Already desperate to go again!
My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful overnight stay and dinner at the Waterside Inn and already can’t wait to return. Can’t imagine anywhere better for a special occasion. The food, wine, service and setting are all magical. Hope they keep doing what they do for many more decades!

We were lucky enough to be given a gift voucher so cost wasn’t an issue for us. Dinner with an overnight stay is expensive but it’s a huge treat and so worth it, if you realise that this is not something you would do every day. We had been looking forward to our visit for many months and we would go back once a year, or just once a decade, if we could. As soon as we arrived we felt looked after and very welcome. No fuss, just brilliant, efficient service with nothing too much trouble. Our room was very comfortable with everything we needed. There was some noise from the extractors outside but as long as we kept the bathroom door closed we were fine. Lovely view over the terrace to the river too. But oh my, the food! The meal and wine we enjoyed will stay in my memory for years to come. The lobster is just amazing, meat is of the highest quality and flavours sang off the plate. There is no chance of going hungry either, with little mouthfuls while you are choosing and wonderful petits fours if, like me, you can’t manage dessert. I always look out for how staff are treated and this was an absolute lesson in how to guide younger staff with just a small gesture, encourage them to go beyond the expectations of their guests and, by just a gentle and almost unnoticeable pat on the arm, recognise that they have done well. Fantastic. Thank you everyone. This was the experience of a lifetime.

We recently visited the Waterside Restaurant in Bray, Maidenhead. Absolute perfection. The food, service , location and food were beautiful. I cannot praise them enough. Fantastic value for money for evening meal, taster menu.

In all our visits, over many years, The Waterside sets the standard! Wonderfully presented, beautifully cooked food; complemented by excellent service. Just look at our photo’s.

A flawless experience! Celebrated my wife’s 50th birthday and we had an awesome time. Staff were brilliant and we wanted for nothing. The taster menu and wines were among the best we have ever experienced. Luck enough to get tour of kitchens which were spotless. Beautiful room with outdoor area and a lovely breakfast tray the next morning. Perfect and unforgettable experience

From start to finish this establishment performs on every level. If you want ground breaking or pretentious food this is not the place. Classics are that for a reason and this place does them better than anywhere else in my opinion and has been able to bring them bang up to date. The staff, however, are what make The Waterside Inn unforgettable. Friendly, energetic and so so welcoming. Well done to The Waterside Inn for bringing together such a great team! This filters through to the atmosphere which creates a wonderful and relaxed ambiance. Perfect!
Be the first to ReplyNot everything we had hoped for
We came here with high hopes, some of which were met, but some of which really weren’t. Overall, we had a pleasant enough time, but the standards we were expecting weren’t consistent across the whole meal (the tasting menu). Some of the dishes were really very good, (e.g a superb duck consommé), but the main chicken dish we didn’t even finish. The chicken skin was soggy (how does that even pass inspection in a three star restaurant?), the meat wasn’t moist and the celeriac on the side was underdone. The soufflés scored 7/10. Not bad, but a little heavy, and as per a previous reviewer’s comments, we’ve had significantly better dishes at restaurants with fewer (or no) stars. One other factor was the dining room itself. It’s oddly noisy due to the acoustics. Even though the restaurant wasn’t at all full, it felt more like eating in a noisy canteen than in a high-end restaurant. Overall, we were glad we came to check it out, but we left in no hurry to return. Even though some of the dishes were really very good, when balanced against the overall cost, we did not feel this was anything like commensurate with the money spent. With three stars, we were expecting the exceptional, and that just did not happen on this occasion. PS. One other thing. The serving staff were absolutely brilliant. Friendly, attentive, helpful. They were spot on and none of the above comments reflect on them.

Fabulous fine dining experience - It’s a legendary restaurant but the standards never slip, every course on the tasting menu is exceptional. The rooms are lovely, ours had a terrace and view over the river. The continental breakfast served to the room is also an absolute delight, as you’d expect from the Roux family. Perfect location, perfect food, perfect service.

Absolutely superb, in food, wine, service and setting. I’m deducting a star for serving foie gras in a canapé, which I sent back: just choose something less controversial (and cruel). Otherwise, unfaultable. The food was all good … but the starter of poached egg, truffle, asparagus and grains - I’ve never had anything like it, it was pure heaven. The texture changes as you eat it and the tastes are divine. Service was very accomplished yet never stuffy. Expensive - worth every penny (and pound😊)

I think I always knew the food was going to be spectacular, it certainly didn’t disappoint; service was also going to be a little bit special given the family history of this iconic restaurant. What I didn’t expect was the very personable reception from all the lovely young people that served us, especially Molly, she’s a very bright star, Clitheroe’s finest export!!! Thank you for a very special experience.

I have had the pleasure to dine and stay at the Waterside for many years and on this occasion to take my daughter and her fiancé as a pre wedding treat, which was a dream come true! This gastronomic experience is second to none with outstanding presentation and clever flavour combinations to tantalise the palate using a vast array of balanced ingredients. Every morsel was exceptional! The dining experience was enhanced by impeccable service from the whole team who notice every little detail, who were extremely friendly and totally knowledgeable about everything from the food to wines and spirits. They are a complete credit to the restaurant. I cannot afford to dine here frequently but save up to come once a year and have never been disappointed nor made to feel anything other than special. The rooms were also perfect and spotlessly clean. Yes it is expensive but it’s 3 Michelin stars so start saving now for a lifetime memory.

