Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice Singapore Reviews from The Last Year
Located in Maxwell Centre, this is a popular hainan chicken
Located in Maxwell Centre, this is a popular hainan chicken rice food stall and you can expect long lines. I was excited to give them a try, but thought it was okay - not the best I've had. The Hainan Chicken rice portion is decent and the flavors were decent. The price is a little more expensive than the other food stalls in the hawker center and there were a bit stingy with the orange sauce. Overall, I was glad to give them a try, but I've had better Hainan Chicken Rice. Therefore, they're not a spot I would need to revisit.
I got to the stall just before noon and queued for a few
I got to the stall just before noon and queued for a few minutes (definitely get there early, as the queue doubled by the time I was done). The chicken rice was simple but so well-made. The rice had lots of flavor and wasn't overcooked, and the chicken was also pretty juicy (watch out for the bones though). Seating can be hard to find in this center, as a heads up.
Melt in your mouth @ Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice
When we planned our trip to Singapore, Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice was at the top of our must-visit list. This restaurant is extremely famous among travelers who visit Singapore, being awarded a Michelin star for its Chicken Rice. We were really excited to taste their recipes. Upon arrival at the Maxwell Food Centre, where many restaurants are located, we found a very long line. In our opinion, Tian Tian is the most popular in the food center, judging from the waiting time, which was around 30 minutes or more, while other restaurants had almost no line or very short waits. After tasting the Classic Steamed Chicken Rice, we could understand why it's so popular. The chicken was incredibly tender, almost melting in our mouths. Although the sauce wasn't particularly outstanding, overall, we could say that it was worth the wait for such delicious chicken rice. As a result, we successfully completed our mission to try the famous Michelin-starred chicken rice in Singapore.
Hainanese chicken rice here is legit.
There's always a line but it goes pretty quickly, and the ambiance is entirely appropriate for a hawker centre. They have competitors just a few stalls down but Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice clearly gets all the attention. If you're not coming often go splurge on the large, it's not that much more.
Best hawker chicken rice in SG
Always. Always. Expect a line here. There’s a reason for that and it’s because they make great Hainan chicken rice here. The rice and the chicken are cooked very well. The skin on the chicken is pumpkin and silky.
I don’t see what the big deal is
I don’t understand why this place gets a Michelin star. The rice is good, but not amazing. The chicken is moist but is served cold(I didn’t know this ahead of time). I was not a fan of the cold chicken. They don’t give you enough sauce either. This place doesn’t live up to its reputation. There is a long line to get your food. Find elsewhere!
Hainanese Chicken
It is such a highly rated place we wanted to go. It was good. But was it worth that queue? I am not sure. The system in place to get your order is very efficient and it was great, but I am sure some of the other stalls in there must sell Hainanese chicken that is just as good!
Good volume for money. Standard tastes of Hainanese chicken
Good volume for money. Standard tastes of Hainanese chicken (boiled in salted water; served with sweet soy sauce dressing). Not a cozy dinning environment, especially in the tropic weather, but good for you to experience Asian-style food court.
The rice was great with no faults to it.
Each rice grain was distinct and not clumped up or over cooked giving it an al diente feel. It was towards the slightly oily side yet, I wouldn't change anything. The chicken was extremely juicy and tender, also perfect. As for the condiments, the chilli was great, packed a punch and leaves your lips burning but the soya sauce was very average (but still it doesn't feel like it brings the dish down). I have tried almost every main chicken rice place in Singapore I have come back here several times because this is one of the best.
It is a must visit place, and I order the basic disk.
I love their sauce, but the rice didn't taste any different than other. The chicken meat was smooth and clean. The line was long depending on the time on that day. The size of the disk is small comparing to American style of small. However, you don't want to order to big. So, you can try other disk. Overall good experience and taste. So, is it the best Hainanese chicken rice? Not for me. You can try and see thing go with your taste.
Here's a tip! Go mid-afternoon!
When in Singapore, one must have chicken & rice! But where to go? There are so many options and so many opinions on such a basic dish. It was utterly confusing! Finally decided on Tian Tian at the Maxwell Food Center given its Michelin rating plus I'm a fan of Anthony Bourdain. Fortunately we went early afternoon after the lunch rush and waited no more than 10-15 minutes to order and get our food. The chicken was moist and silky and the rice was very flavorful. I found it quite satisfying! I only wish I had a chance to try chicken rice from another stand for comparison's sake, but there was too much other food to try during my short time in Singapore!
good food
There is a lot of hype to the place but I thought it was a good plate of food. Soft juicy chicken and flavorful rice. Got in line at 1115 on a Tuesday and it took 20 minutes to get the food. The line looked long but moved quickly. I don't know if there is a big difference between good and great chicken rice but this place has been crushing it for years and it ain't all tourist business which tells me it is pretty darn good.
