Beautiful hotel with breath taking views all around the property.
This is the third time Iโve stayed at the surf lodge over the past years and I must admit it was my best experience during pre fashion week. Jayma is so attentive to the needs of all her guests. I traveled with my ESA service dog and he enjoyed the walks around the gorgeous property. Having a restaurant, live music, and outdoor bars are a plus. We definitely will be back soon.

We had a wonderful time at Surferโs Lodge in Montauk, what a discovery! Beautiful rooms decorated with love and attention to detail, view on the pond, calm but lively! The staff is super friendly and adds to an entirely relaxing atmosphere. We loved it and would recommend it for a relaxed and fun weekend getaway.

The hotel is a beautiful boutique type that is a must see in while in the Hamptons. Not only is the hotel great (Reese was the best in helping us during our stay), but the restaurant is amazing as well as the deck at night during the parties. This is a great place to come if you want to spot a celebrity while also having the time of your life. Cant wait to go back next summer.

I've been coming to Montauk for several years and to say I've never been to the Surf Lodge would be a fallacy - I've spent countless hours at the Surf Lodge watching sunsets over Fort Pond Bay, enjoying dinner with friends, and watching live shows on weekends. This year, however, was the first year I stayed at the hotel and was impressed. It's no surprise that Surf Lodge's location is perfect to accessing the town and related beaches and the marina & Gosman's dock at the northern end of Edgemere (notable restaurants like Duryea's, Montauket, Navy Beach are all a 15-20 min walk). The availability of cars and bikes to use however was a great perk. The rooms are minimalist, but elegant and in line with the overall vibe of Montauk. I also appreciate the team's efforts in working with new and local brands to promote sustainable products - the fridge was fully stocked new-to-market drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic). Despite being next to a venue with live music, the rooms were surprisingly quiet. Guest are treated to a light breakfast (think croissant, yogurt, granola), which was perfect before getting the day going. A couple reviews point out mosquitos - the hotel is situated on the banks of a fresh water pond, so in July and August, the mosquitos can be a nuisance at night if relaxing on the balcony or back deck (for ground floor rooms). Nothing a citronella candle (provided) and spray can't solve, and for he sunset views, worth it!

My friend and I had the most lovely stay to close out the Summer. Upon arriving we realized that one of our favorite artists had adorned the walls with intricate murals that instantly transported us to a serene dream. The staff were more than welcoming, offering us early check-in. We had a drink from the patio bar overlooking the water and went to see our room. The COMPLIMENTARY mini bar of high-end curated luxury skincare and tonics was too good to be true... no seriously. $1000 worth of the best of the best- organic vitamins, non toxic suncare products, cbd lolli pops and more. A true surprise and stand-out gesture we will never forget. The hotel went on to offer live music, divine dining, a complimentary mini cooper to cruise around & all around great vibes. Very curious to check out their snow location in Aspen. Truly amazing experience, would move in if we could. xx

I booked Surf Lodge under the impression myself and my 3 girlfriends would be guaranteed entry to the parties. However, we werenโt allowed in to Surf Lodge on Saturday evening, which felt like a complete cop-out given thatโs why we stayed there. Flies in the cramped, tiny hotel room. Constant buzzing in my ear. Be prepared for spiders, bugs, flies. No customer service. We called the front desk numerous times for toilet paper, clean towels. No one answered the phone. Even before our visit, we called with questions. The calls were never picked up or returned. Housekeeping cleaned the room once during our 3-night stay. We requested cleans each day. On Saturday, we asked the housekeeper to please clean our room and provide us with toilet paper and clean towels and she was rude to us. Would not recommend.

