked how the food was and, on getting the (very polite) negative feedback, she disappeared and didn't return. Not a good experience, I'm afraid!

We stopped here for a quick lunch whilst visiting our friend, we'd had a nice walk locally with her little Jack Russell Harry and came across this little gem. The staff were friendly let us sit in the bar with the dog and we ordered from the bar menu. Me and my partner had Steak Frites with chimichuri and truffle fries. The steak was cooked to perfection served on a hot stone board and truffle fries were lovely! Our friend had Fish and Chips which was also lovely fluffy cod in a Crispy batter. Well done team will be back for a Sunday Roast!
