Steak Oscar the Forgotten Classic
My wife and I have enjoyed Todd’s Unique Dining since about 2012. We often dined at Todd’s on Valentine’s Day and other times as well. Valentine’s Day is also our anniversary. We have enjoyed chef’s excellent food, excellent service from staff, and the non-strip price point for fine dining. The wine list is accessible and not offputtingly pretentious. That is why it pains me to write this less than stellar review of our recent 2023 Valentine dinner. I should mention here that our last visit to Todd’s was pre-COVID 2020. Needless to say, we are well aware of the COVID induced devastation to the economy and in particular the restaurant business. Not an easy or especially profitable business in this new normal. However, with that said, and taking into account the events of the intervening years between our last visit and now I must say we were woefully disappointed with some aspects of the food portion of our dining experience. It is sometimes said that Steak Oscar is a forgotten classic. Based on my order of Petite Filet and King Crab Oscar (a Valentine Special) it has not been found by Todd’s. While the two medallions were cooked to my specification of medium the Oscar part was barely to be found. Not only was the microscopic portion of crab more machine shredded than chunked I could detect no Hollandaise or Bearnaise sauce. As well the two filet medallions while well crusted were without seasoning and consequently rather tasteless. The accompanying whipped potato and vegetables were no more memorable than the meat. Our shared house salad was nicely chilled but seemed to us more bag lettuce than farm to table. As a counterpoint, my wife’s Chilean Seabass was cooked to her exact instruction and we both found it to be tasty and ample in portion. However, her accompaniments were as uninspired as mine. Over the last couple of years’, we have fallen out of the habit of dining out. Unfortunately, our Todd’s Valentine experience did nothing to reverse that trend.

Staying in Henderson/green valley for AM flight. Looking for light dinner and good wine. Todd’s is the answer. Excellent apps/salads and main courses. Creative chef. Calm ambience. Solid wine list at very reasonable prices with additional special bottles. Terri was exceptional waitress. All wait staff were thoughtful and respectful. Small but meaningful to me as I watched wait staff….all wine glasses were polished and visualized before returning clean glasses to racks. Price points on food and wine were more than reasonable. Delicious food. Friendly service. Convenient for near airport stays. Will return. Will recommend to friends who own restaurants. If you’re a local …a must for monthly wine pairing Dinners.

We went there for Thanksgiving dinner & it was average at best. My hubby had the steak which was good & I had the turkey dinner which was disappointing - no flavour & too much salt & pepper - as a result I couldn’t eat it all. The dessert was the best part of the dinner. Overall though I won’t recommend this place.
Be the first to ReplyNice Find in Henderson
The decor is nice and the dining room is quiet. Service is good. You'd never see this place from the street, we were happy to find it, and close to our hotel. We enjoyed it so much that we returned the 2nd night and sat at the bar for lighter fare. Jason is the bartender and serves tables as well and is personable and attentive. Salads excellent. Meatloaf and short ribs as well.

So to be fair, maybe duirng the virus it's different at this restaurant from normal?? First, the name led me to belive this was a fine dinning establishment including decor and 5 star service. That is not what we found. We were the best dressed there as this place reminded us of a casual cafe, nothing fine or elegant about it. Ok, so the food came. We had the scallops and steak. Both were ok, but not memorable. I was sadden by the wine list, in general, but they had one decent wine from Paso Robles, a Cabernet too heavy for summer but I had it anyway because I knew I would enjoy it. Service was ok, not what I expected. All in all, not sure I will return, there are true fine dinning experiences in Las Vegas where the atmosphere, food and service come together for a truely memorable evening.

Have driven by this place for years. Decided it was time to go in and try it. Service was very good, but the food was out of this world. Crab cake was so good, the salads were huge, the homemade bread was warm and soft. My halibut was cooked to perfection as was the filet. The star of the dinner was the snickerdoodle bread pudding. Can't wait to go back...

My husband and I were really looking forward to eating here. We had heard so many raves and positive reviews. The actual space is super lovely and quiet and the staff is amazing. Drinks are top-notch, with plenty of offerings. I enjoyed the Toddfather and my husband had something with blackberry.
Unfortunately, now we are getting to the food. The food was OK. My husband liked his tilapia, but he indicated that it was hardly worth the price. Furthermore, Todd's claims to be vegetarian-friendly, when in reality, there are no up-front menu items for us aside from soups and salad. They are quite kind in providing verbal options and the idea of a variety of veggie sides piqued my interest. But when my "veggie bento box" arrived, it left much to be desired. It was hardly anything special. And $19.
I feel ecstatic to report, however, that dessert was amazing. We had a peach cobbler and tiramisu that were both superb.
I am just painfully let down by the overall experience.
Wonderful experience
My husband and I were visiting our daughter and son-in-law for the holiday. We went to Todd"s on Saturday night. Nice atmosphere. Our server was Terry (Todd's wife). She is delightful. Enjoyed hearing how they met. The menu was small but great selections to choose from. All four of us were pleased with our selections except my husband's fish was a little overcooked. Wonderful salads, crispy brussel sprouts, tasty soup, and lots of vegetables. So glad we tried this charming restaurant.

Ill start w dessert, cut it in 1/2 & its cold inside & icy, bread was cold & seemed like generic cheap walmart rolls, my filet ($57)way undercooked, crab cakes smelled fishy, decor is prob 20 years old, booths are so uncomfortable- they push you forward so you cant sit comfortably. We spent $200 & tbh it was just not good. I was so excited as we usually go to Sonoma Cellar & wanted a change . Im so sorry but it seemed like Dennys at best. I wish i could give a great review but Id be fibbing. Priced way too high, needs a remodel & cold rolls that taste stale are unacceptable
Be the first to ReplyI was looking for a neighborhood gem this isn’t it
I do like the cozy booths that they have in this place my first sign of what was to come was that my napkin had stains on it I swapped it with another one at a different table. Then when my main course was brought out I had no fork and the person didn’t check so I grabbed a fork from a neighboring table. Then I ordered an incredibly expensive $44 filet mignon steak and I ordered it medium. This is the furthest off I have ever had somebody make a steak mine was completely rare but I was late for a show and didn’t have time to full around and I just ate it. The prices were high and it just didn’t match the quality of what you would expect for that price not even close. This was my first and last time to go to this place
Be the first to ReplyFine Dining at Reasonable Prices Are Off the Strip!
I had read about Todd's Unique Dining for quite some time and thought that we would give it a try. Here is an opportunity to escape the frenzied madness of The Strip. It is out East Sunrise in Henderson nestled in a shopping complex. Todd is the chef who has operated this restaurant for the past 15 years. It is a casual, quiet place with attentive service and a small ups-scale menu of very good food that evolves from week-to-week. Server was friendly and efficient. This is a small place with intimate booths. From appetizers to desserts food was very good (not splendid, but very good and ample). Prices are quite reasonable.
