50th wedding celebration
Can't fault it any way presentation was superb. Food outstanding and staff so attentive. Atmosphere just right not too loud. Was given a plate with happy anniversary written in chocolate and 5 chocolates to eat it as amazing.
Be the first to ReplyGood enough food, butโฆ
Came for lunch with friends. The food was fine - my soufflรฉ was curiously bland but the others enjoyed their starters; the venison was perfect, and the baked Alaska spectacular. But oh dear, the service. While one of our number enjoyed a glass of champagne to start with, we waited and waited for our cocktails (we saw them sitting ready on the bar, and were tempted to get up and fetch them for ourselves - wish we had). Other quibbles: the โcover chargeโ - what does this really mean? Why not just say โwe actually charge for the breadโ? and the automatic 13.5% service charge (creeping up from 10%, then 12.5%, expect 15% next time). I used to really enjoy being made to feel special at The Ivy. The feeling has gone.

Be the first to ReplyNot our best experience at the Ivy
We arrived on a wet and cold lunchtime. The restaurant was very cool. There was a draft coming from somewhere. Ordered veal Milanese and Fish and chips for main courses. Had to send chips back as not hot. Female server was quick and functional but lacked any warmth or personality. One of the female toilets would not flush as handle broken. Overall an average Experience this time

6 people enjoyed a lovely lunch , bill ยฃ600 . Up on leaving found it was raining so asked receptionist to call us a taxi, was told she couldnโt do that. When asked why she simply replied rudely that she just couldnโt! Very rude after spending so much money there. We wonโt be returning Graham Carslake

Overall, I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. The lovely food, great service, and beautiful setting make it a perfect dining experience. I will definitely be returning and telling all my friends about it. Thank you

First time in this Ivy restaurant, we were passing and decided to chance getting a table and we were fortunate to get a table straight away. It's a beautiful art deco restaurant with bar in a central position I think you can book to be at the bar or a table. It's a smaller Ivy than some of the others but that just makes it more intimate. Food as always was fantastic, good extensive menu and they always ask if you have any allergies and they also have a very good Vegan menu and the cocktails are always lovely. The service was great. servers alway happy to help and guide you through the menu. I decided to have the fish and chips and the fish was as big as the plate and perfectly cooked not greasy at all .. I would recommend this Ivy for couples and smaller groups. For a larger group maybe The Ivy Soho would be better. I've never had any problems at any of the Ivy's that I have been lucky enough to eat in. We are going to come back to have dinner.
Be the first to ReplyBirthday treat?
An early meal before the theatre saw us at this venue in the heart of London. Booked for my birthday meal the staff were great making you feel welcomed and settled in this vibrant and trendy restaurant. Have eaten at Ivy in Manchester so had a good idea of the menu and wines. Our table was cosy and more than adequate and there was little delay in taking our drinks order. Food was ordered with me going for the crispy duck salad and my vegetarian wife the cheese soufflรฉ. A genuine mistake by the waiter led to her meal coming to the table as scallops! Not the best start for the veggie! Attention to detail was instant and the manager was over to take mine away too until the soufflรฉ was ready. The rest of the meal passed without issue with the meals coming out as ordered and very tasty. Now unbeknown time my wife had previously arranged for them to bring out a birthday cake treat which apparently they completely forgot about. After her reminding them twice more the only thing that arrived was the bill! Anyways is was eventually put right and a lovely treat bought to the table. This really was the main reason the star rating dropped from a 4 to a 3 to be fair. All in all I would definitely return though as I know genuine mistakes can happen at the best.
Be the first to ReplyNot quite what we expected...
So we booked for dinner at The Ivy with friends as a surprise for my friend, honestly we were prepared for it to be pricey and we wanted to just be a part of some pomp and circumstance with good food and just have the experience of being somewhere luxurious as a special treat. But it was all a bit bizarre. It was very busy and there was music playing, it was a nice enough ambiance, although staff members wandering around at intervals swapping flower vases in tables with lamps was a little strange, maybe we just timed dinner poorly, but we were off to a theatre show afterwards so ... The food was nice but I wouldn't have said it was anything more spectacular than a really good pub. I was expecting it to be a similar level to when we'd eaten at top restaurants at posh London Hotels, and it just wasn't even close. But the most bizarre thing was the service, we'd get asked about drinks, and my friends husband said that he'd have a certain beer and then they'd go and get his drink and then come back and ask about others instead of taking a full drinks order in one go. And the food service was even more like that, they brought out my friends fish... Then a minute or two later brought out her husbands rabbit and her chips came with that .. then a few minutes later my other half's meal arrived then more minutes passed and then some chips were brought to me not on a plate even though I had ordered the same meal as my other half...and then more minutes passed before the rest of my meal appeared. It was just very disjointed and strange. It really wasn't the experience we expected but it was nice enough and actually not as expensive as we had anticipated. Not sure we'd go back though, certainly not for a special occasion. Also the doorman, although a lovely touch was on his phone and even in a video call which I thought was a little odd.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointed and overpriced
Style over substance. Set menu is reasonably priced but 50% more than other locations, be warned you have to ask for this otherwise they wonโt give it to you as they try to up sell. Starters were good, mains were OK and dessert very good, but only what youโd expect in far more reasonably priced establishments. Service was OK. Good tip, donโt Oder the shepherds pie, itโs the size of a canapรฉ.
Be the first to ReplyA big disappointment
We visited this restaurant after a great afternoon at ABBA Voyage. We thought it would be a great ending to a great day. My daughter was treating me for my 77th birthday. After being ushered in by a gentleman in a top hat and green tails we were shown to a nice corner table next to the cash till. The meal was mediocre, a meal we could have had in any reasonable restaurant. Service was OK but the downside was when a group of guys came in with shorts and tattoos (even though there was supposed to be a dress code) and settled at the bar just opposite to where we were sitting. All the staff gathered round them, kissing and hugging in front of us and completely ignoring those around them. When we left, not one member of the staff said goodbye, not one member of staff asked if everything was alright. We were not impressed and will not be returning. There are too many fabulous restaurants in the surrounding area to visit who would perhaps be a little more appreciative of our custom than this one.

