Went to dinner last week to celebrate a birthday.
We had 6:15 reservations we arrived 5 minutes early but they would not sit us until the clock struck the time of reservation. Dinner room and table was large and comfortable but noisy when full.. Menu was varied such that even my grandchildren found something to select. We had appetizers to share e.g. truffle pizza was excellent as was beef tartare. To accompany the main meal we ordered a bottle of red wine, however it arrived ice cold. When we complained they said it just came out of their wine cellar, it took awhile before it warmed up to really appreciate the wine, a disappointment. The main meals were served nicely except we needed to ask for dinner plates for those sharing the aged steak for two (they gave us cocktail plates originally). However, we found most of the dishes were over salted , especially the fish dishes.

It wasn't a too busy of a night yet just bad food for a John George spot. Dinner for 2 was over $300 which was expected. I ordered meals based off suggestions of top dishes. Ordered about 5 different dishes all were average in taste and quantity. Wine was above average at $20+ glass. Liquor drinks were extremely weak. Service was 9/10 and was on point. Wish we could have her at every restaurant. Ambiance is nothing to write home about as it hasn't really changed since 90's. The place was really dark and everyone around use had to use the candle to read the menu. The table next to us was complaining to each other about their dessert loudly and their waiter still didn't pickup their hint of being unhappy. In No rush to go back.
Be the first to ReplyI am the biggest fan of Jean George and I have been to most
I am the biggest fan of Jean George and I have been to most of his restaurants. This was third time at the Inn. It has changed drastically from my first visit which was amazing, the second time was during Covid so the menu was limited (understandably) so it had a casual feel to it. The staff was amazing as it always is but the food lacked. For appetizers, we ordered a dip which was between a soft consistency like an apple sauce mixed with a humus texture. It was okay but it was served with soft pita. What it needed was something with a crunch. The shrimp salad was delicious which was the recommendation from the server but it could had been cut a bit on the plate vs large leaves of lettuces, plating was off. We ordered pizza which was amazing and the scallops which were overcooked. For dessert, it was a cupcake which was very dry. It was disappointing as I always look forward to dining in Jean's restaurants. I get excited to know I will experience fabulous food and service. This will not stop me from enjoying his restaurants in the future. But, some things need to be addressed.

This place has lovely ambience, attentive staff, and great food. The only thing that prevents me from giving this place 5 stars are the prices. I've had a lot of excellent meals all over the place at more reasonable prices. I'm perfectly willing to splurge on an upscale dining experience. I know these are not budget options. But three dinners, three apps, and a couple rounds of drinks approached $500 for three people. Ok. Enough about that. The food was very good. Grilled octopus, scallops, and steak tartare were all expertly prepared as was my cocktail. The wait staff and kitchen timed the delivery of everything extremely well. If you want an upscale experience and don't mind paying more than a little extra, go for it! I might recommend something else if friends want to go there again.
Be the first to ReplyThis place was fantastic from the time we walked in.
The service was amazing. The drinks were even better, and the food and desserts were to die for we will definitely be back here. Thank you guys. The fire was warm and cozy compliments of Troy.

As always, the food is excellent, service is solid, and ambiance is great. I'd give it 5 stars if it weren't for the above normal prices. $30-$33 bottle of Cloudy Bay sells for $134.....mind boggling. We did try a new appetizer for us, the Octopus la plancha, and it was fantastic! Otherwise, we love this place and will continue to return for special occasions as we have since 1995.
Be the first to ReplyWe ventured out to the Inn at Pound Ridge for brunch.
We made reservations for noon thinking that everyone will come out later but we were wrong. Cars were lined up waiting for them to open. The ambiance is beautiful, a nice friendly environment. We started brunch off with cocktails - a Whiskey Cider and a Blood Orange Bellini. Both cocktails were well prepared with a great presentation and tasted really good. For brunch we ordered the French Toast with Caramelized apples with a side of bacon and the Cheddar Cheeseburger with Frizzled onions and Yuzu pickles. The presentation was awesome and the food tasted as good as it looked. I was glad I was able to add a fried egg to the burger. The portions were plentiful and well worth the money. It was time for another round of cocktails. This time we ordered the Cucumber Martini and the Ginger Margarita. The presentation was on point and the drinks were well prepared. We were extremely pleased with our second round of cocktails. The wait staff works as a team, so they are constantly checking to make sure everything is okay. The Inn at Pound Ridge is definitely worth the trip. It may be a little pricey if you have too many cocktails but it's worth it especially if you are not driving.
Be the first to ReplyRecommend this restaurant overall based on my many
Recommend this restaurant overall based on my many experiences here, but last night was not the best visit. I tried to forget the more than half a dozen local guests that have taken on a California valley girl accent. I have never thought this place pretentious until last night when I sat at the bar for drinks and dinner. The couple next to me decided to get a table because I sat in the chair next to them. They must have thought they reserved a 1,200 square ft air bnb. Lots of attitude, but all from the guests. The staff are amazing. Now to the food - Tuna tartare and ginger margarita were amazing as usual. However, beef tenderloin was very very blah at $58. Not good. Ordered a side of the oyster mushrooms with jalapeños - it was absolutely horrible. I let the server know when he asked but with no response. All in all, $160 meal not worth $50. Will stick to the basic apps and drinks moving forward, as well as take ear buds for the locals who are in conversation - as they somehow have arrived at at God like level with insignificant concerns and valley girl pitch tones.