Went to The Surf Lodge with my family and some friends and it was both relaxing and fun. The room was large and had stunning water views. The entire venue has always a great vibe and the staff makes you feel welcome and appreciated. The restaurant has a great menu. I loved the Cacio e Pepe and the lobster roll! We had dinner while sun set in front of us. It was incredible. The night was epic with great performances and just amazing music. My family and friends are definitely going back next Summer!
Be the first to ReplySurf Lodge - no place Iโd rather be in the summer
Surf Lodge has a special place in my heart. By far the best party scene in the Hamptons. Iโve stayed at the hotel and have visited many times for the restaurant, events and outdoor bar. The food is great. The atmosphere perfect. The beach area is comfortable and relaxing. This summer they have drawn big names in music for live performances. The venue is small and intimate, yet lively. Exclusive and attractive crowd. Iโll never forget this summer because of The Surf Lodge. Rhys OโConnell went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. The rooms were in pristine condition and we had access to the grounds which came in handy for Zeddโs performance. Also the breakfast croissants are unbelievable and I loved the balcony outside of our room- great place to read. Thank you Rhys, thank you Surf Lodge!! Will be back again and again.
Be the first to ReplyMy favorite destination in all of the Hamptons / Montauk!
The choice is simple. You want to stay at The Surf Lodge. Where to begin....for me it was the live music performances that I adored first. Due to the properties size your experience is an intimate and exclusive one. They attract top music talent which brings in a fun lively crowd. There's really no where else you can view top level music from their deck mere feet away from the stage. They have comfortable beach seating as well which allows you to look out at the water and admire nightly amazing sunsets. Speaking of the views my room had a balcony looking out at the water which was quiet and peaceful in between the fun. We ate 2 meals here during our stay and the menu is well balanced and delicious. Your reservation gives you full access of the property and it's events which is a huge plus and one less thing to worry about. This isn't a mega resort with only a handful of rooms here which is nice and makes it feel like a close knit family. Everyone seems to know everyone and gets along with the same main goal of having a great time. The location is just a mile or so away from town for easy access, yet removed for privacy. I can't wait to return! Thank you Surf!

I had the best weekend with my friends. The rooms are spacious and the bed very comfortable, really good shower. Also has a very charming balcony where you can see the sunset. Also is very convenient for anyone who wants to have fun at The surf lodge!

The property and the staff were fantastic. They rolled out the red carpet for me and made me feel at home! I can't wait to come back again soon and would recommend The Surf Lodge to anyone looking to immerse themselves in Montauk. Loved Cristina and Eloise at the front desk!

I can't say enough amazing things about The Surf Lodge - it truly feels like going home every time I visit - the sweetest staff, coolest vibe, and the best view of the sunset! Counting down the days until I return!!

We've been getting to this place for the last 5-7 years and unfortunately restaurant is getting worse. We came for brunch 2 days ago and were disappointed. First of all we went through the menu with our waitress and realized a lot of items were not available. Then my wife ordered what was on the menu and she had to return it twice because it was the wrong item. When the staff brought her plate second time we all told him it was the wrong item but the guy told us he didn't know anything and put the plate on the table. My son also had to return his plate .. It seemed to me that waitresses were overworked and they were constantly running around. The only entry we enjoyed was oysters.
And what about parking your car 1/4 miles away at the train station and then walking along the road?!
And the last thing, it used to be a normal place where families with children used to go, but the day we were there it was filled with 20+ kids in full makeup in designer clothes like Saturday night in SoHo nightclub. I guess owners prefer this sort of patrons.
Horrible. Just the worst.
I would never go back. We tried to go - they let a girl in in front of us who turned around and said โsorry honeyโ. Followed by the owner being at the entrance saying - let no one else in. So pretty twatty and petty.
Be the first to ReplyTERRIBLE -went to restaurant
Went there for the Nancy Atlas concert and was excited to go back. Unless you are someone or a VIP you canโt make any reservations. I walked into the place to see if this was possible and the manager was less than helpful and was not at all trying to lessen the blow. Her attitude was awful. UNLESS you are an East Hamptoner elite person-you canโt get in this over priced place for a simple dinner. DO NOT GO if you donโt want to feel like your money does not count.

Great hotel with unbelievable staff!!
We just returned from a 3 day visit to the Surf Lodge in Montauk. I travel a lot (pre COVID), so I have experienced the good and the bad. The rooms at the Surf Lodge are spacious, comfortable and clean. They have been nicely updated. The location is very picturesque and you will be tempted to spend too much time enjoying the sunsets over the view of the lake. However, our stay was taken from good to incredible by the hostess, Amanda. Amanda might be one of the nicest, most accommodating people that we have ever met. Not only did she greet us, make sure that we were happy with our room, but she also let us use her car for three days, so that we could park at the beach. It's the kind of service that you will never forget and that will tell all of your friends about. Amanda, whatever they are paying you, is not enough! You are a wonderful person and awesome at what you do. Thank you for the awesome hospitality!!!

