I love the steak here.
Overall it is a really nice venue with excellent service, a good atmosphere, interesting drinks and fantastic food.

Situated in Mayfair, this restaurant from the outside looks quite high-end yet subtle. It claims to be the best wagyu beef in town. The food is decent however it is not as good as it claims itself to be. We ordered daily special, a la carte and some sake, the Scottish langoustine sashimi was really good. We also really liked the foie gras over quail. A5 steak tasted a bit too fattening. Also they used a lot of sauce on most courses. Overall, it was a good experience, the manager Mark was very friendly and helpful.

the service is the worst, I ordered the set menu and my boyfriend ordered separately and we asked if we could share and the server said yes. However ,they cooked all our courses together and let us ate them together with all courses at the same time. I have been to so many Japanese restaurants before and this is the first time I have to eat the set menu together at the same time. The server said she misunderstood my request of share together and she also felt wired but she never confirmed with us. However the truth is, she never waited me to finish my order and thought she already understand what I mean and left. So I asked if she could do sth at least put some courses back and she said it's her mistakes but she can do nothing about it. It's my birthday that day and I feel like I spent 230 pounds eating fast food. You should never choose this restaurant if you wish to have a good service.

The environment was gorgeous, certainly with the price to it and service is there and I believe the people working there are all very happy. To the food, the wagyu beef was amazing and the tenderness and flavour is really something to the next level. And the starters are amazing in presentation and flavour as well. The mustard prawn was just unbelievable! And the salad is really making the whole starter set shine with the beautiful presentation and the flavour you are not expecting but blowing the mind. But the one thing is the sauce. I am not sure if the sauce was even right as some of the sauce used just taste like paint... I was trying to ask but didn't as I thought I might intrude their authenticity... but if anyone more experienced in Japanese sauces, please let me know... it does tastes really bad... I mean really bloody weird...
Be the first to ReplyVery lovely place.
There are bar seats where you can sit and watch all the cooking action, or you could choose to relax on a lovely curved sofa table, which could comfortable fit 4 pax.Staff were incredibly friendly, proper and professional. I liked that I felt super welcomed into this restaurant despite being just a groupon customer. Here's what we ordered:1. Tori Ten Wasabi Mayo - 鶏天山葵マヨ Chicken Tempura with Wasabi Mayonnaise £7.502. Kohitsuji Dengaku - 子羊二種田楽 Char-grilled Lamb (2pc) with 2 styles of Miso £123. Pork Rib Shiokoji-yaki - ベビーポークリブ塩麹焼き Marinated and Char-grilled Baby Pork Ribs £124. Salmon Teriyaki - サーモン照り焼き Scottish Salmon in Teriyaki Sauce £9.505. Shiba-Ebi Kara-age - 芝海老から揚げ Fried Portuguese Rose Shrimp with Lemon £136. Yaki-Shiitake - 焼き椎茸 Char-grilled Shiitake in Yuzu Ponzu £57. Sparkling sake £35 bottomless8. Special cocktail - Mix of apricot infused brandy, Hendrix, ginger ale, Italian aperitif, decorated with passion fruit, slice of ginger and maraschino cherry.Basically everything we ordered is highly recommended, but I'd skip the Shitake mushrooms. Not that it wasn't good, but I'd swap that for an Octopus if I wasn't allergic to them. You guys need to try the special cocktail. Don't think it has a name, but it's like a light negroni. It came served with some light snacks, fried radish and sweet potato.Check out their Sunday Robata Brunch, starts from 2pm onwards. This is a lovely place to bring your other half for a special day out. A little pricey but totally worth it.

