I have sat at the tables many times and had great service , I recently sat at the bar for a light meal and a drink with a friend ... (didn't want to but there were no tables available) and the bartenders seemed to be bothered by us like they were expecting us to drink it up . We only had a drink each since we are not big drinkers . They were not welcoming at all. It was a blonde lady and a dark haired man .
Be the first to ReplyI love this place.
It's a beautiful lounge vibe but you can also dine in with friends or go to the bar alone for a drink and some food. The service is exceptional as well even when they're busy.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food.
Great service. Peking Duck was amazing and tasty and big order. Can't wait to go back.

The food was delicious and you can tell they were prepared with quality ingredients. I had the short ribs, which were tender and it was accompanied with noodles that had a peanut sauce. The peanut sauce was subtle and not over powering. The service was efficient and our waiter was very attentive, while making suggestions on what we should have. This is nice restaurant, which is on the upscale side. There is place to eat outside and the decor is inviting.

The bartender with the bruise on his neck was an asshole to me I didn't tip him! I have spent thousands of dollars in there. He is rude and tried kicking me out cause I was talking to much I will never go back again!

Food is very mediocre it is no where near the quality of an omakase spot anywhere. On par with your local japanese spot with nicer plating. Service was snobby and ambiance is of course very nice. You're paying for name and ambiance not the food.

Very amazing place to dine with the family will be back soon! Thank you for the great food and service!
Be the first to ReplyWent last night for drinks here .
..The ambiance and the overall vibe of the place is nice and cozy but the service is very slow .... me and my friend came in around 9:30pm and told the hostess to put our name down for a table . She said it would be an hour wait. It was 11pm and we didn't receive a text that a table was ready or available ... ended up meeting people near the bar area who were nice enough to share a chair with us so we could sit down ..Very uncomfortable to be standing the entire night and not be able to sit and relax ...the place is small they need to expand or add more chairs / tables- also bus boys should be coming around more frequently and wipe tables down and remove empty glasses - I felt at times tables weren't clean enough and things were just on the floor like food and napkins- there should be regular cleaning ... would I recommend this place ? Ehhh maybe for an early happy hour
Be the first to ReplyI love the food at Toku, yes the restaurant is overpriced
I love the food at Toku, yes the restaurant is overpriced and probably over hyped but the ambiance is beautiful. Perfect spot for a date night or small group dinner. I've been to this restaurant more times than I can count. Unfortunately during my last visit we had the worst service, asked for the manager and he was extremely rude and unprofessional. Based on other reviews I can see this is a reoccurring situation. Very disappointed in the Poll restaurant group whose restaurants I frequent on a regular basis. Toku is not up to par.
Be the first to ReplyHands down one of the best Restaurnt to eat at.
Make sure you make a reservation because you will need to wait if you don't. Other than that the food and service is amazing
Be the first to ReplyGreat night at Toku.
Besides bringing takeout for dinner a couple of times been missing this spot. Friday night was a great vibe. Restaurant was busy and bar was packed. After a great martini at the bar or table was ready. Really enjoyed tuna pizza and miso cod.

I came here for the first time several years ago and loved the service and food. My friends and I came here often to celebrate our birthdays and were always seated in the back private dining area. I recently came back to introduce a few of my favorite dishes to my friends.I would recommend the rock shrimp and edamame dumplings. Everything else was too salty. Note that this restaurant is not really an authentic Japanese / Asian fusion restaurant and prices are a lot more expensive. They served bibimbap but did not know what was gochujang... for a place that serves asian food I would assume that its servers knew the different sauces that go with the dish. I was embarrassed to have brought my friends here cause it did not live up to our expectations.
Be the first to ReplyHonestly - food is sub par but the ambiance and experience
Honestly - food is sub par but the ambiance and experience is worth checking out at least once. We tried it all but the must have are the lobster risotto and filet of beef - neither Asian but very delicious. The tuna pizza was good as well with the truffle oil. The pork in the fried rice tasted old but the rice itself wasn't too bad. The Kobe and wagyu dishes were gamey which should not be for these kinds of meat, totally not worth it. The restaurant was nicely decorated and the staff was very attentive. I think for an Asian-inspired, American restaurant - they did good and it was a complete full house. If you want real Asian food, just go to flushing :)
Be the first to ReplyA very cold, unwelcome environment thanks to the employees.
Tonight was my first visit and simply did not know where the exact location was in the plaza, they rudely answer the phone to only place you on hold for too long.. instead of allowing a customer with a reservation to ask a quick question that takes 5 seconds to answer. I kept calling and calling, and a "manager" was the one treating customers like that how disappointing. I had to complain to their general manager as well, its called manners. No point in spending money at a supposedly "uspcale" restaurant where they make you feel unwelcome and they could care less, even to answer a 5 second question. No thanks, not again.

