We chose Truluck's for our wedding dinner after exchanging
We chose Truluck's for our wedding dinner after exchanging our vows during the recent eclipse. Looking for a good seafood restaurant in Dallas we decided on Truluck's and their downtown location. I had noted in the comment box in OpenTable when in made my reservation that it was our wedding dinner. I leave notes in there all the time when I make reservations but I've yet to have anyone acknowledge what I've written. Upon our early arrival we were cheerfully greeted by the hostess and a gentleman dressed in a suit, Brian Perry. I gave him my name and he immediately responded with an enthusiastic "congratulations"! He said he'd have two glasses of champagne brought to our table which promptly arrived right after we sat down. Our server, Laron, was delightful and very attentive. I especially liked their crisp white uniforms and the elegant ambiance of the room with windows running the length and intimate lighting. We had the chilled Stone Crab to share, fabulous! My wife had the stuffed lobster and I the scallops over risotto. Truly one of the best meals I (we) have ever had and the service was on point. Brain stopped by towards the latter end of our meal to check on us and then announced that he was having their baked Alaska brought to the table, on the house! Seriously it might be the best dessert I've ever eaten. Laron brought it to the table, poured brandy over the top, flambéd it and then cleaved the dessert in half and placed it on the table with much fanfare, they even wrote congrats in chocolate on the plate! It was the best possible experience on the most amazing day of our lives. I cannot thank Brian, Laron and all the behind the scenes staff enough that made our dinner so special. Everyone was very friendly and warm. The story isn't over yet though... The next day we were driving back to Santa Fe in horrible weather when my phone rang. I didn't recognize the number and it came up with a Dallas area code but I decided to answer it anyway. It was Brian from Truluck's calling to follow up on our evening and wish us a happy marriage and to thank us for choosing Truluck's as the place to have our special dinner. I have never had someone from a restaurant ever do that and needless to say that was above and beyond, next level customer service. Although we don't travel to Dallas often, I promise I will be back to Truluck's, perhaps on our anniversary! Thank you again!!!

Upon arrival, there is a gentleman that opens the main entry door and gives you a warm welcome inside Truluck's Dallas. After stepping into the restaurant, you're welcomed with even more smiles, not to mention a live musician singing and playing the piano for the bar area guest (also softly heard upstairs). Lights dim throughout the restaurant. You are told to proceed upstairs to take your seats. Once again, another warm smile welcomes you and shows you to your seat. Upstairs, there are nice views. It's not a high rise but pleasant enough. My server for the evening was Eric H. Eric, you can tell is a people's person. His comedic timing is on point, and his knowledge of the menu helped make great dinner choices. Eric H provided information to enhance your entrée choice by adding on scallops or South African Lobster tails, etc. Eric always came to check on me and made sure I did not go without. What I did not expect was the manager, Bob, to continuously make sure ALL customers were ok. I was very impressed. Bob made me feel like a "VIP" member. The busser were great. Politely asked to remove plates, etc. Now to the food. I ordered the Lobster Bisque 10 out of 10. Creamy, savory, nice lobster portions. It's simply amazing. I was going to order the Chillian Seabass, and then Mr Eric recommended the Miso Glazed Seabass. And he was rice. The good thing about the Miso Glazed Seabass is that it comes over rice and Slaw, which is amazing. Seabass was tender well seasoned with a miso glaze on the plate to enhance flavor. Nice portions as well. I gave it a 9 out of 10. To drink, I had an old fashion. Squared rock in glass. Hint of cinnamon and absolutely delicious. 10 out of 10. And to make this even better, the lovely Maggie called me as I'm writing this review to check and make sure my experience was memorable. And indeed it was. I can't wait to go back. On my way back to my hotel, I told my Uber driver that he needed to take his wife there for her birthday, which is today. So look out for them.

Period. That's really all that needs to be said (and you should just trust me), but I'll expound: The food is spectacular. I haven't had stone crabs since I lived in S FL and was thrilled to find them here. And the Baked Alaska is to die for. But, the real reason I'm leaving this review is to give accolades to the staff. Brian Perry-- not sure of his title; manager perhaps?-- went wayyy above and beyond to make our special event extraordinary. So very warm and welcoming. Our server, Laron, was a young man (probably my college kid's age), but SO professional and charming. Even the hostess chatted for a bit with us and was delightful. If you are a server, manager, chef, or aspiring restaurateur, you seriously need to visit this location and take notes. This is how it should be done! And, for what it's worth, many people around us were celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, etc., and there were special touches (rose petals on the table, for instance), but no obnoxious and embarrassing singing by the staff. It felt like everyone here really loved what they did and gave it their all. The bar downstairs is also very cool and has a piano; I assume they have live music occasionally, which would be delightful. If I lived in Dallas, I'd have to re-work my monthly budget so I could visit often. Will definitely return!
Be the first to ReplyMy favorite restaurant ever! The most delicious fine dining
My favorite restaurant ever! The most delicious fine dining experience that never disappoints. The ambiance is always wonderful, along with the staff always being attentive and amazing. Then there's the food, the reason you go. My favorite is always the stone crab! It's delectable and the best thing I've ever had. We also always get the lobster bisque and lobster mashed potatoes. I will say they also have the best shrimp cocktail and crab legs I've ever had in my life, and I'm a seafood lover. Overall amazing and will be back for our celebrations in the future!

