The Wallace New York Reviews from The Last Year
Wow! Stay here on the Upper West Side.
Wow! Stay here on the Upper West Side. Room: Great room. Our room was a junior suite and had a nice sitting area, small dining/cocktail table, wet bar, large mini fridge, Nespresso coffee maker, closet, and a separate clothing rack - so plenty of room for clothing. The room had a large TV with exceptional screen quality, wood laminate floors, and large windows that let the light shine in during the day, but with electronic blackout curtains that kept it dark at night. The room was one of the cleanest (if not THE cleanest) hotel room that we have experienced. Bed: Super comfortable, with super clean, soft, white linens. Bath: Large marble bathroom, large walk-in shower, HUGE separate soaking tub, plenty of bath amenities, and plenty of clean white bath towels. Amenities: As stated, nice bath products, Nespresso maker, plus an umbrella, Nespresso pods, tea bags, two soft white bathrobes, and two pairs of slippers. Free bottled water in a larger-than-usual mini fridge. Modern, electronic lighting and curtain controls. In-room air conditioning/thermostat controls. Lobby/Common Area: Welcoming space. Greeted by smiling faces with super personalities. Large common area/bar area with plenty of space and a beautiful fireplace. Check for hours as it is a small bar, but is a super space. The whole first-floor lobby/bar area is filled with the best-smelling candle fragrance. Nice! I think they have music most nights. Cleanliness: This is our number one requirement in a hotel stay. You will not be disappointed here as the entire space was super clean - from lobby to room. The elevators were even exceptionally clean, rare for most hotels. This was one of the cleanest (if not the cleanest) hotels we have ever experienced. Location: New for us, this location is super, just a block off Broadway on the Upper West Side. A 5-10 minute walk to Central Park. A short taxi ride to the theater district. A grocery store around the corner, and plenty of places to eat within walking distance. A quiet neighborhood feel that is just enough off the beaten path not to hear lots of night city sounds. People: Exceptional - thank you to Victor, Justin, Melvita, Naika, Talia, and Jaysean. The people here seem like they are in the right business - they seem to really, really enjoy people, their jobs, and being alive - rare to find anywhere, especially now - what a great group of people. Thank you all.
Perfect for a family with small children
Perfect location and room for a family with small children! Friendly and helpful staff and ideal neighborhood in the city. Would love to stay again!
Wonderful quick stay!
The 5 star reviews of this property were right on! Room was large, modern and very clean! Beds were comfortable and the check in and check out process was very easy! Our room happened to become ready minutes after we had checked in..it was early around 1 pm which was great as we had tickets to a 3 pm matinee. There are two parking garages a two minute walk from the hotel which so convenient! Highly recommend this hotel and it will be our new go to for any stays in the city!
Gem in the upper West Side.
A lovely hotel with a welcoming, helpful staff, spacious accommodations, and a beautiful bar area. Great location--short walk to Central Park, museums, and subway. Will return.
Top choice for the upper west side.
This hotel is a real find and an amazing value for the room quality and friendly service. We stayed in a deluxe suite and the room was on the par with the elite five star hotels in NYC, at a much more reasonable price. The front desk staff, doormen, and room cleaning staff were upbeat and always willing to assist. We also experienced some excellent post-stay follow up from the front office team. The neighborhood has a great array of coffee shops, supermarkets, restaurants, and the like. And the traffic is so much easier than midtown. We knew going in that the Wallace does not have a restaurant or room service, but the plusses make this our return choice for the upper west side. Well done the Wallace team! DA.
A very good, quiet experience in NYC
Very clean hotel and good quality room service. Welcoming and friendly staff, especially the doorman, adorable! We had a suite and a king size room, both were comfortable, quite a few cupboards for storage. On the other hand, slight problem with soundproofing (we could hear a little conversations in the corridor in the morning). Bedding quality: very good Proximity to the metro: lines 1, 2 and 3, 5 minutes on foot. This allows you to be both quiet (compared to Times Square) and close to everything. No breakfast in the hotel but I recommend the Mille Feuilles bakery a few steps away. No restaurants in the hotel but quite a few small restaurants in the surrounding area (near Amsterdam Avenue). We were unable to get a table for the jazz evenings organized by the hotel. The atmosphere seemed very good but always full. Perhaps the hotel could offer to reserve a table before customers arrive because once there, it's too late! I recommend this hotel because compared to other hotels in NYC, excellent value for money.
Long on style, a bit short on comfort
For us, the Wallace had more pros than cons. Perhaps this list will be helpful for you: The pros: - we love this upper west side location - the common areas and the room were clean and modern - the staff was friendly and helpful -the bathroom was very nice - there are fabulous drinks and free fries for happy hour in the cozy lobby The cons: - while the room is stylish, it is missing some things that would make it more comfortable like a luggage rack and storage. The bathroom had one hook and no towel racks. Maybe a larger room would be a better experience? - I worked from our room for several days and there was very noisy construction outside all day long. Of you plan to be gone all day, this will not bother you, but if you are going to be in your room during the day, at least is spring of 2024, the rooms away from the street are very noisy.
Stylish hotel in nice neighbourhood
We chose this hotel as we wanted to be in a quieter area and needed a bit more space. We chose a double queen suite for the three of us. The area was good with two subway stations nearby 72nd Street and 79th Street - these take you downtown very quickly and itโs easy to get connections to go further afield. Thereโs a cafe on the corner of the street where we got really good pastries and coffees for breakfast each morning. There are quite a few restaurants, cafes and shops nearby. When we arrived we received a warm welcome and were quickly checked in, our room was very nice and spotlessly clean. Great first impression! Beds were comfortable and bedding good quality, although I prefer a duvet cover rather than the bottom and top sheet configuration that tends to be used in the USA. There were two big drawers and a hanging rail as well as several other small drawers next to the bed and in the dressing table. The bathroom was spacious by NYC standards with a good shower (rain head and wall mounted shower head). The living area was very comfortable with a large sofa with chaise long section big enough to be a third bed! Huge T.V. under which is a big unit with lots of storage which also serves as a desk with a desk chair. We ate our breakfast here most days and takeout one afternoon. There are no plates or cutlery so make sure you bring/buy some if youโre planning to eat in the room. The wet bar area has a sink, fridge, kettle, coffee machine and complimentary hospitality drawer. The wardrobe is at the entrance to the room (in the living area) and is spacious and houses an iron, bathrobes, slippers, hairdryer (not very powerful compared to UK ones!) and umbrella. There were plenty of hangers and a floor to ceiling shelved section. There are panels with buttons controlling the lights and blinds with a โprivacyโ and โserviceโ setting which was handy. If I was being really picky, there are a couple of things which would make it absolutely perfect, some hooks for coats in the living area somewhere and a heated towel rail in the bathroom. Also, housekeeping was a little bit bit and miss, the hospitality drawer wasnโt always topped up and I noticed the counter top wasnโt wiped a couple of days, but overall the room was very clean and housekeeping more than happy to provide what you needed very quickly when called. We unfortunately had some Very noisy people above our room, we probably could have moved rooms if weโd asked but I didnโt want to pack everything up again so we stayed put, it didnโt interfere too much. There are no other services available in the hotel, itโs really just a serviced room. The Wallace Lounge is run separately and is only open in the evening. We ate there one night and the food was very nice. Itโs a shame this area couldnโt be used to provide drinks and snacks in the day too as itโs a very comfortable area to sit. Even just providing tea/coffee and drinks would have been nice.
The Wallace Hotel in NYC
This boutique hotel is a gem. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice and clean. A cozy lounge to have drinks. The location is on the upper west side and is easily accessible to great restaurants and stores. I can highly recommend this little beauty. Thumbs up!!
Fantastic hotel, definitely the best in the UWS, loved it
Fantastic hotel, definitely the best in the UWS, loved it all especially the great designer finishes in the space, really exceptional and helpful staff THANKYOU, beyond accommodating management who helped me extend my stay- including a booked out Saturday night in prime Dec holiday time. The rooms are quality and set out well. Would definitely recommend the Wallace Hotel!

