it's been a while since i've been down here- but again, exceptional experience. we sat at the bar and got served by Marchello again, who was absolutely lovely. the great conversation and attentiveness always adds to my experience. the music was amazing as usual, we went on saturday night to catch the late set. (the best night to go if you're debating!)

We were visiting the hotel after a great dinner at The Water Grill down the street. I walked down the stairs to check out the Georgian Room restaurant to see if I would be interested in making a reservation. Great atmosphere and great piano player. However, after being there for about a minute, I was told by a very unfriendly manager that I was not welcome as I had no reservation. I said this was not very customer friendly, as how could anyone assess if they wanted to dine there, and he said I could report it. On the way out, I saw the manager again on the main level and I said we would not be returning, and he said "Great!" In today's competitive dining world, what a wonderful way to engender respect and a fine reputation amongst potential (and limited) customers who are willing to spend hundreds of dollars for an evening meal.
Be the first to ReplyLoved our evening at the Georgian Room.
They have a couple things to figure out. First is the live music. So we were there on a Wednesday. Piano player was good but he was done before 9, which then turned the small venue into just another bar. The food was excellent. Would return just for the dinning experience we had at the bar. The bartender was amazing. We actually are likely to hire for one of our parties. However ambience gets a two star. It's an old storage converted to be special. However to be special you have to limit parties to four no more otherwise the sound level from one party of 10 became the focal point of the venue even over the piano player. Honestly Micelis Italian restaurant does a better job with their piano players.

Great drinks, delicious food, fantastic service and great music. We left after being there for hours then ran into more friends who wanted to check it out so went down for another hour.

Last night we had"Spaghetti Sunday" in the Georgian Room at the Georgian Hotel in beautiful Santa Monica. Omg the room itself is just gorgeous and intimate. Then the food started coming... starting with absolutely the best garlic bread we have ever had. Absolutely mouthwatering! The ceaser salad followed and it too was amazing! Spaghetti served family style was superb. We each ( four of us had different mains). Branzino, sausage and onions, chicken parm and the chefs special meatballs. Each one was better than the next. Wonderfully home style at its best. Chef David and his kitchen staff outdid themselves. Ok then the desserts. Mint chocolate ice cream sandwich and apple cobbler dish. We just had to eat them all! If you can get a reservation I say go as soon as you can!!

The delicious food, the wonderful service and the incredibly beautiful and iconic setting of the Georgian Room is an experience you won't forget. The Georgian Hotel is equally impressive. The rooms are gorgeous!!
Be the first to ReplyWe had a reservation for 8:45.
Didn't get seated until 9:15 after no one answering when we buzzed in. It was not the table we requested but the worst seats at the end of the bar. They said someone wouldn't leave our table so WE left instead.

.. if you're looking for amazing food drinks and live music in LA - look no further. First of all I was greeted at the door by a handsome man named Alan. Wow what a great start to the unforgettable night ahead. I walked into the downstairs area and was brought back into the old Hollywood swanky underground world which made me feel like I was in a movie. The band was unbelievable. Let's give it up for Alexandra Starr - she is born to be a performer. That place is lucky to have her. Her energy and charisma is unmatched, she clearly loves what she does. She walked around the bar, hypnotising all of us with her unbelievable voice and magnetic star power . The food was delicious. I had the petite fillet. I wish I took pictures of it to post here but my phone camera was covered with a sticker by the man at the door. After we finished eating, we sat at the bar to listen to the band finish up their next set and got a round of beverages. The bartender made us a drink so good, it had me texting my ex asking for a reconciliation. Thank you Marcello, you're truly a legend. Also shoutout to our server Millie who was incredible and had an amazing energy. Will definitely be coming back on another Saturday night in the near future.
Be the first to ReplyWe showed up to the restaurant on time.
After waiting 30 minutes, we were not "escorted" to our table downstairs. Not sure what vibe they are solving for here but given all the other options in Santa Monica, I would not to try this restaurant. Capo for example.
Be the first to ReplyA must experience! Grab a drink or try their amazing food.
1933 original hotel, beautifully designed with gorgeous decor and unique ambiance. Service was outstanding. After realizing we made reservations for the wrong night, the main Hostess was kind and able to seat us. Live music playing, wonderful service, amazing food and a variety of unique cocktails. I will be back
Be the first to ReplyGreat vibe! Very much old Hollywood in Santa Monica.
The musical acts were lively but still at a good volume to enjoy some crudo and cocktails (which were outstanding). Super friendly and helpful service. It's expensive but a very fine place to come and splurge.

