Arrived early (for Spain) without a reservation on a Tuesday evening. Several tables were reserved and the others filled up quickly. This cosy little restaurant (it also has an outside terrace) was made even more so by the open log fire in its centre, and the fire is not just there for effect, but to cook on. For the first hour, there was just one member of staff in evidence who was serving tables, taking phone reservations and even cooking meat on the fire. This woman was amazing. The menu was a mix of tapas, grilled dishes plus desserts. We had the pardon peppers and grilled prawns for starters. The prawns could have had more salt but were well cooked in olive oil and parsley. My partner said his padron peppers were fantastic. He was less keen on his entrecรดte main which he said had a strange smoky flavour- maybe some barbecue rub? I had the pork chops which were very tender (cooked on the fire) and both mains came with delicious cubes of fluffy roast potatoes and more padron peppers as a veg. Desserts included Sachertorte, plain cheesecake and a cream-filled sponge. Prices were very reasonable. Wine was too- and generous glasses. This place isnโt gourmet dining but itโs justifiably popular for home-style cooking.