We have been wanting to try this Truluck's location for awhile as we often pass it. Upon walking in the ambiance was pleasant and the hostesses were welcoming. We first went to the bar to enjoy some wine and a cocktail before dining upstairs. I felt uninvited by the bartenders that seemed to not want anyone there. The cocktails were perfectly crafted and tasteful! At our reservation time, we were seated upstairs in the main dining area. It was a quite early dinner on Easter, so I am unsure how a regular dinner would be. We started with the tasteful meatballs followed by their delicious special of the evening, a 7oz filet topped lobster tail. The filet was cooked to perfection and the lobster tail was full of flavor and a buttery sauce. We paired it with the lobster mashed potatoes and truffle mushroom risotto. This might be the best risotto I've ever had in Dallas! The server was knowledgeable and helped guide us through our meal along with great wine service. We will most definitely be back.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing food and amazing service! Couldn't recommend more.
The miso seabass and Sonoma salad were my favorite menu items. As well as the carrot cake (not pictured).
Be the first to ReplyIt's a bit pricey, but the food and service are excellent.

Be the first to ReplyA great place for a business lunch.
We were on a pretty tight timeline and the waiter even asked ahead of time if he needed to be aware of any time constraints. The lobster bisque might be the best in town. The Crab Louie salad is fantastic, as is the burger and virtually anything else on the menu. Service was outstanding throughout.

I've dined at the Truluck's in Southlake & I thoroughly enjoyed it but it doesn't have anything on the view that the Uptown Dallas location has! It's breathtaking!! We wrrr seated upstairs in the "Big Deal room" & we felt so exclusive! I treated my partner to Truluck's for his birthday. We ordered the crab cake, Caesar salad, two 8 oz filet mignons, mashed potatoes & I had the African lobster tail. As for drinks, I ordered two Voila's and it was delicious & the presentation was so cool! Everything was phenomenal! I do wish the crab cake was bigger only because it's soooo freaking good! Our server ,Douglas, was the best!! He had a great personality and was extremely knowledgable about the menu!

Really loved this location! We were super sad when the one in San Diego closed down, but we're glad this one is in Dallas. Food is amazing as always, everything was fresh and delicious. Loved that they have a couple of mocktail options on the menu. Host could be friendlier but our server made up for it. Overall great vibe for the dining area. The floor to ceiling windows made for a great view. It was a great bonus there is ton of parking specifically for the restaurant.
Be the first to Reply10/10! Service was great.
Food was impeccable. The ambiance was so gorgeous! Can't wait to come back

Shrimp Cocktail, Crab Cakes, Bruschetta, Lobster Bisque, Filet, Chocolate Cake Love this place! We had our dinner in the same private room as our last visit. Shrimp Cocktail was massive, Crab cakes were excellent. Lobster Bisque had huge chunks of soft Lobster in it. Filet was great. Obsessed with the bread here--so buttery and warm and wonderful. Chocolate cake was decent, a little too sweet for me. Excellent service. Entire parking lot is valet, but there is free 2 hour street parking a block or so over.