We tried having a drink here last night and were incredibly disappointed. The spot has a great vibe, and after getting seated we placed a drink order. The bar was not busy whatsoever yet we waited over 35 minutes for our drinks. The bartender every time we looked up was standing around or talking not making any drinks. After asking the waitress as well as the hostess what the holdup was with no drinks still arriving, we walked out. Will not return anytime soon.
Be the first to ReplyI got stood up today, and it's probably the best decision
I got stood up today, and it's probably the best decision she's ever made. I met a beautiful woman in France a few months ago, found out we both lived in LA, and when we both got back States-side, I asked her out. She said yes and I had the perfect reservation: the famed Georgian Room. She stood me up today, but you're not here to read about my dating life (or lack thereof). I was bummed when she backed out, so I asked my buddy Josh to come out for a boys' night. His wife gave him the green light, so we made our way to TGR. Throughout the day, I kept receiving texts that "I was due at the Georgian Room at 8PM sharp," so I took the punctuality seriously. But alas, I was misled. We get to the Georgian Hotel at 8:05, and there seems to be some issue with my reservation. I'm left in the dark, and we are asked to take a seat at the hotel bar. Zero communication, no free drinks, and in fact, not even a feigned apology. We are then escorted at 8:25, almost a full half-hour after my reservation, downstairs. The dรฉcor is nice, though it feels a bit cramped and a bit loud (more on this later). Since it's just the two of us, we are seated at the end of the bar. A lot of hoopla is made about not taking pictures, and exclusivity, and all that, but the clientele seems pretty standard Santa Monica fare. Old men with overly-young women, the occasional business meeting, and a few dates are sprinkled throughout. It was a boys' night and I had a rough day, so whisky was in order. And we were in a speakeasy-inspired joint, after all. We start out with drinks: their signature rum-infused twist on the classic Old Fashioned. This was okay-ish, but overly sweet and difficult to drink. It was served in one of those awkward cognac goblets that made me paranoid I was constantly dribbling the Nectar of the Gods on my lapel. I wasn't particularly hungry, and neither was my compatriot, so we decided to just do a few rounds of oysters, the tuna tartare, and other small bites. Our waitress, an intimidating brunette, immediately shunned us: "we like to get the entire order up front!" Well, you see, I'm not sure what I'm in the mood for, how hungry I am, and at a place of this caliber, I would expect service to be free flowing and natural. We're about to spend more than $200 dollars a head, can I at least try to enjoy myself? Besides, I just got stood up, lady! We got more drinks. Maybe more libations would lubricate our rocky relationship with our raucous waitress. This time, we get two traditional Old Fashioneds. The bourbon offering is sparse, but adequate. The drink is well-balanced, but missing a key ingredient: the Maraschino cherry. Now, to the uninitiated, this may seem like a small nit, but I assure you that it's not. The cherry is as key to the Old Fashioned as the olive is to the Martini. And then the music started. As mentioned, we were at the end of the bar, right next to the piano and what would later be a makeshift band: full with a bass player and a vocalist. Now, for the record, I'm a big fan of live music. I think Los Angeles could improve not just because of the dating scene (seriously, I can't believe she bailed on me!), but because compared to cities like New York or Chicago, it's so dang hard to find live music. But this is absolutely not the way to do it. When I say the "music was loud" I don't mean loud in the way your grandpa means it. I mean it in the sense that me and my friend (two fully grown strapping young lads) had to literally yell at the top of our lungs to hear one another. The musicians were perfectly nice people, and we made some small talk with the three of them, but this is a clear lapse on the part of management. It's beyond distracting and thank God I didn't have a girl with me, because it would've been extremely disruptive. The music choice itself was also, shall we say, odd. It wasn't vibe-y jazz or blues. It was a strange mish-mash of modern songs at a slower pace. Overall: too much singing, too loud, too incongruous with the look and feel. Our drinks were empty and we had to flag down our waitress to get a re-up. This time, I asked about the cherry, and she reassured me that they do indeed have Maraschinos. Spoiler alert: they do not. The cherries in our subsequent drinks were decidedly not the right ones. It may seem like I'm being nit-picky, but when a place can't even get a classic cocktail right, it's disappointing to say the least. A few more drinks and oysters, and we called it a night. Overall, service was poor, from the mishandled reservation time, to the oddly discourteous waitress, drinks were mediocre, music was loud. And, this might be personal taste, but for the love of all that is classy, please impose a dress code. There were a handful of men wearing graphic tees. Talk about a vibe-killer. And if my French crush ever reads this, standing me up was clearly the right thing to do, even if it was just to get out of going to The Georgian Room.
