Heavenly stay at Meadowood
Meadowood is truly heaven, the grounds are remarkable, stunning and expansive. Every staff memeber we met was kind, warm and helpful, you can feel the strong culture and pride in the place, it clearly runs deep. We travel frequently and rarely do we feel so connected immediately to a place. Bravo, Meadowood!

We traveled to Napa Valley for the first time earlier this month. Meadowood was recommended to us by very good friends who had stayed there many times before the pandemic and before the Glass Fires of 2020.We were so impressed by the resort and the staff. Two months before our arrival we were contacted by the concierge staff to help us with reservations for wineries and dinners. The concierge staff was extremely knowledgeable. They also help us get discounted wine tastings and in some cases they were even complementary. Everyone on the staff was courteous and respectful. In addition, we had the impression that everyone actually liked working there! Rare in today's world! Yes, the resort was expensive, but you have to expect that for a world class 5 star property. If we ever return to Napa Valley, there is no question as to where we will stay. Highly recommended!!!
Be the first to ReplyNice but a wee bit self-conscious
For my fellow solo travelers, the hotel is so nice and huge to explore. Spend time hiking and just immerse in this unbelievably gorgeous view. The room is so nice, the window surrounds the bed, making you feel immersed in nature. The hotel service is good, with free car rides to town and good concierge service. Spa is luxurious and so comforting. However, one thing noteworthy that may not be on you radar being that this property have an extremely white customer base, not that there's anything weird about that, but it did make me aware the whole time. (small stuff, the way many guests/members interact with each other, while completely ignoring you/ side-eyeing) The group fitness class is kinda uncomfortable, all the older ladies probably subconsciously avoided taking up the area around me and gathered together. Microaggression can be felt. Not the best feeling but I understand it's more unconscious behavior than anything. That said, that's mostly a guest thing, the hotel members themselves are so nice and so helpful. Can't complain at all. But if you are somebody that gets triggered by similar events, beware. All in all, would so come back. Lovely hotel. God, it's heaven like. But could enjoy it better.
Be the first to ReplyWish we could go every month! We absolutely loved our stay!
We stayed at the meadowood after we got married a few weeks ago, and absolutely loved it. The setting is tucked away in the hillside, and everything feels so serene and peaceful while also being so close to town. The staff were absolutely wonderful and responded to any request swiftly. The design of the rooms and amentities is so beautiful I wish I could model my home after them. We were sad to leave and hope to come back soon!

Very private so if you love seclusion and not seeing others this is your place. It is relaxing and beautiful. Personally I like just a little more activity and people being around. Seemed almost ‘deserted ’ at times. The Forum restaurant was great food but only 1 other table was occupied. The service was incredible. We very much enjoyed staying here.

We only stayed for one evening at Meadowood, but everything about our stay was perfect. At the entry of the hotel, we were greeted very nicely. From this point on, everyone at the resort knew our name. The room was impeccable and the food delicious. My favorite was the spa. Excellent treatments. I am already planning our next stay. It is the ideal spot to rest, relax, and rejuvenate.

The staff and concierge are eager and happy to help. The grounds make your blood pressure go down. I have no complaints. Would stay again and again. Worth the price for sure and worth the amenities and the knowledge and help from concierge for the trip
Be the first to ReplyFabulous place for wine lovers
A truly beautiful resort. We had one of the cottages at the top. The surroundings were breathtaking. We could have our first coffee out on the porch and our last glass of wine as well. The interior is so cozy and luxurious that one almost doesn't want to leave. But this is the Napa Valley boasting some of the best wines. Prior to our visit we had contacted the concierge to support us organising tastings at our favourite wineries. They not only were able to get us tastings at our favourite wineries but also added suggestions to new wineries we did not know about before. All in all the hotel and the service are five star. Thank you for making our stay so memorable.

The attention paid to details was remarkable. I appreciated the daily little snacks, and the concierge/reception was most helpful! Had a great stay here for a conference. I hope to come back with my wife next time!

For many of us, this is the first opportunity to visit Napa, since fires and a pandemic have taken us off track. You’ll be absolutely amazed and enriched by the Meadowood’s remodeling and Forum restaurant. The beauty and obvious care that management shows throughout the room and the experience made me want to extend my stay. Don’t wait, go now.

We seldom write reviews but our stay at Meadowood was exceptional and went beyond our expectations. The rooms, property and most importantly the service (particularly the concierge team) were impeccable. Would highly recommend.

We stayed at Meadowood for our 36th anniversary and the place did not disappoint. The rooms were well done and the amenities were right on point. Highlight for us was the fireplace in the room. Wood-burning. Super cozy. The location was perfect.

