Pizza made from fresh limited dough.
They have limited dough per night so if reservations are filled, there is no walk-in seating. The menu alcohol list was much longer than the food, which may be reflective of where they place priority. Pizza was good but not great. Friendly service but the room was way too warm. Sweating uncomfortably.

It's really hard to get a reservation, but I succeeded. We went in and had some great wine and even better pizza. The ambiance isn't cute italian, but rather very straight forward pizzeria. The menu is VERY limited, but that doesn't mean you should be concerned because really the pizza in this case is about the dough. It is the best dough i've ever had outside of Napoli. I was so happy as I ate the pizza even though I couldn't get the toppings I wanted, and that was weird. I though the special pizza was going to be the best, it wasn't. The margherita pizza with pepperoni is the way to go, but you really should get one pizza per person - I don't think they'll give you more than that. The desserts are just like the wines - really great deals and really wonderful. Get whatever they have as dessert that day, and maybe see if you can get an extra pizza too, unlikely you'll get a second reservation anytime soon.

- Showed up at 4:45 on a cold winter day without reservation managed to procure a table I had to agree to leave by 6:45p No scene, I was done by 6:30p - sweet peppers were delicious - friendly service with great recos - wine bottles are a good deal - pizza dough was some of the best bread I ever had in my life - pepperoni complemented the margherita pizza - all the desserts looked delicious - the honey wine dessert tasted like alcoholic honey - special pizza was good, marg was better

The pizza toppings are scant, leaving me yearning for more meaty goodness. Yet, I get it--it's their bold stance to create pizzas that are simple, plain, and undeniably the best. The game-changer? The dough. Unlike any other pizza joint, they didn't strive for a crispy crust. Instead, it's a dance of super chewy yet soft, as if each pie carries the distinct hand pressure of its maker. With such great food, does it matter if the service and ambiance is good or not?
Be the first to ReplyAmazing pizza.
Totally worth the hype and also the difficulty reserving through conventional methods. You have to reserve your dough in advance so it's one pizza per person. If you ask super nicely sometimes they have an extra dough ball left--better luck with this later in the night probably. But great wine selection to go with the pizzas, including an intriguing sparkling red.
Be the first to ReplyThis is quite a lovely pizza.
As others are saying, definitely get here 15ish minutes early if you don't have a reservation, and being seated at 5 pm when they open should not be a problem. The menu is very uncomplicated which I love - just 4-5 different pizzas, that all have a vegetarian base and swap out an ingredient here or there. I love that - the simplest menus are often the best. Opting for the margherita pizza, a classic Neopolitan style, I chose to get the peppers on top as well. Great call! They are a bit spicy & salty so be warned, but definitely packed the punch that took this pizza to the next level. The oil they use is so rich and incredible, and the crust was really superb. A bit messy of a pizza to eat given how much oil it felt went into it, but no doubt of the highest quality. Really it seems like you cannot go wrong with any of their pizzas, so enjoy!

I had heard about this pizza place by word of mouth, and living close by, decided to wait outside one Friday afternoon for a walk-in table. I arrived at around 4:40 pm and there were 2 parties ahead. By the time the restaurant opened at 5 pm, there were probably 5-10 parties behind us as well. We were able to be seated in the corner as a group of 3. For drinks, we opted to share a bottle of sparkling red which was pretty good. Food-wise, we were told we should order 3 pizzas (although honestly I think 2 would've been plenty, as we had almost a whole pizza leftover). The pizzas we got were the Margherita, Filetti, and Special. One of us liked the Filetti the most, and the other two the Special. While the pizzas were good, I hate to say that I've had better Neopolitan-style pizzas. I think this is a good neighborhood spot, but not a place I'd queue up to get a seat at.

TLDR: Worth the wait!! Una Pizza is definitely in my top 5 pizza spots in the city. If you love Neopolitan style pizza then you have to visit here. Their margherita is uncomplicated and perfectly done. The crust is light and airy with a good amount of crunch and their sauce is unmatched.

Finally got a reservation here and glad I did! If you like napolitan type pizza this is your place. You can only order one pizza per person unless you request more in advance. The margherita with pepperoni was delicious. The crust is chewy and soft but also holds together. So good. The marinara is underrated and was the best one we had. Appetizers weren't anything special. Burrata was good but nothing special. Wouldnt reorder the peppers either. Service was excellent and made for a pleasant experience. Highly recommend for the pizza.

Finally got a reservation after months, and it was well worth it. Tied for #1 in the world for Neapolitan style pizza - it's a well deserved ranking. Not only is the crust fluffy and airy but the toppings - wow, it's spectacular! In a city where thin crust is king and as a thin crust enthusiast myself, this place really sets itself apart. Margherita with long hot peppers - The peppers is a must add as it adds some great flavor and heat. The Special Pizza - 10/10. Rotates weekly. The toppings felt daunting - yellow raisins, capers, olives, lettuce. But it was the perfect saltiness and combination - surprisingly satisfying and a delight to the taste buds. Our waitress was helpful, gave solid recommendations from the wine list to accompany our meal. Ambiance is amazing - intimate, full view of the brick oven in the back to see pizza come in and out. A great experience (if you can get a reservation).

