Breakfast
Great choices for breakfast, excellent food and beautiful views of the gold course. A 100% first class resort

We ate breakfasts and one dinner at The Oak while staying at the Ojai Valley Inn. We had a hard time getting a dinner reservation - as calling about 10 days ahead we were told it was sold out but that we would be called if a cancellation was made, there was no call. Arriving at the hotel we asked the room manager if it was possible to eat dinner that evening and he immediately arranged it for the time requested- very strange! Other than that we were impressed with the organization of the very large outdoor are that was well equipped with heat lamps for the cool mornings (even in August). The several hosts kept the wait line the shortest even at a busy breakfast period, the bus staff were on the spot at all times (including clearing plates and tables to essentially eliminate bird nuisance), the servers were professionally friendly and well trained, and the runners were exceptionally courteous. The food selection was pretty broad and eclectic and we were not disappointed by even one dish especially the Shakshuka breakfast dish (named Mediterranean Eggs on the menu). One unlikely favorite was the potatoes served at breakfast. Prices are on the very high end, even for a resort of this caliber, but we felt that the value was there and the view was magnificent.

We only at breakfast at the Oak, but each time it was very good. Service was great and it's a very lovely setting.
Be the first to ReplyMediocre food and service, great view!
The food was bland and the service was off- our waiter totally disappeared. The view is superb however so maybe just go for a drink and appetizer.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food in an upscale resort setting.
Beautiful, safe, delicious, drop dead views and lovely heaters. Perfection! We will be back! The scallops are divine!

We had dinner here one night, and breakfasts each morning during our three-night stay. The seating area is lovely, with well-spaced tables, heating lamps, and fairy lights. The view is of the golf course and trees. Breakfasts were good with a fairly good selection of items. Our dinner, however, was notable. We started with housemade guacamole and chips with salsa. My girlfriend then had a delicious seven vegetable salad with a light and tasty dressing, followed by a large portion of juicy roast chicken with polenta. I had a salad with a lot of tender crab, and then diver scallops, which were large, tender, and perfectly cooked, although a bit gritty in parts. We shared gelato for dessert. My Negroni and glass of Syrah were excellent and my girlfriend’s tangerine margarita was fabulous. Service started with Humberto, and then Victor. He was very attentive, friendly, informative, and professional. All in all, a splendid night in a lovely venue. Prices were appropriate.

Wonderful breakfasts w views of the course . Dinner w lanterns hanging from old oak trees.. wonderful spot w great service and warm heaters . Dog and kid friendly, step inside for a drink by fire in the beautiful hacienda room or sit by a fire pit and look at stars . There are other casual spots to dine nearby but This I’d the main restaurant . Not to be missed if you stay at the inn

My husband and I had the day off so we decided to take a drive up from Los Angeles (SFV, about 68 miles). Service was wonderful, food delicious, scenery amazing. We started with the avocado hummus with chickpeas which was excellent. I then had the black bean burger and my husband had a turkey burger. Nothing special or fancy about our food choice, but it was a great experience to eat outside while looking out at giant oak trees. After lunch, we walked the property and admired its beauty. Can’t wait for the spa to reopen so I can come back.

It’s not cheap but we’ll worth the visit. Great food , great service and wonderful atmosphere for special or any occasion
Be the first to ReplyIt's good - but the menu needs to be more creative
Ehh - it was okay. Nothing to write home about, but better than average for hotel food. What is spectacular, similar to the hotel, is the service!

The Oak is the regular dining place for those staying at the Ojai Valley Inn. It has an amazing Sunday brunch with more types of food in one place than I can remember seeing anywhere! It is pricey! But it is tasty. The service felt slow, but we had little kids in tow.

We enjoyed a delicious dinner here with very attentive service. The room itself I found somewhat sterile. There was some construction going on and evidently the outdoor eating area was closed which may have been a far more romantic setting.