There is no in Napa! We have been staying at Meadowood for five years. Despite the reduce size of the property due to the fire, the service and amenities are second to none! From the concierge to the spa, and everything in between, expectations will be exceeded!

Amazing place, exceptional oasis, staff was excellent and incredibly attentive. Grounds were beautiful, accommodations top notch, only downside is it was a little pricey for us so unfortunately we probably won't be coming back. Was worth it for a once in a lifetime splurge!

Beautiful property inside and out! Staff/service was outstanding. Wine and culinary was beyond expectations. Yoga and Spa was top notch. Easy to get around the property and off property. Would go back in a heartbeat!

We loved our stay at Meadowood! It was a mostly rainy weekend, but that only added to our sense of cozy relaxation. The spa was the perfect Saturday activity and our meals at Forum were delicious - especially the scallops for dinner and the avocado toast for breakfast. If it were sunny, we would have used the tennis courts, but a swim in the heated pool while there was a break in the rain was the perfect way to add some movement to the day. 10/10 would recommend!
Be the first to ReplyOur Cabin in the Woods
We have stayed at several nice resort hotels in the valley and for this trip we wanted a different experience and chose Meadowood because of its unique environment of an all cabin styled resort hidden in a small wooded valley. This arrangement appealed to us, especially since we visited just before Christmas. Happily our choice was a good one. We stayed in a two room Treeline suite and it was everything we hoped for. Cozy and cute with raised white paneled walls and vaulted ceilings, fireplace, big window seat, and luxe bathroom. There was also a covered porch with two rocking chairs and a café table with two chairs. We did our best to stay in the suite as often as possible and enjoyed feeling like we had escaped to our very own luxury mountain hideaway. One important caveat; it was 70 steps up from our parked car to the front door and I would say that was an average number. Almost all rooms at the hotel require some effort to reach as they are all located on a steep hillside. All guests park near their room thus there is no need for valet service which was fine with us as was the walk up to the suite. The hotel is full of amenities. There are three pools but only two are heated in the winter months. They are, a family pool, fitness pool, and cabana pool. There is a café that is part of this complex but it was closed during our visit. I like to swim laps and I enjoyed these large pools but thought there was too much concrete surrounding them which took away some of the charm of the otherwise country architecture of the hotel. Also next to the pools is a two story structure that houses a large full gym and locker rooms with sauna and wet areas. A small area used for check in/out is located here but it has no lobby space. Other amenities include several tennis courts, and a very nice spa housed in its own separate building. While these features were great, especially for such a small hotel, the drawback is that they are open to membership of local residences. So while the hotel was very quiet during our stay, the fitness pool was busy as was the gym. The hotel recently opened a new restaurant that is very stylish and modern looking. The food was a little too fancy for our tastes, even for breakfast so we did not dine there. This restaurant is a replacement for the famed one lost in the large 2020 fire that hit the northeastern end of the valley. The immediate area around the base of the resort is fine but just above the cabins it becomes more obvious. The northern end of the resort is closed with the beautiful Croquet Lodge and lawns off limits to guests for now. Meadowood is unique as it is spread out with no real focus at the moment such as a useful lobby or main building with a grouping of rooms. Instead it almost feels like a luxury summer camp. We felt its location halfway between Yountville and Calistoga to be ideal. With the charming and very festive at Christmas time town of St. Helena just minutes away.
Be the first to ReplyBeautifully Serene and Charming
We had been manifesting a stay at Meadowood for quite some time. The timing finally worked out and we enjoyed a night in December. Although it rained our entire stay, we made the most of the property - nice dinner at Forum, dip in the jacuzzi, enjoyed the fitness center, walked our dog around the trails, and took in the nature. The only hiccup was not being able to get connected to the spa to squeeze in a treatment before we checked out. I recommend booking a service in advance to mitigate any disappointment. Overall a lovely stay and we hope to be back again one day! PS: the lovely staff had a dog bed and bowl in our room upon check in for our pup - so sweet! Thank you!