Be the first to ReplyBeware of holiday menus/reservations! We were stuck there
Beware of holiday menus/reservations! We were stuck there for 4 hours and left with 2 of our three courses. My family made reservations here for Christmas Dinner. My mom is a senior citizen, so our reservations were at 3:45p. We waited at the bar for 20-30 min & checked w the hostess at 4:15p. She took us to their downstairs, which was louder and more crowded. We rolled with it... My mother mentioned how our waiters looked like lumberjacks. She had a point. This seemed like a "homier" pub-style restaurant, very different than what we saw upstairs. However, we were blind to the red flags. Once seated, it took another 30 min to get our waiter's attention to ask if we could order some wine. We immediately got a lot of apologies from the waiter, "I've got some big tables," "I'm so sorry we are backed up," "we have a lot going on here..." We just wanted wine. I've been a waitress and I recognized the look of panic in our server's eyes. Management screwed up big time. We ordered our choices for the prixe fixe menu, but at 4:30p they were already out of the lobster. The amuse bouche was a "truffle fritter" but tasted like a fried goat cheese ball. It was a nice tasting dime-size fried goat cheese ball. Several tables near us were beginning to "compare notes." One table of was waiting 2 hours and still waiting for their main course. I also overheard a manager & server discussing issues with timing in the kitchen/"firing the orders." The butternut squash soup was nice but it came with more chives than soup. The meals were served on butcher block paper placemats. I wish we had brought crayons. After my mom's 2nd glass of rose & the tables 2nd round of cold stale bread, our server said our mains were enroute. We asked him if we could get our desserts to go & he agreed. However, after another 30 min without our mains, we asked for our mains to be wrapped up too. As we left, we saw the staff adding 3-4 chairs to a table for four, making a table for 8. During our dinner, one manager or someone who looked "in charge" visited every table, but avoided ours. The dinner service was shockingly awful. The cost was $185 per person. The food was ok...the portions were pretty small. When we got home, we weighed my tenderloin and it was 4oz. After arriving at 3:30pm we realized we had spent 4 hours having rose, soup & cold bread. How could this be a Jean-Georges restaurant? I have had better service at a Sizzler. I would AVOID or cancel any upcoming NYE reservations after having their Christmas Dinner. To the management: you overbooked your reservations, your decorations looked stale, the portions you served your patrons were pitiful & you overburdened your waitstaff. I thought this was supposed to be a nice dinner, as did others dressed up for dinner. However, this looked like a disaster. We will never be back.

Overpriced and poor service!! Dark stairwells and bathroom odors! Small quantity on sharing plates and very high prices! Wait staff was quick to remove unfinished plates. Very disappointing!

The atmosphere is pretty, until you sit down and try to talk to your table mates. The music in the cozy restaurant is LOUD and not in keeping with the vibe. They blasted michael Jackson and fleetwood mac... and we asked to move to a more quiet area because we were right under a speaker. The waiter said okay and agreed that the music was loud. The manager came over and said, "sorry, but we can't lower the music because we are not allowed to". It made no sense. The playlist was so agitating but we were hungry and kept going... the new table was more private but the music was still loud. So... no refills on water. When you go to a high end restaurant you expect good bus service...we had to ask for water every 15 minutes. My friend ordered the salmon and a salad. The salmon was underwhelming and dry, the salad was small and underseasoned. I had a burger with fries.. they must have put five fries in the container. Very cheap food to offer such a small portion. Friend drank perseco, it was fine. The bill? a nice whopping $165 for a mediocre meal. Not going back

I was really excited to try this restaurant and even drove over an hour to get there. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed with the experience. The food was lackluster and didn't live up to the hype. My dish (sea bass) was overcooked and lacked any real flavor. To make matters worse, the restaurant was cramped and uncomfortable. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. It was a big letdown and not worth the time or money.

Love the atmosphere of this restaurant and the food was delicious! The wait staff was great. I loved the pumpkin seed crusted salmon with delicata although the presentation was lacking. I think they could have done something with the squash aside from cutting it in half and putting it upside down. The whole cauliflower was delicious and spinach side was also amazing. Everyone loved their food. Scallops and burger were perfectly cooked. Calamari was delicious and not over done but there just too much tahini on the delicata squash dip! Heavy pour! I would have loved a crudités option with it. Still give it 5 stars because those are nit-picky things. Also, carrot cake was AMAZING! Could eat a tub of that frosting with a spoon.
Be the first to ReplyThe food was amazing.
The crispy sushi and the shrimp salad were my favorite starters. The fillet was cooked to perfection. I couldn't decide on what to drink but the bar manager (long blond hair) made the best suggestion and helped me pick out a drink to go with my meal. Not to mention the ambiance, 10/10. Will definitely be going back.
Be the first to ReplyBest filet I've had in years.
Delicious butter lemon sauce was sublime. Service was friendly and atmosphere rustic but serene.
Be the first to ReplyWe came here for dinner a week ago for my husbands birthday.
The service was excellent, lovely wait staff and very attentive. The ambiance is excellent, gorgeous space. Overall I was a bit underwhelmed by the food. My tuna tartare starter was delicious, really on point. As was my husbands beet salad. However, my main course, the Rigatoni with Meatballs, Smoked Chili Tomato Ragu was really odd. It almost bad a barbecue sauce taste to it and was oddly tangy. The meatballs themselves were just Ok. Very disappointing. My husband got the beef and wasn't impressed with it either. For the price the main courses just didn't deliver. I would be open to trying again as our starters were delicious and it's a lovely spot. But some of the main courses need to be tweaked.