An incredible restaurant, beautiful views and insane food. We came here last night for a special birthday and from start to finish, it was just incredible. We were greeted at the desk by lovely members of staff and shown to our room. The room was gorgeous and there was plenty of space and attention to detail. Once ready, we headed down to the restaurant and were shown outside for a drink before being seated. The views along the river were beautiful and very relaxing. We chose to have the tasting menu, one meat version and one vegetarian and both were absolutely incredible. The food is the best we have ever had. Every single course was beautifully served to perfection. An absolute treat and we can’t wait to return.

Second visit to the Waterside Inn. First visit was excellent but this was even better. Stayed in same room "La Regate" Reception was first class and room perfect. We opted for the "A La Carte" menu this visit and the food was sublime. Service unsurpassed. Great breakfast tray in morning. All in all a Fabulous experience. We definitely intend to return. Can't wait.

Decided to leave the confines of the caravan park and headed here for dinner. From the outside of the building it didn’t look busy at all and so we weren’t really expecting much. However, on entering the place was bustling. The atmosphere was amazing, staff were super friendly and attentive and the food was to die for!!! in fact the food was so good we went back for breakfast a few days later and that didn’t disappoint either. Portion sizes were generous to say the least. Wish we had discovered this place sooner throughout our stay as we would have been there every day. Thank you so much to the staff who were absolutely rushed off their feet during dinner service yet remained attentive. The guy and gal on the tills taking orders were equally lovely, the good working relationship between staff members was lovely to witness and provided a relaxed vibe. Would 100% eat here again. And it’s literally a short walk from Waterside caravan park!!

The Waterside is our special place. We are treated like royalty, everyone is, and the food!!! Incredible. Located by the Thames, this ticks all the boxes. Everyone should come here once in their lifetime. We come every single opportunity we can. This time it was our anniversary and WOW. Tasting menu was delicious. Thank Waterside for another memorable experience.

I booked the Waterside for our joint birthdays and as a treat for my son and his girlfriend. We decided on a Sunday lunchtime, 12 o'clock and the Menu Excecptionale for all of us. We arrived slightly early got the car parked and sat comfortably in the reception area. we were shown to our table promptly at 12 and settled in. We started with a Bellini whilst pondering the menu. in total with the chefs delights etc we devoured seven courses of exceptional food. We were also surprised with a Birthday cake course. The service was outstanding, attentive, courteous, and unobtrusive. We finished having our coffee/teas and petit fours on the veranda by the Thames. The car was delivered back to us when requested and we drove off with smiles on our faces. A very very memorable experience.

We booked a room and evening meal for a special occasion. Everything from the moment we arrived was perfect -- especially ALL the staff. We chose the tasting menu and had no regrets. It was a perfectly balanced menu that we thoroughly enjoyed. Yes, its expensive, but if you can, go treat yourself.
Be the first to Replyoh my - amazing in every way and an unforgettable meal
we loved every second of our special birthday meal here - the location and service and the food is the best in the world we would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant if you are seeking to dine in one of the best places in the world

There is no much to say about a place that gets confirmed three star Michelin for 25 years in a row. From the welcoming , to the attention at the smallest details , the natural classy attitude by every employee … that makes this place special , 188 pounds for a Degustation Menu per person , a normal price for a faultless dinner… HATS OFF to the Team.

Service fantastic, food sublime, from booking to walking through the door to staying to arrival for dinner absolutely flawless. Every little attention to detail, flavours were a gastronomical delight. Beautiful.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic service
A great location by the river with very attentive staff, almost over staffed in fact but that was a good and rare thing. Great add on was a very pleasant gent who parked your car for you.
The food was very good especially the desserts which were exceptional, just a poor choice for vegetarian mains as there were none available on the a la carte menu.
The cocktails we chose were fabulous and the Chablis 2019 Alain roux white wine was outstanding.
The main down side was the price, I appreciate to reach 3 Michelin stars takes tremendous hard work and covers a lot of aspects of gastronomy and service but I felt £45 for asparagus soup starter was unbelievably steep!
Overall a great experience, just a couple of draw backs.
Fantastic service and amazing food
This was a birthday treat and we hadn’t been for three or four years. Prices have risen but fantastic service and beautiful food were worth it. We enjoyed the new restaurant improvements which have opened up the view of the river. Overall the service was exceptional and all our food choices exceeded our expectations.

Returned to our favourite restaurant after a 2 year lay-off.
Chose the menu exceptionnel with the cheaper, though not cheap of course, wine flight.
The service and food quality impeccable as usual.
Updated decor, lighting and air conditioning top class.
It's still understated in all ways to make one's experience as relaxed as possible to appreciate the food and ambience.
Staff friendly and not 'stuffy'.
Perfectly trained.
The Directors, Management, Chefs and the wider team deserve well earned pats on the backs.
Remains our favourite of all time.
As a footnote, service is now discretionary rather than inclusive but I made allowances for this in light of the recent 'difficulties'.
Just Perfect
Once again another perfect experience, lunch this time, at this amazing restaurant.
The whole place is fabulous … staff, food, atmosphere (even when it is pouring with rain!)
We are always welcomed back from the doorman to the Maitre D’.
Will look forward to our next visit and plan it soon.
Thank you all once again … see you soon.
Wonderful !
Waterside Inn is situated in Bray in an enviable position on the River Thames. Impeccable service and attention to detail. It was faultless experience the moment we arrived from the valet parking and reception staff, Food at it's finest, and no wonder it thoroughly deserves its 3* Michelin rating for over 25 years. . Taster Menu dishes served at the right time intervals, excellent and friendly staff, highly recommended.
