Great food, a little work needed on presentation
Went for lunch early the restaurant opens at 11:30 on weekdays despite what some web searches indicate. No issue getting seating even though I was alone. It started to get more crowded after Noon but not overwhelming. Ordered the roti canai and the fish head curry. No issues ordering despite server’s limited English. Food came out fast and was as delicious as the other reviewers have said. Would definitely recommend both these dishes. My only nit is that the fish head did not come floating in the soup as shown on the menu but had instead sunk toward the bottom. Otherwise , great!
Be the first to ReplyBest Satay I've Had. Period.
The satay is like crack. I got the tofu version but I am sure all versions are wonderful. The laksa I am used to is call a "curry" soup. The waiters helped me choose the correct one. It was also delicious.
Be the first to ReplyFavorite restaurant in the world. I’ve been going for decades.
. My favorite restaurant in the world for over 35 years. The food here is actually as good or better than Malaysia because Malaysia food has lost a lot of its originality. Too many malls amd fast food versions. Here I Always get roti, kway teow, Singapore ice, chendol, satay, etc.

Great value for money - offers a wide selection of Malaysian cuisine. Without a doubt, my favorite entree is the whole fried fish with spicy (black bean?) sauce.

Waiter was very aggressive from the time we sat down. We have never eaten here and of course had questions about the menu which seem to annoy him. Once our food came out one of the ladies tasted it while he stood there and she said "I'm sorry this is not what I was expecting my I order something else. He grabbed her plate and dumped the food in the trash & came back with the menu for her to reorder. I think this was very unprofessional. When we got the bill he still charged her for the meal that she did not eat. When she questioned it he threw his arms up and said "you ordered it". I would never recommend this restaurant.

We found this restaurant after a recommendation from our hotel concierge. It serves fantastic curry dishes that are full of flavour. The roti is amazing and we also had the beef brisket curry - yum!!

Nothing to rave about since their roti canai was not very impressive. Goto Flushing to eat at Papa Rich for true flakey roti canai. Here was thick and overly chewy hard to chew through. The sweet and sour Thai fish dish served at a Malaysian restaurant was average. I’m going to stick with my typical Malaysian restaurants that I am used to.

Nice restaurant where you can find Asian cuisine less known than Chinese... Malaysian. Tastes are very similar if you wish to be on the safe side, although you can also be an adventurer and try the more typical Malaysian cooking. We had both Chichen fried rice, spring rolls and shrimps with peppers deep fried. All nice and delicious. Chicken dumplings were also nice and the sweet and sour chicken rich and strong. A nice discovery in Chinatown. The staff is professional and friendly and portions are very generous. Difficult to find, as it is in a passage between two streets around Bowery and Canal streets. Many locals, a good sign of real Asian cooking.

My family has been coming here since they opened over 35 years ago. My husband & I have been coming here for the past 23 years. The recipes are still the same as I remembered from when I was a kid. You cannot go wrong with anything that you order here. We usually order the roti canai, beef & chicken satay with the delicious peanut sauce, Singapore fried rice noodles, crispy orange beef & the salt & pepper shrimp. Everything is fresh & authentic. We leave here completely satisfied. The staff are friendly & efficient.
Give this place a try, I guarantee you will not be disappointed!
