The presentation of dishes are good! Loved all the appetizers we ordered. Only thing is I personally am not a big fan of the pasta, it was a bit salty for me. Other than that it's a great restaurant and worth a try!

I've been wanting to try this place specifically for the Pig Out, and it was everything I envisioned it to be! The place is pretty small so I'd recommend making reservations in advance. They open at 6PM and by the time we finished eating, the restaurant was pretty full. Sadly they don't have a full bar, all their cocktails are soju/wine based, and they have wine, beer and sake. To start we got the Fluke and the Snow Crab Noodle. Both were so flavorful and presentation of everything was beautiful! The complimentary bread balls they gave were so unique as well! Definitely get the Pig Out when coming here. The pork was so crispy on top, and the meat was so tender! It also comes with a peanut butter schezuan noodle as well as a small salad. Definitely keep them in mind for your next date night!

Hands-down was the BEST wagyu beef I've ever had!!!! 5/5 stars on that course- wagyu beef with jus, maitake, and white truffle espuma. The beef was cooked to a perfect medium rare and was so tender you could cut it with a butter knife; the espuma had the perfect texture and was PACKED with flavor. The bread served as an appetizer was fresh and flakey, I really enjoyed it. I also ordered the crispy (fried) deviled eggs with chile- I thought they were OK. Good flavors but the texture of the fried part of the egg just threw me off. For dessert I ordered the Chinese beignets that came with a caramel syrup, ice cream, and yuzu jam- that they insist you make an ice cream sandwich out of.Overall, the food was tasty (the main dish was my absolute favorite), and reasonably priced. The atmosphere was cute, cozy, and very clean, but I found the tables to be too close together (simply separated by a clear divider), not making for much personal space. I would definitely return here- would love to try the snow crab noodles that everyone raves about!

Tuome is definitely one of the most unassuming one-stars
Tuome is definitely one of the most unassuming one-stars I've ever been to. The picture in the guidebook looks pretty ordinary, and the street which the restaurant is located is even less conspicuous... Decided to go on a whim. When we got to the intersection, I looked in the direction of the restaurant and there was no one on the road. Really doubted if the restaurant was located here. It was early workday evening so we got seated without a reservation. Two of us basically ordered everything we wanted; the menu was quite small, I guess I could get through it in two visits. A complimentary appetizer came first. I knew the chef has a Chinese tie, but scallion pancakes, what a surprise! It's nothing special, oily and fragrant, crispy and slightly chewy, like any other scallion pancake, yet it feels so home-coming. The cottage cheese spread on the side...meh...not a good match. Octopus, deep fried and served with potato foam and pork XO sauce. The XO sauce was amazing, it tastes like XO but you know it's not your average XO at all Deviled egg, restaurant's signature, simply a traditional deviled egg plus a twist of deep-fried egg white that gives an extra layer of crispness. The finishing touch, the fragrant red chili oil, was genius!! Its aroma instantly brings me back to China Squab, soy sauce and shiso. Heavy on sweetness, seasoned as if was braised. Deboned already, very tender and juicy. The sweetness of the soy sauce was well tempered by the freshness of shiso... as for the potato foam...didn't make sense at all.... For main courses we ordered the signature snow crab noodles and the wagyu beef. The noodle was yet the biggest surprise. Simply replacing the lobster with crab meat and the E-fu Noodles with pasta from the famous Cantonese dish Lobster with Cheese and E-fu Noodles in Superior Soup, you get the dish! I didn't have the chance to have Lobster with Cheese when I went to California, so yes I had emotional points for this dish. To be fair, the crab somewhat overcooked, but anyways, with the cheese sauce, I could have eaten two bowls of that noodle! The beef was less attractive to me by then. It was still delicious of course. Nonetheless I didn't quite understand the dish. The whole concept and technique of it was very western, not in keeping with the rest of the menu; and foam/potato was on its third appearance by now, so naturally one gets bored with it. At $75 per person, it was fair enough(good value for one michelin star? maybe). Considering the dishes are slightly ill-conceived, i would say it's probably a Michelin plate in Shanghai at best, but in New York, where there isn't even an upscale Chinese restaurant, as a rare Chinese/Western fusion, fine I'll take it. It's kinda one of those restaurants that if it wasn't this close, there definitely wouldn't be a second time (but for the noodle, hell yeah!)

