after reading all the fantastic yelp reviews, I decided to meet up with a friend there. I would 100% return, Delish!

My friends and I tried this place on a weekday there were plenty available tables but we were told by the hostess to wait outside. After about 10 minutes of waiting we went to check and he said the table has been ready....we were very confused as to why he didn't come get us. The service was great but the food was not unfortunately. The sushi rolls were made very loose and carelessly. The rice and seafood did not taste fresh. I even asked an employee if the chef was new he said no. The quality of everything was just below average especially the salmon. The eel was the only thing worth trying. I will not be back but cute place!

Simply Stellar Sushi and Service This quaint and cozy restaurant offers an exceptional sushi dining experience. The atmosphere is perfect for a relaxing and enjoyable meal. The true star of the show, however, is the sushi. The rice is cooked to perfection - the right consistency and flavorful enough to stand on its own. The fish is impeccably fresh, well-cut, and seasoned to perfection. But what truly elevates this restaurant is the service. The staff is incredibly attentive and anticipates your needs. Whether you need more water or your next omakase course, they're there before you even ask. Overall, a fantastic dining experience - highly recommend!
Be the first to ReplyWe got the Valentine's Day Omakase.
Some of the fish from the omakase set melts in your mouth. The whole set was very delicious and filling. Service was amazing and very accommodating. This is in a small restaurant and we were sat at a two person table but felt really close to the people next to us.
Be the first to ReplyThe food and service both are good.
Food is fresh and tasty. Only things bothered me are too crowded and the noise too loud.
Be the first to ReplyThe sushi was just ok, nothing spectacular.
I ordered the Salmon, Tuna, Yellowtail, and Albacore rolls. Ambiance wasn't great either. I probably wouldn't come back. There are a lot better hole in the wall sushi restaurants than this one. The service was ok.
Be the first to ReplyA Great light lunch, parking a bit tough.
...excellent green tea, fresh fish, get the premium lunch.
Be the first to ReplyFirst time at this place on a trip to visit a friend.
I liked the minimal ambiance decor. Everything seemed nice and clean and inviting. The sushi was good, the menu reminded me of a SugarFish but with a better same menu. Service was good, the waitress was helpful and eager. My only suggestion is that they make their prix fixe menu fish cuts better and more in line with their a La carte fish cuts. I might try this place again but I think I would prefer SugarFish.
Be the first to ReplySuper cute place.
Lighting is a little bright for my taste, but there are few spots in the booths that feel a bit darker. This place does not take reservations, but there was no wait. However they would not seat us until entire party was there, so we were told to wait outside. It was pretty cold, but there are chairs and heaters to make it more comfortable. The food is delicious. We got yellowtail sashimi, seam bream nigori, popcorn shrimp, crispy rice, Baked crab hand roll. Service was awesome. When we went ordered nigori,(2 pieces) the waitress asked if we would like to make it 3 pieces as there were 3 people in our party. I thought this was a nice touch, because everyone got to try it with out us having to order an additional nigori. Some street parking, also a Free parking lot on Tilden ave.

Be the first to ReplyI just finished eating at this restaurant for the first
I just finished eating at this restaurant for the first time. I can say without a doubt that this was the BEST SERVICE EXPERIENCE that I've ever had in LA in the 8 odd years I've been living and eating out here. I mean...seriously... this was the kind of service experience that I assumed was only reserved for a-list celebrities and well-known food critics (of which I am clearly neither). I've eaten at restaurants significantly more expensive than this place, which haven't even come close to providing this kind of service. Also the cleanliness of the restaurant was impeccable - they are clearly taking Covid precautions very seriously, which few restaurants seem to be doing at this point in the game. I'm just floored. Regarding the actual FOOD - this was the freshest fish I've had in la..it's not even a debate. The sushi I ordered was exquisitely fresh and simple and, for those reasons, absolutely perfect. I appreciated the simplicity because there was nothing to hide - the ingredients and execution were as good as it gets. Anyway, I left this meal borderline confused because of how purely positive the experience was... I'm a nitpicker by nature and there is nothing I would change - not one second of the experience from walking in to walking out. And, I think it goes without saying with how much I emphasized the service in this review, but every person working here was exceptionally friendly. Long story short - this is maybe my new favorite restaurant in la. To whomever is managing this spot... kudos...you deserve a standing ovation. Thank you, Uzumaki!
Be the first to ReplyWill 100% come again!!!!The price? The service? The food?
Will 100% come again!!!!The price? The service? The food? All amazing!!First, the price. For the amount of food that you get and the quality of the fish, you can't beat it!!Second, the service. They have outdoor and indoor dining. A few outdoor seating (4 tables - 2 seats each) and tons of indoor seating. We came at around at around 8:40PM at a Friday and there were two parties in front of us. They have a few seating spots outside for when you're waiting to eat. We were seated in around 20 minutes. The outdoor seating area is really cute. You're separated by the sidewalk with a curtain and they have lights with heating (though this wasn't turned on when we came since it summer). Also, all the servers were SOOO nice, many of whom were actually Japanese (if you're a Japanese customer then you can likely speak with them). Finally, the food. Amazing!!! We definitely recommend the Uzumaki plus if you're looking for Omakase style. Everything was delicious. All the fish was fresh and tasty. We also ordered seared salmon, unagi, and toro a la carte (forgot to take a photo of toro). Seared salmon was okay. The fish slice wasn't too thick so it tasted pretty seared (and not too much of actually salmon). The unagi was amazing!! Thick and hot and saucy. The only bad experience here was the toro. We didn't take a pic and were slightly shocked (had to ask twice if it was actually toro). It was a thick cut but was def not toro in our eyes. It looks exactly like the tuna from the omakase (bright red - not fat and not pink). I think they made a mistake. MP was $13 and not worth. Other than this though, it was def worth it!!!!!
Be the first to ReplyWas out in LA for work and came across this place.
Very good quality fish, great service and clean bathrooms. I would definitely come back.
Be the first to ReplyReally solid sushi.
I got the uzumaki plus which was $43, which includes a very tiny slightly sweet ish ceviche, edamame, 8 different pieces of nigiri, and a small spicy tuna or crunchy shrimp roll. The roll was just ok but the nigiri were really yummy. I particularly loved the amberjack and got an extra order. I love the customer service here too, they're so attentive. It's nice and clean too. A really solid spot for the west side for when you don't want to make a drive to little Tokyo.
Be the first to ReplyWe've been here before and it was excellent but the quality
We've been here before and it was excellent but the quality has taken a dive since covid. I ordered the uzumaki plus (most expensive option) which can be directly compared to Sugarfish's Nozawa option. Most of the sushi was good, but the opening ceviche was completely overpowered by the tortilla chip and the edamame was overcooked and under seasoned. My real issue is with the final course. Sugarfish ends on a high note with a toro and blue crab hand roll. To end the most expensive option at Uzumaki I was given the option of Spicy Tuna or Shrimp buried in crumbs. I tried both and was disappointed by both. It felt like a dish from Wokano or some other cheap sushi joint, only I signed a check for over $150 on the way out. Also, don't turn the sushi bar into a take out center. I came for an upscale dinner, not to feel like I was in a back room preparing to go orders. All of my gripes are easily fixed and for the price point I hope they can get back to their former glory.

