Amazing dinner! Nicest staff! The wine pairing was especially fun and I highly recommend it.
Be the first to ReplyJust got through with dinner.
Nice airy yet small restaurant in a quaint neighborhood in Notting Hill.Tasting menu was $145 GBP so about $219 USD per person. They offer 8 items. We choose the 6 item menu as there were a couple of items on the menu I'm not fond of.The appetizers were delicious. Melt in your mouth delicious. The service was what you'd expect from a 2 Michelin star restaurant. Prompt, knowledgeable and very professional. The sommelier was friendly and a perfect fit for The Ledbury. The ONLY reason we're giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the size of the portions of wine. They're literally tasting size yet you're charged for a full glass. They're not even a quarter of a glass. I've never seen anything like it. Coming from California and visiting Napa regularly we found this disappointing.I hope they revisit that as I'm positive we're not the first people to comment on this. The wine selections were good but not worth the money if you decide to buy just a glass and not a bottleOther than that try this restaurant. The food it wonderful.

I had been trying to get a reservation here for over a year because I was almost always trying to book last minute. This visit, I booked in advance. I was looking forward to it, but unfortunately, it turned out to be a disappointment. Service was rushed, but attentive. At this level of dining, I would expect nothing short of perfect. The food, meh - a couple of impressive courses, but other than that, forgettable. The setting is very nice, assuming you don't get the table next to the pillar. Not only was it unpleasant to sit along the giant pillar which felt claustrophobic, but the table was quite long, so my dinner guest could barely hear me. It also didn't help that the service prep table was just behind the pillar and one of the guests at the table next to ours was loud. It didn't start well - it felt like we were being rushed through our glass of champagne and canapés. Perhaps, this was because we had a 9:45 reservation and the staff were anxious to get us on our merry way so we wouldn't be there too late by the end of the meal. The canapés arrived before the champagne, in quick succession. Then while we were still having canapés, our white burgundy arrived (we chose a glass of white burgundy for the first two courses and then a bottle of red burgundy for the rest of the courses). At one point, we had our champagne glass, still fairly full when our first course arrived. The white wine arrived after the food arrived. It was just awkward and we didn't even have a chance to enjoy what was in front of us before something else was happening. In the middle of our second course, they brought us the red burgundy as well. We had a half-full glass of champagne, the white burgundy we were still drinking, and the red burgundy. It didn't feel like a nice meal - constantly being interrupted and having no time to enjoy what was already in front of us. The highlight of the meal is the is the bantam egg, for which I asked for an extra portion of shaved truffle. Blown away. The deer was also impressive, but other than that, I wasn't impressed. When the restaurant emptied, I asked if my guest could move to the side of me vs across the table, and while the staff agreed to let us, I ended up moving the chair myself and then we had to hear how awkward it was for the staff afterwards. Given the many phenomenal restaurants in London, I would definitely recommend many many others over The Ledbury.

My son wanted to try a fine dining restaurant. Service was excellent. Food was really good. One of our appetizer was some kind if baked ball with venison. We really enjoyed it.If I am in London again I will definitely come back.

Modern & English, The Ledbury is a fantastic example of "I've never had that before, but it's the best version of whatever I just ate." The Ledbury is tucked away in Notting Hill, for the foreigner it feels like an upscale neighborhood that's cozy and quiet. Inside the restaurant you have a clean, minimal, modern aesthetic that does represent the idea of what high-end dining, giving you a sense of a different class of restaurant experience. As is expected, the staff at this establishment is extremely attentive, ensuring every comfort is addressed and taken care of during your visit. Everyone is welcoming and you feel delighted to be dinning at the Ledbury. Small note, the windows allow a lot of light during the evenings when the sunset is later in the day, which is phenomenal for taking photos of your food - this does not take away from romantic aspects of the meal.Platting and plates ranged in their presentation being fun, earthy, warm then shifting to clean and focusing on the food itself. We did not indulge in a wine pairing, but the wine offerings were great and they had simple things like Coca Cola. This might be silly to some, but some Michelin restaurants don't always have simple things like soda, which makes me feel ostracized and the Ledbury had the simple comforts. The amount of food you get for the price is the right amount, the meal is well rounded, but not filling you to the brim like other tasting menus - also allowing you to chose independent items instead of enjoying a prefix. All food in the meal had perfect temperatures, textures, presentations and taste. Ordinary things such as butter were elevated to things like butter with whipped goats whey, sprayed with molasses, making smaller parts of the meal (normally vestigial) yummy and new. The dumplings were presented in a small slice of wood with pine sprigs - while this added nothing to the taste of the food, was creative and gave a down-to-earth vibe contrasting the high end feel of the menu. Have I ever had these breaded deer dumplings before? No. Will I look for them by name? Not really. Were they incredibly delicious and perfectly cooked? Yes. Same concept goes for the Bantams egg - Never had an egg presented this way with the mushrooms and pork meat cuts adorning the runny egg yolk, however it was extremely delicious and satisfying. More juxtaposition - monochromatic plates with colorfully complicated platting, of a simple thing like a egg that you clean up with your bread. Savory, warming and delicious. I can't even really describe the asparagus cream dish, the pictures of the dish do better explanation of what I ate - very interestingly plated, other diners weren't a fan but myself enjoyed is clean taste for once in my life. Last but not least, the mango milfoy desert was spectacular. Crispy, buttery, fruity, gorgeously plated. Other deserts like the whipped desert were tasty but the mango desert was a truly memorable end of the dinner treat. Highly recommended if visiting London.
Be the first to ReplyThe Ledbury is perfection.
The place is minimalist but super comfortable, the service is stunning and the food was gorgeous and delicious. Not a single miss among the dishes served. We did the wine pairing and mentioned a few dislikes prior, and the Sommelier made accommodations that were perfect compliments to the dishes. We hit 4 restaurants on the Top 50 list while in London on this visit and The Ledbury was easily our favorite. HIGHLY recommended.

We had a wonderful experience at The Ledbury! The food was great! The employees were great! This place worth a visit! The employees were warm, and attentive. I felt very comfortable, the place is not stuffy. We ordered the large tasting menu. There were so many great dishes, it was tough to decide on a favorite. I would say the fresh almonds, purple aubergine, and bantams egg were my favorites. I did expect my dessert, brown sugar tart, to be a little more spectacular, but it was still good.
Be the first to ReplyThe Ledbury was a pleasant surprise for me.
The ambiance was Modern classic not over the top. The food was really delicious with some fusion creativity but doesn't feel too pretentious or forced like many top rated restaurants. Having tried Hasten Blumenthal on my previous trip, I have to say I enjoyed the Ledbury much more.

What an amazing place! Came here for the set lunch menu and also for a friend's birthday. Had such an amazing time. Four courses with matching wine for £140 per person. Definitely worth it. Greatly presented and also yummy food. Awesome ambience and service, what else could one ask for! The restaurant also had a signed birthday card for my friend. Also went out of the way and had a personalised dessert for her to wish her a happy birthday. Book way in advance and have a great time!
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely impeccable service, food and dining ambience.
Very knowledgeable and friendly waiters, every dish was well-explained. The lamb shoulder, pork belly and lobster tail were incredibly delectable - my favourite dishes. There's no fault to find with The Ledbury. Simply wonderful.
