Messed Up Order made Good
Started my Sunday evening at Sunny’s for a few drinks, made my way to Fort Defiance for an Irish coffee and planned to end my evening with takeout food from the Good Fork. Having never been to the Goid Fork I was excited to try their food since I’m a huge fan of Gage & Tollner their sister restaurant. Ordered a beer while I waited for my food. Opened my order when I got home and unfortunately the food order got messed up. I spoke with management and they did agree to reverse the charge for the messed up item. I suppose mistakes do happen so I’m going to leave a positive review. But I sorely miss that I never had the opportunity to try their cheesesteak and was stuck with a Sheppard pie in its place. Dinner ruined. Sigh :(

I arrived here with high expectations, the word was this place is great and lo, for once in NYC, it turned out to be even better than I imagined. Our server was sweary, which as a Brit always makes me feel at ease and the food arrived swiftly and was, I kid you not, perhaps some of the best I had in New York in a week and half of treating myself. Super savoury, super flavourful, super good. All the supers. Worth a detour to Red Hook to get some of this comfort food in your life. And swearing, plenty of swearing.

We are unfamiliar with Brooklyn and thought the Red Hook neighborhood might be dodgy, but it turned out fine. The outdoor seating was quiet and comfortable. We ordered the scallion pancake for openers, and the short ribs and skate for entrees. Each dish was terrific. We’d be glad to return and continue sampling the other creative things on the menu.

Had a group of friends going to make chocolate at Raaka and this lovely place was willing to give us a reservation. Small and charming with lovely outdoor seating. Limited menu with interesting items. Great blood orange (fresh squeezed) mimosas. We all had different items and everyone was happy. Best local key line pie -better than Joes Stonecrab in Miami! Will come again-excellent waitstaff as well!

Fork is not the four letter word that I would choose to describe the service here. My suggestion is to bring your own snacks because you may get hungry sitting idly with only your drink for nourishment. After an hourlong wait I had to call out for a crust of bread. My Duvel beer was served in a snifter glass which maintains a head on the beer but when the head subsided it revealed a bug in my beer. I flagged down a waitress and she helpfully took my spoon, flicked the bug out and then handed me back the glass and the spoon. My companions and the people at the adjacent table all were appalled.
It was not all so weird. The food when it eventually arrived was tasty and had it arrived in a timely manner my opinion would have been substantially better. PS. I never finished the beer.
Solid brunch choice in quant Red Hook
Enjoyed a day of walking around Red Hook... Good Fork offered a tasty offering of brunch items. I had the avocado toast, which was really delicious, and had pickled onions/deviated slightly from your everyday avocado toast. Liked the bacon. Friend liked her salad. Would return. It was crowded and we were lucky to get a table so would recommend reservations.

Have been staying in the red hook area for the first time and have tried a lot of the local eateries . The Good Fork stands out head and shoulders above the others! Small but varied menu with a Korean twist ,the cooking has been excellent , staff very friendly . Would recommend very much ,shame we are leaving !!

Came for brunch. The food is Korean fusion, and the flavors and meal were spot-on. The decor is funky. Service was attentive but not overly so. Save room for a piece of Steve's Key Lime pie. Ample street parking closeby
Be the first to ReplyMy favorite real restaurant in New York!
Get the dumplings to start and a glass of wine white. Then a glass of red with steak and eggs and kimchee! My wife and I have been coming here for a decade!