It's strictly ok to me I understand.
.. this is nostalgic for people in singapore. But for me, this was basic and didn't have much redeeming value. Did a side by side of tian tian and ah tai hainanese chicken. I'm going to copy and paste this same review for Tian tian and ah tai. Tian tian: long wait (this is where the out the door line is). It moves fast but you also have to be pushy. The sauce had move flavor, and the chicken was more tender. Everything else was the same Ah tai: shorter wait, nicer people. The broth they added on the side was delicious. The chicken itself had more ginger flavor and was still very tender and moist. If I had my choice, I'd go be to ah tai because the broth is an added bonus, and the line is shorter.
First time eating Tian Tian at Maxwell Center.
There was a long line but it moves very fast. It was good but we can get the same in SF. Can't beat the price, but SF has great food too. Fun to go there especially for the price.
Chicken rice (m): Oo this was goood.
The rice is fragrant with a slight coconut flavor. The chicken is so juicy and flavorful. The sauce on top adds to the chicken flavor. The orange sauce was coconutty and refreshing but also spicy. One issue was mine had a lot of bones though. 4.5/5
The chicken was undercooked, with a raw taste, and several
The chicken was undercooked, with a raw taste, and several parts had blood. It was a disappointing experience. The service ladies are rude.
NEVER EVER GO BACK AGAIN
Wanted to eat at Ah Tai 2 stalls away but they were closed as the cook was injured. Tried Tian Tian next door and truly regretted. Attitude of their staff was very poor. Additionally, they don't serve soup, ginger and dark soya sauce. They also refused to give more chili sauce even though my order was SGD35. What kind of Singapore chicken rice store is this? Being a Singaporean, I am ashamed of the overall proposition. VERY SAD INDEED AND NEVER GO BACK.
The hype is real.
I finally got to try this popular Hainanese chicken and rice place back in November 2023. I was also here in February 2018, but the stall was closed during my visit that time - probably because of Chinese New Year celebration and I don't know TBH. We got and shared the medium sized chicken and rice dish. The chicken was moist and juicy. The rice was flavorful and perfectly cooked. The food was so delicious. Btw, this place is cash only. I'll make sure that we'll come back again one day during our visit to Singapore.
Really good chicken and rice.
I had a medium (S$6) and also got the liver and gizzards. The liver is like the chicken, moist and silky, and a bit bland. The gizzards were too crunch for my taste. Everyone needs to eat chicken rice while in Singapore, and this is the place to do it.
I am not usually a fan of Hainanese Chicken dish but this
I am not usually a fan of Hainanese Chicken dish but this was so good! I would recommend trying it. The chicken was juicy, the sauce was flavorful without being over powering. If you like to eat spicy, ask for an additional hot sauce container. One of the best dish I ate in Singapore. We heard the line can get long but we got lucky and didnt have to wait for more than 10 mins
This place is a very well-known Hainanese Chicken Rice
This place is a very well-known Hainanese Chicken Rice place, there are probably several really good places to get that in Singapore and at different Hawker Centers, but my wife and I decided to go with the well known one, which had a long line but the line moved quickly. We split one medium chicken rice, because there's plenty of food places in the hawker center and we didn't want to get full off of one item. We ordered a medium chicken rice and plate of veggies, all for a fraction of what we pay for back home in California. There was plenty of seating in the food center, you need to bus your own trays.
Avoid lunch hour for long queues
Their hainanese chicken rice is absolutely great. The chicken and its broth mixed with the rice are great combination.
Over hyped, there’s better experience elsewhere
The food is all right, not super. They seem to be hurrying customers along, so you do not get to customise the sauces you want. Other stalls will allow you to take, in addition to chilli sauce, dark soy sauce and ginger sauce. However here there was only chilli sauce. The service was rather cold. Price of $6 is rather expensive for chicken rice. Can get a better deal elsewhere.

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it? |
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid? |
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted. |
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from? |
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered? |
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.

Hi Community,
I am new to this site and just recently bought a reservation here. I noticed that on the reservation page, it is booked under a random name and a virtual email address.
I can't find any button to change either the name or the email for this reservation I bought. So, should I just say that random name when I arrived at the restaurant? Not really sure about the procedures.
