Our friends took us here on our first night in town.
The atmosphere is eclectic and beautiful all at once! Especially the women's restroom! (Photo below). I ordered a drink that was supposed to have watermelon liquor but they were out of watermelon so I just got the drink without. I think it would have been much better with it! There were six of us and we shared the most delicious sourdough bread and fried zucchini sticks. Delicious! I opted for the Fish 'n Chips as my main course and was not disappointed! It was a large portion so others got a taste. The fish was light and the batter crispy and not too greasy. The chips were my favorite kind - wide with a soft center and crispy outside. The others were happy with their meals as well. We were all full so we had no room for dessert. Vincent was friendly and attentive. There is an outside area to dine but it was too cold for that. In the summer it would be lovely. I'm taking away one star because I feel if you have a specialty cocktail on the menu, you should all the ingredients to make it.

Service is slow, but it was packed so we attribute the lack of staff for lack of attention. Food and cocktails are delicious, the design and decor, along with the charming area of covent Garden makes this a really wonderful afternoon lunch.! Will return soon!
Be the first to ReplyI loved everything about this restaurant.
The ambiance is amazing, the bathrooms are over the top gorgeous. The waiting staff were friendly and welcoming. I ordered an apricot soda & the chicken milanese, can't say enough about it. Crème brûlée for dessert was perfection.
Be the first to ReplyOkay, you have got to try the Candy Floss Fizz.
It tastes like a fruit sherbet candy with a little kick of ginger!I also enjoyed the grilled haulloumi with fregola. What a fantastic combination of salty, tangy, and fresh.

Nice, upscale date spot with good cocktails and nice food, but still a good representation of British pub culture. My wife and I came here for a date and weren't disappointed. The ambiance combined upscale fancy dining with British pub culture in a way that really worked and the people watching was fun too. There was a mix of locals out for fancy lunches and tourists that were fun to gawk at. We had a paper moon cocktail and an old fashioned and despite coming from DC which is a serious cocktail town, these stood out.If things had just stayed the course from there, it would have been a great date, but the food delivered too. The surprise hit of the meal was the twice-backed cheese and truffle soufflé, which was to die for. It was earthy and funky, but still light and easy to eat. We almost didn't get it and the whole meal would have been worse of if we hadn't. We also got the salmon and Thai prawn curry. The salmon was clearly cooked by a kitchen that knew how to prepare and cook fish (which isn't always the case) and so came out with a seared, slightly crispy outside and moist tender inside. The curry was a surprising twist on what food you might have expected and while not quite the standout of the other food, still really yummy.
Be the first to ReplyGreat place for brunch / lunch.
Staff are friendly and service is good. A bit pricey, but you get what you pay for - worth it for a special occasion.
Be the first to ReplyQuintessential London restaurant.
Awesome vibes and atmosphere. We had great service. We got the bang bang chicken, nuts and olives. All were great. The chicken sauce and veggies in the bang bang chicken were awesome. For dinner we got the fillet and green beans and shepherds pie. The staff From checkin to the drinks and our waiter were attentive and great. Highly recommend!!!

Got turned away because we noticed a rat crawling across the floor and were immediately called liars...worse experience ever...hostess extremely rude...never will return.....
Be the first to ReplyHonestly, 3 stars is rounding up.
Most of the food was good. Flavorful and generally cooked well. We got 2 drinks, 2 starters and 2 entrees.Starters being the steak tartare and twice-baked cheese soufflé. Entrees were the Ivy Shepherds Pie and Pork Chops which was the daily market special. The shepherds pie is good but be warned that it taste quite gamey. I'm not a fan of the pork chops because it tasted like it came straight out of a McDonald's fryer. The service on the other hand is the issue. Service was not only slow but inexperienced and a bit standoffish. I have noticed time and time again the table next to use have been attended to through our time there while we were left abandoned in the corner for 15-20 minutes at a time. After providing our drink orders, no one came to take our dinner orders to the point that our own waiter asked us if anyone has taken our dinner orders. The waiter was unknowledgeable of what the fish of the day was or the daily market special. Not too big of a deal because he asked and provided to us within a few minutes. But placing the order with him seemed like a hard task. You can tell he was completely unfamiliar with the menu, we had to repeat multiple times and correct items he wrong down based on pure assumptions.About 5 minutes later, we had another waiter come over to confirm our starters. We waited and got our starters. From starters to entrees was a 25-30 minute wait. After the entrees, we were given the dessert menu and abandoned for another 15 minutes or so even though it was pretty obvious that we were not interested in ordering anymore. All while, other tables around us were being attended to by the same waiters. Also to note, the dinner knives are so dull, I had to completely give up on using it to do any sort of cutting (not only into the pork chops but broccoli as well). It's honestly quite unfortunate but would not return simply for the poor service. And this is for a Wednesday night (not even a weekend).
Be the first to ReplyA wonderful pre-theater dinner in this neighborhood gem.
This is where I enjoyed my authentic "fish and chips," and the meal did not disappoint. I started with the smoked Scottish Salmon, which was silky, and the diced cucumber offered the freshness that brought a nice balance to the fatty, smokiness. The haddock was enormous, well-seasoned and crispy, and the chips (fries) were impossibly perfect. So very crispy on the outside with fluffy, creamy centers. I didn't have time for dessert (and I actually didn't have room for it, I was so full.) The place was packed throughout my meal... not an empty seat in sight, so be sure to make a reservation!
Be the first to ReplyThe food was very good but the service mediocre.
The kitchen, was very slow and after two hours at our table, despite having ordered multiple rounds of drinks and not yet had the opportunity to order desert we were asked to leave, with an offer to move to their private club, as our "time at the table had expired". The service the entire night was scattered and frantic. Generally, the restaurant feels like an upscale tourist stop and one to avoid. There is far better in London. Surviving on their historic legacy is no longer enough. The restaurant service staff needs to refocus on how to run a proper service or the good quality of the food will not be enough to overcome it.
Be the first to ReplyI enjoyed the Ivy, and would return for a traditional tea
I enjoyed the Ivy, and would return for a traditional tea experience that is a bit more casual and affordable than the local, expensive hotels. I enjoyed a simple cream tea. I loved that it came with fresh cut strawberries, as well as jam and clotted cream. The scones were delicious. The tea was a standard menu, about 6-10 options, nothing outside the norm. The main issue I had was the seating. We had a reservation for 5 for tea, yet they squeezed us into a table meant for 4. And when you're ordering tea and food, that takes up more space than a standard lunch. I felt the price for my cream tea - tea and scones - was reasonable.

