This speakeasy has one of the best liquor collections in Chicago. It's mostly a drinks only cozy limited seating (~5 tables and a few bar seats). Cocktails are reasonably priced given the ambiance at around 20 bucks and are worth the price! The server takes the order at the table so theres no concept of a crowded bar. This can be a good fourth-fifth date place as well as a good place for an after hours business meet.

Chicago has the best collection of speakeasy's and the office was very high on my list to visit. Decided to try our luck today without a reservation on a Thursday evening and got in with one hour wait time. It has a very cozy ambience with nice chairs, paintings, spirits on the display, light music etc. Tried the Kimchi drink and it was uniquely flavorful, thanks to my friends for recommending it. My wife tried Al Pastor which is a mezcal drink and it was pretty good as well. The service was a bit slow in my opinion but the quality of the drinks made it fully worth it. The unique thing about the office is that it consists of spirits from all over the world and it's surprising because the place is so small. Worth a visit if you enjoy speakeasy's and nice cocktails.
Be the first to ReplyI felt very fancy going here.
It was very clean, contemporary-chic; definitely a place to go to celebrate or to have a unique experience with your date. 10 out of 10 hands down pricey but you get what you pay for. When you make reservations you ask your waiter to see the office. They take you down stairs to a LOCKED lounge that seats MAYBE 12 people. Super secret super cool!!! Check out all the inspired cocktails and vintage spirits. https://www.theaviary.com/the-office

Finally made my way to the office after having been to the aviary a few times. Our server was really nice and welcoming. The menu itself is incredibly impressive and extensive. The ambience was great. It was dark and cozy and I appreciate that capacity is limited so it felt intimate and didn't get too loud. I asked for two custom cocktails and I thought it was fun to get some thing made just for me that wasn't on the menu. One of the drinks wasn't exactly my favorite, but the other blew me away. We snacked on the olives, which were nothing special, but the nuts were actually really tasty and zesty. No one's coming here for the bites, of course, but it was nice to have a few options.

This was a very nice experience! If you're interested in vintage drinks and paying top dollar for some amazing mixes, you'll love this. If you think of this as an entertaining experience, rather than a night out at a bar, I think you'll set yourself up for success. The service was top notch, and the food was absolutely wonderful. I would give this 5 stars if I was absolutely blown away, but I still think you'll be glad you tried this!!

Great place! Always make it a point to visit when I'm in town. Huge selection of vintage liquors, and very talented bartender's. Not sure that's the correct definition of them. They're way more talented than any bartender I've met. They mix up some unique and tasty Cocktails
Be the first to ReplyMy partner surprised me with reservations to this place.
Our buddy who used to work at Alinea recommended this spot since this is their speakeasy. Hands down one of the coolest speakeasy I have ever been to. I opted for their whiskey flight and it did not disappoint. The bartenders took their time explaining each bottle to me. I like that they keep them in front of me since I like to read them. I was definitely already tipsy after this one flight, but I had to try an old fashion. It did not disappoint. My partner loved her drinks as well. We sat at the bar, which was nice. Next time a couch seat would be ideal. It is very small, dark, and quiet, everything in a perfect speakeasy. There is one bathroom key that is left at the bar that everyone shares if they need to use the restroom which is a cool concept as well. They have one of the best collections of old spirits I have seen, check them out all around the room if you get a chance to go.

I celebrated my birthday at this speakeasy, and it's now my favorite. Securing a reservation can be tricky, but we took a chance on a Sunday night and walked in with friends - luck was on our side with a table for seven. Nestled in the lower level of the Aviary, the entrance is dark and dramatic, complemented by a server who opens the door with a key, locking it behind us for a unique touch. We indulged in an array of cocktails and truffle popcorn, and each drink was a delight. The overall experience left us impressed and happy. A truly remarkable speakeasy.
Be the first to ReplyUnique cocktail experience with a few hidden gems.
Test your knowledge or experience here. The staff is talented and eager to please. Will come back many more times.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing experience for speakeasy vibes.
BUT IAN... it's ok if our dumplings were forgotten.... Just don't try to play it off after waiting over 60mins for them and tell us "I'm sorry idk what happened". Loved the vibes and drinks, disappointed in the service at the very end of our visit.
Be the first to ReplyJust wow.
Incredible atmosphere, drinks were so creative, and the service was great. Plan ahead - but this is a must try. I'm trying to find an excuse to go again.

We stayed for the Office Hour and added on a few more cocktails and bites. The cocktails were nothing but phenomenal created by an expert staff. The room was small yet dark and cozy filled with art and leather chairs and couches. We began our meal with the Hot Dog (you won't be disappointed) and Quince cocktails, but really recommend giving any drink on the menu a chance. Out next round of drinks, a gin martini and the fizz were even more flavorful and unique. I also recommend a shot of chartreuse or the 8 year aged barrel Negroni. We cannot recommend the truffle explosion or the foie gras enough. The salty foie gras with the not too sweet quince jam is a match made in culinary heaven. The oysters and truffle popcorn were equally as enjoyable.I am not the one to typically spend this amount of money on a meal, but if you have the opportunity and you are in Chicago, take the chance.
Be the first to ReplyThis place was amazing, it truly is a next level bar.
This is no typically place to grab drinks, not only is the ambiance top tier, the drink menu is a cut above the rest. My husband loves bourbon and the waiter really catered to his preferences as they walked through the menu together. I would come back here a million times if we could get the reservation. A Chicago must see for sure!

