From the location to the atmosphere to the food, you will leave Zahav with a positive experience that will stay with you.

The most amazing restaurant experience we have ever had. Celebrating our 36th anniversary. My Wycherley is GF. The went above and beyond to accommodate her. Food was delicious, interesting and out of this world. Service was above and beyond! Loved the Israeli music. Would give it six stars if I could.

BEWARE!! Took my daughter here for her birthday. Food was great, but they add a 20% surcharge on your bill. They never disclosed this prior to ordering. There isnโt any messages on the menu. The surcharge is NOT a tip. This is just dreadful. Pay your employees more, raise your prices. Donโt rip us off at the end of the meal. This left a bad taste in my mouth. We wonโt be back. So very disappointed.

I seriously cannot say enough when it comes to desribing how TRULY AMAZING Zahav is. Every bite is so damn deliciuous that it sometimes makes me want to cry. The entire meal is perfectly executed and seasoned. Even if Middle Eastern food is not your thing, I promise you will enjoy the food here. Service is phenominal. My only negative, which is truly a result of the times, is that I wish Zahav offered the pre-Covid menu that allowed patrons to order individual dishes as opposed to solely offering the tasting menu - giving patrons the oppurtunity to customize their experience and spend less if needed. Having said that, I still cannot wait to return to Zahav next time I'm in Philly.

I would say this restaurant is a 12/10 for the food, its actually like unbelievably good and I have had lunch and dinner here numerous times. The only reason I did not give it a full 5 stars is because the service is not so good, sometimes it is, sometimes its not, its spotty and we've had less than amazing staff helping us. But i continue to return, its worth it!!!

I am a harsh critic and not easy to please but Zahav could easily be my most favorite restaurant in the entire world! Food is as phenomenal as everyone says. A lot of highly praised Michelin 3 restaurants have one semi genius course following with arrays of mediocrity. However Zahav is just one genius course after another it's like the Mozart for food. I am not even kidding it's that good! And with Zahav, it's not just food, it's the overall experience! From the moment you enter you face the most pleasant hostess, the most amazing manager and the most incredible staff. It's just a truly amazing restaurant. I can't wait to go back.

As always Zahav proves itself to be the best restaurant in the Delaware Valley. Every dish is a treat and the amount of preparation needed to create this dining experience is almost unfathomable. The service is perfect allowing for dinner conversation but keeping the almost unending river of food magically appearing. You owe it to yourself to partake in this gustatory bonanza at least once in your life.
Be the first to ReplyGood food (mostly) but noisy and EXPENSIVE
Five family members had dinner on a Saturday night. We had a $200 gift card which did not even put a dent in our bill. The restaurant was very, very loud. We had the fixed price menu with the wine pairing. Everyone in our party was happy with the food and the amount of food. The variety of items presented with the first course were delicious. I did not care for the lamb - I thought it was oddly bitter. The dessert course was underwhelming. I really enjoyed the wine served with our wine pairing so when the waiter suggested I purchase a couple of the bottles to take with me, I (happily, drunkenly) agreed. Big mistake. We were charged $72 + 20% service charge for a $15 dollar bottle of wine. Same thing for the $82 second bottle. I do understand there is quite a mark-up with restaurant wines but I feel like I have been ripped off. So buyer beware. Well, I will find a nice, quiet local byob Mediterranean restaurant and bring my very expensive bottles with me.
Be the first to ReplyMemorable feast at Zahav, a must do
This is a very, very good restaurant. The chef/owner is Michael Solomonov, a James Beard award winning chef with about 5 places in his portfolio. The cuisine is Israeli. The menu is prix fixed with sharing plates. Highlights are his laffa bread ( like a thicker pita), the pomegranate lamb, zucchini schnitzel, and the honeydew sorbet. Casual vibe. Veggie option. Service is warm and friendly. The chef stopped by to say hello which was a warm touch. Reservations are near impossible to get. Suggest that you use the concierge at your hotel several weeks in advance. Location is Society Hill neighborhood, a short drive from the City Center.
Be the first to ReplyFood excellent. Great variety of tastes and presentation. Very noisy
The food was quite good and varied. Served by a large team of knowledgeable wait staff. everyone was impressed by the bill of fare. Be prepared for a hefty bill with service charges, tips, etc. The wine accompaniment was sparing for the price. We found it very difficult to hear and understand the wait staff due to the lack of sound deadening materials in the completely stone-walled dining room. Even talking to each other had to be at a loud volume do be heard over all the other voices echoing around the room. As a result we missed a lot of conversation and information the wait staff tried to communicate. They need to hang some fabric or something to deaden the noise. Also the service, when plates are being delivered to the table was quite rushed with little attention in between deliveries. Nonetheless we enjoyed the variety of the menu, the presentation and tastes.
Be the first to ReplyUnpleasant and Disappointing
I was so disappointed upon entering this very noisy and caferia-style restaurant. I couldn't hear any of the descriptions of the many dishes that were served. Zahav now has a tasting menu which has so many dishes but none are memorable. This is not fine dining. I was there several years ago and loved it but it has changed and was unrecognizable to me. So disappointed!
Be the first to ReplyBest hummus outside of Israel
Our first bite at our first time at Zahav was the laffa bread dipped in their hummus. Best hummus weโve ever tasted outside of Israel. Perhaps even in Israel. The meal was a must-repeat and the chef and staff made us feel like we were guests in their home. We will be making many trips back to Zahav.
Be the first to ReplyBetter than Anticipated
Everyone talks about how good Zahav is but Middle Eastern food isn't my favorite so I was a bit hesitant and not expecting much. However, Zahav lived up to the hype. The meal was fabulous in every aspect. Only negative may be that there is TOO much food.

