Japanese lunch
I went for a business lunch and found many options to choose from. Good quality of sushi, tempura and miso soup. Service was a bit slow, busy day
Be the first to ReplyGreat formula for lunch
This Japanese restaurant provides with a fast, complete and tasty menu especially for lunch. A favourite among people of the neihhbourhood.
Very hygienic too.
Late Choice for Dinner
I've had sushi from Tsushima several times since my work assignment start in July and this is very good and consistent. We had dinner with the sidewalk dining and it's a little tight but it is what it is right now. The wait staff is a little thin and a bit pushy but food is good and reasonably priced. Would like to get rid of the paper plates and bowls but understand that folks are doing what they have to do to make things work. I usually get the two or three roll combination which comes with a small soup and a small (i mean very small) salad. The two roll will sate your appetite and the three roll will fill you up. Rolls are consistently good and service is quick. Take-out is also very well done.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food, but they might attack you if you donโt tip well
The place is excellent and I keep going there. It has an excellent a la carte menu, with lots of fusion and traditional sushi, but also more typical Japanese food which foreigners might be less accustomed too.
Prices are not cheap, but they have a special even for dinner for a very good price which includes several things.
One down side is this it closes rather early for NY standard.
The other down side is that if you donโt tip them in the way they want to be tipped, they will become rude and may even try and stop you from leaving. I went with my family and we gave them a tip which would be considered generous in Europe (not to mention Japan where tipping is offensive). They came back saying it wasnโt enough. We added more and still it wasnโt enough. So if you decide to dine here, be aware that you need to tip generously by US standards....
Love it!
Love it! So glad they are finally delivering! Sushi, sashimi, rolls, eel are fresh and well portioned! Ginger and wasabi are fresh. Comes with miso soup and salad. I order at least twice a week!
Be the first to ReplyBad food, high prices, poor service
I wrote a review about 2 years ago in which I rated both service and prices on the negative side however had found the food to be quite good. Having returned twice in the last few days during this business trip to NYC I can only and unfortunately say that the food has also deteriorated to the point where it is no longer worth eating in this restaurant. Service remains poor and prices bear no relationship to the dispiriting experience. Very unfortunate.
Be the first to ReplyThe restaurant itself seemed
The restaurant itself seemed fine but the food (tempura vegetables) was pretty much flavourless. After reading Tripadvisor reviews I believed that Japanese culture considered it offensive to tip? The staff actually called the rest of my party back to demand a tip so Iโm not sure how much you can rely on general advice? My own culture would consider demanding a tip to be rude. If itโs actually compulsory isnโt it actually a tax?
Be the first to ReplySolid and good value
In this part of town everything seems to be a rip off but Tsushima is holding out with a good sushi lunch for under $20 and you get a wide selection of lunch bento boxes.