Loud and crowded always, but consistent reliable food and stiff drinks. Crowd and location can't be beaten. Just don't go there in a Honda, you will be amongst Bentleys range rovers and teslas.
Be the first to Replyamazing service and food.
the one thing i do like about this restaurant is you can order what's not on the menu. the drinks is on point. the first time we came here as a family and the second time my wife and i decided to have lunch and it was totally worth it. definitely a go to spot now!!! took care of our waiter he was satisfied
Be the first to ReplyThis place was recommended by a friend and I have to say it
This place was recommended by a friend and I have to say it was a hit. Given their 3.5 star review you would think service or the food was bad but that wasn't the case. Our appetizer, drinks and dinner was all great came out in a timely fashion and the service matched it. They didn't check in too much or too little it was just right. The reason for my 4 star is due to the lack of vegetarian or pescatarian options for the soups and the Price is a little high but again is worth it. I would definitely come back to try something else on the menu and hopefully by then they'll have a soup option for someone like me :)
Be the first to ReplyThe food was good.
The hibachi chef was very nice. The reason why I gave it a 4 stars is because they're very packed and low staffed.
Be the first to ReplyVisited this restaurant on Saturday.
Arrived at 7 o'clock for a 7 o'clock reservation. After waiting over one hour for our table we were finally "seated". There were four of us and only two chairs at the table, it took about five minutes for more chairs to arrive from outside. There were not enough chairs to accommodate the amount of reservations they took? When asking for help the manager laughed in my face while my friends were standing in the middle of an overcrowded restaurant. Apparently Covid it does not exist at this place. More than half of the workers were not in a mask and none of the customers were either. I guess they have an IN with the health department. I could have eaten off the plate of the person next to me because we were shoulder to shoulder. The food is completely overrated and overpriced I had short ribs for dinner, which was more like 3 slices of pot roast with dry sticky noodles I would have been better off getting takeout. At one point we had a friend join us and the maître d' could not have been more rude to her. He had the most horrible attitude and was raising his voice which made us all feel extremely uncomfortable. Our bill was over $500 and these people had no respect or care in the world for how they treat their customers. What an unbelievably horrible experience I will never return and neither will the 4 people I was with.
Be the first to ReplyHonestly I was expecting more from this place.
Location alone led me to believe it was going to be really good but it was was pretty standard. Interior was really nice, classy, upscale Japanese lounge vibes. Plenty of seating, and the place was packed at 12:00 on a weekday. -Lamb Chops: 3/5, these were highly recommended by my friend who had eaten here before so we got them to start. They were good but nothing special at all. Flavorful but also pretty fatty. I probably wouldn't get these again.-Salmon Roll & Tuna Roll: 3/5, two pretty standard rolls but just mediocre compared to your run of the mill sushi spot. The lunch special was way overpriced (on brand for Manhasset) but $34 for 3 sushi rolls you'd get anywhere else for a max of $13 is criminal. Especially when they're nothing to rave about.-Edamame 4/5: you have to try to mess this up. Pretty standard, and a nice portion size.Overall, the experience was good. Am I dying to get back here or shouting from the rooftops that everyone needs to try Toku? No. I probably won't voluntarily come back but nice to know it's there just in case I want to overpay for decent Japanese ;)
Be the first to ReplyIf it weren't for the prime location, I doubt this place
If it weren't for the prime location, I doubt this place would get much traffic for business. Nothing is authentically Japanese including the executive chef. The sashimi is fresh and they likely washed the salmon roe a few times to reduce the saltiness until it was sweeter, but nothing is special about their omakase. Plus, it's almost blasphemy to call rock shrimp with a creamy spicy sauce "tempura". The staff was helpful with recommendations and seating upon request, but the menu wasn't as appetizing in light of its Japanese name and fancy decor. Skewered meat was too large to be bite sized such that you need a knife to cut the duck or chicken, which were either dry or over cooked. Overall, I wouldn't come back for $$ especially not at $$$$. They're charging as much as the high-end stores for food that lacks the artistry, flavor or branding to warrant the price.