Wow. Where do I start? This place is a godsend for the Upper West Side of NYC. The staff is wonderful and friendly, the bar is awesome (quiet and very comfortable) with live singing all three weekend nights that we were there. The rooms leave nothing to chance and are very spacious (even the smaller suites). Comfortable beds, newer everything and the hotel is very quiet. We loved both the traditional and colonial decor of the hotel, and it combined these two styles impeccably. All we can say is we truly look forward to our next stay. For years while visiting NYC we relied on other hotels but they were all hit and miss. The Wallace Hotel has become our go-to place to stay when in the city. This location is perfect. Kudos to the management and to the employees. We literally can't wait to come back to it.
After running the NYC Marathon, we checked into our room on
After running the NYC Marathon, we checked into our room on the 11th floor. We were disappointed that the room did not have a view even though we made that request and they assured us that the room had a view when we checked in. Then, all night we heard a gurgling sound coming from the sink in the minikitchen area. The closet light flickered on and off all night as well. The next day we texted the front desk about these problems, and they assured us that they would be fixed while we were out of the room that day. Nonetheless, the sink and the light were not fixed for our second night. When we pointed that out, the front desk said they would take off the price of one nights stay, which they did, except they took off the cheaper of the two night's stay, which we thought was cheesy. That said, the room was nice, the bed was comfortable, and the location was great. The Concierge was also very helpful with restaurant recommendations.

The Wallace may be my favorite anywhere, but definitely in New York. Everything is perfect, beautiful and well thought out. They put such care into creating such a lovely hotel. I will definitely be back!
I'm perplexed by these good reviews.
I had a pleasant stay and would have thought about staying here again (I travel often with my office in NY but live in FL) until the experience I had upon departure. I asked for a 1pm checkout - 1 hr past the normal checkout time. I was told no as the hotel was fully booked. I was traveling with a 2yr old who had an AM doc appt and pleaded for a late check out before we had to leave for the airport. I'm a mom traveling by myself. Everything takes longer with a toddler in tow, especially trekking through NYC. Instead of being met with even the slightest kindness and consideration I was met with a no. Story short- I ended racing back from Mt Sinai still 45 mins after 12 and my key was blocked and I was locked out. We resolved the issue but you know, the room wasn't needed at 12:45 and you survived the day just fine. I however did not- try traveling with a nap deprived 2 year old. Just a comment to say that sometimes kindness and compassion for a mother traveling alone means the world. Unfortunately a great hotel is not the last thing I'll remember

If I could give this 6 stars, I would! This hotel was fantastic! We ordered pizza and they told us to call them when we were done and they would clean up our food. The rooms are very clean, the staff is extremely kind, the view is great, and the decor is beautiful! You should definitely visit this beautiful hotel!

My partner and I came here for a quick whirlwind staycation and it was perfect! The hotel receptionist was so fun and nice, and the piano bar in the lobby is so lovely and such a hidden gem! The room was also so clean. Would absolutely stay again.