Food was ok but I get the impression itโs standards have continued to drop. Main courses served before started cleared and generally felt very rushed - been coming here for over 25 years but not sure Iโll be back in a hurry
Be the first to ReplyNo so much Ivy as Bindweed
Lacklustre disappointing and lost its shine. I have eaten at the Ivy probably once a year since the 90โs. We went for post show dinner, it was pretty empty, hereโs why: The food was barely market grill standard, steak had been in the fridge before it was cooked. Wine was barely topped up enough for us to have had ยฝ a bottle before all the food had been served. Literally as I was finishing my starter the waiter was hovering with my main, we had been fed within 50 minutes. I remember sinking at least one bottle wine many times before the starter had arrived! We were squeezed into half of a table for four in a nook with a new couple I donโt know why - the restaurant was empty, quiet, and lacking in the kind of atmosphere it used to have. The piรจce de rรฉsistance came when one of the waiters walked across the restaurant with the bins! This happened just as a couple next to us were filming the delivery of their baked Alaska they have the bin waiter in the background. Dire. Wonโt be back.
Be the first to ReplyNot up to standard
Late dinner after the theatre. We were squeezed into a table that was way too close to the couple next to us - Iโm sure they felt as awkward as we did. Iโm tall and the table was very uncomfortable. The food was ok but not up to the expected standard. Our main courses arrived before the starters were cleared.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing dinner with my old friend
I came for dinner with a friend that was here at Ivy a long time ago and she still felt the same emotions coming here again! The ambience and deco are very elegant, the lighting creates a very intimate setting, yet enough to enjoy the visual aspect of food presentation. The tuna tartare and cheese soufflรฉ were outstanding, so the lobster! The wine list is extensive and the choice by the glass perfectly matches the food pairing. Last but not the least, the service by Yuri and the presence and the attention of the manager Ahmed were impeccable! The manager Ahmed welcomes you in a very classy and elegant way with his presence, and all the staff are very professional! We had a great experience! We will definitely be back! Liberata
Be the first to ReplyService was very bad
I was invited for lunch today at the Ivy n Chelsea today. The service was very bad. Wonโt be rushing back.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent and not too expensive.
The staff were so helpful. I took my 89 year old mom for a treat, she was well impressed, as myself and my husband were. Definitely recommend, and it wasnโt ridiculously expensive.
Be the first to ReplyTop notch service and really good food
Great, attentive service! Food was good. We ordered the black cod and halibut. Both were really good. Ambience was awesome in this old restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyTerrible service
Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever seen in my life I came to visit from America and they not only sat the wrong table under our name they then refused service. The blond hair girl was disgusting with her attitude and the manger was no help. They then proceeded to seat the 2 people behind us. Very disappointing 0 out of 10
Be the first to ReplyDelicious food but disappointed with the customer service...
We had a delicious meal at The Ivy. Dressed crab for starters and a Dover Sole Meuniere and Calf's liver as mains. Very good indeed, especially the Dover Sole.
