You'll be able to enjoy this better when you don't think of this as a traditional dim sum place.They have a super small menu. The standouts include the BBQ pork buns, the sticky rice in lotus leaf, the turnip cake and, to our group's surprise, the steamed egg cake. We also liked their bean curd rolls and green tea sesame balls, but not so much the more traditional dim sum dishes, such as har gow, siu mai, and the various rice rolls -- we knew people don't think highly of those at this place, but still had to find out for ourselves.

Everything was above standard, shy of exceptional. Sadly, this is no longer the case. I had spare ribs, chicken feet, bean curd stuffing, shrimp steam roll, and coconut cream with taro. Overall, I have to say it's pretty underwhelming. I could have the dim sums elsewhere with better quality. Gone was past excellence, once a prestigious restaurant now a run of mill franchise brand.

Their hot tea was outstanding.Spare ribs was solid! Delish.Their chicken pot stickers seriously hit it out of the park! We got two orders.Shrimp and chive dumplings were good. Sui mai was tasty.Mushroom dumpling was yum.The rice roll was great too.Pan fried noodles were kinda dry but super tasty, great texture.We also had some kind of taro coconut tapioca warm dessert.It was so awesome. Not sure why the location in SoCal (Irvine, CA is so bad).This is a mystery of life.I would want to return to NYC just to eat here!

Second time at Tim Ho Wan in NYC and it satisfied all the dumpling cravings. We loved getting the Siu Mai and Rice Rolls again, hence the already-eaten pieces in the photos. The place was packed but had no line on a Thursday evening. We put ourselves on the Yelp Waitlist on our way over, but were already first within 5 minutes.

Super authentic, great service, just a great place! They bring your dish as soon as it is ready so they might be staggered a little. My friend and I went, we kept wanting to try different dishes we practically has constant food being placed and taken off the table. Definitely a must try!

With one vegetarian in our group they really made it easy to identify options and announce them as each item was brought over. We usually don't go for desserts at Asian places but we tried some of the offerings (Green Tea Sesame Balls) and loved them! I didn't love the BBQ pork buns but the Steamed Dumplings were excellent.

Let's start from the beginning. Upon entry, we were seated right away - a group of 3. That was good. Checked off the pink slip boxes of food. Things came to the table one by one. Pork buns - as expected sweet and crispy. Excellent Congee - first time trying authentic congee. AmazingRice rolls - not enough filling. Alright Chicken ginger - punches you with ginger Steamed beef meatballs with tofu skin - uhmmmmm why was it jelly like and really pinkDessert - the flower jelly - tasted like sugar jellyCalled for refill of water twice. Never got it. I've waited so long to try this place ever since I saw the youtube with Fung bros filming interviews here with Ronny Cheing, the cast of Crazy Rich Asians, even Hot Ones ate here. Sadly I expected too much. It's a standard dimsum place. Wouldn't come back.

It is simply beyond comprehension that this place does not have 5 stars. There are so many things this place does right.As a favor to humanity, I'll list them.1- non-alcoholic drinks2- a wide variety of dishes in small sizes so you can taste many different things3- amazing rice noodles4- a menu you just check off what you want with a pencil, eliminating the need to talk to annoying humans or wait for your dining companion to spit out their order after you've been waiting 45 minutes5- Cleanliness6- Perfectly professional and kind waitstaff7- causal, no frill decor that doesn't try to distract you from the food8- an excellent location in the city for entertaining out of town guests9- usually a short wait because it's good, popular place but not so long a wait you start looking at your friends wondering how well they'd pair with soy sauce10- clean bathroomNeed I go on?

We were here for the second time and I must say that the food was not as good as the first time I was there. What particularly disappointed me was that the congee was barely above lukewarm. Now, I am easy to please, palate wise, but were they scraping the last congee off the pot? Service was quick though and we were seated after a short wait.

I had the chance to enjoy Tim Ho Wan in Hong Kong and Singapore, but the NYC franchise was a real disappointment. No way, this branch is one of the 1 Michelin stars awarded this franchise has been known for. The signature dish, the famous BBQ BUN was nothing like the original offer, back in Asia (the crust was too thick and the filling so tasteless). The Dumplings were dry and soggy. Fellow New Yorkers, if you have the chance to travel to Asia, please taste THW locally; a totally different experience, Guaranteed! The Congee was delicious, but how bad can you be to mess up this simple dish. Din Thai Fung, the main competitor, and master of dim sum consistency, must be rubbing their hands!

Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!

Best Answer It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

Best Answer Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.

Best Answer Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.

Best Answer Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

What happens if my bid expires unanswered?

Best Answer Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
