At 4:00pm on a breezy Friday afternoon, this nondescript building, opened their huge wooden doors promptly for "happy hour" and a swarm of people glided in. That my friends says it all!!! Disregard any low star reviews. Just saying... From start to finish the service, drinks, food and ambiance were spot on. Happy hour is from 4-6pm with a special menu that includes food & drinks. 5/5 for wait time was short and attentive staff. As we were sitting there I noticed a constant flow of people and the bar itself was packed. Very large space. Lots of long high top tables, bar seating, a big room in the back and outdoor seating on the side of the building. *Children are welcomed (even big kids) lol! Just can't sit at the bar. *Street parking - metered until 8:00pm. Side street parking as well. Just read the posted signs. *Great place to meet friends This girl will be back...
Be the first to ReplyCool spot to grab a drink but the food was mid.
I wasn't that hungry so I ordered the Peasant Minis and a side of fries, the server told me they were like sliders. You remember the little hamburger-shaped gummies? The Peasant Minis remind me of those. The worst part was they were nasty. The pulled beef short rib was dry and tough. There was no sauce and the buns were hard. I'd go back but only for drinks.

You know you are enjoying your meal and your planning your next visit! Happy Hour here we come... We had the wild mushroom app and brussel sprouts... ya know to pretend we were healthy. The fish and chips with vinegar mini spray bottle. Sam our server was truly a relevation. Attentive and informative! (In best Arnold Voice) "We'll be back"

Service is present with frequent table visits but delivery a bit delayed. When it does come, food tastes great. Cocktails ok and I will have to come back for some of their craft beers. Nice and friendly ambiance with good space between tables. Do recommend!

Like who waits for food in a Valley restaurant?

Menu doesn't change much but it's usually above average and the bartenders are on point.

Our fish n chips were perfect and loved that they were open and serving a good meal at an after dinner hour. Service was excellent. It's a sports bar, which we didn't know, so it was loud. Very difficult to talk.

Best happy hour menu! BOMB food, cool ambience, and really appreciate the outdoor seating option because THE PANDEMIC IS NOT OVER.Also the weeknight bartenders were playing disco hits and dancing for us at one point. 10/10
Be the first to ReplyMy husband and I came on a Friday night and had a good time.
Seems like reservations are a good idea, so glad he made one. The menu is full of options but not so much to be overwhelming. We both opted for the smash burger, but we're very tempted by the steak frites. Next time!We started with a pork belly and watermelon salad. It was delicious. I was hesitant knowing watermelon in January is not at its peak, but this was good and a nice balance of flavors. One main draw for coming was the Deviled eggs. Also known as bacon and eggs. For the love of all that is holy, they make their own bacon! And it's outstanding. Thick slices lay on top of the deviled eggs and I could have eaten those all night. Getting back to the wagu beef smash burger. It's excellent! Perfectly cooked and great flavor with their special sauce. We were impressed with their wine list and tried a few different reds that went great with everything we ate.Service was excellent, food came out in a timely manner and the vibe is cool. Good music playing but you're still able to easily carry on a conversation.Street parking on Ventura only from what I observed. Permits required in the surrounding residential neighborhood. It appears this is part of a reputable restaurant group and is very well run. I will absolutely come back.

They have a couple of mocktails! And Chicken & Waffles (chicken was a bit dry) and DELICIOUS Brussels sprouts. Portions are on the larger side and our server was the nicest. He also was attentive about the ice teas my friend was drinking and kept bringing the refills without fail. Saturday brunch wasn't crowded though the music volume is "healthy" and feels a bit raucous. All in all, a solid neighborhood pub/bar w good food that also does good brunch!
Be the first to ReplyWe ordered via Door Dash and I had the vegan cheeseburger
We ordered via Door Dash and I had the vegan cheeseburger wrapped in lettuce and my husband had a burger with onion rings. My burger came with a bun (not lettuce) but no cheese (it was supposed to be a cheeseburger). The onion rings were breaded with the outer peel still on the onion so they were completely inedible. You couldn't even bite through the onion ring peel and it tasted disgusting so we had to throw them out. The burgers were fine, average, but overall, the meal was a disappointment and we won't be ordering from here again.
Be the first to ReplyGood drinks, great service, AMAZING food.
I'm not usually a bacon & eggs type of person but I have to say they were *chef's kiss*. Will def go back!

There are endless choices of restaurants and bars on Ventura Blvd and we stumbled upon this gem! So unassuming from the outside, but wow, everything we ordered was outstanding. I may make a bold statement right now and declare that this place may have the best fried chicken sandwich I've tried ever!! Perfect cheesy pretzel bun, great sauce, great chicken, crisp fried jalapeño....like wow wow wow! And....holy crispy pork belly! Man that was good. Finally, I think my absolute favorite was their Lilikoi Slushy drink (alcohol included of course and a nice shot of it!! ). We sat outside because I never go out without my little fur baby....and this place was perfect!

