This is a great place! Wasn't too busy on the Monday we came here. My manager got me a nice gift card to the Union Square Hospitality group and we decided to come here. Its a very classy and chill bar. Bartenders are super attentive, refill water and the food came out quickly. Also tip is included in the price! $100 got us dinner for 2 and 3 drinks. Yes they are small sharable plates but we got enough where we were full.My favorite dish was the bread. Its focaccia with tomatoes and stracciatella which I was told was the end of the mozzarella cheese as they make it. That cheese is so mild and gooey and delicious. The bread is slightly toasted, thick but airy with the holes it has and they put the right ratio of sea salt and olive oil. It was so good we got 2!I also loved the fried artichokes. Which were pan fried. I never had fried artichokes and they were crispy and also delicious. The special was Branzino. 15 dollars for a decent sized piece. It was cooked perfectly and was very moist and flaky. And the skin with crispy. The seafood misto was also very good. Just the right amount of salt and the fried breading was actually very light. This is a wine bar but honestly I felt the cocktails were better. I only had one glass of wine, Lambrusco. And it was okay, i liked it. But when I tried my boyfriends cocktail, the Ciao Mela, I was like wow that's very good. It was sweet and apple tasting but also strong and smooth. Then I ordered the Sicilian Sweetheart. They really knocked it out of the park. Best cocktail I've had in a while. I like almond flavored things so I liked this but it was also bitter and citrusy at the same time. I will definitely be coming back again. Eating more stracciatella bread and Sicilian sweetheart cocktails. Great place to bring clients or a date. There is also a Italian restaraunt and pizza place in the back along with the hotel bar and the cafe. All food places in here are owned by the union square hospitality group. A+++++

Vini e Fritti has been my go-to for happy hour if I can get there before 6pm (which is not typical). While I love the style of the bar and think the snacks are all great, my past two experiences at this bar left me feeling very unsatisfied by the level of service. I've always noticed that the waitstaff is a little stuffy, but I never felt they were that bad until now. I went with my best friend who I hadn't seen in months, and we made it there well before the end of happy hour. We both ordered an aperol spritz and some of the snacks featured on their happy hour menu. After finishing our first drink, our first waitress was pretty prompt in asking whether we'd like another round. We decided yes. However, this is when things started taking a turn. Before we had finished our second drinks, another waitress came over and asked if we needed anything. We said that we were good and didn't need anything. We still hadn't finished our drinks when a few minutes later she came over with the check. We were surprised since we hadn't asked for it and we weren't ready to leave. We would have had another drink if she hadn't brought it over. We decided not to pay right away because we weren't finished - mind you, we looked around the restaurant and saw that there were several open seats/tables and no one waiting around for something to open up, so we weren't in anyone's way. Then, as we were sitting and talking, the waitress came over, looked at the bill (with no cards on top), and decided to pick it up and shake it in front of us...I kid you not. She put it back down and walked away looking annoyed. We decided to just pay and leave at that point, since we felt rushed and didn't feel like dealing with that type of service any longer. Finally, after we had paid, we sat for just a minute to finish our waters and put on our coats. In that short amount of time, another member of the waitstaff who looked like a manager, came over and asked if we needed anything else, as if to say "You paid, so please leave." Even if he hadn't realized we had paid, it was a little late for someone to ask if we wanted anything else. We were really disappointed with the way we were rushed out, and if I hadn't had similar experiences in the recent past I would say it was just a fluke, but I'm not sure I plan on giving them another chance at this point.
Be the first to ReplyI really like this place.
Happy hour wines are ย and the small eats are great. Have always been given great serving by everyone till tonight. And still it was just one person. They serve flatbreads but when I asked for chili flakes, I was told by the very unfriendly and inattentive bartender, Aliya, that ย they had none. I had eaten at Marta just the previous week (plus what Italian place doesn't have chili flakes???) so I asked if they cd get some from there since it's down the hall. No dice. I asked the manager and he didn't hesitate. Says a lot about a place when the manager is willing to provide the kind of customer service a bartender won't. It's unfair to all the other staff when one person ruins it. So I'd like to mention that the other lady behind the bar was attentive and extremely polite and kind. Management, please take note. People like Aliya have no business working at an establishment that prides itself on its service.