I am not a pizza expert so I won't talk about the undercarriage or the cornicione just a regular person who likes pizza ( and learned a new word - cornicione!) . The pizza itself gets 5 stars for a Neapolitan-style pizza. I do agree with previous reviews that this place is all about the dough. I thought the crust was fantastic - light and flavorful. I liked the sauce , toppings and cheese and thought this is great. The choice of app and dessert is so limited and not that great. I would skip those for sure. So go in with the expectation that I am going to have a great neapolitan style pizza for ~$28 per person and you will be happy.

Being that they are open only couple days out the week, it books up really quick. When you do get a reservation you won't be disappointed. I seen them turn walk ins away because they were booked for the evening. The ambience is cute, dark and intimate. You enter and the bar area is kind of loud but then you get seated and it's quiet lol. You are only able to order 1 pie per person. I got the margarita pie and experienced the pizza experts build it from scratch. All ingredients used to make pizza are imported. I smashed the whole pie, it was super fresh. The bread was so airy and had a nice undercarriage. I had 2 cups of red house wine and gave me a light buzz. One of my favorite Neapolitan pizza in NY. Would certainly come again. I paid with tip $75 for margarita pie and 2 cups of red wine, normal NYC prices lol. Going back to try their Bianca pie.

Ok, I LOVE NYC/NJ pizza, and even CT style better than Naples pizza. I like the bold flavors of the cheese, the sauce, firmer undercarriage, and a more abundant layer of toppings on the NYC/NJ/CT styles. I never eat the crust though, I know some people will think that's blasphemy, but I don't like plain dough, it's a filler and the middle of the pizza is where the party's at. But... @unapizzanapoletana is number one in the world, numero uno al mondo! I wasn't hyped because it's not my favorite style of pizza, but I enjoyed the flavors, and yes, I even ate the whole crust. It was satisfying, light, fluffy, chewy, and had the perfect amount of char. The Margherita was good, but I could've used more saltiness or more garlic in the sauce, maybe more cheese, but still enjoyed it. The special pizza of the night, which rotates, was buffalo mozz DOP, spring onion, garlic, basil, Sicilian sea salt, Italian pine nuts, Provolone Del Monaco, Altamura breadcrumbs and Calabrian crushed pepper, topped with EVOO. Yes , I had to list every ingredient because it was so worth it! This pizza gave me the flavors I wanted! Garlicky, salty, cheesy and a chewy bite. I wish I could've had some EVOO on the side to dip the crust, but they don't give it out even if you ask. My guess is that @anthony_w_mangieri wants you to eat the pizza as he intended, or the only EVOO they use is too expensive to give out by request. In the beginning, I asked but wasn't allowed to order a third pie, but I was glad because I was so full by the end (they limit each customer to one pie and are limited on their dough and sell out every night). I think we chose the right pizzas, go with the classic and go with their special of the night. Although still not my preferred kind of pizza, I'd definitely come back here to try their other pies. Oh, and finish with their gelato or sorbet, the flavors also rotate, but last night's almond gelato and blood orange sorbet were out of this world. Kept going back and forth trying to decide which was better... I only took off one star because I don't love how they limit you to one pizza or do not allow you extra olive oil, but I understand...to keep their quality and their style uniquely theirs, they gotta limit, but a customer wants what a customer wants! Especially when it's good stuff...
Be the first to ReplyThis is the best pizza I've had in New York so far.
It's a different style from typical American pizza, which is obvious from the restaurant's name, and with a very restrictive menu. They clearly know what they're doing. The crust is amazing and the ingredients are carefully selected. The best one was the margherita with pepperoni added. Really incredible. The local beers are also not left behind and also give a special touch. I would definitely go back.Price: $45 per person (tip included).

The pizza is good but our server completely forgot to ring in our appetizer. I asked about it 3/4 through our pizzas. We were done eating and the server drops our cold, pre made appetizer in front of us.... Lmao... what????
Be the first to ReplyThe woman who said it's pretentious is insane.
It's the best pizza I've eaten. It's like Keens steakhouse. Amazing ingredients and I'll be back many times. The deserts are amazing too. Cheers Anthony and my friend Shane! Simply the best.
Be the first to ReplyThis place is definitely overhyped.
Pizza is a very subjective, and sometimes religious experience, so I get that some people love it. The dough is good. But for me, the dough is a platform to bring everything else together. Here, the dough is the star, and everything else is sparse or non-existent. And my personal preference is a crust that is slightly thinner and less chewy. It may be the best pizza in LES, but in NYC it's a far stretch.