A co-worker had recently visited and was talking about the food. After seeing mac-n-cheese on the menu with bacon and crumbled truffle chips, I knew I'd be going over the hill to visit. They also have a Woodland Hills location so make sure you know which one you want to go to. I placed my order on their site, then went to go pick it up. Lucky with a spot on Ventura a storefront or two away, I walked into an open door where there was a couple in front of me. It was only around 4 or so on a Saturday, but I can imagine this place being packed. Took a minute or two to grab the attention of an employee, but a guy eventually asked if I was being helped. I saw another worker drop off a small bag and I pointed out that most likely that was mine. This was quite hot, and I wasn't given a warning but it's okay; I only found out when I went to make sure the box wasn't upside down. No utensils or napkins but I guess you have to request them. Overall, this was decent, but not amazingly so and to be frank, I was expecting amazing. Portion size was good; I was able to eat the rest of the for lunch the following day. Service could have been better, but I wouldn't completely dismiss this place due to the first experience I had here.

Delicious food surrounded by a fun environment! Happy hour is so worth it! Came here for the first time and can't wait to return. Troy provided great service.
Be the first to ReplyI had an amazing time.
My friend and I missed dinner. It was late I'm vegan and he's a meat slayer so we have a little bit different of taste. We both ate happily which rarely happens. The staff was going above and beyond to make sure you smiled and the vibe was always pleasant. Very knowledgable with vegan/ vegetarian. Can't really say enough good things. Thank you guys!!

Not the best cafe I've been to but their fish and chips are delicious! I also had their watermelon drink and it was good but over priced. I wouldn't go back to this place though if you ask me.
Be the first to ReplyI've only been here once before and it was an ok experience.
I gave it another chance and I'm so glad I did! It was a great experience from start to finish. Maria, the host seated us at a nice table in the front of the restaurant and had some good suggestions for drinks to start (they have some delicious mock tails if you don't drink too!)Sam, our server, was phenomenal and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. When our drinks got low, Sam made sure to get us refills in and back to us before our glasses were empty! When our plates were about finished he took the dirty ones away and had some great suggestions for a next course. I'm so glad we tried the tuna ceviche, lemon pepper wings, grilled cheese with tomato bisque, and the pretzel. Next time we'll have to try the fish and chips and a burger! If you get the pretzel, try it with the peanut butter dip! So yummy!! Overall, it was a great time and we will definitely be back soon!

Nice place to kick back and have a few drinks with friends or grab lunch. Staff are polite and really enjoyed my time there.

.. at this place!Part of the whole Ambiance of this place is the bartenders! These guys are really cool oh, really chill, could talk to you about anything. You definitely feel welcome at this place.Happy Hour! It's all about the happy hour pricing, value, discount.Music... On Point! Some Madonna, Double Dutch Bus, Rumors, Mary Jane, old school hip hop. Love it!Fun factoid: Mak, was apparently the owner's nickname in school. So, I got the Big Mak today. The burger is delicious, juicy (get it medium or medium rare to taste the fresh beef flavor), and it's even got a little tangy flavor about. It was seasoned perfectly.Waaaaaaaay better than a Big Mack at... you know where.Honestly, this Mak burger at the Local Peasant is on par with 1 of the best burgers I've had ever. The sauce on the side is like a thousand island with a little kick to it. Also, there's a nice hint of garlic and onion flavor. It's good, get it!I opted for the thick cut fries, and wow, they are crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. It's a nice crunch, followed by a satisfying mash feeling. The fries are great.Heck YES I will be back, with more friends too.Parking... schmarking. Walk, Uber, park 3 blocks away, carpool, it's worth it.

I ordered the steak and fries but substituted the fries with broccolini. The chimichuri sauce was super delicious and the steak was seasoned just right. Cooked just right, med rare. The server was super friendly and helpful. I'd def come back. Great atmosphere to grab a bite and beer with the boys.

Be the first to ReplyMy friends and I went here for dinner Saturday night.
Since two of us getting here early, we enjoyed their happy hour menu and sit by a open window. For dinner we dined outdoors with a wonderful waiter, I wish I remembered his name. Plenty if choices and great cocktails!
Be the first to ReplyLet's just start with the music that they play.
It's mostly 80s/90s R&B like Janet Jackson, Whitney, Earth Wind and Fire, and Bobby Brown. I was kind of surprised because it didn't really match the demographic of people that were there. But I wasn't mad at all! The staff was friendly. The hostess was a sweet, a little quirky and funny lady with eyes that matched her blue sweater. I know that's kind of odd to add, but they really stood out! The guy bussing the tables was funny too. It was just pleasant. The food was solid. We got:Brussels Sprouts - These were good with a very hearty taste. They also have some kind of nut in them, so be aware those with allergies. Shrimp and Grits - This looked super flavorful. My husband got it and he said he really enjoyed it. Turkey Pot Pie- The busser said this was really good. When I asked the waiter between this and fish and chips he said to get the pot pie. It was a mistake. Maybe this is super yummy and my taste buds are off. But I was not impressed at all. It was super bland, so much so that I had to add salt which I don't normally do. That made the pot pie bearable. But I won't order that again. We also got the Big Mak to go for my MIL. It looked like a "nicer" Big Mac. But I can't imagine that it's THAT good to be $14 without fries. Ha! But maybe that's just me. :) Overall it was a pleasant addition to our date night. I'll have to go back to try those fish and chips! Oh and there's a little parking in the back and then metered street parking until 8:00 p.m.