Incredible food - what a treat! We enjoyed dinner at the bar recently. There is a tasting menu and we enjoyed everything offered, even dishes we would not normally select. The service is friendly and not rushed. Simply fabulous! Reservations required. Canโt wait to return.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent!
Delicious food and excellent customer service. The variety of small tasting plates was amazing and every bite was very good. The server mentioned the large amount of food and reminded us to make sure we left room for all the courses. There is an option for vegetarians as well. We chose the lamb and the wine pairing and we were very satisfied.
Be the first to ReplyOverhyped and underwhelmed
Iโm not sure if our 5 person meal was worth $616! Iโm going to keep this short and simple, the service was average, the wine pairing was awful, and the food was ok! After logging on everyday and trying to get a table at this place, I would not go back. Itโs my opinion but I felt like I had to put it out there.
Be the first to ReplyBest with mixed feelings
Got a bit of a mixed feelings about the place. Honestly the food and service is great so I can't give it less than 5 *. The amount of food is good. Not great but really good and if you need extras you get extras. Family style or rather Israeli style dining is wonderful it is filling and you have variety for all who can do spicy or need not spicy or need something else.
I haven't seen a better Israeli restaurant anywhere in the US and believe me I've looked. One thing that gives me pause a little bit is the wine list and the hype. I get the hype but the wine list could be better.`
Fabulous Mediterranean restaurant Fixed price expensive (what ya expect )
Sit down and they serve a multi-course meal of small plates that are flavorful and creative. They roasted the fabulous lamb dish for 3 days and you could slice it with a fork. The vegetables were excellent, even the carrots and beets which I usually donโt care for. The service was bubbly and attentive. One has to pace oneself and this is a resistant in which you feast on the next course wondering what they will bring next(unless you study the menu) it is expensive and quite worth it. It was not easy to get in. After the second try we lucked out since someone cancelled their reservation
Be the first to ReplyA lovely experience!
Neatly tucked away in a corner of Philadelphia stands Zahav....a restaurant which one had heard much and as a result expectations were high. The restaurant is definitely an experience not to be missed...the pre set menu was a fitting example of Israeli cuisine and we enjoyed all the courses immensely. A lovely evening which will be remembered and cherished...
Be the first to ReplyGood but hyped
The food was good but it didn't blow me away. Considering the price point and the small serving sizes, I probably wont go back.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely worth the hype!
We were lucky to get a last-minute reservation at Zahav, and I'm so glad we did. Not only is the pre-fixe menu insanely delicious, but also the chef was able to accommodate and work around allergies and preferences in a delicious way. The pomegranate lamb shoulder is worth the price alone, but other highlights include the roasted eggplant, the halloumi, and the green apple sorbet. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable, attentive, and friendly, and suggested a fantastic cocktail pairing for the menu. Zahav is a definite must-experience!
Be the first to ReplyTasty food way over priced!
Food and service are superb! Value for money, not really. Way too small of servings for 4 people. You are better off taking 2 tables with two family members on each so you get more food. We were 4 people and table next to us with couple had the same amount of food. We got 3 pieces of tiny chicken kabob for family of 4!
Be the first to ReplyDelicious Tapas Style Israeli Food
The tasting menu was delicious. Portions are generous, especially for a tasting menu. The wine pairing was definitely worth it. The atmosphere was lively and non-pretentious; perfect for date night or a night out with friends. Also, for a restaurant that won the James Beard award for best restaurant in America in 2019, I was surprised how reasonably priced it was. It was roughly $150/person for the prix fixe menu, wine pairing, and a few extra cocktails. I would highly recommend this restaurant to family and friends. Donโt pass on the hummus!
Be the first to ReplyNot sure itโs worth the hype
Ok, I went through the drill of reserving online 6 weeks in advance and paying a $54 deposit.
Got to the restaurant and it was very crowded and loud. We ordered some wine and then the conveyor belt of food startedโฆ.13 small plates in all. You donโt get to order off the menu as it is a prix fix menu. Twice we asked that they slow down the process as we were drowning in food at our table.
The food and flavors were excellent but the experience was somewhat marred.
No real atmosphere
Tables jammed together
Very loud
Way too much food
Felt rushed
We got our bill with a mandatory 20% tip but no sign of my deposit from 6 weeks prior
โOh, let me checkโ said the serverโฆ.lo and behold he came back with an adjusted bill that had my $54 deposit.
How many people forget about their deposit and it never makes it to you final bill???
I really liked the food and would only go back if I could just order the food I like as it was way too much.
Zahav - not worth it!
Not worth it! We had a reservation for 8pm. We arrived a little early so we asked if we could have a drink at the bar. We were told NO as it was full of people eating. The hostess said we would need to wait for our table. When we sat at our table our waitress explained the we menu and asked if we would like anything. We ordered cocktails. The food arrived before our drinks and they loaded the small 2 person table with the first course items. We waited for our drinks before we ate. And more dishes of food arrived and craned on the table. We had to asked them to remove the water bottle so our wine billed and glasses would fit. And then more dishes - rush and eat rush and eat.
We had to ask them to slow the dishes so we could eat the dishes in our table.
You could not enjoy your dinner. They seem to want you in and out! The table next to us was even asked if they wanted their first round put in to-go containers so they could bring them more food and they were not even done!
