This restaurant's food and service was awesome. Look nice from the outside and the Persian cuisine was mouth watering.

What a lovely Persian restaurant! Kabobs, lamb, oh my gosh it's amazing. The cocktails are amazing and the staff are so so friendly. We will be back soon!
Be the first to ReplyHappened in due to location - enjoyed the experience!
We were in town for an event happening across the street from restaurant (Dupont Circle Area) and came out to a brief rainshower so stopped into Vintage 78. Could not recall ever dining in a Persian restaurant before and were glad we tried it.
We found the service to be friendly, the menu interesting and the meal was very good. The dolme's were probably not my favorite, the Rock Fish was quite good and nicely prepared as was the veal short rib. Next time I would like to try some of the other items.
First Persian experience and
First Persian experience and was very glad I tried it. Service was great good selection and prices. Great flavors. Bread and appetizers were outstanding.

I really enjoyed the Rose Manhattan as well as the fesenjoon (meatballs with walnut and pomgranate). Food was great, service also great.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious cuisine, good service, warm setting
This restaurant serves very good Persian cuisine. My friend and I enjoyed our dishes very much. The Quaymeh was delicious. We were welcomed warmly and the servers were very attentive. We came for Sunday brunch and were concerned that there would be limited choices, but the menu was nonetheless highly varied, with many Persian dishes available. It was not crowded at noon, and the outside heated patio was really pleasant. I will definitely come back again to try the other dishes, given the lack of Persian restaurants in central DC.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious, cozy when not crowded
Three of us dined on a Friday evening. Edged in under happy hour at the bar to score $6 glasses of excellent wine. The atmosphere is cozy, with low ceilings and warm colors. All of our dishes were delicious. Two points to consider: low lighting means you aren't seeing the food; when the restaurant is crowded (full on a Friday), it was SO LOUD that we could not enjoy conversation at our back corner table. Our server started out extremely knowledgable and ended up being very forgetful (had to ask for bread, knife replacement after she took ours after appetizers, never checked back after main course delivered). I would return for happy hour at the bar. I gave it 4 stars for the food, and would lower to 3 based on ambient noise levels, low lighting and server inattentiveness.
Be the first to ReplyChic atmosphere, different cuisine
Not having any experience with Persian cuisine, this was different for me, but all was good in terms of preparation and flavor and presentation. The menu was flush with what I understand are typical kinds of dishes, but some prepared a little differently, which in my case was great. I tried pistachio soup and Karafs (braised beef rib), which were both great and offered some new tastes to add to my palate. I enjoyed the traditional Iranian dishes in the company of long time colleagues and friends. I recommend giving them a try - be open to new flavors and cuisine whenever you can!
Be the first to ReplyDull food in an uninviting space
Vintage 78 is as authenitically Persian as its name would suggest -- which is to say not at all. In fact, had the word "Persian" not been stenciled into the window for all to see, I'd have guessed the dull eggplant, bland short ribs, salty fish and flavorless rice we were eating were nothing more than average American food.
The so-called "modern setting" was cold, uninviting, and looked like it had been inherited from whatever restaurant previously occupied the space.
Service was helpful and friendly, which is the only compliment I can pay this place.
