Anniversary meal
We went for our anniversary meal and it was truly a lovely evening. The staff were attentive, polite and even complimented my wife on her dress. The ambience was great and the service brilliant. The only negative was that I couldn’t get a black coffee unless I was staying at the hotel, not sure why but this did not ruin our evening. Would definitely go back

Afternoon tea here was a great experience. Pricey, but the luxury fits the price tag. It felt like I was in England at a posh tea club. I don't think there is anywhere I will experience this in the US. He food and service were outstanding and our servers, especially Khalid, were gracious, kind, patient, and thoughtful. I would recommend this experience to anyone for a great Sunday afternoon event. Great for birthdays, couples date, or girls day out tbh. I went with my girlfriend and we loved it.

We went to the Palm Court for Afternoon tea just yesterday for our Wedding Anniversary the whole experience was amazing we were treated like royalty. Our server Syed could not do enough for us and made our day, such a lovely man.We also had drinks in the champagne bar next door and the staff in there also were first class.

Fariz, our waiter, was fabulous. He made each of us feel special. He serves with an old-world elegance and keeps refills and extras coming! The tea sandwiches, scones and desserts were amazing. You would neced imagine that such light food would fill you up like that! I took my niece and nephew there to celebrate her promotion at work and it was the perfect spot for the occasion!

We went here when we were holidaying in New York as a birthday celebration. The food was absolutely delicious and as a surprise we were given a cake for my birthday. As the chef was walking through the restaurant I complimented her on the food as the standard was so high. As we were leaving she brought us some Plaza chocolates which was unexpected and delicious at the same time. This is a really special location for afternoon tea so we overlooked the extreme cost of the afternoon. I found it quite disrespectful to add 18% to our bill as our tip. The service was extremely poor and the only time that we saw our server was when we first sat down at our table. Someone at a neighbouring table was complaining quite loudly about the champagne and all of the staff seemed to be bending over backwards to make him happy which is possibly why we were neglected. The place was full so I guess they don't have to offer exceptional service as they know they will still be full every day.

Beautiful establishment! We had excellent service from our secondary waiter Khalid. (Not sure if the spelling is correct. He was so attentive and kind. OUTSTANDING service from him

This was our first time having afternoon tea at The Plaza. They gave us a warm welcome when we arrived and were seated right way. Fariz Tello was our server and he was great! He was attentive, professional and friendly. The food and tea were delicious.

We received the finest service in every way from Khalid. He was awesome.. told us stories, the history of the plaza, and held a professional standard photo shoot for our visit! This man needs to be promoted to waiter ASAP!

I am a New Yorker as well as my children. I’ve always enjoyed every few years taking my grandchildren for tea at the Palm Court. This year my daughter, her two children, ages 6 and 4, another grandson, aged 10 and I went for tea. There was an attraction for Eloise with the 6 year old. There were two adults and 3 children. The total of our bill was $842 which I think is outrageous. Although the Palm Court is still lovely, the food was not great. The kids had peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, not that there is anything wrong with that, but for $842? It’s not worth the money. My daughter and I were disappointed and I didn’t like being ripped off. An 18% tip was included. By the way, my daughter and I didn’t have any champagne or any other alcohol.

This was such an amazing experience! The service was top notch, we had Khalid as our server and he made sure our experience was superb. His thoughtfulness and attention to detail made this experience the best meal we had while in New York.