Hey Anthony,On occasion I've been going to watch Anthony make pizza since the east village. He was a guy on mission. I've gone to see him in Sanfran the place wasn't busy at all. When he cam back to the LES I was one of the first people through the doors. It appears now that you pretty much need a reservation as they only make so many doughs. I was turned away at 630 pm because all the dough was all sold! I told him this is pretentious pizza and I wasn't a fan of all of the quirkiness. He responded that maybe I shouldn't go there if I was offended. Its far from the best pizza in NYC never mind the world. His dough is light an airy however it often is underwhelming some say sublime however they are wrong. What he and many like him is to have made made pizza is a sin. Pizza was to feed the poor it is every mans food. At 27 dollars for a personal pie Anthony has made pizza for the few. If you have a minute please go and support Patsy's uptown, Difara now that Dom has passed his family needs support. Scarr's, Scar Pimental is a rock star. Roberta's they will never run out of dough. Totonno's brooklyn, any of the hundreds of fine pizzerias around Manhattan and the boroughs'. Anthony Mangieri and Una Pizza no longer need our help!! He has struggled to make a cohesive business since day 1. I can never go back here. you shouldn't either. Its a joke. Anthony Mangieri / Una Pizza che liberazione

I have literally never been more disappointed by a restaurant... This is supposed to be the world's best pizza but it had basically no taste! I was shocked at how bad it was. It isn't that I don't like this style of pizza - I was in Naples last month and had amazing Neapolitan pizza. Don't bother going here and it definitely isn't worth spending anytime to get a reservation. The burrata and bean appetizers and the sorbet and gelato were very good but not good enough to warrant a trip on their own.
Be the first to ReplyV nice pizza.
Best in the world? I'm not so sure. Could do with expanding menu a bit. Excellent service though.
Be the first to ReplyWhen considering the pizza, Una Pizza Napoletana has some
When considering the pizza, Una Pizza Napoletana has some of the best pizza in New York. However, certain attributes of the restaurant detract from the experience surrounding the best Neapolitan style pizza I've ever had.The Neapolitan style pizza you can eat here is second to none. The crust is chewy and airy; the outer crust has a height I have never seen before. The pizzas are very simple and feature combinations of the highest quality tomato sauce, tomatoes, and buffalo mozzarella you can eat in New York. Eating pizza like this is a delight. Though make sure to eat the pizza while it's hot as the flavors and textures dull as the pizza cools.I was fortunate enough to be introduced to Una Pizza Napoletana before the pandemic by a good friend and was devastated when the restaurant closed with no plans to reopen. However, I was delighted to learn a few weeks ago on Instagram that the restaurant was reopening. I contacted the same friend and we planned a time to revisit. The restaurant is not without its faults. They seem to be struggling with problems associated with being closed for so long and reopening that lead to exorbitant prices, unnecessarily difficult reservations due to limited days that they are open, and limited dough/ingredients that had our waitress frantic when she thought we wanted to order 3 pizzas for the two of us. Unfortunately, our waitress messed up the toppings on my pizza, which was uncomfortable given her warning. While I left the restaurant with a smile on my face, ecstatic that I got to eat the pizza again, I was still hungry and slightly dissatisfied. The negative reviews seem to prioritize the price over the food; I think these concerns are misplaced. I plan to return but will likely dine solo as a walk-in at the bar, eat the pizza while it's hot, and make a quick exit.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food and really cool atmosphere.
Service was exceptional and in line with a much more expensive restaurant.

Came here 2 years ago so had to come back for the reopening! The difference is the dough here... an amazing chewy fermented perfection. Yes the topping to crust ratio is not for everyone. Definitely a spot to impress your foodie friends. Worth the hypeThe bean appetizer really fell flat for us :( undercooked.

This is for the new UNA ย pizza in Atlantic Highlands NJ ย grand opening 2/28/2020 on 1st ave. I took my family here and by far it's the best pizza we had in a long time. Great selection of wines too. The place is fixed beautifully with a neat clean look. We had four different pizzas and all were excellent. ย Great tasting dough and sauce with just the right amount of cheese. They opened at 5 pm that night but I am not sure if this will be the normal opening time. We will return because their pizza is that good.

TLDR: excellent crust; flavorless toppings; overpriced; best salted caramel ice cream ever. I can't in good faith recommend the pizza here--it is not nearly flavorful enough and is outrageously expensive for what it is. We got the Friday special pizza (several kinds of tomatoes) and a margherita. The sauce is very mediocre and you can barely taste the cheese. The crust is indeed excellent, so if you want the fluffiest crust ever and aren't as interested in the toppings, you should try it. Otherwise, spend $50 per person elsewhere. The two appetizer choices, olives and lupini beans, were also not special, though at least the olives were tasty. The homemade salted caramel ice cream was phenomenal and you should go out of your way for it! After charging $23 for a pizza, they had the nerve to give us a single Baci Perugina chocolate with our check--for two people; those are not expensive chocolates...that was bewildering. The server even said something like, "we're doing a Valentine's Day test to see how you split this one chocolate."
