Cool thai restaurant
Good thai food in nice atmosphere. We were placed at bar, due to late booking. Was totally fine. We ordered ribs, curry, salad, all excellent.

We were referred to this place by another restaurant that could not accommodate us. When we arrived, we were offered a small table in the upstairs restaurant part. (There is also seating in a covered area on the street/sidewalk.) We ended up sitting in the window bar which was fantastic! (Down the stairs…) Great for people watching, out of the way of people traffic & close to the bar. We sat on bar stools & there were hooks for our jackets & bags. Excellent date night spot. The vibe was cool & energetic. Cocktails are fire, just a bit small in size. Try at least one and go from there. Even mocktails were tasty. Menu has excellent choices for those with dietary preferences. Just ask your server for guidance. Do you like spice? This is the place for you! Portions are perfect. If you’re trying something for the first time, share a plate and go from there. This is a great place for a food adventure. Every item we tried was better than expected. Food is served faaaast so bring your appetite.

Had the pork meatballs and the Branzino. Both came extremely recommended and both were extremely disappointing. The food was dry and dull. Was expecting much better

We sat outside in a tent and it was cold and on folding chairs. we have reserved ahead on Resy with Amex preferred so much for preference! The food was not that good but the servers were pleasant. I would not go back and i would not recommend it. We were really disappointed given all the rave reviews everyone else had.

Wayla was a wonderful surprise for a Saturday afternoon. Our server Chaney Andre was FANTASTIC. We were a party of 7 that had a lot of questions. Chaney knew both the drink and food menus inside and out. He knew everything about the appetizers and the entrees and made great recommendations. His GREAT service made our meal very enjoyable. On top of the awesome service, the food was outstanding! This was my first go at real Thai food and every dish he brought out was delicious. HIGHLY recommend Wayla. Small, comfortable setting.

When you spend 40 dollars in food and they can’t give you a plastic cup because they don’t have enough, you have found the worst service

Really enjoyed our meal here. The bbq beef and the crab fried rice were amazing. Craft drinks were all great too. Staff was super friendly.

Really nice place we stumbled onto. We are outside in one of their heated private booths, pretty cool. Literally cool, wear a sweater. They have some nice signature cocktail as. The Island of Smiles was nice. I suggest dining family style here so you can try the different dishes. For starters, the calamari was a hit. They also made a skewer with impossible meat that was pretty delicious. For mains, the lobster noodles (Sen Chan Pad) was decadent. The short ribs (Tom Zabb Nua) are an excellent choice. They have several vegetarian options as well. Would definitely come back. Large portions.

Came in for a late Saturday brunch at around 2:30 pm. I had been wanting to try this place for a while but the lunch menu is different than the dinner menu. My friend who had visited for dinner before said the dinner service is much better with more options, so I'll definitely have to come back for that. Here is everything we ordered to share:
Moo Sarong (crispy noodle wrapped pork meatball) - this was probably my favorite. It was perfectly fried, and I love a good pork meatball (or any meatball, really)
Grilled Tofu Pad Thai - this was pretty basic. The noodles were kind of broken up into pieces
Pad Prik Khing - wok-fried long beans in a galangal chili paste - we needed some veggies, and this was the perfect option. It was flavorful and not overly spicy
Peek Gai Tod (chicken wings glazed with plum sauce) - these were fine. Nothing great but nothing bad about it
Pla Muk Tod (fried calamari) - I loved the creamy avocado dip that it was served with. I could have slathered this on everything
Maa's Gaeng Pak (yellow coconut curry) - this was probably my second favorite dish. But it was all veggies - I could have used some protein in it
Crab omelet - this was a kind of oily (which is expected since it's a fried omelet) but I always appreciate when they have this on the menu because they don't serve it at a lot of places
For drinks, I had some non-alcoholic pear/ginger drink, which was amazing. My only complaint is that it was mostly ice so I probably could have drank like five of these.
Overall, it was a good first Wayla experience. It seems like lunch options are more vegetarian heavy but I can't wait to come back for dinner to try that menu and order some more moo sarong!
Great Food. Service is Rushed and Not Friendly.
Best Thai I’ve had in a long time. Calamari is great. Lobster pad Thai is great. Service seems rushed and unfriendly. Sit in the outdoor patio.

If you want a unique Thai restaurant experience in NYC, make a reservation at Wayla! This charming restaurant with a hidden basement style entrance is located near Chinatown/Lower East Side area. I was impressed as soon as I walked in with the decor and ambience. Most amazing is the food - rich in flavor and spice! I enjoyed the mushroom curry (one of their daily curry specials) , with a side of red rice along with a specialty cocktail. Make a reservation here...you won’t be disappointed!

Wayla is such a great restaurant choice. It’s attractive, has great service and delicious spicy Thai food. I loved the lobster and noodles, the spicy shrimp- the hottest dish on the menu and the papaya salad. And the cocktails-make sure to try one of the signature ones. The only issues you must make a reservation and be alert when you walk down Forsyth Street. The restaurant isn’t on the street level and you need to walk down several steps.

Found it walking on the street.
Very good thai food. Even this is New York, prices were not crazy. The waitstaff very attentive.
Sharing Is Caring
A friend and I were talking about a vacation she is planning to Thailand while we thought of a place we'd like to eat at for dinner. Since we were on the topic of Thailand, it was fitting we would go out to eat Thai Cuisine.
The restaurant is easy to miss if you are not paying attention. We walked down some steep steps and immediately saw how popular it is. We were greeted right away and told how long the wait would be (1 hour) but the host was nice enough to suggest a few places in the area to have some drinks while we waited for their call. The wait was only 30 minutes and we returned promptly.
The seating was comfortable and the smell of tasty food was in the air. The staff knew the answers to all of our questions about the food and drinks. They made great suggestions on how to order and assisted with what to order. It was a great experience and we had not even tasted the food yet.
We ordered a few dishes to share as recommended and enjoyed every single bite.. The standout was the lump-crab fried rice, steak and homemade ice cream for dessert. We were checked on frequently and felt so at ease, we didn't realize the restaurant was closing.
It was an amazing experience and everyone should eat here at least once.
