The Ritz Restaurant London Reviews from The Last Year
fabulous Tea at The Ritz
Yet another five star review to add to the large collection but, frankly, it is so deserving of it. Went with my wife to the famous Tea at The Ritz and we could not have been happier with the experience. The setting is a delight, the food is beyond wonderful and the staff ,oh the staff, from the waiters to the door staff and beyond they are friendly, helpful and there when you need them without being intrusive. We got chatting to a few staff members and it was a common theme that they had been there for many years and had no intention of leaving anytime soon. Their standards are of the highest quality and the training shines through. A fabulous experience and one that we will certainly repeat.
Effortless, sophisticated charm and magic. It’s our first choice for London.
Excellent stay as always, the staff are amazing and accommodating. Old school charm and sophisticated luxury. Afternoon tea was lovely. Our whole stay was magical. It seemed effortless even with the expansion of the hotel next door. I hope it loses none of its values and charm when it’s finished.
Superb!
We went for afternoon tea to celebrate a birthday and we weren’t disappointed! The room was stunning and the staff as you’d would expect were superb. The selection of sandwiches and cakes was plentiful and the champagne added to the booking was the icing on the cake.. we can’t wait to go back again.
The ultimate dining experience in exquisite surroundings
It was our 42nd wedding anniversary and we thought our son had booked us into the Ritz for their famous afternoon tea, but in fact he had booked a lunch experience. The whole experience was brilliant from the start, from the initial greeting by the door staff to the cloakroom attendant, the welcome at the Rivoli bar to the actual meal itself. My wife and I shared the leg of lamb, while my son and niece shared the whole Bresse duck as our mains on the 3 course lunch menu. Both were carved at the table by the knowledgeable staff who took the time to explain each course in detail —this extended to the starters, mains, desserts, amuse bouche even the petit fours. The presentation, the formality and of course the exquisite surroundings of the main dining room with a pianist were beyond reproach as was the quality of the food and impeccable service throughout. Of course all this does not come cheap and our final bill which included cocktails, champagne, wine and coffee came to a four figure amount. It’s affordable only for a special occasion and as a final nice touch we were presented with a small anniversary cake and card to take home. All in all a lovely experience but unlikely to be repeated on a regular basis. We even saw some famous faces also dining there at the same time.
Just wonderful.
I’ve eaten here twice so far in the last 12 months - once alone and once with a friend for my birthday. I have a reservation for in a couple of weeks and I cannot wait. The food is to die for and the service is consistently exceptional in both the bar and restaurant. See you soon!
A memory to treasure ❤️
Beautiful place with the loveliest staff. Very attentive service and at every step catered for lactose free diet for me. It was my birthday treat and I was suprised with a lovely cake and happy birthday played on the piano .food was delicious and the pink champagne just added to the wonderful experience. I was made to feel special made a memory I will treasure. Thank you
Unforgettable Experience
It was exceptional experience. It was my 50th Birthday celebration and the staff makes me feel special. I had special cake and a very nice birthday song! Very friendly and professional. Can’t fault anything. We had takeaway cake as well. Thank you very much.
A memorable experience
We really enjoyed our lunch at the Ritz. The waiters were very efficient and polite They really made you feel special. The flavours and presentation of the food was lovely The wine waiter William was especially helpful The two Italian waiters were also excellent. The banana soufflé was amazing
Wow
An amazing experience. Afternoon tea booked for my moms 60th birthday. It’s something she’s always wanted to do so we all went along for the fun. We received the warmest possible welcome by the doormen who I would like to give a special call out to. They could not have been more welcoming to the six of us. Nothing was too much trouble, happy to take and pose with us for pictures and even encouraged this to help us enjoy the experience. They took our suitcases with no issue at all. Clock room staff were very down to earth and great to chat to. Service continued with a sense of excellence from all. The room sang happy birthday to my mom with a special cake just for her. The afternoon tea itself was also fantastic, everything was quickly replenished upon request. 5/5 Thank you to The Ritz London team and a special shout out to the front doormen on the morning of the 12th of Feb 2024.
overnight stay
We have just had the best time at teh Ritz, from the moment we were welcomed at the kirbside of our taxi until we checked out the service and friendleness of everyone was just outstanding. The afternoon tea was just so good as was the breakfast all made so much better than any other hotel by the extremley attentative staff. We cannot wait to come back.
This was the most glamorous, beautiful restaurant I've ever
This was the most glamorous, beautiful restaurant I've ever been to and it made for a very memorable 30th birthday for my sister. The food at the high tea was exquisite! The pastries were each handmade and must've taken hours to make. The little sandwiches were simple but delicious. The band played Christmas music and played happy birthday for my sister which was a ton of fun. The service was wonderful and the room was the prettiest room imaginable!
This place was no doubt the nicest restaurant for high tea.
Walking in, two men in fancy suits greeted me at the door. Me and my two kids dressed up; and were glad we did. Everyone was wearing gowns due to the dress-code; men in coats and ties and in general dress smart. Everything was breathtaking; flowers, plants, and all the architectural design was impressive. We were then escorted to our seats, and not soon after, ordered our tea. The service was spectacular. All the men wore fancy suits with tails. Our personal favorites from tea included the Lemon Verbena, Classic Chai and the Passion fruit and Orange (all amazing). They gave us multiple refills on sandwiches and pastries, and when we got a to-go box, they gave us extras. The ladies restroom known there as the powder room was beautiful. Lily pads, flowers and plants made up the wallpaper. All the sinks were pink marble, and there was a literal hot pink sofa and chairs scattered about. I have nothing bad to say about The Ritz. It was a perfect, gorgeous dining experience.
We went for afternoon tea.
I made reservations a month ahead of the date. They get booked fast, so don't wait. We arrived and were greeted at the door by the doorman. We walked in to a beautiful hotel. The tea room is also very beautiful. We left our coats at the coat room and were seated immediately for our 5:30 tea time. We ended up getting the champagne tea. So, you start with a glass of champagne prior to your tea. Everything is done quickly. Before you know it, you have your sandwiches and tea at your table. The presentation was beautiful. Sandwiches: my favorite was the egg sandwich, but all of them were good. Everything, except the champagne, is all you can eat or drink, but we couldn't even finish what they served us the first round. All the sandwiches come on different breads. All good on their own way. My second and third favorites were the salmon and cheese and chutney. They also bring out a cucumber sandwich, ham and chicken sandwich. Pastries: they were all delicious, but my favorite was the passion fruit one. There was one lemon meringue one and a type of stuffed banana bread one. If you're from the US, the scones are not what you expect. They are biscuits. They have a good flavor. A little dense. Tea: you have to finish your pot before ordering a new one. Since there were three of us in our party, we were able to taste several ones. We all agreed that the earl grey was the best from the four we got. We also tried the Moroccan mint, Rose congou, Passion fruit and orange My birthday was the week of my visit and they surprised me with a birthday dessert. That was super nice of them. The staff was great. Very proper. The only hiccup we encountered was when we were leaving. We were taking a selfie and the door man told a driver standing next to him that Americans thought everything was special. He was pretty loud about it and since we were the only ones around, we thought he directed it to us. We decided to brush it off and continue our london adventures.

Prepaid Reservation Fee

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
