Not only great value, great food too!
This is a buffet style lunch place. It is frequented by locals so that in it self is quite the recommendation! The place is very clean and well taken care of. It offers simple but good local food for a reasonable price. Recommended!

If you are shocked at the price of food in Reykjavik, this is a great place to get good value buffet style lunch. The restaurant is only opened Mon - Fri between 1130 and 1330. The charge is 2170 ISK per person for a 3 course lunch. The restaurant is a side line business of the main stream catering supplies to hotels and restaurants. Generally the buffet lunch will have a hot soup with bread rolls for starters, main course is a selection of 2 meats and 2 fish dishes with accompanying sides of potatoes or rice/pasta. There is also a selection of cold pasta and salad leaves/vegetables. Desert was a chocolate cake. Coffee is also available as part of the price If you are staying at the TUI sponsored Fosshotel or Storm hotel, this restaurant is just 3 minutes walk away.

I learned about this place from my wife who in turn learned about it from their tour guide. Their guide said it was where local people eat. She was not disappointed. Nor was I. I paid 2170 isk. Tax included. Coffee (and water-of course) available. True buffet style compared to Myrin Mathus. There is a good selection of salads and other foods. Several choices of meat, fish. bread One of the best soups I have ever tasted during my stay in Reykjavik. I had two full plates-something I normally not do. It was that good. From the street, it is not very obvious so you might miss it. Enter thru the ground floor, go down about 2 steps and turn left. The owner/cook (?) went from table to table to ask if everything was alright. Only place that did this! They are opened only for lunch though. 1130-130. I heartily recommend this place. Clean, wide space, good food, great staff.

This a local restaurant buffet, where you get a taste of local cuisine at an affordable price. They had tasty dishes. The cod and potatoes were delicious. It is not far from Fosshotel Reykjavik. My wife and I prefer less touristy locations and authentic. This definitely is that kind of spot.

Came here for lunch. The local is on the ground floor in Borgartun 6. Not very noticeable from the street. The crowd is local, a mix of carpenters and office workers. The buffet is fantastic, especially when considering the price of kr.1970, soup, salads, fish, meat dishes and including coffie. The place is only open for 2 hours, from 11.30-13.30.
