Mediocre food. Tagliatelle pasta should've been more al dente and lacked flavor. The Brussels sprout salad needed acid. On top of it, we had a really condescending and inattentive waiter.We visited on Saturday for lunch. Perhaps we got the B team of maybe it was a off day for Via Carota but I won't be back to find out. There are better, more consistent restaurants in the city.

Our server Janice and her support Alejandro were so caring and attentive. They were there at the right moments and so professional yet put you at ease at the same time. The food was a star as well with the Cacio Pepe and the grilled sea bream cooked to perfection. I want to take the insalata verde salad dressing home with me. Also the Negroni terra was my favorite of the variations on the menu.

Had really high hopes for this place but the pasta was pretty average. We were seated outside and honestly felt rushed and not cared for. Mid way through our meal two rats ran across our feet which ruined the night a bit. We walked in for a weekday lunch and was able to get seated immediately on the "communal table' (a long table that can fit 12 but it didn't feel packed). The restaurant was busy for a weekday! The servers were attentive and checked in with us but not to the point that it was over bearing. As for the foodSalad was delicious and tasted super fresh! I would say it is overpriced for what it is though and I don't need to order it again.Cacio pepe was the star of our meal! It was al dente and buttery. Perfect in every way and had the right amount of pepper. Even though the dish appeared small it was filling. Wild boar ragu pappardelle was a bit on the dry side. Wish it had more sauce.Affogato was delicious! Expresso was very fresh and the gelato was delicious!Will definitely be back to try other stuff!

Waited 30 minutes for an 8:45PM reservation with no apologies from the rude hostess and when asked about it, she said you came at 8:50PM which is besides the point. The grilled artichoke and Cacio e Pepe were decent but the food overall was underwhelming. The portions were small and expensive. Will not be coming back.

My girlfriend and I made our third visit to New York this year (yay Southwest Companion Pass!) and I signed up for the waitlist on Resy a couple days before our arrival. We were fortunate to get a notice for a 2pm outside patio table as we were taking the bus shuttle from LaGuardia. Upon arrival we were further excited to have our outside patio table upgraded to an inside table which made the experience so much better. The service was friendly and efficient and the food (carpaccio, cacio de pepe) was excellent. Sitting two tables away from an actor we both greatly admire made the experience even more wonderful. NY!!!

I've tried several popular Italian restaurants in the city, and Via Carota was the best recently (my second favorite was Misi in Brooklyn). Via Carota not only makes fantastic pastas, but also it has lots of other choices for balance, like meats and vegetables. My favorite non-pasta dish was the Radicchio Treviso - which is grilled radicchio, with some soft goat cheese on the bottom and pine nuts on the top. It was super delicious!! Many restaurants have great salad, but barely has great cooked veggies.Speaking of pasta, I ordered gorgonzola gnocchi and my friend ordered mushroom ragu stracci - the latter one was not on the regular menu, it was a special dish. Both of them were super nice!! I was going to order cacio e pepe, but had a craving for gorgonzola so I decided to try how it goes with gnocchi, and it turned out to be a delightful surprise! And mushroom stracci was also nice! The only thing that was not perfect was the stracci pasta sticked together a little bit - it didn't affect the overall experience, but could've been done better.The fried green olives with pork was also great! Never tried this kind of combination and I liked it!Last but not least - the dessert! They have too many dessert choices and I wanted to try them all - too bad I only have one stomach lol. Finally we ordered zabaione and coffee affogato. I liked them both! They were not super heavy or sweet, so they were perfectly balanced.Finally I want to mention the services. Before I came here, I saw some reviews saying they were famous for rude services, but my experience was great. Our waitress and other staff were far away from "rude". They were super nice and considerate. When we ordered, we were too hungry so we ordered much more than we could eat, so in the middle of the meal, we asked our waiter if we could cancel the rest dishes that had not been served yet, and she very kindly did it for us.Overall all, I loved Via Carota and will definitely come back soon.