Having dinner here with my friend's birthday Great cocktails, interesting fusion dishes, a nice choice for date or hangout with small group of friend. Of course the sesame bread (fried bread with sesame source) is very impressive to kick off the meal! We had devil's egg, very creaming and fresh. The other one we had is fluke, perfect match with tartare and chips. Crab paste and wagyu (not A5) for main dishes, the only thing not perfect just the paste is little firm. Dessert is a popular dish in Asia, fired bun and ice cream ( ice cream is the best). The only downside is the seats are tiny for man.

Not sure why they have a Michelin star.
Food is overall ok, crab noodles are good, portions are overall very small though. Service was mediocre, felt rushed out. Didn't even have time to have a second beer.Really enjoyed it a few years ago, but quality seems to have gone down. Would not recommend.

Hmm, I'm very confused by the few one star reviews.
This place was amazing and I will definitely be back. I strongly recommend making a reservation. Service: despite some of the other reviews, I experienced amazing service. Our waiter was incredibly friendly and attentive. Ambiance: a little hard to describe, but it feels relaxed, neighborhood vibes, yet still nice and charming. You can come dressed casually or for a date night. Food: I thought the food was interesting - I appreciate that there were a lot of familiar elements to the food, but with unique twists. Also, the free appetizer they start you out with is so good. I recommend sharing family style. I ordered the below for two people:-Egg: deep fried deviled eggs? Ummm yes. So good! -Fluke: pretty standard fluke tartare, but good and the presentation was fun. -Some veggie appetizer that I can't remember. It may have been the sunchokes. Whatever it was, it was sublime. I could swim in the sauce it came with. -Octopus: so good. The octopus was perfectly cooked, not chewy at all and I once again I could literally swim in whatever sauce it comes with. -Snow Crab: buttery and delicious. I always love a good crab pasta. -Pig Out: I've never had pig like this before. As other reviewers have said, it's basically squares of compacted shredded pork that is then pan fried or something on the outside. Moist and tender on the inside and crunchy on the outside - delicious! I stuffed my face with the snow crab pasta, so I didn't end up eating the peanut noodles. But this is definitely a great deal. -Rice: pretty standard sticky rice with sausage, but very good. We ordered way too much food so I wouldn't necessarily order this again only out of the sheer amount of food. -Chinese Beignets: get these for dessert. They are delicious. I just wish it came with more jam. There was only one teeny tiny bit of it - enough for maybe one beignet.

If I can give less than one star I would.
Have a reservation for 7pm and by 7:35pm still not seated. The only response from the Host is he can give us an exclusive table inside for the delay like he is doing us a favor. He even has the audacity to tell us that normally people are happy to be seated inside when they cannot accommodate outside seating in timely manner. Ok but I book a table outside and I would expect to be honored my original request. I would expect a bit more from a one Michelin star spot. His apology was they don't kick people out when they finish. I guess as a one Michelin star spot, they also are ok to let people wait for more than 35 mins for their reservation despite showing up on time. By then we already lost our appetite in the cold waiting. No Michelin star food is worth us waiting for such mediocre customer service. There are much better options out there. I do not recommend.

As couple of other ppl said already, I don't understand the star for this one. It's really mediocre overall.Fire in the sky cocktail that everyone is raving about was just a watery sugary drink and nothing special.Octopus was very bellow average.Quail was actually good and interesting but not good enough to push my rating any higher Fish was average(not bad but just average). again nothing special deserving one Michelin star.I can't recommend.