Came Monday for my birthday and had a great tasty meal! We split lobster bisque and rolls for an appetizer. The rolls came with a ton and were tasty with the cheese on top! The soup was fantastic I like how they pour it out in front of you so you can see all the lobster in it before. I got the tru love cocktail and the Voila both of which were great! I did like the tru love a bit more flavor wise. My boyfriend got the Smoke in the garden that he enjoyed! For dinner I got the petit miso glazed sea bass! It was the perfect size for me, so tender and tasted amazing with the rice! My boyfriend ordered the sesame seared tuna which was also awesome. Service was great the waiter was incredibly attentive. They placed little stars on the table which I believe signified it was a birthday so every worker that came by wished me happy birthday! Beautiful views of the city with nice ambiance inside. I'd love to come back and sit in the bar area for happy hour! The only downside was the bathroom for the upstairs dinning room was downstairs which was a bit inconvenient. As others have mentioned we got a free baked Alaska for my birthday! They have free valet and a large parking lot so parking was a breeze
Be the first to ReplyYesterday was my king's birthday, so I wanted to take him
Yesterday was my king's birthday, so I wanted to take him somewhere special. Since we love seafood, I surprised him by taking us to try Truluck's for our first time. We stepped inside and was greeted by wonderful hosts and then went upstairs to our booth. The atmosphere is very upscale and fitting for an intimate night of every kind which is always welcoming! We started off with drinks, both of which were amazing! The Parmesan yeast rolls came next and were so buttery and warm! I ordered the miso-glazed sea bass. It is the BEST fish I've ever had, hands down! The crab fried rice was exceptional, and I have zero complaints about it. My partner ordered the blackened red fish and Parmesan mashed potatoes (best mashed potatoes I ever had), and both were great too! The lyonnaise potatoes (prepared with caramelized onions and some kind of mayo) were great! I want more of the mayo they put on top! For the birthday king, they gave us a complimentary Baked Alaska which I really enjoyed (my partner not as much). We then ordered an espresso martini and ice wine, both of which were really good. To end our dinner, we ordered carrot cake and it was absolutely delicious! It is perfectly sweet without being too dense or overwhelming with sugar.Overall, Truluck's has been nothing short of incredible. I am still thinking about our experience from last night, and it is impossible for this to be the last time we come here! We will be back! Thank y'all again so much for helping me celebrate my king!

Be the first to ReplyWe were here for the stone crab.
We ordered large size, the meat was firm and sweet. Highly recommend their miso seabass, it was soooo good and sauce was very unique Service was great, he always checked on us and make sure we have water in the glass and food was good
Be the first to ReplyNow this is definitely a place to dine in romance.
If you're seated upstairs then You'll be surrounded by a sea of windows giving you a view of the uptown area. It's serene and beautiful, especially at night. The service was impeccable and all the staff were very nice and attentive. The food was delicious, albeit a bit pricey which is to be expected at a restaurant like this. I ordered the lobster tail and it was a bit chewy and not as flavorful as I hoped. I did like that it was a good decent size, but I don't think it was worth $115. The mashed potatoes it came with were on the dry side and I was pretty bummed to find out that y'all removed the cauliflower mash from the menu!! The Parmesan yeast rolls were heavenly.... Soooo good!! That's a "must get" appetizer. The crab cake was VERY filling and delicious; it's an appetizer and one cake is enough (the server will ask if you want 2...stick with one). And, if it's your birthday... you'll get this delicious ice cream cake dessert with this marshmallow topping (i forgot the name of it). This specific dessert is not on their menu, but you can still ask for it, it was amazing!! The 2nd best dessert was the carrot cake and then lastly ... the chocolate malt cake (a bit bitter and not as sweet). One thing that's worth mentioning is I found it comforting to hear the server ask if I wanted a "to go" box for my leftovers. You typically aren't asked that in boujee restaurants like this; she removed all awkwardness by broaching the subject first. Loved that!

Our server Josh was definitely on top of things tonight. Gave outstanding recommendations on food and drinks. Highly recommend Trulucks's for for dinner. We celebrated my birthday this evening and everything was delicious. Thank you Josh!

Service was slooooooow and not attentive - for what you pay here, we expected more. Our cocktails that we ordered 30 mins before we got the check arrived once it was signed... food was just fine
Be the first to ReplyWe came here for a birthday and anniversary.
Ordered Florida stone crab, lobster bisque, Alaskan king crab, miso cod with crab fried rice, sesame seared tuna with mashed potatoes, and the chocolate cake. All of it honestly wasn't memorable or worth the money. The horseradish goat cheese in the lobster bisque just didn't go well with the dish, had better lobster bisque at Mastro's, score 5/10. The sesame seared tuna was pretty bland and the mash potato was not even tasty, they need to put some butter on that or make it more flavorful, score 3/10. The crab fried rice was too sweet, they put too much sweet sauce on it, score 3/10. Highlight was the Crab cake it was good, score 7/10. Florida stone crab and Alaskan king crab was good too. Chocolate was like the Costco chocolate cake, nothing special except they pour chocolate sauce on it, too sweet in my opinion. Service was kind of slow, took us 2 hours to finish our meal and a lot of times our water wasn't even filled up. And last, didn't feel like they made it special especially when I told them it's for a birthday. If you want to celebrate a special occasion, don't expect them to make it special here. Come for the seafood and skip the mash potato. Not worth the money.