Had a very special lunch meeting and was welcomed in, had a great table and the food was stunning. One of the most amazing places in London.

Never going back! Worst meal experience of my life!Simply were asked to leave the restaurant because our kids were being kids! If a restaurant is not appropriated for kids it should have a policy and explicitly inform the clients about it. We were never let known about any of this.During our lunch, after having the starter, one table came to us and, in a very rude and impolite way, demanded that if we could not "control" our kids we should leave the restraint since it was not appropriate for kids. Unfortunately the restaurant manager backed up the request (even after the waiter apologized for the complaint of the table) offering that we take the kids to another room with only one adult, which was not acceptable since the kids hadn't eaten. Anyway, after that the manager asked us to leave. This was just so rude, so humiliating... would never imagine an establishment as The Ivy to treat its clients like that.Sorry to say, but it is was wrecking to us and to our kids. Something that I don't wish on anyone to experience.

One of my all time fave restaurants in London, great ambience , food, prices and customer service.
Be the first to ReplyWe ate here over Christmas week.
It was very crowded and busy but our table was ready on time. Service was a little slow but very accommodating to menu order changes and questions. My husband had the dover sole and said it was probably one of the best he had ever had. One person in our group had the Shepard's Pie and loved it. The scallops and risotto were very good, too. We also had the lamb chops and pork cutlet. All of our orders were delicious. For a fun, busy atmosphere and good food, we would definitely recommend this restaurant.

I've heard lovely things from others about this place and we were lucky enough to be given a Secret Santa gift card to this restaurant. A bit posh, a bit seemingly dated, however pleasant in decor. There's wheelchair accessibility for those who need it: getting through double doors and a ground floor designated rest room. (wash room in the UK).The food stood up to the buzz.A varied menu of what seems to be from the tried and and true peppered along with some tempting curiosities.I had the tempura prawn and squid appetizer which was lovely. Freshly fried with a hint of cilantro I believe. It was seasoned to perfection. For the main course I had The Chicken Milanese.A filet with a curiously tasty sauce along with some of the best (chips) fries I've had. Just crunchy enough. Just the right amount of salt and oh so morish. For pudding (Dessert) I had the blackberry sundae with a shortbread cookie , fresh blackberries and a delicious sauce served on the side to pour on as you please. And of course with a cappuccino.Dudes, I was full!!! I enjoyed the evening. The service was impeccable. The staff: friendly and courteous.Definitely check this place out.Great for a date or a family get together.I would suggest that for a small family or more one should certainly make reservations.Cheers! And well done "The Ivy"!
Be the first to ReplyWalked into this classic place the first night in London
Walked into this classic place the first night in London and what a way to start our vacation! From the moment you walk in, the beauty of the stained glass windows, stunning bar and decor, enhances what a special place you are in.We were unable to secure a reservation for a table but, we were happy to dine at the bar.The service was incredible. Our bartender was helpful in choosing the perfect scotch whiskey to create the perfect Old Fashioned. The menu offered many choices but prix fix menu was perfect. The duck croquettes were fabulous! Tasty, crunchy topping , totally unique. From start to finish, the meal, drinks, service, was impeccable and an amazing way to kick off a vacation. I can see why celebrities live this place!Be sure to book ahead before leaving home. The online booking is easy and the communication was speedy, especially when we had to make some changes to our reservation. The staff was very accommodating.
Be the first to ReplyWe had dinner at The Ivy prior to attending a musical.
You walk into a beautiful and charming restaurant. Rather than order on a the pre-theatre set menu, we choose to a la carte offerings. We highly recommend the following: Burrata tomato salad; Ginger chicken; Bisque soup; Fish and chips; (4) Veal Cutlet and the baked cheese cake. In addition, The Ivy has a nice wine list. The Chablis Colom was very enjoyable. The service was superb. The place was packed with theatre goers, yet, the we were able to enjoy a leisure two hour dinner with out being rushed. We look forward to returning to The Ivy on our next visit to London.