My friend and I came here on a Saturday evening with an early dinner reservation. They have a small food menu and a big drinks menu. We ordered octopus and sunchoke as appetizers, snow crab noodles and wagyu beef as entrees, Chinese beignets and passionfruit cakes as desserts. They offered complimentary scallion pancake balls as starter. The food is delicious but not impressive. The desserts are not listed on the menu and there are only two options. Chinese beignets are just ok. It was a little surprising to see a birthday candle on the passionfruit cake as it's neither of our birthdays. The cake is tasty. The service is good. Overall, it's a nice restaurant, though I was expecting the food to be better given that it's a Michelin one star restaurant.

Dinner was great - food was really well executed, service was great, and the vibe was nice as well. They have outdoor seating but almost no one chose to sit out there, I'd recommend the vibe indoors too. The waitresses were super friendly and so helpful but still in a classy and approachable wayStarted with the Quail and the sunchoke appetizers. The quail was deliciously moist, savory and tangy like Chinese bbq, with a crispy skin. The sunchoke was light and refreshing but the foam it was served with was both rich and citrusy fresh. The fried deviled eggs were one of the best egg dishes I've ever had. Crunchy, salty, and spicy with some Szechuan chili oil on top, but not overly salty like I worried. For the main, had the trout in Cambodian curry which was good but not quite a unique dish like all the other ones we had. The dessert was the other star of the meal. Sweet "Chinese beignets" - flakey on the outside, fluffy and moist on the inside, and covered in a sweet syrup. With the yuzu jam and goat milk caramel on the side, it was divine.

I just heard about Tuome a few weeks ago and instantly made a reservation. The restaurant is tiny and packed so I wouldn't try showing up without one. Once inside you are greeted by a friendly staff who was constantly checking in on us. When we first sat down, we were given a complimentary Scallion Pancake which was a great start to the meal. Looking at the menu, the options seem limited but the limited options are made up for in taste. We started with the octopus and I was blown away. I am normally not a big fan of octopus but I really was craving another order. The potato espume that came with it was incredible as well. For the mains we ordered the Chicken, Wagyu Beef, and Pig Out. I will start by saying they were all very good. If I were to go back, I would replace the Chicken with the Snow Crab Noodles which look incredible. You wouldn't want to miss out on the Wagyu Beef or Pig Out though. I will note that the Wagyu Beef comes out very rare. If you like it more well done, you might want to point it out during your order because they don't ask you to specify. As for the Pig Out, you shouldn't change a thing. Between the crunchy exterior and moist inside I could've had another order to myself. Not to mention they could've added the peanut noodles that come with it as its own dish and I would be ordering it every time. No meal would be finished without a good dessert and Tuome didn't disappoint. I highly recommend the Chinese Beignets with the caramel sauce and ice cream. On top of that I highly recommend drowning it in the caramel sauce. The only downside to the restaurant is the portions are all on the smaller side. Sharing a couple apps and one main each won't really do it for a big eater even with the sides. That being said I really enjoyed my meal and definitely see myself coming back in the future.

