Outstanding service everywhere at this hotel
Wonderful spot for a relaxing afternoon drink or tea or quick lunch. Impeccable service at the Lanesborough Hotel.

Iโve visited this hotel many times for afternoon tea / dinner, until Iโve had a very bad experience. While Iโve waited for my taxi in the entrance area, a young male staff member, told me rudely to leave the hotel. Very upset by his rude tone and demand, I told the other staff member present how this is no way to speak to a lady which is obvious. This other staff member said he wasnโt rude or out of line which he clearly was but it made me realise the obvious prejudice these male staff members have against pretty young women and a hostile policy which is clearly endorsed by the management.

We visited The Withdrawing Room Twice. Once for an emergency breakfast and once a late night bite before bed. We normally take our breakfast in the Cรฉleste but there was some technical glitch and we were also late coming down so were invited to take breakfast in the Withdrawing room. The room with amazing. Such a beautiful place in comparison with the lobby area other hotels generally provide whole day dining. Unfortunately, The breakfast that day was a let down, especially when comparing unfairly with Cรฉleste. Hopefully it's that day only because of the power cut However, what surprises me was how the senior sales manager Ms.J T flying around asking for guest' reaction about the service and food offered. I told the unpleasant truth with hesitation but she just said it was exactly what she needed to know and welcome. I love seeing hotel caring about guests' reaction. The second time was near midnight. We just felt peckish, wanted some small bite. The food were good. They are small bites to go with drinks. (I'm too sleepy but they were yummy) Had a very good Virgin Mojito and concluded with cocoa before bed. The waiter was adorable, sadly I didn't take the name. It was a very busy night and he was jolly, warm and enthusiastic, fun, and take his time to making sure we were properly served and have plenty to enjoy ourselves. Plus, there is a little bell you can ring for attention. I'll give Withdrawing room another try I think next time.

Afternoon tea is a quintessential British experience, and The Lanesborough is an exquisite location for it. We chose to have our afternoon tea in The Withdrawing Room, and were delighted with our setting. My choice of tea, Afternoon Tea, was delicious - light, a bit fruity, very subtle -- one of the best teas I have tasted. And the sandwiches, scones and sweets were perfection. I would like to particularly commend our server, FIORE, who was the consummate professional --- courteous and attentive. The price is a bit high - we paid over 100 pounds for two -- but one needs to consider this as a very special experience in an equally singular location. I would return in a heartbeat, and recommend it wholeheartedly. Enjoy.

Came to the Lanesborough for afternoon tea for my wedding anniversay as have eaten/visited bar many, many times and love this hotel. However, I left feeling disappointed. We booked for 3.30 pm and arrived on time. I had emailed in advance as had a special offer code from Conde Nast magazine and also mentioned that I was vegetarian and could they adjust some of the sandwiches. We arrived on time and were offrered a glass of champagne. Nothing was mentined about my special request so I asked for veggie sandwiches which were duly delivered after about 10 mins. We ate our small half dozen finger sandwiches and waited 45 minutes and still no cakes. i had to ask for them. There were many staff but they were not allocated to an area so we had 3 or 4 different staff serving us. We had been there for over an hour before we got our cakes and had to ask for refills of tea/coffee. When we came to pay, they had no record of my special offer which was 15% off so they just took the 15% service charge off the bill. This did not equate to the correct amount but I did not want to make a fuss so just paid the bill and left feeling deflated when it should have been a great experience,
Be the first to ReplyOpulent Withdrawing Room excellent for afternoon lunch/tea
Exquisite dรฉcor and excellent service in Withdrawing Room at Lanesborough hotel in London. Worthy of a visit for afternoon lunch, teas, or evening drinks. Even better - stay at hotel as we recently did for 5 nights, best hotel ever!!!! Library Bar connects to Withdrawing Room which is also a must visit, just as opulent with equally great service!
Be the first to ReplyHave a cup of tea in the Withdrawing Room!
What a friendly welcoming place. All credit to the wonderful doorman Dominic who took us under his wing and gave us some happy memories. We had a cup of tea out of a beautiful silver tea service for a very reasonable price in the Withdrawing Room/Library Lounge. All the staff are professional but make you feel so welcome. Highly recommend.

My sons and I took my wife here for Afternoon Tea in The Withdrawing Room which in my opinion is better than the Celeste option. The service was very good and they were great with my 2 little boys. We requested a halal option in advance which they catered for and it was very nice touch from The Lanesborough. The selection was very good and always willing to stock up. The tea selection was very good as well. They also have a selection of mocktails which were very good. I would highly recommend a pleasant experience here anytime.

There are places you wished you had a better experience with. Lanesborough was one of those during my previous visit. We went back to give it one more shot, though this time was in the Withdrawing room. While it seemed like there wasn't sufficient staff (there were 2 people serving 2 rooms), this most recent experience was much better. Our food was quite good, service was more than adequate and staff was gracious. Also need to call out that the concierge was great in assisting us with a request even though we weren't staying at the property. Thank you! Glad we went back.

Since the reopening, The Lanesborough had been on my compulsory afternoon tea list and this August we finally managed to go. The Withdrawing Room offers a thoroughly classy and Regency England setting for your sitting, you half expect Emma Woodhouse to walk through the door and sit down at one of the tables. :) Very impressed with everything, the pastries and tea selection in particular. Absolutely lovely service. Look forward to going back and trying it in the Celeste restaurant next time.