Wonderful accommodations in a tranquil & beautiful setting. Not your cookie-cutter hotel room. Friendly staff with turn down service which is a nice touch. A must-stay resort if you're in the Napa Valley.
Be the first to ReplyBest Place in US to Stay
I've been to hundreds of hotels in the US, including many of the best. None come close to my recent stay at the Meadowood. Spacious rooms, total comfort, privacy, rocking chairs on the front porch overlooking Napa's scenic mountains and valleys. If we wanted to fix a drink, the best choices were at our fingertips.
Be the first to ReplyQuintessentially Napa!
Meadowood is the quintessential wine country resort, reflected in the timeless Backen & Gillam-designed buildings that dot the grounds, other Harlan properties and Napa more broadly, as well as the refined, yet relaxed service and deep integration into the fabric of Napa Valley. Meadowood’s 36 rooms are on the south end of the property near reception, the pool complex and gym. Further up the main drive you will find five tennis courts, an under-construction casual dining restaurant (which opens later this spring) and the spa facilities.
We stayed in a Treeline Suite (room 11) partly up the hill and directly across from the entrance to the pool restaurant. The room’s style is timeless with vaulted ceilings, plenty of natural light and natural materials. Our room had a small living room with gas fireplace and television, a bedroom with a large desk (and an additional, hidden TV on a lift) and lovely window seat along with a comfortable King-sized bed. The bathroom had a glass-enclosed, marble shower, two sinks and a large marble-lined soaking tub with windows opening to the living room (which enables you to watch TV from the bath). The mini-bar area housed premium coffees and teas, delicious locally-sourced snacks and beers (included in your room rate), as well as for-purchase wine and spirits.
There were a lot of thoughtful touches that elevated the room even further like bath salts and candles by the tub, eucalyptus shower spray to use in the steam shower along with the typical, high-quality bath products, welcome caramels and chocolates, and various books celebrating The Restaurant at Meadowood, Relais & Chateaux and Napa Valley. Housekeeping also did a terrific job of cleaning the room, and turndown came with house-made cookies.
The spa facilities were excellent, with a beautiful courtyard, lounging areas for men and women that included plunge pools and outdoor showers, access to saunas and steam rooms, as well as a small boutique. While I didn’t receive a treatment, my wife said that her massage was fantastic, and one of the best she has had in Napa.
Reception houses a nicely-sized gym that includes two rooms of equipment, an outdoor, shaded area with additional cardio machines and weights, as well as a group fitness area. The resort hosted multiple, included classes per day that were attended by guests of the hotel as well as members of the club. Rounding out the facilities is the central pool complex (completed in 2018) with three pools — an adult pool, a lap pool and a family pool, as well as multiple hot tubs, patio space and a full-service restaurant and bar.
The food options are a bit limited while the new casual restaurant is under construction behind Reception, but what is available is excellent. Our in-room breakfast was delicious and delivered quickly. The meals we had at the Pool Terrace restaurant were standouts as well and we would happily eat there on our next trip to Napa irrespective of if we were staying at the resort that visit.
The service we experienced was very friendly, and we were most impressed by how every request we made was proactively met with other suggestions (e.g. we asked for water and they suggested a bucket of ice, we asked for the location of the spa and were offered a pre-scheduled ride around our treatment time etc.). Special shoutout to Alan at the front of house for making the arrival and check-in process such an enjoyable one and Gerardo at the pool grill for great service at both the restaurant and the hot tub.
There is not a lot of constructive feedback that I can offer. Our room’s front deck was very comfortable, but there was limited greenery around it — this could be because of the 2020 Glass Fire or possibly the time of year we were on property, but I think we would have enjoyed the space a bit more if it had been more private. The room layout was just about perfect, but there was no separate water closet in the bathroom and with the opening by the tub, the bathroom was not particularly insulated. The temperature of the adult pool was on the cold side (is it heated?) and the pool needs to be skimmed. Finally we had a couple of service misses around communication of a pre-scheduled taxi pickup and a request for a pillow that never arrived. I only offer this because I know Meadowood is the type of property that strives for (and very frequently delivers) perfection — our stay was stellar and every nitpick above was overwhelmingly counterbalanced by exceeded expectations elsewhere.
There are many more highlights about Meadowood that we were not able to experience on this visit — the expert tennis programming, broader wellness offerings, wine education programs and well-regarded concierge support assembling Napa itineraries to name a few. We are also eagerly anticipating how Chef Kostow and the team at the Restaurant at Meadowood are re-envisioning what is, in my opinion, the consistently best restaurant in the U.S.
It is no surprise that the resort has stood strongly for decades given the warm service, contemplative setting and incredible food and facilities. It will only get better with the upcoming completion of additional dining options. With the facilities of a world-class resort and the current, relatively-low room count as the property rebuilds, I think that now may be the perfect time to go to Meadowood — it is as incredible as ever!
Excellent Customer Service
We were pampered every step of the way! Can't wait to return when the north side of the property opens up! The exceeded our expectations in so many ways, from the beautiful cottage, to the spa, to the grounds and of course the food!
