Superb.
Very high end dining, quality service, delicious and comforting food and an extensive drinks list - the cocktail list in particular was impressive! The interior is ok - dark wood panelling adds to the quiet and quite calm atmosphere. Looks a little old fashioned if I was being overly critical. Service was good. After initially being told I'd missed my chance for lunch (I'd arrived at 1.40ish, with it closing at 2), I was chased down the path to be told I was in! Sat in the bar area and ordered my lunchtime pisco sour - only live once eh? It was delicious, as good as I've had. Perfect frothiness and the sourness was perfectly balanced.Lunch itself was a delight! Crispy soft shell crab (always a winner in my book) to start was honestly incredible, 100% delicious with lovely South East Asian flavours. Almost had a massaman curry type sauce with it. Venison for main, perfectly pink and accompanied with lovely veg and a fantastic jus. The parsnip purée was the star though - the smoothest mash I've possibly ever had and sooooo tasty!Well worth the reassuringly expensive price tag, and definitely worth a visit for lunch or dinner!

Very professional staff and high level of service that we unfortunately find intrusive. We had the two courses for 16P lunch deal:* A beetroot and ginger soup* a game (rabbit and pigeon) terrine with pickle shallots and watercress * roast sirloin of beef (3P supplement) * roast leg of lamb The soup and terrine were exquisite. The beetroot was finely cooked. The meat was good as the Yorkshire puddings. Best horse radish sauce I had so far.

We had a group dinner. Service was just ok and location a bit worn and loud. Lentils were amazing
Be the first to ReplyThe food here is really very good on the whole.
I have eaten here on quite a few occasions I would say nine times out of ten it is excellent. I did send one dish back on a Sunday as the meat was prosoma rely stringy fat but it was rectified very quickly. The BIG DOWN SIDE with this place is the add 12% to your bill and when you are paying upwards of £26 for a main that is on the small side it just leaves a bit of a sour taste at the end of the night when everything you have had including pre drinks and table wine is subject to this 12% tax. You can ask them to remove it from your bill and on a couple of times I have but I think it should be left to the customer to tip rather than feeling pressured. I for one would eat here more often if they didn't add it on the bill as a matter of course. Service is always really good so from that point they must be congratulated for such an accomplishment in this day and age.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food and outstanding service in this small town.
It was hard to find good restaurants in Nottingham. This one really stands out. Service was the best during our trip to London and Nottingham. The waiter was excellent. From the manners, the way he carried drinks, poured the drinks, always smiling, we could tell that he was well-trained. All food items were delicious - especially the dessert that had pistachios. Will come back if we ever go back to Nottingham.
Be the first to ReplyStill a Beautiful restaurant as I remembered.
The atmosphere is very nice. Candle lit large waiting area for group to sit and have a pre-dinner drink while waiting. The wine and cocktail list is decent. Food is American style and delicious.

Good service from polite courteous staff, they were tentative and alert to what we wanted. The food, the starters were simple, nice, rich and tasty. As for the main, I had a Derbyshire Beef fillet, it was simply fantastic! I asked for it to be Medium-rare as it can be hit and miss one way or the other at some places, but I have to say it was just perfect! Just tender pieces of beef cooked to perfection! The veg complemented the dish well with a tasty sauce and although looking small in size it was actually very filling! My gf had a lamb dish that also tasted delicious! You must try it!

After being bowled over by the ecstatic reviews about this place, I decided to see what all the fuss was about. Set in 17th century house, the setting and decor is very tasteful, with a relaxing lounge area with a roaring, and a more formal dining area. Although the website described it as 'Nottingham's premier fine dining restaurant', we felt a little out of our depth after being greeted with a nitrogen infused balsamic mouse?! The evening followed with fantastic food (although small portions) and descriptions with every course as long as your arm! Although the food was great, the atmosphere was flat as a pancake, with most people talking in hushed whispers most of the night. However, other people have not had the same experience so maybe we just had a tough crowd. We left feeling like we'd had delicious food, had shouted all evening and were still a little bit hungry!
