Date night Italian
Wonderful date night Italian. Lasagna was superb as was the raviolis. Warm and friendly on a rainy night. Reservations are accepted. Normally a good place to see the water, but too wet and windy when we were there. Something for everyone.

I loved every single thing about this beautiful restaurant. FABULOUS service from every single person (you can tell they love their jobs!) The Spanish octopus starter was out of this world---a cacophony of flavors. The squid among the best I've had. Also, the carefully chosen wine list had some real gems.

The restaurant is situated just across from the beach and there is street parking available. Like everywhere in Santa Barbara, the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. My server had a lot of great suggestions including the pear martini which was really yummy. I opted for the scallops to start which were served with pureed butternut squash and bok choy, an interesting combo that surprisingly works well. Next was a half order of rigatoni pasta. The pasta is prepares with a tomato sauce that has a little spicy kick, house made sausage and fresh grated parmesan cheese. For the main entree. I had the halibut special served with potatoes and broccolini and ended the evening with the warm chocolate lave cake. Grateful for the left overs the next day!

The decor is lovely, service friendly and food reasonably priced but only so-so. Some dishes sparkled like the squash blossoms while others were satisfactory but nothing extraordinary. Not sure how often the menu changes.

So glad we found this restaurant. The food is stunning and the service is friendly. It was very busy but everyone was treated as a special guest. Will definitely return when we’re in Santa Barbara again.
Be the first to ReplyWarm Atmosphere, Tantalizing Ravioli and Friendly Staff
Toma had a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, and presented the wine beautifully. Although service was mildly slow, the ambience and welcoming fires on the patio made the wait pleasant and peaceful. I highly recommend the ravioli; every single bite was more delicious than the last, while the San Marzano roasted tomato sauce served as a colorful compliment to the rich and creamy ricotta. Thank you for this exquisite experience!

This was my second visit to Toma’s; last time was way before covid, but so memorable I couldn’t wait to return. It was wonderful again. Be sure to book ahead. It was busy, even on a Monday night. Service was impeccable, attentive but never annoying. Ambiance is intimate and charming. Food was why we came: we shared the gem salad, good size for two and great light dressing. I had shrimp gnocchi, just wow. So many shrimp and gnocchi and sauce were perfection. Hubby had crispy salmon with beans and smoky tomato sauce and lemon alioli. He’s still raving. No room for desert. Meal with wine was pricy, but well worth the splurge.

Recommended by our hotel 2 blocks away. Very good food. Had the sweet potato corn chowder Excellent. My husband had the salmon and I had the tortellini with sausage. Both very very good. Reservations are necessary.
Be the first to ReplyFreezing and didn’t care
Upon arrival we were offered a table for 2 directly in front of the door. I stated to the host that I did not want to sit there because of the cold and draft as I saw others wrapped up in their coats and scarves!!! See photos below ⬇️ I was told that was our only choice. We froze during our entire meal, even requested if the heat could be turned up, which didn’t happen Very uncomfortable way to spend 2 hours
Be the first to ReplyLovely place - unusual twists on traditional dishes
The place itself, the friendly staff and the quality of the food cannot be faulted...but I'm all for places being creative, certainly creating their own dishes, but sometimes the re-imagining of traditional dishes doesn't quite work. Things like the Caprese Salad, adding strawberries and cucumber to the dish, does not work. I can't remember our mains, but I do remember we left a fair bit of each dish, again, because of unusual combinations. Not to our taste, but it's such a highly rated place we are in the minority for sure, everything else was top notch.

The food was decent & we were lucky enough to grab one of the small tables on the sidewalk they have for walk up guests. I HIGHLY recommend reservations well in advance because it’s really hard to get the walk in tables. We just had really good timing! The restaurant is very pretty & the patio street side is quite pretty for what it is.
Be the first to ReplyWe went back 3 days later!
I booked this restaurant after reading reviews on TripAdvisor and it was tiptop. We were very lucky as it was two minutes from our hotel so we returned three days later. Although it’s on the edge off a very busy road it was unnoticeable and did not affect the ambience and setting. The food was wonderful and came at a lovely pace with very friendly service.

Excellent food & service. We were walk-in diners on a busy night so we’re seated at the bar, though with the provision of a place mat (napkin) on which to put cutlery, glasses etc., it felt every bit as cosy as having our own table. Thoroughly enjoyed rack of lamb & lasagne for my wife & I respectively.

Loved this location. What an experience, great atmosphere. Inviting. It was a last minute decision to go here and glad we did. We showed up (party of 2) early. We were seated outdoors and then The staff was very polite and friendly. Great drinks. Tuna cones and octopus wonderful as well. Calamari and flat bread. Finished with panna cotta. It was a lot of food for us but still lovely. We would definitely return. Good value for Santa Barbara.

Stayed at a hotel right down the street and walked by here a couple of time before looking up the place and was lucky enough to get a reservation for the night before we left. The food was amazing. Would highly recommend going here if ever in Santa Barbara.

Expert care from Tom and Jackie. Great wine list. Yummy rigatoni and lasagna. Mira Cabernet went really well with our entrees. Top notch restaurant.

Toma had some of the best Italian food we've ever had! My mom and I had the lasagna and were blown away. It was so delicious with fresh basil on top. My sister enjoyed the ravioli too. The winner of the meal was the Belgian chocolate torte... oh my goodness!!! This was truly one of the best desserts I've EVER had! Absolutely divine! The cocktails are also very good and strong. ;-) This was definitely one of our favorite restaurants in Santa Barbara.

I have been to this place both times I visited Santa Barbara. Stand out dish for me is the stuffed courgette flowers! They are to die for! Lovely setting.

The food was amazing. I had ravioli’s and they were so tasty. Perfect portion for me. My dad had the gnocchi. He said they were the best he’s had. My uncle had the lamb chops and also said they were delicious. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for amazing Italian cuisine.

We had a very enjoyable meal on a busy Saturday night. Make sure you make a reservation. Sit outside if you can. Excellent flatbread, gnocchi and cioppino. Extensive wine menu. Very good service.

Located across from the harbor this restaurant serves wonderful food. Recommend making a reservation as this place is very popular. When you go you will be greeted by Abby, she is friendly and will find you the best available table and if there is anything you need, just ask her. She and the other servers will do their best to accommodate you. The restaurant has outdoor seating as well as in door seating. I will definitely go back next time I am in Santa Barbara.

Super place for dinner on a lovely Spring evening. We ate outside where there were plenty of space heaters. Service and food were of the highest quality. I could not fault anything.