I went with a buddy and grabbed a reservation a month in advance through Resy, and given how notoriously difficult it is to get a reservation, I had high expectations coming in. The staff was great and prompt, and the ambiance was very nice inside and a little posh which gives it a cool vibe. The food was good - I got a few dishes with some corresponding pictures below:Arancini: not pictured below, but these were really really good. Light and crispy with chili oil inside gave it a very nice kick to the creaminess of the filling.Cacio e Pepe: I've seen so many reviews claiming the best in the city, but this was so so and not worth getting again imo. The noodles were very very firm, and there was too much butter. Not for me unfortunately.Tagliatelle: this was a very unique take on a tagliatelle inspired dish and I honestly was impressed, even tho it was heavy again on the butter. The dish itself was like a butter cream sauce with prosciutto on top (the prosciutto was definitely imported btw because it basically melted in your mouth), with parmesan sprinkled on top. What made this unique was the use of nutmeg in the sauce which gave it an aromatic bite that reminded me of like a fall dish - very cool, and I would probably get it again.Pappardelle: another classic, this was the best dish imo. This came with a boar ragu that tasted very similar to an osso buco like dish - with the Parmesan balancing it out the dish was very well rounded and the noodles were great (you can tell they're homemade too based on the texture, delicious!).All in all, it came out to about $120 after tip with no drinks, so it's right in the price range of the nice Italian restaurants in the city (arguably with a bigger portion size than rezdora for example). I think this gets in between a 4 and a 5 on yelp only because of the cacio e pepe, which again as usual is overhyped in nyc. Still very solid Italian food and if I could somehow score a res again I would def come back.

We come to New York 2 to 3 times a year and on each trip we make a point to dine here. We ventured out on Super Bowl Sunday knowing the restaurants in New York would be quiet. Our party of 3 was able to get in without a wait. Our server was very pleasant however she forgot to tell us the specials and we only realized at the end of our meal when we heard another server explain it to their guests. Our trips to Via Carota were always for the pastas. On this visit, we had the Tonnarelli Cacio Pepe and the Pappardelle Wild Boar Ragu. The Tonnarelli lacked flavor and had no pepper taste, just a plate of cheese pasta. The Boar Ragu was tough and bland. We left the ragu on the plate and ate the pasta. Both pasta portions were smaller than usual. The Panissa - fried chickpea was delicious. A very pleasant surprise as we had no idea what to expect. Very disappointing trip after so many wonderful visits. Sadly this will not be our go to restaurant in New York anymore. A lot of money to spend for below average pastas.

Via Carota is a pleasant, rustic, West Village restaurant. Nothing more, nothing less. Sadly, as it becomes more and more overrated, the expectation for it to be more than a local Italian, will make the experience increasingly disappointing. In my experience the staff have always been helpful, patient and charming. The food is traditional and the portions generous but add in the price of the wine list & the restaurant has also become quite expensive. Its no longer my choice for a restaurant but invariably is for many of my friends who seem wedded to it so make of that what you wish.

The drinks were very good and so were the meatball. however the tagliatelle was overcooked and tasted like mush. If you can't cook pasta don't call yourself an Italian restaurant.

In the neighbourhood doing touristy stuff (selfieng at the Friends house) we stumbled upon Via Carota. Pure serendipity for us... But it needn't be for you if you read this. We were lucky, I found out afterwards, our wait for a table was limited to some 10 minutes max for a Saturday lunch. But now I know I would happily wait for an hour or more to be seated here with friends & family again. Andrea was our waitress... sharing food tips, smiles and jokes and we immediately felt at home. If I had known beforehand we were in for some exquisite treats I would have ordered some good wine. However we thought it was gonna be a no expectations quick lunch, so just had some refreshing drinks (I think I had some kind of icetea) and water. So I can't share anything about the wine. But the food... the food is to die for :) A first bite from the Nduja Arancini and I knew it was going to be a great lunch... We shared these with the table alongside of the Panissa and the Carciofi alla Griglia. My main course was one of the daily specials, so not on the menu: Frittata. But I tasted the Carote and Tonnarelli cacio pepe as well and at each bite wished I had ordered these as well. In short when In New York go to the West Village and pray the queu is doable because you don not want to leave New York without haven eaten here. I hate people telling me it's a must. Life is not about must do things. Life is about sharing the good things. So I wanted to share this gem with you so for you it doesn't have to be serendipity. Were I to live in NY, I would be eating the Tonnarelli cacio pepe at least once a week, at least... :)

An Italian lunch to remember

Very good food, very nice atmosphere. The tables were a little crowded - family style - and the chairs were low to the table. Initially, the menu seemed a little sparse, with only 4 pasta dishes, which is unusual for an Italian restaurant. However, there were specials and the servings were quite large. We were three people and had vitello tonnato, carrots with spiced yoghurt and pistachios, and Brussels sprouts with pecorino, walnuts, and apple as appetizers. The portions were very large and we took home most of the sprouts and carrots. Our main courses were two pappardelle with wild boar ragu and one tonnarelli cacio pepe. The servings were deceptive, coming in smallish bowls, but they were certainly enough, especially at lunch. The pasta was al dente and the wild boar ragu, in particular, was very good. For dessert we had one panna cotta and two zabaglioni with berries. The panna cotta was a surprise, being drizzled with olive oil and orange marmalade. Very tasty. The zabaglioni was served over fresh blackberries and raspberries and was decadent and delicious. All in all, a very good experience.