The place used to be Sakura and where they gave did well to transfer the downstairs to a beautiful grand golden looking place with its bar seating, dark red leather seats and dangling gold lights, they left the upstairs pretty much the same with its more neutral colours. Such a shame as I'm sure those who are pit upstairs feel they are missing out like we did.Tokimeite has now started to offer a Sunday Robata brunch and from that specific menu we ordered the following:Lettuce salad with a sesame cheese sauceI expected a much better choice of lettuce that the iceberg. It wasn't exactly the sweetness or the leafiness of cuts. The sesame cheese sauce was nice as simple as pairing both the blue cheese sauce and sesame sauce together. I did expected more depth and richness from the sesame sauce than the generic sweet kind.Komochi ShishamoChar grilled capelin were grilled to perfection. A surprise in texture by the abundance of eggs keeping the dish plump and moist against the crispy skin.Uzura Kuwayaki Pan fried quail was okay. A nice caramelisation of the teriyaki marinate that flavoured the meat throughout but lacked depth. I found the Bramley a poor match to the tender meat being very grainy in texture. Better were the shishito peppers that added an alternate savoury tone.Ibérico buta kushi yakiNot the most succulent of Ibérico porks but it was tender and carried enough flavour. It was cleverly paired with pineapple to assist it with moisture and sweetness and added a nice zest to it Yaki-imoChar grilled Japanese potato were very disappointing. The potato itself weren't very ripe or just a poor batch. The flesh washard inside almost as if I was eating it raw. It was bland and boring. The mentioned soy caramel was just a few droplets around the dish and wasn't enough to do any favours to the dishHotate Hama-yakiNothing more than two scallops chopped knot tiny pieces and lost in between all the strong zesty flavours of the tomatoes and other vegetables. Very silly to pair it against so many more dominating ingredients. Barely taste the scallops. Wagyu niku makiThis dish definitely stole the show. The wagyu meat was sublime, the most tender and succulent. It was cooked in a lovely rich sweet soy marinate, adding another level of sweetness to it upon it's own. Wrapped inside it was an impressive combination of walnut and sticky rice. It managed to achieve a lovely woodiness against its enticing umami flavours and that's not mentioning the flavours the wagyu injected into it Sushi sandwich- tempura fried nori and sushi rice with:Unagi to avocadoThe least exciting flavours and texture out them all. It wasn't bad but the small cut of eel got lost to the large chunks avocado, so we just got to taste it's sweet soy marinate . Quite standard flavours, simple textures.Zuwaigani to asparagus Brought more excitement. Love the contrast of the fried seaweed against the springy and juicy snow crab strands before hitting the crunchy asparagus. The freshness of the crab helped maintain its sweetness with the touch of yuzu gave it a beautiful touch of zestiness to help lift it's flavour. Salmon tartare Again I thought the contrast of having something deep fried with something raw like salmon was very cool. As the nori was so light it added a nice crispiness to it before melting away with the batter and adding lovely notes of unami to the dish. Lovely sticky al dente rice to accompany it. Kohitsuji dengakuProbably the best dish out of the robata dishes. Young quality lamb chops cooked beautifully, keeping it succulent and so tender. Complementing its umami flavours was a marinade of spinach and basil and the other, white miso. The white miso gave it a boost of a rich complex savoury whilst leaving a sweet subtle edge to it whereas the spinach and basil added some creamy earthy flavours to it, making it quite refreshing against the heavier meat.Tokimeite felt like a mix bag. We started off quite poorly but ended on many good dishes. But for the price you're paying I expect more as if you minus the bad dishes you're left with less than half of the stuff on the menu. With so many excellent modern Japanese places in London I will give this one a miss next time.
Be the first to ReplyMy boyfriend and I had a fairly enjoyable meal at Tokimeite
My boyfriend and I had a fairly enjoyable meal at Tokimeite for our second anniversary. However, it's so expensive that I expected something more from it. Starting with the ambiance - it's a nice enough atmosphere, with a long bar down one end and then a few tables down the other side. Some of the cooking is down down one end of the bar. Strangely, the music seemed to be remixes of pop songs. Having read on their website that they have three different areas in the restaurant, I was somewhat surprised that after finishing our drinks we were seated at a table next to the bar. It's a pleasant bar, and normally I wouldn't think twice about it, but bearing in mind that it's the most expensive meal I've paid for, it felt weirdly informal - definitely not like it was a special occasion. This lack of specialness was underlined by the speed at which the meal came out. I think there's something to be said for having time to savour your food and surroundings, but we were done in barely over an hour. The food was generally good but totally unspectacular. My starter was a scallop with cauliflower puree and wagyu salami (£7), which was probably my favourite of the evening. My boyfriend's starter was fried lotus root (£13), which was not at all crispy and therefore a bit of a stodgy event. We then had prawn tempura (£17 for 5 pieces) and vegetable tempura (£13 for...a pile?). I wasn't particularly impressed with these - would probably give them a miss. Finally, for our main courses, we shared pork belly (£17) and a small portion of wagyu steak (£37). Both of these were fine but forgettable. Drinks-wise, I had two cocktails, both at £15 each. The first was nicer but I can't remember the name! The second was a Rosemary Infusion, which didn't have any flavour other than incredibly sweet. Our bill came to £170, for a meal that lasted about an hour and didn't leave me full or particularly impressed. Most aspects of the experience were pleasant but nothing special. I therefore wouldn't recommend it for special occasions. As others have indicated, there are tasting menus, the cheapest of which is £55. We chose not to go for that (or the £75 or £145 ones) because we aren't sushi fans and although it would have been cheaper, we would have ended up with a few courses we wouldn't have enjoyed. I realise that's the nature of tasting menus! But just clarifying why ours was more expensive than others.
Be the first to ReplyThe food is really amazing.
My favorite is the sukiyaki with wagyu beef. The service is also really good. The staff is really nice and efficient.
Be the first to ReplyRight in the heart of the shopping district on Conduit
Right in the heart of the shopping district on Conduit street just inside of Regent street, is the new Japanese restaurant founded by Yoshihiro Murata, who apparently has 7 Michelin stars across three restaurants in Japan. The ambience is very modern/chic and the staff are very attentive and friendly. They have two drinks menu which was a bit confusing, so ask if you don't see the cocktails list. With the four of us we went for two of the £55 tasting menu and shared a few other starters. The tasting menu is definitely worth it,with a whole variety of wagyu beef tar tar for starters, sashimi, mackerel to seared wagyu beef steak and grilled salmon for main including sushi and desserts to finish it up. The desserts were so cute and tasty, I would definitely recommend the matcha panna cotta. It ended up being just over £60 per person so it's on the steeper end but it was worth it!