The only thing that put a damper on the evening was that when we arrived at 21:00 our table wasn't ready, they politely apologized and offered for us to go to the Ivy club upstairs for a drink while we waited. We accepted, as we didn't really have a choice and the bar was fine but we had a drink each, and we were charged for them. We should have been comped the drinks as it was no fault of ours that the table wasn't ready. If I had been late 15 mins they would've given my table to someone else or if I was a no show I would've been charged a high fee, so why not give you two complimentary drinks if you've made your customer wait for 40 minutes for their table. Not good customer service.
Just ok
Service is as expected, I did feel quite rushed throughout the meal. They're definitely trying to get as many people in and out as possible.
The food was what I would expect at any decent Italian restaurant and is incredibly overpriced. It's a shame as I love the Soho Ivy.
I wouldn't recommend and beg The Ivy to work on their veggie menu as it's unacceptably boring and overpriced.
The original and still the best
Not to be confused with its Brasserie cousins, the location on West Street is the original. There are some similarities in menu but there is something a little more special about this venue.
Service was great, great knowledge of the menu and cocktail list. Food was beautiful and well presented.
Perfect for a treat and nice ambiance at lunchtime
Pretentious and over priced
Visited on mother's day afternoon, to say the restaurant was packed is not an exaggeration, tables were crammed in uncomfortably close together. Service was slow and our server was obviously inexperienced but everyone has to start somewhere. Ordered a patรฉ to share, asked for extra toast and waited a good 15 minutes for this to arrive. Main course was minute steak which was very chewy and disappointing. My companions both had chicken dishes which they enjoyed. No one came to check on us during our meal and to ask if everything was satisfactory.
Overall, this restaurant is style over substance, pretentious and overpriced which I guess is not surprising given the location, but on this occasion the food was only average and I would have removed the 12.5% service charge added on to the bill as service was under par. I would not return.
Wonderfully quaint experience in a very touristy area
Wonderful dining experience in a very touristy area. Once inside, you get to enjoy this quaint and relaxing atmosphere in a very traditional setting. The food was superb and the service tentative and respectful.
Thought about visiting this West Street location many times and now look forward to the next visit.
Uncomfortably hot and lacklustre service
Visited for a birthday, have been to many of the Ivys restaurants and have mostly had a good experience. Wanted to try the orignal to see what the hype was about. The greeting at the door was cold and found the guy at the desk to be rude. The atmosphere was abit chaotic. It was so busy that it was rather deafening volume wise. Not great it you wanted a intimate evening. The temperature was boiling , absolutely roasting hot - so uncomfortable. Everyone in our party was uncomfortable. I get itโs an old building but it was only 5 degrees outside so I hate to think what the summer would be like.
Food was hit and miss. Cheese soufflรฉ great, tuna tartar was ok. Bang bang chicken was quite tasty. For mains the fish was ok but not overly flavoured. The sides are ridiculously small. Single serving at best. But the cauliflower gratin was very tasty.
Our waiter was quite good, attentive. We didnโt bother with dessert as we were so warm we just wanted to leave.
Overall the experience was ok. Not worth the money and certainly doesnโt live up to the hype. Iโd rather go to the ivy cafe in Richmond then return to this one again. A shame really