Service was very hands off which is unfortunate if it's your first time trying. Also, not good for a date night- seats were far apart and the opposite of romantic. If you're not getting food, we felt they just want to get you out so they can fill your seat with someone who is going to be spending a lot more. Was so excited to try but it fell very far from expectations.
Be the first to ReplyDrinks here are great.
Very cute vibes. It's intimate cozy hidden gem. The drinks are all great classics. The old fashion was one of my favorites. Service was great experience too.
Be the first to ReplyThis is definitely a place coasting on reputation.
There's plenty to like and ultimately I am glad I experienced it-- the uber-exclusivity, the speakeasy vibes, the rare bottles-- all awesome! Not to mention, the drinks were really good! Our server was nice enough but he definitely didn't go above and beyond explaining drink components or helping us create cocktails as some other reviews have mentioned is the norm here. I think it also would have been appropriate to warn us about 20 minutes before our time slot was up instead of hurriedly dropping the check and essentially forcing us out the door. My friend had ordered one of the $50+ drinks and basically had to chug it. Considering it costs $50 a person just to sit down at this place, my expectations were sky high and the experience isn't aging particularly well in my mind. You can get drinks that are just as good elsewhere in the city for less than $20 a pop and they don't shove you out the door after 54 minutes.

This place has the best and coziest vibe! We did the office hour and was a great option for light / unique snacks before or after dinner. All of their drinks are so unique (and very strong in a good way)! Service is so great since it's such an intimate space! Would definitely go back and prefer this over the aviary upstairs!

So my dumb ass thought I was going to an Office themed pop up bar - the Office as in the TV show. This was definitely not that but it was amazing. This place is swanky and sexy as f***! I was there with friends but it would be a great date night. All the drinks were delicious perfection. They came in fun glassware and were pretty booze forward but still balanced. My favorite drinks I tried were Saffron, Fizz, and the Tiramisu (and I hate coffee so that really tells ya how good it was). Highly recommend!
Be the first to ReplyTook my parents and a good friend here pre-covid.
It did feel genuinely cool to be in on the secret. I recall an excellent selection of brown liquor. I also recall that it's not a particularly photogenic setting, which is probably why I don't have any pictures and didn't remember to write a Yelp review until years after the fact. In retrospect, and in line with some of the other reviews, I really don't know under what circumstances I'd return to The Office other than to celebrate my ability to cover the expense.

You've likely heard of The Aviary, a cocktail enthusiast's delight in Fulton Market. It's certainly an experience, but let's be honest, it's a bit pretentious, lacking the intimacy and warmth of your favorite cocktail bar. And that's why you make it a point to somehow get downstairs to the tiny little speakeasy known as The Office. All of the expertise and craft of what you'll find upstairs, in a twelve seat room that feels like the library of an early 20th century home. All pretense is lost down here, despite the stunning collection (and prices) of vintage spirits and knowledge of the bartenders. While their cocktail list is varied and excellent, intriguing plays on familiar drinks, they can make you literally anything you want, and probably make it better than anywhere else. Don't sleep on the food either, that truffle oil popcorn is addictive. I'm not going to say we had three orders, but I'm also not going to not say we did. It's hard to get into (we were lucky enough to have a slight in) and very expensive, but it is absolutely worth it for a spirits experience you really can't get anywhere else in this city. Incredible!

Hands down one of the best cocktail experiences (and actual drinks) I've ever had. We sat close to the kitchen/bar and it was great to see the staff do their magic!
Be the first to ReplyGreat drinks.
Cool space. Bring money!!Apparently, this review isn't long enough...until now!
Be the first to ReplyFantastic ambiance and even better cocktails.
Reserved the office hour and it didn't disappoint. The cocktails were interesting and delicious. Surprising twists taken on classic cocktails. Between me and my friend, we tried 4 of the drinks on the menu and each drink was different and delightful. Our reservation came with oysters and truffle popcorn which were perfect complements to the drinks.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely phenomenal! Highlight of my Chicago trip.
I've been to the Aviary (upstairs) a number of times but I felt like the office was an even more special experience because of the server Hunter and bartenders Josh and Ryan!We had a group of six and got six different cocktails from the menu which were all so good. I got the tiramisu and enjoyed it very much and tried the margarita and would definitely get that again. The carrot in the margarita is a fantastic touch. We also ordered off menu drinks / dealers choice. we all loved what we asked for. Would highly highly recommend and definitely visit again

I think my credit card company knows me a little too well: they'll mark a haircut as fraud, but won't blink an eye if I spend nearly 7k on 200-year-old cognac. This place is absolutely not for everyone. If you can't afford the cognac, go for the "dusty" daiquiri. If you can't afford that either, I don't know what to tell you. This place lets you hold historical artifacts, so you are doing yourself a disservice if you don't spring for the good stuff.