I went to Vini late on a Wednesday post-happy hour and it did not disappoint. The establishment is classy and warm. There are 6-7 sitting tables for dining, one long standing table and ample room at the bar. We ordered: Bucatini Cacio e Pepe (fried Mac and cheese balls), Baby Artichokes (fried bite sized pieces), Gem Lettuce Caesar Bottarga (4 small hearts of romaine topped with finely grated cheese) and Beef Tartare Parmigiano Perigord Truffle (white mixture with finely grated truffle served with 5-6 pieces of crispy bread). I didn't try everything (vegetarian), but it was an overall pleasant dining experience. The portions are small and meant to be shared. The staff was excellent (shoutout to Diego) and attentive. This is a hidden gem, perfect place to catch up with friends while nibbling on some yummy food.

Do I think there is room for improvement? Of course, there always is. But for the most part I really liked it. We stopped in at 5:55 and the waiter still let us order off the happy hour menu (even though this meant our food and drinks were delivered post 6) - love that for us. I'm one of those annoying b*tches who isn't satisfied with just a spritzer, wine, or beer, so I ordered a tequila drink off the menu which was delicious. I limited myself and just ordered a tequila soda for the next drink. It was a long, enjoyable girls night. We sat there until 9:30 at a high top table. I do feel like there could have been more high top tables throughout the room. Space is pretty limited if it gets crowded. It was a Tuesday night, so it didn't but I imagine that it could on the weekend, especially since this place is connected to a hotel. I think the waiter could've stopped by to take my second drink order a little sooner. I actually approached him because I was curious where the bathroom was. You have to actually exit the mini restaurant space to get to the hotel lobby restroom, but it's not far away.I wouldn't consider ambience to be great - nothing incredible or amazing, but also not too loud in there, even when the crowd grew which I appreciate. There are hooks to hang your various bags and coats underneath the table which is a nice bonus. Not a nice enough bonus to earn a 4th star but I digress.Food-wise, everything was very good. We ordered everything from the white bean hummus to the roasted chick peas, fried mushrooms, calamari, and stratitichella (sp?) cheese on bread - if anything, I would just comment on the general saltiness of everything. Even the anchovy dip on the veggie plate was very, very salty. Fingers were bloated instantly but that doesn't bother me or refrain me from eating. I didn't used to notice this but now I have a ring on my left hand that I have to take off at the end of the night and when it calls for a lot of effort I realize about the salt. Future husband started texting me where are you at like 9 (which is basically 12am to him) so I'm sure he checked if I wore my engagement ring to dinner or wondered if I was at a male strip club. Oh wait he isn't me.I think the fried tempura mushrooms were my favorite on the menu - looking back at everything we ordered I can't say there was anything that was SO brilliant I would go again you know? But the company was awesome and I think that's what made this place better. As long as you go with friends you're in good, bloated hands.

Time Visited: 7:00pm Wait Time: They don't take a reservation. I showed up at 6:50pm and was lucky to grab space for 3. The place was practically full and by 7:15 on a weekday there was already quite a wait to be seated. Food: We got the combo platter, potato pancakes, and calamaris. The combo platter had a nice mix of cheese and cured meats but my favorite part was the sticky honey that had the perfect texture. We also ordered a bottle of red wine and all in it came out to about $40 pax for three of us. Vibe: I came here with two other friends and we enjoyed great catch up over wine, cheese, and meats. Heads up that they don't receive tips as hospitality is baked into the menu prices.

We had a great experience here sitting at the bar with our bartender Zach. He walked us through all our options for a great selection of wines. The happy hour was a steal with a bright, fresh Proseco and a great selection of snacks--a full plate of many choices for only $10. ย Great prices on beer and a sprtiz too. The atmosphere and staff were warm and welcoming. Decor very much transporting you to Europe. Stellar service at a steal!

Danny Meyer, just take my money!!!!!!!Located right next door to Marta, this little place has very minimal seating room, but offers standing tables to eat all of the little delights that'll bring joy to your evening.I gotta be honest, I don't even remember half the things we ordered, but it was delish. The arancini was my fave and we ended up getting two orders. We also got the burrata which was good, but unfortunately the bread was a tiny bit stale. Like I said, I don't remember all the food we got, but it was mostly very good. If you're in the area, check this place out.
Be the first to ReplyGreat bar.
My husband enjoyed the amaro tasting and the bartender was impressively knowledgeable about it. The donuts were good too. The fried muschrooms were a little too salty. The service was amazing and it was a pleasant suprised to learn when we got the check that it was a non tipping restaurant. The prices are very reasonable.