Just back from an amazing trip to NY to celebrate my sisters 50th! She deserved a treat so booked what I knew would be a very expensive afternoon tea expecting exceptional 5 star experience. Sadly it fell way short. The actual cost for one tray of sandwiches and cakes for two people was an eye watering £254.97 when taxes and tips were included…. This was the No champagne option. And don’t go if you are hungry! Room was beautiful no arguments there but that is really all I can say that’s positive. As soon as I was seated I felt I had sat on something sharp, put my hand around the seat pad wondering what it was to then get a lovely cut from an offending piece of glass. Reported it to the waiter who couldn’t have been any more disinterested…..he said he would get me a band aid but never did. Two types of scones were presented one cranberry and one mushroom! My sister unfortunately has an extreme allergy to cranberry meaning that both were off the menu … as the cranberry ones were wrapped up touching the mushroom ones…explained to the waiter but no other options were forthcoming. Hasten to add we were not even asked if we had any allergies. Coffee was cold (one of us doesn’t drink tea). Just poor service all round really by disengaged staff. Final straw was the trip to the bathroom as we left.. directed to a basement toilet near the food hall, dirty carpets on the stairs, grubby walls, then you find there is no toilet paper when it was too late! In fact all of the cubicles had no paper! Happy to pay top dollar for exceptional service, experience and value for money. Left feeling very let down. It’s not worth it.. so many other places to better spend your hard earned cash. Just don’t go.
Be the first to ReplyTrip of a life time ..ruined...by a hotel selling a dream experience that it does not live up to its ... soo upset
Hotel looks tired . No to make the entrance amazing it was a little disappointing .. this iconic hotel ..looked very poor .. But I was sure everything else wd be amazing ... sadly not .. We entered The Palm court .( eventually , there was no signage of staff to direct us ) The ladies at entrance looked a little untidy for a 5 star Hotel .. ??? But again still hopefully of an amazing experience. Nope ..314 dollars for 2 very small unimpressive.afternoon teas and a bottle of water .. 46 dollar gratuity. The good was basic ..the surrounding dated and past their best .. But the staff ... really poor .. I have had better service in macdonalds or starbucks . No effort to interact. No pleasant chit chat. No stories about hotel ....nothing Fast service by a poorly dressed waiter who wanted you in and out ASAP.. Please go elsewhere for a 5 star experience. Having been to many lovely hotels all over the world . Gleneagles being the best .sadly nothing about this hotel is impressive.. I did complaint.only to be told I had to pay and given a complimentary drink.. Not very happy with that but soo upset I just took drink .. Trying to find email for hotel uz proving difficult.. Sad very expensive experience .that made me cry

Be the first to ReplyTerribly overpriced and super underwhelming
When we arrived for our 3:30 tea time at 3:20 I was brusquely told: ‘you’ll have to wait for ten minutes’. Um, ok but a more typical greeting might have been ‘welcome to the palm court’…the female hostess who checked our coats did better but that first greeting, followed by clumsy and inattentive service, at best meh savoury and sweets left me wondering why I had bothered with the incredibly overpriced experience. In surveying the room was clear there were better servers, but at $500 for tea for 3 people, everyone should be a strong server. Take a pass on this overpriced and underwhelming experience in favour of better options in the city!
Be the first to ReplyGlorious Atmosphere
So, tea at The Plaza is mostly wonderful. We usually love everything about it. The Palm Court is glamorously old world and beautiful. Sipping tea and champagne while enjoying tea sandwiches, scones, tarts and pastries in mesmerizing surroundings is a lovely way to spend an afternoon. There are even vegetarian, vegan and gluten free afternoon tea options (you MUST ask for them.) We, indeed , had a lovely afternoon, well, mostly. While the service today was not impolite, it was VERY rushed….too, TOO rushed, from beginning to end. We could not understand why as there were empty tables and no one was waiting. The absurdly hurried service has never, ever, occurred before. We were then told that our waiter was nearing the end of his shift, which, frankly, should not impact patrons, not at all. When patrons are enjoying afternoon tea at The Plaza (for approximately $200 per person) they should not be rushed through due to shift change issues. A very disappointing service glitch which so negatively impacted our dining and must be rectified by management. (Usually the service is very professional, civilized, so very polished and NOT rushed.) We often enjoy lunch, champagne, etc. at the Palm Court bar where service is not rushed and much more accommodating. While the ambiance in The Palm Court is glorious, afternoon tea today could have been so much better as the service today was uncharacteristically abrupt and hurried.
Be the first to ReplyThe devil is in the detail and the detail is missing
Not something we would recommend whilst in NY. The Palm room room had no view and felt quite dark, it didn’t feel like fine dining or a special afternoon tea venue. The restrooms were a long walk underneath the building near the food hall, felt like shopping centre toilets. The food was mediocre at best, the tea pre made and poured into very chunky (more earth pottery than fine China) teapots with chips on the spout. The service a little too practical….we appreciate we are on a sophisticated conveyer belt of people but it feels like choose, eat, pay leave as quickly as possible. We were issued our bill within 60 minutes of arriving to give some context. The cost of $600 was very poor value for money and not something any of us (4 dined) would recommend or want to repeat. This was unequivocally the worst afternoon tea we have had….and we’ve had a few. There are so many great things in NY, sadly this is not one of them.