A great last evening meal in NYC, having returned from Ellis Island and wandered up to Greenwich, we were ready for a drink and supper. Bedford St and Grove St were oozing the Greenwich charm and a queue suggested Via Carota may be the place to go. Wonderful Arancini Well chosen wines Delightful cuttlefish Delicious Tagliatelle A tasty and generous artichoke salad Finished off with a sublime custard and berries and a Manhattan! Once was ok, all other visits were just bad. The service lacks warmth and hospitality. Its also slow and inattentive. The food is really sub-par. Occasionally I've had a dish like, for example on my one good visit I really enjoyed the watermelon salad (Cocomero) and I had a nice grilled Sea Bream. But those are the only two items I recall liking in particular and I wouldn't say either are worth running back for. And of course its all very expensive! Poor service, food that mostly misses, and expensive - big thumbs down. I think the food is the most important part but if the service and general experiance of eating here was better I'd have given it 3 stars.

After a couple attempts we finally got a table outside around 5pm on a very very hot Tuesday. Service got better as the evening went on since we really liked this one guy who ended up taking the table from another waitress? She seemed very cranky and suggested we ordered things on the menu that were expensive options only, which comes off kinda insincere. Ok onto food- we ordered cocktails to start and waiter immediately ordered Zucchini Fritti for us- yum! Great to share with cocktails! We then ordered Burrata (very small sadly) and the Carciofi alla Griglia (grilled artichokes with aioli)- this was delish! They are known for artichoke dishes so I would recommend you try one! Yum. We then shared the Tagliatelle (with prosciutto/peas) - pasta was good! We liked the meal.. not sure it's worth waiting over an hour though? Glad to finally check this off the list!!

The Leafy Green Salad and Artichokes w/ Aioli are an absolute must. While it may seem extravagant to spend $21 on a salad. Each leaf feels like it was hand picked for your bowl and carries the perfect amount of dressing. NOTE: It can be a bit challenging to eat--the leaves are piled sky high, well-oiled, and plentiful--so if you're with someone with whom you'd like to think you are graceful (dates, employers, etc), I recommend something less challenging like the Cacio E Pepe (also fantastic) Ambiance is wonderful--the bar is particularly beautiful and the pew-style chairs with menu cubbies give Italian catholic school. The staff is very friendly (even when they tell you the wait is 3+ hours, which can be hard to pull off!). Getting seated is objectively impressive and the lack of reservation enhances the experience. After all, patience is a virtue.

( rude doorman) on a Sunday afternoon. Ordered caccio e Pepe. Pasta was soggy and had too much kraft ? Parmesan. It felt like it was a warmed up leftover with some garlic oil. This is the second time I’ve sat at the bar here and I didn’t like either experience. The bartender doesn’t really have the time of day to answer questions. For starters I got calamari and a mushroom, not knowing each was big enough for three or four people. It would’ve been nice if the bartender would’ve mentioned how big the portions were. Then I had a pasta which was the right size, thank god, the food was good, the wine was good, but the service was unpleasant. There are so many good places in the West Village where they are happy to have you as a customer I see no point of going to a place where people treat you like you’re at the DMV. The food was good but it was not spectacular. I’ve noticed in a few places in New York where places have expanded their capacity with all the outdoor seating now allowed and as a result the service has gone down considerably. Perhaps once one of the reasons it was so bad here I don’t know.

We arrived at 5 pm and they gave us ur table at 5:15 it was a little waiting but it was a really nice aérea so it was really confortable, we had Juan Carlos as the waitress and he gave us a wonderful experience and service! Really kind and gentle!! The food was amazing, i would recommend the Parppadelle and the Tonnarelli, so delicious!! For appetizer the calamari were amazing.

We got here with my Mom for lunch on early Friday afternoon and the place was packed. It’s a very popular spot and we now know why! The food was excellent, from the perfectly backed bread to fresh olive oil to freshest salad and awesomely grilled octopus. We enjoyed outside lunching with much good vibe and people watching. It’s a special pleasure to eat well and watch beautiful ladies walking by looking hungry! Lol. Enjoy!

Reservations are hard to come by because they save most of their tables for walk-ins, so go early (probably like 5/5:30pm depending on the day) to put your name down on the waitlist. Walk across to Bar Pisellino to have a cocktail until you're called. Congratulate yourself because you've just nailed date night in the WV. You can't go wrong with ordering, everything is great, so just pick whatever your heart desires :)

I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.

Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!

Money transfer

As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.

Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?

Best Answer It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

Best Answer Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.

Best Answer Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.

Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?

Best Answer Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

What happens if my bid expires unanswered?

Best Answer Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