Dined at Tuome last night for the first time.
I was really shocked by the location and ambiance / look of the establishment upon arriving. Tucked away in Alphabet City, Tuome is hidden is a very unsuspecting part of the city. The restaurant has a very homey, Brooklyn circa 2008 vibe to me. Edison lightbulbs are strung throughout, there's a lot of exposed brick, the waitstaff are very casual and casually dressed. I wouldn't have been surprised if a folk band appeared out of thin air to perform in the main dining area--the restaurant just gave off that vibe. The crowd was young and casual too. Not what I would've expected from a Michelin star establishment, just based on my experience! The experience started with the complimentary amuse bouche / puffed dough that was accompanied by a cream cheese-like everything seasoning mix. Quite tasty. My friend and I both ordered the Fire in the Sky cocktail which is INCREDIBLE--if you like yuzu, order this! Really outstanding and strong. Then, we ordered deviled eggs and chicken liver as starters. The chicken liver was unexceptional so I would pass on ordering it again but I'm glad I tried it. The deviled eggs were really good; I loved the deviled part. The fried egg was interesting to me. For mains, we went with the snow crab with noodles and the wagyu beef. The snow crab noodles were outstanding; the clear star of the meal for me. The noodles were perfectly al dente, the sauce was creamy and sweet and so so delicious. Very rich, but I loved that. And the crab + breadcrumb-like topping was the perfect savory touch + crunch to cut through the sweetness. The wagyu beef was also very good, though I prefer my steak more cooked and to me this was very medium rare. But the truffle sauce it accompanied was really great, and the maitake mushroom paired with it all perfectly. For dessert, they only had a build-your-own ice cream sandwich with Chinese beignets. I loved the accompanying caramel sauce but honestly I wish they had more dessert options.I would certainly come back, but I don't understand how this place got a Michelin star. My friend was given the wrong wine at one point, there was an incident during our visit where a woman (customer? Or potential customer? No idea) started yelling / got into a fight with a waiter and it caused a scene to those of us sitting near the front door, and there was an incredibly rowdy party who came in towards the end of the night (one of the guys was talking so loud I could hear every word he said) which isn't the restaurant's fault but I honestly found it pretty annoying. So I'd come back for the food but not the service. And I hope they provide more dessert options in the future!!!

This was our third meal at Tuome.
It gets better with each visit. This last meal we order sunchokes prepared three different ways, quail, wagyu beef and trout. All were exceptional, though the trout not as complex as the other dishes. Service was very good. The restaurant is simple. There is not a lot of fuss when presented with the food or in describing the food. There are appetizers and main courses. No six course pre fixe. Just exceptional Michelin starred cooking without the show. The prices too, at about $100 per person with tax and tip and no alcohol, may be one of the better bargains in town.

Great experience here! Found this special restaurant with Michelin recommendations so we decided to make a reservation for our anniversary. We ordered two drinks, two appetizers, two mains, and we were gifted dessert for our anniversary. First of all, the service here was absolutely amazing! Everyone was super friendly and not invasive to our experience at all. It was a very intimate restaurant but we still felt like we could have our privacy and thoroughly enjoy our experience. The menu we ordered was amazing. So many interesting flavors and combinations that I haven't tried before. To this day, I'm still absolutely amazing by their potato purรฉe. It was squeezed out of a pressurized cylinder and wow was it amazing. Haven't ever had anything that fluffy and light at another restaurant before. Really enjoyed my time and would definitely recommend!

We had a great time a tuome last night.
Prior to coming I saw so many pictures of the pancake balls that when I didn't see them on the menu I was disappointed -- only to find out they were complimentary! Scallion pancake balls with housemade ricotta...wow so good. For mains we got the crab pasta, wagyu, and pig out. All phenomenal. The buttery sauce of the crab pasta was SO unique. Such a rich flavor, but not overwhelming at all. It's hard to choose, but I think this might've been my favorite dish of the night. The wagyu and truffle whipped potato was also ridiculously amazing. To be honest, I couldn't even tell you with certainty if it was potato or not, but I didn't need to know, my tastebuds led the way to happiness. The pigout is such a clever creation. It comes with sichuan peanut noodles, similar to dan dan noodles without meat, and an arugula salad. I thought I should share with the yelp community that this is the FIRST salad I have EVER eaten. I thought, when at a michelin restaurant...why not?! I have a feeling any other salads I try won't quite reach the bar this salad set, but I'm okay with that. The dressing was so light and tangy, and I loved everything it came with. The pork was really fun to eat. It comes with two sauces and the top is so crispy you don't realize at first that the rest of the meat is actually shredded. Very good, very unique. For dessert we had the chinese style beignets. The chef recommends making them into an ice cream sandwich, so fun! They were perfectly fluffy and warm and I loved the caramel sauce and red bean paste. I really loved this restaurant. I wish I could eat this food every day. Thanks, tuome!