Great little sushi spot in Culver City! I usually go with the "Uzumaki Plus" and it's pretty satisfying. Not AYCE but the quality is excellent and consistent!! Definitely give it a try if you like places like Sugarfish. The location is fairly small so we had to wait often during peak hours, but I have never been disappointed!!

I think it's good, but don't compare it to Sugarfish! It gets the job done if you're craving good quality sushi in the area and are wanting to sit inside of a nicer place.
Be the first to ReplyBest way to describe this place: Underwhelming.
Food: 6/10Ambience: 3/10Service: 7/10Value: 4/10The spicy tuna roll was one of the worst I've had anywhere with bland tuna on top of basically an avocado roll. Very unbalanced and flavorless.Ceviche was good, although the chips were not necessary or authentic. The omakase option was overpriced and underwhelming for the quality. The lack of variety of the fish was very disappointing. Flavorless, average tasting, definitely not up to par for most higher-mid range sushi places in LA. The dessert donut thing was super small, floppy, and honestly not that good for the $12.00 price tag. Ate the entire thing in 2 bites and wasn't impressed.Yellowtail hand roll was decent, but nothing to write home about. The ambience of the place itself felt more like an office building than a nice restaurant. Very bright fluorescent lighting. Booths felt more like cubicles than anything else. Definitely wondered why I dressed up to go here.I'm from LA originally and live in Oklahoma now, and our local sushi spot, literally called "The Sushi Bar" is cheaper and better in just about every way than this place, so that should tell you something.Don't understand the 4.5 star rating.Bottom line: not the worst sushi I've ever had, but having both spent the majority of my life living in LA and being a sushi fanatic, I will not be coming back. There are plenty of places just in West LA that have better quality, ambience, and value for the price point. Don't waste your money here unless you like very inauthentic, underwhelming sushi.

Got an Omakase along with several additional items off the menu. I was on the fence between a four or a five star review, and decided to go with the five mainly due to the other places that I like better are either not in this area or cost a lot more. I wouldn't call this place cheap, but probably a better value than many other places of this quality. I may update the review once I try it one more time.

Be the first to ReplySushi fantastic.
Great location. Service prompt. I'd rather eat where than other comparable price point sushi places. . Love it. Get their Uzumaki Plus. The fish is fresh and the food's yummy.
Be the first to ReplyFull disclosure: I am a lazy yelper.
I generally only write reviews if I love or hate a restaurant. Having been to Uzumaki a few times now, I am happy to report that it is absolutely amazing. LA has no shortage of good sushi but you generally will be paying heavily for it. Uzumaki is the absolute pinnacle of the quality to price ratio. Are there better spots? Perhaps. But is there a better value out there? I doubt it. The staff are very friendly and attentive and the food is delicious. I have nothing at all bad to say about this place and look forward to frequenting this place in the future. Word of advice: get omakase.

Delicious sushi! I really like the rolls here and I think it's the rolls I've ever had! The fish was fresh and delicious. The service was so fast and everyone was so nice. We'll definitely be back for more rolls!!! There's also parking in the building nearby.
