Dinner last night was expecting more from quality per reviews and recommendations. Service in beginning was great, fast and smiling waitress, entrees too more time but was hoping for great food.Wife ordered chunks of cod dinner she said was very good and especially the sweet plantains, I ordered paella Versailles which is a seafood dish, all seafood was way overcooked some almost tough. Rice and sweet plantains were spot on. When I told waitress she said nothing. Must be normal then. This place was hopping from time we arrived around 7:15 and we left 8:30 there was about 75 people waiting outside.I won't recommend this restaurant but seems it had a great following so choose something other than Paella Versailles.

This was our first Cuban restaurant in Miami, and it was definitely a good one! It was one of the highest rated and most recommended across many platforms. I booked a reservation about one week ahead and was seated about 10 minutes after arrival. They have lots of seating and parking outside the restaurant. The menu was a bit overwhelming for me since I don't think I've been in a Cuban restaurant before. Thankfully our server was super helpful and pointed out the most popular dishes. Service was fast and food was amazing!! The pricing is reasonable. We stopped by the bakery to grab some Guava-cheese pastries that were also amazing! This is on the way from MIA to downtown Miami / Miami Beach so I highly recommend a quick bite after your flight!!

I get it why this place has so many reviews with such a high star. The food was real goood.Roast pork - served shredded, the pork was very tender and well-seasoned. It came with Moros rice, combination of the black rice and bean was nicely seasoned, it paired really well with the pork. And it came with a piece of pork skin that was crunchy giving extra texture and the onions giving extra sweetness to the dish.Braised oxtail - very tender and flavorful too! Came with a side of white rice and plantains.Paella versailles - The paella was my least favorite. It was on a "wet" side and not with the dry crispy bottom like Spanish paella. It was also not as flavorful as the other dishes. But the texture of the rice was just right and packed with seafood; shrimp, fish, mussels, clams, squid, chicken. It also came with a side of plantains. I really liked the plantains. It wasn't mushy, still got some texture, and not overly caramelized which means wasn't too sweet.Pina colada - it was such a nice drink to get. Very refreshing as it was frozen and also sweet. But i could taste the pineapple and coconut. We came at lunch time so it was crowded but the restaurant is big and has a lot of seatings. We had to wait around 30 mins but the time went by as we stopped by the bakery to grab some baked goods too. Definitely a really good spot and a must stop when you're in Miami!

..No frills just good down to earth Cuban food. Service is typical Miami...quick fast in a hurry.
Be the first to ReplyI'll start by saying go early to the bakery side.
We visited the bakery part one evening and I'll be very honest it was too crowded and it seems like they didn't have much left. So we went to the restaurant part and it was also full, signs of a good choice to stop at. We ordered dessert and cafecito. The coffee full flavor Cuban and desserts had very good flavor. The chocolate cake wasn't too sweet and the flan is just right. We were taken care of well and the place is very clean. They will continue to check on you. The feel for this restaurant is very welcoming.

I do not know what happened to this place, but it was one of the worst dining experiences I had ever had. Waited 45 minutes to get a table in the blazing sun. No shade for the 50 or more customers standing outside. Just a few outside table with umbrellas. Finally got to a table, after 10 minutes a waitress came over and I asked for water for the table. After we received our water we waited for 20 for our order to be taken. I had to go to the manager to complain for him to do anything about it. The food was nothing to brag about. I've been to dozens of Cuban restaurants with much better food. This place is supposedly famous, it certainly isn't for the customer service or the food. Save your time and money, go somewhere else.

We took our whole family to Versailles the day before a wedding. It was about a 45 min wait for a table for 10 people. I started with a guava and jalapeño margarita which was really good! My family ordered some empanadas for the table and I got the seafood paella. The portion was so large I felt like I barely go through much of it. Our waitress packed it up for me to take back to the hotel. Would definitely recommend!
Be the first to ReplyThis restaurant is located on a corner of the street.
It is a very large restaurant you wouldn't think so looking on the outside. They do not except reservations so expect at least a 45 minute wait. It was very overly packed when I went, but it went quickly because there's little stores around it you can go to the even have the desert bakery right next-door. The service was not the best, but not the worst either, they have a large selection for breakfast lunch and dinner. They have drinks and dessert. Also, they have more desserts in their bakery next-door than what they offer on their menu. I say anything that you took your will be really good everything my table got was super flavorful. I would definitely come back to try every item on their menu.

We were passing through Miami on a very long drive home and thought 3:30 pm on a Sunday afternoon would be an okay time to visit Versailles. Wrong. Despite being a Miami institution (& arguably an "American Classic" ) their waitlist system desperately needs improvement. They need to alert guests by text instead of calling names (w/ no amplification) beside a very busy street. After waiting 1.5 hours, our food was as good as we expected (Chicken Versailles, Imperial Chicken & Midnight Sandwiches) but the service was a surprise. Our Server clocked out without notice after delivering our order. Her minimally apologetic replacement was deeply "in the weeds" so getting water or a check was almost impossible. All things considered....we'll regrettably go elsewhere next time.

I love cuban food and I love what Versailles stands for by the quality is horrible now. Every year it gets worst and worst. It's used to be delicious cheap eats now even the plantains come out rock hard, old and burnt. Very disappointed even the pastelitos are not fresh anymore take a like an old piece of bread.

This place was amazing! The wait was not as long as expected and the prices were very very good for the food. The shrimp paella was by far my favorite thing, and all the plantains were extremely tasty. The ambiance was quite loud and lively! Amazing vibe and great food

I know you have read it before, but Don't,Don't , Don't miss this restaurant! There is a reason there is a line out the door and a one hour wait! The food here is so good . Very authentic Cuban food. Our server Wilma helped us with the menu and deciding what we wanted. I had the "Classic " which had large chunks of pork, picadillo, ham croquette, tamale and rice&beans. Delicious! No matter how good it is, don't forget to leave room for dessert. The flan and tres leches cake was unbelievably good as well. The prices are very reasonable and the service was excellent. Glad I live on the west coast . If I live within 100 miles of this place, I would have to eat here once a week.

During our stay in Miami, this restaurant was highly recommended on our walk through Calle Ocho. We waited for about 5 minutes and walked into a huge dining area and were seated by the windows. It was a little cold as we were right under the vents. Waiter was pretty attentive. And food was 5/5, delicious, affordable, and provided a great way for us to try Cuban food! The total for 4 people was less than $80, and we were stuffed!

Boy what an Institution of Eating! My 13 year old daughter selected this place for dinner and what a great meal it was! Food was fresh and service was prompt and courteous. I tried the Seafood au gratin which was heaped with a generous mixture of shrimp, clams, calamari, monkfish lobster in a homemade cheese souse. Served with hot buttered garlic bread which was delicious as well. Highly recommended!