Went here today and got the Monte Carlo which had Cognac, Maraschino Liquor, Lemon Juice and Brut Champagne. Very good drink but pricey. It is $30 a cocktail here.
Be the first to ReplyAfternoon tea
I went with my 2 daughters as a treat for our visit to New York. The sandwiches were dry and the cakes were nice. Very overpriced for what you get for 3 people it was $595 that was 3 afternoon teas and 3 glasses of champagne definitely not value for money.
Be the first to ReplyOnce is enough
The room is fabulous. The tea (and selection) was good. The sandwiches were fine but nothing special. Service was good. The price was outrageous. Quality/price is probably one of the worst I have ever experienced. For tourists and the super wealthy.
Be the first to ReplyTea at The Plaza
We enjoyed the Manhattan tea which included sandwiches, savories, scones, pastries & sweets. Each item was delightfully presented. The average flavors were overshadowed by the delightful display, classic setting, lovely tea service, & superb service by our server, Fariz. We were celebrating a birthday & received a complimentary glass of champagne with a tin of treats along with lighted candles. It was an afternoon well spent at the beautiful Plaza Hotel.
Be the first to ReplyA beautiful 25 minutes in my silly exploration of NY.
I can not express how many times I've had a negative experience with bartenders at the most rancid dive bars. I suppose I am not supposed to expect the best service at those kinds of places, but neither did I expect to be treated the way me and my friend were treated at The Palm Court. As someone who works in hospitality, I am always fascinated to explore the fanciest of hotels in the city, The Plaza being no exception. I've had always been curious to sit down and have a drink at such type of hotel. So when I was walking next to The Plaza after being at Central Park with a friend I suggested we do exactly that. We nervously walked in with the most casual attire and asked to sit at the bar. We seriously thought we would be treated differently, it was clear we weren't the hotels market. Nevertheless we didn't pull back. As we sat a gentleman named Kenny welcomed us and, here's what happened, Kenny made my friend and I feel right at home. I did not feel any more or any less than anyone else at this fancy bar. Kenny was marvelous and conversed and even laughed with us. It was clear we would not be a biggest tippers. We just went in to have one 12 dollar beer, and even then, he did not show any care towards that. He treated us very well at all times. I am not one to do this, this is my first review in Trip Advisor, but I was very impressed with his service that I felt necessary to take the time to let everyone know. This definitely made my experience at The Palm Court a core memory in my life and can't wait to go back.

We stopped in for cocktails on our way to dinner. Service at the bar was excellent, as were the drinks. Pleasant conversation with the bartenders. Beautiful setting. Reasonably priced drinks
Be the first to ReplyMore Casual Afternoon Tea
It was a lovely afternoon tea we're having here at The Plaza. The ambience is beautiful, the staff is attentive and the overall experience has been wonderful. Compared to similar tea room in London, however, The Palm Court seems to be more casual. The scones were a bit too dry and hard, the sandwich was OK, nothing extraordinary.
Be the first to ReplyService makes the memory sweeter
My young adult sons agreed to have tea with their me as an early Mother's Day experience. The Palm Court is iconically beautiful. The sandwiches and desserts were nicely laid out. Macaroons were the highlight. It was a rainy day, and the warm flavorful teas were a welcome comfort. All the tables were booked, but we never felt rushed or ignored. In fact, the warm and personalized service was the best part. Fariz suggested a lovely caffeine-free rooibos tea. It tasted of vanilla and almonds--delicious. When I inquired more about it, Fariz brought me an informational card. Kayin took time to talk to us about our home basketball team and about our time in New York. At the end of our tea, we felt like we'd made a friend--we even hugged goodbye. These are the types of moments that we remember long after a meal.
Be the first to ReplyVladimir was the best waiter for High Tea
So fun. Definitely make a reservation. 4pm reservations for us. Was out of there by 6p. Added the champagne. We picked the Duval Rose. Was brimming over w bubbles. Had a Manhattan High Tea and my gal pal had a Signature High tea. My Manhattan came w plain scones butter and lemon curd. Hers came w scones w currents/raisins in them. Crumbly but not dry. The sandwiches were great. Cucumber on rye was my fav. Don’t like salmon so my friend ate all those sandwiches Desserts were a wide variety and fantastic This whole tea was so pricey but so worth it. My friend was just selected to CEO of a local utility company. They asked on our reservation if we were celebrating anything. I said yes. They brought her a festive gift and another glass of champagne!! What a suprise. She loved it. For the kids, they bring Eloise tea cups and tea pot plus cotton candy. Our server joyously brought us cotton candy for a midnight snack. You have to do this!!!!!
