Gone downhill
This restaurant used to be really good, great value, varied menu and delicious food. I know it’s in the process of being sold but the food quality shouldn’t have changed so dramatically . Boring overpriced priced menu with reduced portions . Drinks prices are sky high and interior noisy and chilly.

We had dinner here early on a Monday night in March. Booked a table. Had deep fried seafood, pulled beef brisket burger and a kid's sausage and chips followed by chocolate pudding and rhubarb trifle. It was all very good. The service was very slow. It took about half an hour for the desserts to arrive and almost as long to get the bill. They took the desserts off as an apology, saying it was much busier than they expected.

Excellent drinks and food, the Mexico Inn is a friendly, warm, welcoming pub which has a wonderful selection of drinks and a great menu. It’s a lovely atmosphere, very friendly staff. We visit the area quite often and the Mexico Inn has become a regular place for us to visit for drinks and meals. The Sunday lunch is also the best we’ve had anywhere, we book so we don’t miss out. Midweek, we’ve had the chicken curry, chickpea burger, risotto to name a few…. everything is tasty and well priced.

The food was good, the staff were nice, we were just situated in a walk through area which was freezing, and had everyone coming in & out from the back area to go to the toilet which was the other side of us, or food coming from the kitchen or piles or spuds & Yorkshire’s coasting past us in large catering aluminium tubs. Not really how I want to spend Sunday lunch. Had to eat with my coat & hat on it was so bad, I get it you want to max space, but that area is not suited for inside dining.

We enjoyed a fantastic New Year’s Day lunch. The food was great and the staff helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend

Gorgeous food with good vegan options. Staff extremely friendly. Bit pricey but good quality in lovely surroundings and you can take the dog in
Be the first to ReplyDrunken brawling
Recommended by friends, we met here for Sunday Roast and sat in the dining area which is a lovely room. Food was very good, and staff attentive (as you'd expect for these prices) However, our trip was ruined by a drunken brawl in the bar area, highly aggressive behaviour and language from a man and woman which staff seemingly didn't want to address, as this continued for some time. I won't be returning, and wouldn't recommend for families in particular, very unpleasant atmosphere.

Be the first to ReplyGreat place for Sunday Lunch!
Went with my brother for Sunday Lunch on that last beautiful sunny weekend in Early October. We both had Brisket. Cooked to perfection with nice veg especially liked the Red Cabbage. Service was great. Will be back!

I went with my son on a very busy Sunday. They have a great selection on a Sunday. I didn't fancy a roast so went for a squash and blue cheese salad, followed by the best fish and chips I've had. Definitely recommend this pub, it was busy, great food and very attentive service. We will be back!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food, lovely staff
I was a little bit nervous when I saw the small menu that there wouldn't be much I liked, but we had 3 courses and all were delicious, really well made! Even down to the chips which were clearly very fresh, hot and crispy. The staff were very attentive, food was served really quickly and there was a huge choice of drinks available. Would definitely recommend.
Be the first to ReplyGreat dinner (VERY dog friendly)
Had a delicious dinner. I had the dhal, and my stepdad had the curry special. Absolutely delicious food. And a very dog friendly place so the doggo had a chilled night too. Recommended.

Be the first to ReplyThe beat roast dinner we’ve had!
We visit nearby St Ives over half a dozen times a year and every time The Mexico Inn is a must on the Sunday while we are down. We cannot be more emphatic than this: the Sunday roast here cannot be beaten! (especially the beef brisket!) You’ll often find a roast where the meat is good and so are the roast potatoes but this is the only place we’ve ever eaten where every element is sensational; the red cabbage, roast carrots, leek gratin, braised green cabbage. All cooked and flavoured to perfection. And the Yorkshire pudding!! Wow! Simply the best and the staff are lush too! Would definitely recommend booking in advance though otherwise you may be disappointed. It’s an open secret how good it is!

Excellent Vegan roast ! Proper gravey the only place in penwith I've had such! Delicious beetroot lentil Wellington and all fresh well cooked veg. My meat eating partner enjoyed his as much. Dogs welcome and amuse bouche! Lovley staff too! Very busy booking advised but we'll worth it

I love this pub. It has everything you'd want from a good drinking hole, plus a great kitchen serving up an excellent menu of pub classics and specials. Sunday roast particularly good
Be the first to ReplySunday Roast.
We have just got back from the most beautiful roast at the Mexico. It was cooked to perfection and was delicious. The staff were all incredible, so friendly and attentive. The selection of gins were fantastic too. I would eat there every week if I could. Very highly recommended.

Visited twice now and the food portion's are so small and so expensive. The plate is full of small pot's, when you take the pot's off the plate there is hardly anything left to eat. The food is also very greasy or overdone and dry, also not many food option's on the menu. Won't be going again because of the food and the cost.
Be the first to ReplyFabulous Food but very Pricey
Excellent food, service and atmosphere but the prices are high, would definitely come back but have to save up first! £23 for a bottle of house red...?? bit much, £18 would have been right
Be the first to ReplyConsistently high standard food and service
I don't usually write online reviews but was stunned at some of the criticisms here. We eat regularly at the Mexico, it has the highest standard locally by far. I suspect some of the nasty remarks are out of jealousy. This place buys high end local meat and veg and it shows. It isn't the cheapest eatery but you get what you pay for and we love the food. Curries are amazing. A real treat when even the local indian takeaways are poor. Very child friendly too. If you want large cheap processed portions go to Wetherspoons.

Outstanding food and great service. Food is consistently good. Good selection for vegetarians. Dogs are welcome in the bar. Nothing else I can add other than highly recommended.
Be the first to ReplyPerfect food and very friendly service
We had two delicious meals here. On Saturday we had perfectly baked pizza from the wood-fired oven in the courtyard, on Sunday varied dishes from the special Sunday Roast menu. The covered, wind-protected tables in the courtyard were perfect during Covid high incidence.

Not been here since before Covid but have heard good things about it so thought we’d give it a go. Glad we did. WOW, the outside space is AMAZING. What a chilled vibe. You can bake in the sun or choose much needed shade, perfect. Staff very friendly. Less than £5 for pint of San Miguel and my favourite wine Cotes de Provence rose, yes please. Fab roast, melt in the mouth brisket, homemade yorkshires yum. Will definitely be back, so worth a walk along the cycle path from Penzance.

Absolutely superb food, service and decor you made our first night in Cornwall a night to remember so glad we booked we loved it.
Be the first to ReplyTop marks for everything
Found the Mexico Inn as usual on TripAdvisor and saw on their website that it had also been favourably reviewed by Grace Dent so we booked a table. To be honest , if you did just happened to drive past you probably wouldn't give it a second look but I have to say that they get top marks from us for the food , the staff and the service. We thought it was the best we'd had in a long time. We came away thinking that it wouldn't have mattered what we ordered because it would all have been really good