If you are ready to overspend, be underwhelmed with food, be shuffled off to the worst table because you are neither young, nor beautiful then look no further. The Inn at Pound Ridge is resting on some very old laurels- and taking their supercilious ego to a level unmatched by anything other than price. To top the cake, downstairs in the bar, one bathroom had an 'out of order' sign on it and the other had an overflowing garbage that spilled all over the floor and countertop and the manager (tragically hip) seemed annoyed that I was bringing this to his attention. Service ok-ish. Ambiance- get over yourself. Go anywhere else!
Be the first to ReplyI feel the need to update this review.
I used to love this place but the past two visits have been underwhelming to say the least. Slow and inattentive service (took 20 mins after drink order to take our food order), and unacceptable food. Calamari overly salty, issues with steak temperature and doneness, sea bass came gummy and accompanied by a pool of mustard and plain mini bits of cauliflower fit for a picky child. Dessert was great, however. Unfortunately we are going to take an extended break from visiting the Inn as the quality here is not what it was years ago (see my first review!). I regret not just "safely" ordering a burger or pizza but at a place like this you'd think the entrees would impress.
Be the first to ReplyGreat venue but average food at best for brunch.
Not all the apps were delivered to the table initially so after waiting 5-10 minutes it was apparent based on the servers reaction the third app was forgotten to either be ordered or made as they scrambled to get it out to us. Our eggs were cooked to different temps on the same plate so while some were nicely runny another on the same plat was hard inside. Burger was just average. Maybe dinner would be a better experience but brunch was disappointing.
Be the first to ReplyWe had a great meal here.
Really high quality ingredients, excellent service and a very comfortable setting. The margherita pizza was excellent and a good appetizer to share. For our mains, we had the chicken and the sea bass. Both were excellent. Recently I've felt like Jean Georges's restaurants have gone down a bit in quality due to over expansion. For example, I'm not a fan of his ABC restaurants. So I had low expectations coming to Inn at Pound Ridge, but was very pleasantly surprised. It's a perfect place to come for a relaxing evening with solid food.

We spent our Valentine's Day as we have since our first in 1995. The restaurant has gone through several iterations with Jean-Georges being the best. A quick story about this evening--the excellent food, drink and ambiance aside--the couple next to us accidentally knocked over a water glass that shattered and pieces flew towards our table and beyond. Without skipping a beat the staff removed everything on our table (food, drink, place settings, drinks, appetizers, etc). They cleaned up the shattered glass and promptly sent us a brand new Burrata appetizer as well as a new martini and glass of Cabernet. In all honesty they didn't need to do that but it wasn't even a question. At the end of the evening I thanked those in charge for their professionalism and going above and beyond to make our evening memorable. And yes, the Wagyu tenderloin, Rigatoni w/Meatballs and Tuna Tartare and Burrata appetizers were fantastic as always. I can't say enough good things about the Inn at Pound Ridge. Thank you as always!

Repeated failures in execution of trademark entrees (such as a simple prosciutto-wrapped pork chop) -- coupled with consistently abysmal service -- have me convinced me to strike this one from the list forever (a tough step to take given limited choices). Seems that the requisite competencies and attention to detail don't (or at least didn't in this case) make easily the 40 mile or so commute.

As a big fan of Jean Georges and having eaten at his NYC restaurant, I was looking forward to a family get-together brunch at The Inn, but left feeling disappointed. It took nearly an hour for our food to be served (with no explanation) and after asking a few times where our food was--ionce served -it was room temperature. One person in our party had the eggs Benedict and the poached eggs were semi hard and not hot. My dish was the Organic Chicken Milanese, which I thought was below average, hard to cut, not hot, and not juicy. It was placed on a thin piece of lettuce with really nothing else to add to the dish. I have had far superior Chicken Milanese at other restaurants in the tristate area with less famous chefs. We had a wonderful time talking and enjoying ourselves, but the bill was high for the quality of food and we left feeling that we would not return. We were 4 for brunch. The staff was polite and friendly, particularly the host. The atmosphere is lively and the decor is lovely with a rustic theme and elegant touches like the lightning and chairs.

Sadly as a local I always have high expectations, & this place disappoints. From a la carte menu with nothing included, and sometimes a miss on the fish, I wish every time it was just a bit better. The staff always are gracious, and I do like the decor.