My wife and I went for a long weekend in mi July. We read some reviews and where so excited to go.
Long story short, bad service (staff makes you feel you are inconveniencing them, breakfast sad ad scarce, blinds in the room completely translucent, people yelling outside the room. We where fooled by the website..
It is a 3 star hotel in my opinion. We paid 700 use a night. We decided to leave a day earlier to the city, and not even complained..didn't wanted to deal with the staff..
Came for the good times stayed for the humiliation โ๐ผ
Posting this review in March 2020 for a stay from Aug 2019 because I was recently reminded what a disaster mess my last experience was. The flashbacks were so strong that I am confident even months later I can get an honest review out. Iโve stayed at The Surf Lodge each year for the last 3 years. Each year the stay has been getting significantly worse. Pros are the products in the room and the wristbands to the concerts. The cons are the staff making you feel like you are inconveniencing them with your existence. Breakfast used to a spread be out in the dining area and was changed this past year to a waitress bringing over a sad bowl of yogurt and granola. Restaurant food is overpriced and average at best. Trying to get the wristbands for the concerts (best part) involved being ignored for 10 minutes by beautiful but flippant hostesses then speaking to a lady who gave us the attitude and repeatedly questioned our assertions that we were guests. Eventually we procured said wristbands with some dignity still intact, but damn. Will stay elsewhere for the coming summer.
Be the first to ReplyMight be the worst hotel I have ever stayed at
My husband and I went to Montauk every other weekend and did a share house with some friends. We have not been in about 4 years because we moved to the west coast and wanted to go back. We decided to stay at the surf lodge.
Issues:
-we were told we would have a water front room. When we arrived our room was blocked 100% by trees and bushes. We asked to switch and were moved to another room with trees and bushes blocking the view. When we went to ask what was going on we were told word for word "it is a water front view-it's just behind the bushes." We were told they actually don't have water front rooms unless you book the suites- however their website advertises the room we booked as water front. We put a premium on having water front-- their website blatantly lied. The rooms are not worth the price to stare at a bunch of dirty bushes.
-It smelled like sewer for the first day because they had a party the day we arrived. It was clear that this party was their main priority.
-Our room had so many bugs in it. We had to kill about 10-15 every night.
-People yelling outside our room
-Trash, cigarette buds, old broken chairs, old broken umbrellas stacked in the beach area to the point it was gross to sit at.
-We went for complimentary breakfast and waited forever to be served. When we were it was yogurt and berries. Pretty lame breakfast.
-Blinds in the bedroom are completely translucent- you get woken up when the sun comes up. This is absurd to me. They could not provide me with an eye mask or tell me where to get one in town.
-I was excited because on the website it lists products and amenities in the room. We did not book for the products and amenities, but it gives off the impression that the hotel is nice. They claim they have dyson hairdryers (they do not). They claim that you get goop products etc... and some things to take home. When I asked they said that is only on Saturday nights. Again nothing on the website indicates this. False advertising.
-None of the bikes worked
Literally nothing about this hotel was good. I have stayed at b&b's, hostels, and bungalows without power that were nicer than this and I have been happier with. Save your money and stay someplace else.
They did give us 50% off one of three nights after we complained. It was still not worth it to us.
If you are coming to attend their parties and get a wristband then it is probably worth it for you.
Don't be fooled... still a three star hotel
I didn't know I could hate myself for booking a hotel, but with this one I did. We stayed for two days after labor day and it seemed the hotel had nearly shut down for the season already when we stayed. Neither the restaurant or bar were open midweek. So essentially we paid almost $700 to stay in a three star hotel for two nights with no place to eat or have a drink.. eyeroll. I considered giving an average review but there were too many maintenance issues to warrant a positive experience even with just the room. For a "lake view" room there was a large bush blocking the entire terrace, the screened door was broken and there are no chairs to sit out on the terrace either. Room felt dirty. The hanging chair barely fit in the room and felt forced. No toiletries available other than cheap-feeling shampoo, no hairdryer or iron in the room. There was an events guide from 2018 in the drawer, but covered in stale beer...still wet even. The only positive thing was the free bikes to ride around town. I'm embarrassed we stayed here.
